~~April Golden Girls~~

We are the Golden Girls...

There is Value in us
There is Power in us
There is Wisdom in us
And Laughter....
We are a rainbow of unique wonders,
There is love in us.
(poem by Dorothy Holmes)

Tell us a little about your life, family and goals. What keeps you motivated? What is the best thing that's happened to you since you passed the 50 mark? 60 mark? 70 mark? Friends laugh, cry and stand by each other, we'll be that to you!

Good Morning and Happy April 1st!
We're going to get our loan today on the cat house, hope it's not a bad omen getting it on April Fools Day.
Today I'll keep track of my food and post it again like Rosey. I don't want to lose any weight, just keep it where it's at. Last week I made a beef hotdish with elbow macaroni, ate twice what I should have. Had a piece of lemon cake? Nope, 2 or 3 pieces? Yup.
If I write it down and know I have to confess, maybe I'll think before I shovel it in.
You all have a great spring day.

Cajunlady165 04-01-2013 11:31 AM

Good morning goldens
I've had so much trouble with this website. It didnt recognize my username or password. Finally I got a new password. I was going into panic mode. You ladies on here have become my lifeline. I think of you as my friends. Thank you Bobbi for keeping the golden girls. I was screaming no no and couldnt get on to let you know that.
I had both my sons and their girls here for the weekend. Had an awesome time. Busy busy. Good Friday we went crawfishing. We had a crawfish boil and fish fry at my house for family and friends. Saturday morning we went to the camp to cut the grass. We got back and went to a boat landing/cooking grill on the lake and had a few drinks and ate supper. It was nice to be all together. My sister and bil came with us. Sunday we had about 30 adults and 8 children for a barbecue. Dh did an awesome job cooking. My mom says you have to lick your elbows his barbecue is so juicy. Lol. After lunch some friends were here that played the guitar and sang. Youngest son and dh joined him on their guitars and played. We had such an awesome day. I ate all kinds of food this weekend. Desserts were out of control. Today I'm starting back on my diet. Hopefully I can get the weight gain off.
We are waiting for ds trailer home to come in this week. He's excited.
I have things to do. I'll be back a little later with personals.

Love y'all
Hugs

Bobbi~ good luck with the purchase of your new home. I hope you get to sale your current home. Thank you again for keeping GG.

Deelee~ how did it go at your future dil parents house for Easter.

Karenfl~ I don't like the sand too much but I do envy your Florida beaches unlike our Louisiana ones. Muddy and polluted with oil spills.

Sharmenu~ I envy your dedication to exercise. I think I'm lazy for exercising. After work im pooped.

marygee~your fire story gave me a good laugh. I assume you got to the root
of your detector problem.

Gayle~I feel the same way. I was on the 100 lb forum but didn't feel comfortable. There was so many people that came and went. It was hard to get to know them. Love GG.

maryea~how's that arm feeling?

Rosy~did Steve get his results yet from the dr.

Hi , Karenmo, Donna hope y'all had a good holiday.

Hugs

Karen31 04-01-2013 12:33 PM

Happy April 1 everyone!!

Bobbi-- I am so excited for you on the new house. Can't wait to see pictures! Thanks for keeping us up and running!

I woke up with a headache this morning and have been trying to shake it. Been drinking water and don't know if it is helping or not.

Cajun-- sounds like you had a good Easter weekend too. I love being with my family.

We all were meeting at my sisters for lunch after church. We decided to do some "Easter sandwich fixins" this year. Some brought desserts and others just fixins for sandwiches. My Aunt had gone to church and had a cake and bread pudding at her house to get before coming to my sisters. Well, when she got home her garage door wouldn't open and she had locked her storm door so couldn't get in. She called my brother and he went over to see if he could get in..Long story short-- he had to break her back door window to reach in and get in! She was so upset she just sent the cake over and stayed home. We went over afterwards and took her "goodies" from lunch and brought our shopvac and got the glass cleaned up. Thank goodness it was in her sunroom and she can close and lock the door from there into the main room in her house. But she was worried about Mr. Biggs being in the house and she couldn't get in... he was barking and upset that she wasn't coming in. So today will be calls to get the garage goor fixed, the big spring that runs across the top broke so my Hubby can't fix that, and getting a window for her back door. But all is well and she had settled down by the time we left. We were so afraid that Mr. Biggs would jump out there on HIS chair looking for squirrels that he might get cut if we didn't get all the glass up.

