Lucindaarrowspark - we all go up and down in our weight from time to time. That is normal. My weight goes up and down a few pounds all through the week. How much weight are you talking about? A few pounds or 10 lbs plus? It is important to stay focused on your goal and know where you are headed. There are always some bumps on the way, however, you will and can make it to the finish line. We have all gone through it, so you are not alone. Don't let it get you down. Just let it empower you to stay strong. :cb: Hang in there. :cheer:

Corinna T 03-07-2014 07:33 PM

Today's weigh-in shows a 1.5 pound loss. Yippee! Slowly but steadily I am getting there.

Hope everyone is having a good week, sticking to diets, and finding time or a place to exercise too. Wishing you better weather to make it easier to exercise as well.

Corinna T 03-14-2014 08:43 PM

Today's weigh-in shows a loss of 1.5 pounds. Yeah!
:dancer:

I was worried this week because it seems like I go down a little and then stop and then down a little and stop. However, the scale went down 2 weeks in a row, so I am happy.

Planning For Good Eating

Here is a Walt Disney Video titled Planning for Good Eating. It brings back memories. It points out why you should eat certain types of foods, which is still relevant today. Hope you enjoy watching it. It is about 8 1/2 minutes.

10-surprising-ways-to-prevent-overeating

I was taught to eat quickly and it is a habit that is hard to break. However, I think it is very important to eat food much slower. This article just reminded me that I need to start thinking about eating slow again. ;)

Today's weigh-in shows .....that I stayed the same this week. No weight loss or gain. Some my body must be stabilizing for now. I hope to make some positive progress this upcoming week. Maybe there will be a few others this week who will be more fortunate.

:bubbles:

Renee3 03-22-2014 06:30 AM

I stayed the same too....hopefully will do better next week.

Spring has finally arrived, though they are calling for more snow on Tuesday!

Sure has been quiet in this forum...

Have a great week everyone!

:carrot: Your doing good AAD and Deelou!! Stick with it. :carrot:

Renee, I think we both are planning on tilting that scale once again in a positive direction this week. :cheer: It may have stuck for one week, but with a little effort I think we can get those pounds disappearing once again.

Corinna T 03-24-2014 07:16 AM

:twirly:

I was looking for something different to eat. You know how it is when you eat the same thing day after day. I needed to find something that would fit my husband's diet too. I found this recipe in a Better Homes & Garden Cookbook. Made it, and both my husband and I found it to be a recipe that we will make again. If you like Green Beans, then I think you will enjoy this one. The recipe called for fresh green beans. We used frozen and they tasted good to us. It also called for peeled tomatoes, but we didn't peel them and they turned out fine. So here it is:

Spanish String Beans
1 pound Green Beans, cut into 1-inch pieces (3 cups)
1/2 cup chopped Green Pepper
1/4 cup chopped Onion
1 tablespoon Olive oil or cooking oil
2 medium Tomatoes, peeled and chopped.
1 teaspoon Salt
1/8 teaspoon Black Pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried Basil, crushed
1/4 teaspoon dried Rosemary, crushed
Salt and pepper to taste.

Cook fresh cut-up grean beans in water until desired tenderness. Then drain.

Meanwhile, cook chopped green pepper and onion in hot olive oil or cooking oil till tender but now brown.

Add chopped tomatoes, salt, basil, rosemary, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.

Stir in cooked green beans, heat through.

Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Makes 8 servings. :eating2:

Deelou 03-25-2014 08:27 AM

I thought it was too good to be true....up 2pounds....the only thing I can figure is I had French toast for dinner last night and it was white bread....praying it is only water!! I think I do better when I cut back on all white flour and most wheat products...no gastric issues, but weight...I keep on keeping on....lunc with daughter today....salad! Which I do not like a whole lot...

Corinna T 03-25-2014 05:06 PM

Deelou hang in there. My weight goes up and down all through the week too. Maybe it was just the white bread. Keep strong for the rest of this week and I think you will be okay.

Corinna T 03-26-2014 07:20 AM

Fall is in the air here, so that means Spring is in the air for East Coast USA. :shocksn: Maybe you will have one last snowfall before then.

I think you probably have had more than enough snow this year though. :snow4:

Hope you enjoy your Spring. :flow1:

Renee3 03-26-2014 04:03 PM

Very cold and windy here today...the calendar says Spring, but it still feels like Winter!

Corinna T 03-26-2014 05:03 PM

Renee- I bet you are looking forward to some nicer weather. I hope you get some soon.

Here is another recipe that I like and want to share:

Arabian Spinach

1 Onion, sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
2 small garlic cloves, crushed
14 oz spinach, washed and shredded
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 X 15 oz can chick peas, drained
salt and ground black pepper

In a large frying pan or wok, fry the onion in the oil for about 5 minutes until softened.

Add the garlic and cumin seeds, then fry for another minute.

Add the spinach , in stages, stirring it until the leaves begin to wilt.

Stir in chick peas, and seasoning. Reheat until just bubbling, then serve hot.

Serves 4

Corinna T 03-28-2014 07:43 PM

Today's weigh-in shows 0.5lb loss. :carrot: I'm still headed in the right direction. Hope the rest of you do better. :)

Renee3 03-29-2014 06:42 AM

Good job Corinna! I stayed the same...too much stress eating this week...will do better next week.....

Deelou 03-29-2014 08:07 AM

3/29 = 216.2 Woohoo! = -6.8

Corinna T 03-30-2014 05:00 AM

Good job group! It looks like we are all hanging in there. No weight gain is good, and weight loss is even better. Let's all try even harder this week to see those pounds disappear. I know we can do it. :carrot: We can and We will, yes we will. Let's do it. :carrot:

lucindaarrowspark 03-30-2014 05:32 PM

I started caring in ernest about the quality and the quantity of the food I stuffed down "me gullet" on January 1st of this year. I had a few starts and spurts but since January 27th I have not fallen off my cleaner leaner life style. I weighed 163on 1/01/14 and today 3/30/14 I weigh 133.5. I have lost 30 pounds!

Corinna T 03-31-2014 06:34 AM

:woo:

Wow, what a success story!!! Good for you lucindaarrowspark. That is wonderful. You have done a great job!!!

:congrat: :celebrate:

lucindaarrowspark 03-31-2014 08:45 AM

Thanks for the shout out of support. I have been honest with my family except I am squeemish admitting to my DH that I won't be participating in our annual drunken Seder. We have historically invited family and friends to our elaborate detailed Passover Seder, where it is a religious obligation to drink 4 cups of wine. The minimum requirement to fulfill this obligation is about 4 ounces per serving. For me, that much wine spells disaster as I would be drunk and unable to stop myself from over eating. This year I will not be drinking wine. I will be drinking flavored tea( my Rabbi wrote an article saying this is acceptable for those who can not drink)
Why haven't I come clean to my husband?
Perhaps I fear he will think I am judging him, or that I am a killjoy or I am just being difficult for difficulties sake.
I do not want to admit to himthat I think I am an alcoholic/sugar addict. Its like I am adding one more thing to my list of "ailments"

Hi there Chickies!

How are you all doing this week?

I hope you're only pecking at the good food and leaving all the bad food alone.

Staying away from all the bad food is even better yet.
