Hi all Glad I found this thread. I am gathering all my information, Omrun scale, and stocking up to start next week. I have a lot of "social" engagements coming up....so it would set myself up for failure. I am going to try IP diet on my own. Anyone have experience with it? I know it is very restrictive but I need a jump start for encouragement.
I tried about 6 months ago with a trainer/dietician and working out 4 days a week really intensely and ended up being stalled for six weeks!! Got frustrated and quit! + added another 10 lbs in the meantime SIGH....
Hoping this diet may break the start ?
thanx
Maurita
Aida - Great job - another steady, consistent loss!
Maurita -
Hope you find the encouragement to meet your goals here. I have heard of IP, but have no personal experience with it.
I saw a well-known trainer speaking the other day, and he stressed that although exercise is important, weight loss is dependant 80% on diet and only 20% on exercise. I hope you will find what works for you, as I think that is the most important thing.
Most of us weigh in on Saturdays, but whatever works for you is great.
Maurita - Maybe you were putting on some muscle so it just seemed like you were stalled when you were working out alot. Anyway - sorry the scale snuck up on you. I hate that. Welcome to the board. I'm not familiar with IP but I think there are some threads about it.
Lizzie-I bet you will show some progress next week. Hang in there.
Aida-steady with your weight loss as always. Good job!
Welcome Maurita!! I am not familiar with the IP diet as well. However, we have a great group of people here who will support you during your journey to reach your diet goal. Sounds like you are getting everything in place to be fully committed this time around. You can do it!!!!
Appreciate your support as I try AGAIN to adjust my mindset. I know I have to do something! Glad I found you all.
Renee, Jude, Corinna what diets are following, You are inspirational! I am getting psyched up with your successes. CONGRATS
What works for me is purging the house of high calorie snacks and portion control. I snack on fruit throughout the day and really watch the amount of food at mealtime. If I really get hungry between lunch and dinner, I'll have a bowl of cereal.
Hi Ladies, and welcome Maurita! Congrats to Aida, Jude, and all of you losers HAHA.
Jude, you have lost SO much! What is it that's working so well for you?
I've been stressed lately, but have been good so far this week. Doing a little online dating (just communicating at this point) and am freaking out that when I do meet someone he'll think I'm too chunky . It's tough out there and we all know how visual guys are.
I have been walking more and riding my son's bike around the neighborhood a few times...it's been a while and I have to get used to riding again.
Bought a bunch of veggies and hope to substitute them for the higher carb/calorie stuff this week and see how it goes.
Lizzie - Don't beat yourself up!!! Just try to take it one day at a time
Andi - Good to see you back. My kids tell me I should try online dating, but to be honest it kind of scares me!
What has been working for me is paying close attention to portion size, and writing down EVERYTHING I eat - it's hard to say "I don't know why I'm not losing" when you see it written down that you ate a bag of chips and a chocolate bar, oh and that piece of cake that someone brought in to work!!!
I stay away from most carbs, and limit my fats. I eat a lot of vegetables(not the starchy ones), and stick to lean meats like fish, chicken breast and veal or very lean beef. I also eat a piece or two of fruit a day, but only the lower carb ones like apples, pears, oranges. I try to eat only when I am hungry, and I drink LOTS of water (at least 3, and up to 5 litres per day). I prepare my own food most of the time as well.
Lizzie-here is a double dose of will power dust for you . You can do it. Stay focused. I know it can be hard at times. However, don't budge. You will be glad you stuck to your diet. We are all wishing you the power to hang in there and stick to it. Go Lizzie!!!!
Maurita-I follow a vegetarian diet (ovo/lacto-meaning still eat eggs & dairy). I cut back on sweets too. Plus I try to exercise of some type every day. My husband lost 60 pounds this year so far by just not eating dairy, bread products, and starch-carb like foods (ie potatoes). He eats mostly fruit and vegetables with some turkey, chicken, and fish. Plus is eating only natural foods, no processed foods.
I like eating frozen blueberries for a snack.
Andi-don't stress out. You will be fine in the dating game. If they judge you on your size, then you don't want them anyway. As a matter of fact, we are both the same height, and I met my husband when I weighed around 170. We were married 5 months later and still are 28 years later.
Weigh-in for this week-still holding strong to my spot.
IT'S NOT ABOUT HOW GOOD YOU ARE BUT HOW BAD YOU WANT IT!!
Never trade what you want the most for what you want at the moment.
If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got.
Down .6 lbs. Not much, but in the right direction. Beautiful Fall weather here. Garden is winding down, just have cabbage, broccoli, kale, brussel sprouts, letttuce and radishes left to harvest. Have a wonderful week everyone!