OK-- headache or no--- I'm hungry and need to eat something. Take care and I will try to get back to more personals later this evening.

jess1 04-01-2013 12:55 PM

Happy April Fool's, All...

Quick check in. I'm still watching "Doc Martin" and am almost comatose. My butt is numb, and I'm just barely into season 2. LOVE IT, LOVE IT!

Bobbi - I'm so anxious to see pictures of the CatHouse! Any news on your current home? Good thoughts!

Cajun - your bbq sounds so delish! Yum!

CK - glad you got your auntie sorted out and that Mr. Biggs was okay. It sounds like your Easter was a good one.

Gayle - work well... How was your Easter?

I'm anxious to hear how Dee's foray into the weird world of potential in-laws went, too. I hope she gives us a blow by blow account!

Better get back to "Doc Martin"... I'm starting to get feeling back in me bum!

Later, lovelies!

maryea 04-01-2013 02:13 PM

Good morning GGs! I didn't get to the gym this morning as I didn't sleep well and decided to get more sleep. Feel better now. Sounds like everyone had a nice Easter. We enjoyed watching our grandson sing in his church choir...a first for him and for us too. I know at least one of our other grandchildren has done this but we weren't there to see them as they live in another state. After church we went to our dds house and everyone enjoyed the ham, deviled eggs and salad we took. In fact next time I will take MORE deviled eggs as they were gone quickly! I didn't do too badly but I did have about 4 mini cupcakes.:o It was a beautiful day (so unusual for this time of year!) so we were able to be outside for the egg hunt and it was great fun watching the children! Of course, there were a couple they just couldn't find (they are only 3 and 6) and they were right next to them LOL...we got pictures of it, so cute! The only "if it'd been a snake, it'd bit you" came to mind..

Today I must go to the CU and withdraw the money for our taxes and I have PT this afternoon. That and housework is all I have scheduled for today.

Dh will be home soon and expecting me to have the numbers ready to go to the CU and here I sit still in my nightgown so better get with it..hope you all have a great day...work off the good Easter food! :)

Karen3 04-01-2013 06:27 PM

Evening all...what a lovely day it has been. So Springlike! Usually means we get slammed with Summer in 2 days. Saw something that could be scary on the way home this afternoon. In the middle of the passing lane on Rt 19N was a sink hole. It seemed to be about 4' wide and they had cones set up???? Sink holes grew big and deep. Need to watch on tv for report.

We had a quiet holiday. Our family is so scattered that when we get together we combine all kind of things....ChristmasEasterbrithday party. Trickortreatswithfireworks. This is the South so you have fireworks every holiday! StPatsNewYearsEve where everyone gets tiddly.....darn bet nobody remembers that word. From Jimmy Steward movie about Harvey the Rabbit.

Donna...remember last year when I sat thru 5 seasons of Doc Martin. OMG that is the best program ever. I started thinking with a Brit accent. Brillant!

Have any of you ever made pea salad? This batch was extra good. The peas pop and crunch in your mouth. I just blanched them. It was better tonight even. English peas are so Spring. Like tulips. Did I ever tell you all about being flashed by a young man in a pea patch (pick your own vegie patch). Anyway he flashed I burst out laughing and told him seen one amenic worm seen them all. I'll bet I ended his career of flashing.

Did good at bridge today. Came in 3rd out of 17 tables.

Bobbi...gesh I'm sorry I called your new place the cat house, but admit it tickles me.

