  • Donna...Sgt Gnomes moved in here at our house to keep DH happy. Once a jar head always a jar head...(ie slang term for a Marine)...just adore the little guy and found him on amazon where else....do so much shopping there that am on 1st name base with UPS driver. k3

ps welcome winter rose ... phew need a shorter name
  • If you all want you can call me Rose because from what I can tell there will be a bit of confusing if you were to call me KAREN since there are a lot already here so I will RETURN soon !!!
  • Hey are you a Karen, too?????
  • Hi Golden Girls -
I've missed you all. My mother who was doing so well after mastectomy is not so great now. She has lost a lot of weight and is confused again.had them run all sorts of tests. Nothing wrong there. Now having the aids that come in 3 times a day give her some Glucerna.

Had talk with doc and got some of DMs meds stopped or cut down. She is about 5' 1/2" - and is down to 120 lbs. She hasn't weighed that since the 1960s. But she wasn't getting the nutrients she needed. I also tried to get the doc to take her off the Amaryl (makes more insulin) cuz I don't think she needs it. And low blood sugar makes her mental state worse. He wouldn't cut that.

He did cut back on Parkinson's meds wich can cause confusion. And cut the cholesterol med out. And blood pressure. She's never had high bp. Low bp runs in our family. Even at our heaviest our bp is fine. She has Parkinson's and Alzheimer's - and she's barely eating - I'd rather her have blood sugar too high than too low. They take her bs 3 times a day. I wanted that stopped. If I can get her to eat ice cream every day - her favorite thing - I'm gonna do it! I have to say, this has been tough.

Things are a little better with DS and fiancé cuz I basically apologize for....anything. And I haven't seen them in a while. Today is the bridal shower and I'm so nervous. I just know I'm going to do or say something that will be interpreted in the worst possible light.

I was a flight attendant for 9 years. I've apologized for bad weather, cranky gate agents, lost luggage, tasteless food, mechanical problems with airplane, etc., none of which are my fault. I've chatted with a future president of the U.S., senators, celebrities of all kinds. Then I became a social worker. I don't usually have a problem interacting with anybody. Yet, with girl, i just can't get it right. (Sometimes it's my tone. - REALLY? Me? That's my line.) Now, I don't know how to act. I know - I'll go into bad weather, flight delay, broken plane - just keep ailing and shut my mouth. Wish me luck.

Gayle- so glad your daughter is getting away from the scum people. I worked volunteered at a shelter for abused women. Very familiar with the cycle of abuse. The "Honey moon stage."
Congrats on the weight loses everybody. I keep struggling with the same 3 lbs. Thanks for being here chicks. Big hugs to all!
  • Welcome Rose! Looking forward to getting to know you.
I'm getting ready for a bridal shower this afternoon. After that dh and I are going to SAMs to stock up on things for ds house. It's always cheaper to buy in bulk. I have the card so I will go for him. After that we are going to a barbecue at sister and bil house. Tomorrow we are taking a day to go riding south near the coast. Pretty excited. Sister and bil are coming with us. Should be fun.

Karen3. Just to let you know your an aggravating nag. I was looking for something to snack and I was fixing to grab a bag of potato chips and there you were in my head. Darn. I coulda had me some chips. Don't know why this is working but it is!!! Thanks. You are awesome!!!!!!!!

I have to get hair done and get dressed. Have a great weekend!!

    Hugs Cajun
  • Took Benedryl and still couldn't sleep til past one, then slept til 9. Dh went to an early men's breakfast at church and now is working in the yard. It's a beautiful day but I really haven't gotten much done. Have some of my daily cleaning done...bathrooms, made bed, budgeting etc. but that's it. When I get on the computer to do the budgeting, I tend to get side tracked. I had a pb mocha for breakfast and will soon eat some fruit, and that's it so far with my eating. I have pretty much been eating whatever I want, just trying to space out my meals. Eves remain hard and my weight is up a little, basically I'm just up and down but right now I'm kinda on a gaining trend according to Weight Commander. Which makes me think ...do any of you buy from Woman Within? I used to have to return their tops because they were too big, but I now realize I was buying like from a regular store and that I needed a Medium in their sizes. Got two tops recently that fit me pretty well. I may buy more from them. I do wish they had a store here so I could return things there rather than having to ship them back though, just in case.

Deelee10 - Sorry to hear about your mother. Sure hope she gets better soon. It's really tricky sometimes to know what to do when people are that age and so many things going wrong.

HisWinterRose - Welcome to our group! I love your username!

Well I need to get moving. Want to return an item to Target.
  • Thank you all for the warm welcome's you might all be getting some friend requests sometime next week if I have not already done so ... so have a blessed weekend ladies and see you all soon !!!

  • Just a quick pop in this evening. Getting ready to take our little Allante' over to a cruise night at Culvers... Usually there are at least 50 to 100 cars there and tropys are given. This will be our second time....wish us luck!

    Be back later....

  • Rose - welcome! I'm glad we can call you something other than Karen; we already have two!

Dee - good to see you, but I'm sorry your life is still so stressy. That new DIL is a pip, for sure! And mostly, I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Spent 4 hours at Barb's this afternoon... we got SO much done! SIL cleaned the bedrooms and vacuumed; it looks really nice. DB and I finished up the basement. Geez, that girl had a lot of stuff! I'm so glad I'll be dead when someone has to go through MY crap!

I'm going to go stretch my hips, which are really hurting. They'll be okay by morning.

Everyone, have a good evening. Dee - don't let that little snot get to you!
  • Happy Birthday Deelee ~ hope it was a good day.
