Good morning everyone! Stayed the same for the 3rd week in a row :( I guess I need to rethink my eating habits again......I seem to go into hibernation mode and store extra fat for the winter! Hope you all did better than me......
Renee |
Hellloooo,
I've stayed the same too Renee. I'm not sure how many weeks ago I joined this thread but I've been stuck at the same weight all this time. I really have to admit I'm not really sticking to an exact plan and with the transition haven't been getting regular exercise. Thanks Jillie. I needed a reminder about the "thread tools":dizzy: I know you love your mountains but Florida sounds like a good place to be right now. I've been in the desert for 11 years but now I'm enjoying the fall in the PNW including the rain and cooler temps. Sleeping better than I have in a long time. Take care. |
Hi everyone,
I've had my weigh in after a 2 week vacation in Korea and was thrilled to see I am down one half pound! I'll take it. My goal was to stay the same as I didn't take to many of my IP foods, but I guess I took enough. So relieved, and now back on the plan. So down a total of 9 lbs and counting. |
Hi Ladies! I'm finally got back home yesterday after a long vacation. It was wonderful being with relatives again. I missed them so much. It was nice seeing the Fall foliage too.
Now taking a look at my scale this morning I see I am up two pounds. That doesn't surprise me though. I ate a lot of good food while away. Now I will just have to pay the price and get down to work on shedding them once again. Off to a good start today. I was handed a snickers bar, which I quickly pushed aside. Later I got an e-mail about fresh cinnamon buns heading to work later this week, so I quickly deleted that e-mail. It is all the little things which can quickly add up if I don't stop them in their tracks. :) Oh yes, my alias is Corinna T. Previously I let the other name slip out due to my rush to finish packing prior to my trip. However, I hope you all will be so kind to let me remain on this thread as Corinna T. ;) I read the posts on here and it looks like a few have lost a pound or two, but most are stuck in a rut for now. Okay ladies, how can we challenge each other to get this motivation going again? Anyone have any hints or tips about how they avoid temptations when they arise? |
Hi Girls! Glad everyone is arriving home safely....always a relief :-)
Lost a pound somewhere along the way, am keeping within my calorie count, but I think I'm eating too many bad carbs within those calories. Gonna get back to chicken/fish and veggies/fruit now that company is gone. Helping a friend move today. Exercise! But I'll pay for it tomorrow. :dizzy: Let's work together to get ahead on getting some of this fat off before the holidays, Chicks!!! |
Welcome back Corinna. Morning Jillie. Yeah - I kinda feel bad that I joined you guys and, evidently, just have not been up to the challenge. I really need to lose. I'm down to one pair of jeans. Jillie seems to be our best loser - sticking to 1200 a day. I'm a carb watcher but maybe have to tweak it. I keep thinking I'll try IF twice a week but I've failed to do it. I'm off of any type of routine exercise since moving but the bedroom is cleared of boxes and I can start with some regular yoga. I've seriously injured one foot during this move and not up to much else. See you guys later......
|
I probably should not even be here as my thyroid has blown my metabolism...getting better but still no loss. I am hoping for a rise in energy so I can exercise, now doing what I have to to care for my family is all I can do. My doc said, yes thyroid is most likely why I am not losing, and that one of his patients went to between 800-900 and was able to lose! I aim for 1100, but do not lose...the few days I dropped it I felt terrible, not enough food!
|
Welcome back Corinna  Glad you had a good vacation! I am really in a rut....can't seem to get motivated and I love to bake this time of the year.....
|
Renee-I think you may have just brought an idea to my mind. Why don't we all look for low calorie good recipes to share with each other that we like to make for special occasions. Some type of low calorie cookie or meal that is great for the holidays. I will have to look for something this weekend to share with everyone.
Deelou-If you eat too little, then your body will not have enough energy to function. You may hurt yourself more by doing that. That is why your body doesn't feel good. Also, you do belong here too. We look forward to sharing with you, and want you here too. Don't give up yet lady! Have you tried drinking some type of vitamin drink to get you going. That may help you some. Crimzon-hang in there. Sorry to hear about your foot. What is IF? I forgot what it is. |
Corrina, what type of vitamin drink? I take multi, fish oil, vit D everyday would this be in addition? Looking for anything.