I had intentions of doing all personals and my thoughts ran sideways...oh well try again tomorrow. As Bobbi says later gators (oh they, the gators are roaring their mating calls every am and evening) k3

maryea 04-01-2013 10:40 PM

I just found this recipe and thought it sounded pretty good for the few calories. I can't remember how almond milk tastes...I remember trying it a few years back...but maybe I'll try it again. Thinking this smoothie recipe could be tweaked a bit substituting other ingredients (cocoa powder, coffee, or go green with spinach?) yet staying around the same calories, In fact if I remember correctly it isn't far from Marie's mocha recipe. When I tried her recipe I used non-fat milk though.

45-Calorie Snack: The Strawberry Banana Almond Milk Smoothie
(as the name states, it could be used for a snack, a little "dessert" to get through the evening? Increase the calories by tossing in some whole grain cereal for more substance and you could call it breakfast.) You can always add powdered protein and fiber to most anything adding a few more calories. Good basic recipe.

Ingredients:
1 cup Ice
8 ounces Almond Breeze Vanilla-Flavored Almond Milk
1/4 cup Fresh Strawberries
1/4 cup Fresh Bananas
1 1/2 teaspoons Sugar

Place in blender in the above order.
First use the *Ice Crusher* setting until the ice is broken down and blended through.
Then switch to *Smoothie* setting for about 30 seconds.
Pour and serve!
Makes between 1-2 servings.
Nutrition Information: (Based on an 8 oz. serving) 45 calories

Renee3 04-02-2013 06:35 AM

Good morning everyone from a very chilly (23 degrees) PA. I am so ready for Spring! I am trying to stay away from the Easter candy, but I have a very bad sweet tooth....I can do this....I will do this! Waiting for the weather to warm up so I can start gardening. Hope you all have a great day!

glynne 04-02-2013 09:02 AM

Welcome Renee ~ to everyone else ~ forgot to set my alarm last night, so gotta get a move on ~ three days down, two to go.

Hope you all have a good day.

Take care

Bobbolink 04-02-2013 09:10 AM

Good Morning:coffee:
Most of our snow is melting and the robins are back, yipee!

Mary...I make similiar shakes for my noon meal. Been too busy to make my usually veggie soup for my lunches plus I'm really tired of them.

I peel a dozen bananas and separate them with sarah wrap or wax paper and throw in the freezer. I have used almond or soy milk but they don't make a very large shake. If you make them with powdered skim milk they double in size. I have a regular malted milk glass with straw that I use and can fill the glass up twice with only 8 oz. of skim milk. (You have to make the powdered milk up ahead of time so it's really cold) I don't know if store bought skim milk whips up like the powdered kind, never tried that.

Years ago people used to make a whipped topping with dried skim milk, so it's no wonder it whips up so nice in the blender. I used 8 oz. skim milk, frozen banana, vanilla or almond extract, stevia and 7 ice cubes. Sometimes I put carob powder in, sometimes frozen strawberries. Like you suggested Mary, fiber or protein powder can be added.

Renee...throw out the candy or give it to your neighbors. I can't remember which Golden girl only buys Halloween candy she doesn't like. Try that next year for Easter.

K3...not to worry, I was the one who called our new home a "CAT HOUSE'. We met the new neighbor a couple of days ago and she told us Karen left her cats and she has been feeding them. (Karen was the owner of the house but lost it to the bank.) Bruce thinks the cats have been living in the garage because of a small hole in the foundation of the garage. It's not attached to the house, the garage is a ways off from the house. The door is locked with a paddle lock so haven't looked in there yet. The bank will have to hire someone to cut it off. I'll bet that stinks of cat urine too, yuk! At least we can take bleach to that and hose it off if that's the case. We haven't taken possession of the place yet, the loan application will be taken care of today.

I'll bet you're all thinking, WHY ARE THEY BUYING IT? Think well built house with good bones, hardwood floors and fireplace. Outskirts of town with city water, dead end street (no traffic) and a huge woods in the back yard.

Cajun...computers are sooooooooooooo frustrating but how could we live without them.:comp: I usually play about 10 scrabble games on Facebook with random players but stopped because of all the upcoming work we'll be doing on the cat house. I was having withdrawal symptoms all day yesterday.

Donna/KarenMo...nope, no good news on our current home. They had a 1/2 page spread in Sundays newspaper on our home, hope that brings someone around.

Glynne...pretty soon you'll be able to take your walks around the parking lot with your grocery cart, no snow.

Rosey...I'm posting again like you, hope it keeps me from over eating. I still ate 3 corn muffins last night, I couldn't stop. The recipe called for 1/4 cup sugar, I was out of splenda, I was out of regular white sugar too. I substituted brown sugar and they were the best corn muffins, yum-0. I crossed out the 1/4 sugar on the corn meal package and wrote in brown sugar instead for future muffins.

I'm running out of time, hi to anyone I missed.

Rosey, sounds like you had a nice Easter with family too. And what a nice thing to do to present your grandson with a flag and to fly it until he safely returns. Wonderful. And of Course I will add him and your family to my prayer list.

Everybody seems to be pretty busy and I should be....but here I sit! I did do the dishes and need to do a few more things and also run to the store. Just kind of cloudy and drizzle rain today. Seems more like a curl up on the couch in front of the fire day!

Bobbi, we are all looking forward to your pictures.. I know you are anxious to get started..Have you started packing up your things yet? Such a job... we still have boxes packed that we moved here three years ago from Colorado... Just hard to let go of some stuff!!

Gayle, hope your day has gone well.

Donna, hope you and Samcat are doing great too.

Karen-- I would be scared to death to hear them crocs making the noises... Guess I'd probably never let Ginger and Sissy out by themselves!

Once again we did not get to the gym. We didn't get to the CU yesterday (to get money for taxes together in one account) so we did that today. Then we went to the IRS and paid directly rather than mailing it. Wanted to be sure they got it.:dizzy: It took longer to go through security than to actually pay. I forgot about security and when I realized it I told them right upfront that I had a manicure kit in my bag, but they kept seeing another item that looked like a knife. I knew I didn't have a knife and couldn't imagine what it was. They said it was floating around, not always in the same place:?: Made no sense to me, but anyway they finally found it deep down in one of the purse pockets...and it was a little foldable nail file about 3 inches long. I didn't even remember it was there.

At the CU I had to rearrange our accounts deciding where to put the money we have left. The interest is terrible (like nothing). Later I realized I could have put it in ING where a 360 Savings account is paying better. I might still do it...surely I wouldn't have to pay much penalty if I took it out right away:?: The penalty for removing some from the 3 year CD was only $17.

My new PT exercises are really making my arm hurt! I have 4 specically for my arm and eight for my back since I've started back, and I also try to do the rest of the ones for my back since I've been doing them already and they have helped. My shoulder blades have migrated back toward normal about 4 inches, so only 4 inches to go! Yes!! :carrot:I But they now want me to do them (back and arm)all 2-3 times a day so it is hard ot get to them all esp if I go to the gym and get anything else done too. I feel like I live to exercise!:dizzy:

Rosey - I have prayed for your boy. Let us know how he is doing.

Bobbi - Interesting about using the powdered milk for the smoothies. I haven't tried that. I have been eating way to much for too long now and my weight is slowly climbing. At least today I have tried harder to keep my eating spread out so my carbs are ok. I haven't taken my bs though. It was high yesterday. Bobbi, your house sounds nice despite the cats smell, but I was wondering about the sloping kitchen floor...wasn't that the house with that? What did you find out about that?

Karen3 - I think you have to be brave to live in Florida! I'm like Karen31, I'd be scared to death of the crocodiles. Do you have lots of snakes there too? One of the things I like about where I live now (after growing up in KS with nasty creatures like rattle snakes!) is that we supposedly don't have any poisonous snakes. Actually I haven't even seen a reptile of any kind in years and that's the way I like it.

jess1 04-02-2013 10:19 PM

Daily quick check-in, Goldens...