It like pumpkin pudding A box of sugar free vanilla or butterscotch, I like vanilla 1/2-2/3 C pumpkin Pumpkin spices as you like! Mix and eat! Good! I also like to heat v-8 in a mug, tastes like tomato soup |
Corrina - IF = intermittent fasting. I watched Dr. Mosley's video on youtube and picked up his book at the library - The Fast Diet. It's not really a full fast. His variation is dropping your calories to very low levels - about 500 for women and 600 for men - twice a week.
Yes, let's post some recipes. Deelou - maybe some B-complex? I don't know. But definitely stay with us. We'd miss ya. You can see by my earlier post I'm not exactly happy with myself - thyroid is a problem as is menopause. I get encouraged on this board when I read the success stories of women who are about my age. I sometimes make a pumpkin spice smoothie. Yogurt, canned pumpkin, stevia and pumpkin pie spice. Yum. |
I take B complex every other day...I did IF for three weeks....0 lost, I have messed up my metabolism and have tried everything except vegan as I have to MAKE myself eat veggies because they are good for me not because I like them...but hanging in here trying to eat healthy 90% of the time....

Here is one of my favorite recipes called Pumpkin/Black Bean Soup. I tend to add different vegetable ingredients to it sometimes. I told my husband, who doesn't like pumpkin, that it had a secret ingredient. He loved the soup. Eventually I told him what it was (pumpkin) and he was surprised. Hope you will like it too. This one is a healthy meal. :)
Ingredients include 1 TBSP Olive Oil 5 Green Onions (thinly slice white and green parts, save some for topping) 1 Red Bell Pepper, chopped 3 Garlic Cloves, chopped 1 1/2 Tsp ground Cumin 1/2 Tsp dried Thyme 2 cans (15oz each) Black Beans, rinsed and drained 1 can (15 oz) pure pumpkin 1 can (14.5 oz) no salt diced tomatoes 1 can (14 oz) vegetable broth 1/2 cup water 1/2 tsp salt 1/8 tsp cayene pepper Directions: Heat oil in large saucepan over medium heat. Add onions, red pepper, garlic and cook until soft, approx 4-5 minutes. Stir in Cumin and Thyme, cook for 1 minute. Add beans, pumpkin, tomatoes, broth, water, and bring to boil. Reduce heat to low and cook 10 minutes. Stir in salt, cayenne pepper to taste. Top each serving with dark green onion tops. Makes 8 (1 cup) servings. |
There are several different types of vitamin drinks at the stores. I understand that you can take them to lose weight, gain weight, or maintain weight. Some are Ensure, Slim Fast, or other diet loss mixes. I like naturoPATHICA Fat Blaster Weight Loss Shake. I don't know if that is carried in the USA. It has all the vitamins and minerals that I need for a meal. However, I am sure you can find something similar in a vitamin/health food shop. I am going to be trying a new one soon called Zija. It also is suppose to provide me with more energy.

Corinna, that soup recipe sounds yummy...going to make it this week! We're getting cold weather here and it will sure taste good on a cold night....thanks!

How are you all doing this week. Here is something I found about portion control for dieting:
|
Quiet here this weekend.
|
Well, the scale stayed the same for me again....really need someone to give me a pep-talk....help!
|
Corinna, I just read the article you posted. Makes a lot of sense to me. I do tend to eat too fast. I think if I would drink a glass of water before my meal and eat slower that I might be on the right track...I'll give it a try this week
|
I'm happy to report the scale finally moved. I'm done two pounds which makes me very happy. I have to keep it moving in that direction, and hopefully it is a true loss and not just a minor fluctuation. I'm going to change my stats!!
Renee - I know you can do this! I really want to be a "success story" on this board. There are so many - it gives me encouragement. Corinna - Good post. I can totally relate to spending way too much time thinking about my weight. Especially reading about diet books of all kinds in search for the magic bullet. Too much time on Amazon for sure. How's everyone doing today? |
Yeah Lizzie! Good job!! Keep up the good work. It is nice to hear that your scale is finally showing some new numbers for you. :cheer2:
Renee, don't give up hope yet. You can do this!! Do you keep a food journal to see what you have been eating, and what perhaps you can change in the future? I do from time to time. It helps me see if I have been eating enough/too little, or just balanced meals each day. :write: Here is an idea for a quick snack. Cut up some fresh fruit and mix in a bowl, chill, and serve with a little greek yogurt. |
Great job Lizzie!
For some reason I don't seem to have any willpower...I just plain overeat and snack too much. I'm so mad at myself for giving in to cravings. I MUST get focused and I Will eat more healthy! |
Thanks you guys!
Renee - You've lost 19 pounds so you know how to do it. That's excellent by the way. Snacking is a problem for me too. Not in between breakfast and lunch but about 3:00 or 4:00 until dinner is a danger zone. I have to work on that bad habit. Like Corinna, sometimes I keep a food diary. I should start logging now anyway because I've been getting acid reflux symptoms. See you guys later... |
Hey Guys! Happy Sunday, Y'all! How's Everyone Doing Today???
Whew! It's been a whirlwind of getting settled back in central FL for the winter, plus too many guests and too much family stuff! A bit of a culture shock since our summers in NC are Just Us much of the time...doing what we want, when we want to. After Hubster's birthday tomorrow, we will be able to concentrate on eating better. Even tho we've been able to stick within our 1200 calorie limit for the day, not much loss because of the foods we've been eating....but no gain either. I'll take that!! Starting Tuesday, we will be back on protein, veggies, fruit...and off all the white stuff for a while. Was fun reading up on everyone's posts....have missed y'all! Let's Keep On Keepin' On, Chicks!!!! We CAN do this!!!! Loved everyone's suggestions for snacking...I love a plum or a handful of grapes. I also keep sugar-free Popsicles and fudgesicles, plus SF FF Instant a Pudding on hand. I do have some great recipes to share, one that I made last week that's packed full of protein and fiber to offset the calories. It's filling, satisfying and even my finicky granddaughter asks me to make it! I'll find it and a couple others and post them here for you. Have a fun day!! |
My retreat was wonderful, and this week I'm am looking into the glycemic index and eating low glycemic...
|
Welcome back Jillie and Deelou!!
|
I am going to be honest here....at my retreat because of Daytona having little parking where we could eat and go to convention without walking too far my eating for those two days consisted of...
Egg and toast..breakfast Kirkland nut and seed bar...lunch Kirkland nut and seed bar...dinner Only pineapple chunks at dessert reception Eggs and ww toast for.....breakfast No lunch Pot roast hubby made with veggies fat drained off..dinner Then normal Sunday and Monday...normal meaning clean eating.....his am I weighed...up 2 lbs.. This is my journey, it seems whether I eat well or not up and down two pounds...I may as well make my goal to just be 169... Hope to get answers from endrocrinologist...Dec 17, I am feeling better fatigue wise, took a mile bike ride, and oh yes, walked a LOT Saturday as well! |
Hi Deelou - I think you changed your thyroid meds some weeks back. I think you switched to natural thyroid? It can take six or more weeks to take effect. When we change my meds I get tested at three months. That's great your fatigue has improved!
|
Yes I switched to armour thyroid which had worked better many years ago....praying the weight will resolve soon
|
Corinna, I made your pumpkin soup today ...it was delicious. Thanks for the recipe!
|
Great Renee! Glad you tried it and liked it. I think the flavors mingle better after a day. I have a good kale and white bean soup recipe too. I just can't seem to find it though. Spinach works as a substitute. I will keep looking.
My husband and my dog have both been sick, so I haven't been getting too much exercise. I have been sticking to my diet pretty well. |
Shocked to see a loss, not posting it until I see a couple of days....
|
Hope your scale stays low or lower for you Deelou!!!
|
Down! Low glycemic seems to be helping!
|
That great Deelou!
Corinna - Hoping everyone at your house is feeling better. |
Weigh in was not good :( I'm in such a rut......hope to do better next week....
|
Oh no Renee, what is going on.....how can we motivate you again? Are you still staying busy with the horses on the farm? Is it your meal choices that are keeping you in place? Or is it just depression with the onset of Fall/Winter and less hours of light?
Well, everyone in my house is feeling better. Thanks Lizzie. My weight went down about 1/2 pound this week. Almost a full pound, but I don't want to count on it just yet. I will wait until next week to see how it registers. |
I completely forgot to weigh in this morning. I slept in a bit and then had breakfast so I'll catch up with you guys tomorrow. I never weigh myself after breakfast - just one of my rules.
Hang in there Renee. Corinna - congratulations! How's the rest of the gang doing? |
Back up....ate clean all week and even added exercise....so goes hypothyroid....
|
I am keeping at it and not going to weigh but once a week...could be water ?? Hopefully!!