Rosey - my heart hurt with yours, to say good bye to your GS. I'll keep him in my prayers, that he'll be safe and home soon! I have such a soft spot for the military, such beautiful young people!

CK - I've been in my hour 28 years in July, and I still have stuff I haven't unpacked. In fact, I still have china and silver wedding gifts from my first wedding a thousand years ago! Whoever gets to go through that stuff when I die will feel like they're on an archeological expedition!

Mary - I hope the PT exercises start helping, instead of hurting you. Getting old SUCKS, so sayeth me!

KarenFL - I do remember your marathon Doc Martin! I finally HAD to move! I have lots more to watch, and I do love it! Did you watch "Call the Midwives" last night? Fab show!

Nothing to report. Work is busy, busy... the newbie is doing well, but it's slow. BossLady and I are both each doing the work of 1-1/2 people, and we're TIRED. If it weren't for DWTS, I'd consider sacking out right now, way early!

Have a good rest of the evening! Later, lovelies!

Bobbolink 04-03-2013 09:26 AM

This was sent to me this morning from a friend. I wish Minnesota would follow this lead.

Quote:

Great going, Florida . You set the stage for

Floridais the first state requiring drug testing to receive welfare!
Hooray for Florida !!!!
In signing the new law, Republican Gov. Rick Scott said, "If Floridians want welfare, they better make sure they are drug-free.

Those who fail a second time would be banned from receiving funds for three years!
Naturally, a few people are crying this isunconstitutional.
How is this unconstitutional ?
It's completely legal that every other working people have to pass drug tests in order to get a J-O-B which supports those on welfare!

Good Morning

KarenMo...we're not packing up or moving until our house sells. The house we purchased in town needs to be gutted. Actually, it's a good thing we won't be moving in because all the hardwood floors need to be sanded down and refinished. The kitchen will be gutted, all wood cabinets taken out, new flooring. The big family room with fireplace needs new carpet/flooring. Not sure which we'll put in. The bathroom had been remodeled so just needs paint. The house was built in 1945, my birthday year. It's well built with stucco walls, no cracks in the foundation, etc. It has a single garage built separate from the house, we'll tear that down and build a new double garage with a small work shop for Bruce. Lots to do.

Mary...no, we didn't buy that house with the slanted kitchen floor. The one we stole was a bank repo, the owner lost it. Unfortunate for them but it happens. We picked this up so cheap, would you believe $37,500? YUP! So we can afford to gut it and still end up with a lovely home. God has blesses us real good.

My menu from yesterday: same except I made butterilk bisquits instead of the corn meal muffins.

Bobbi - that bill was rejected by the Federal appeals Court. However, Kansas would like to test applicants AND elected officials. THAT I could get behind! I'd like to give the stinkin' politicians a taste of their own medicine!

Got a little rain overnight. I think Spring is on its way!

Cajunlady165 04-03-2013 10:05 AM

Good morning goldens,
It rained all night. I think we got about 3 inches. It's still raining. We were hoping it would stay dry to move ds house so the wouldn't cut ruts in the yard. Now we will have to wait for it to dry up.
I'm trying so hard to get back on my diet. I'm getting it in my head so hopefully it works. Sent all leftover desserts to mil. Now I need to get big booty up and walking. We are going to start painting mil house this weekend so that should help.

Karen fl~ after what happened to that fellow and his bedroom I'm sure that was scary. It seems like they would have closed the highway.

Hi Renee welcome. Give the Easter candy away. I have the leftover desserts away. I have a weekness for sweets.

Bobbi~ good luck with your new home. I bet you are excited. Post pictures when you can. I totally agree that all welfare people should be tested. You can bet 3/4 of the would fail. It irritates me to see them with everything free and their kids have name brand shoes and clothes and iPhones, not to mention driving new autos.

Rosy~ I know your heart is hurting and proud of your grandson all at the same time. I have 2 nephews that just came back from afganistan. It's a big worry for our soldiers. We will keep praying for their safe return. I love the flag idea. We put up a big yellow ribbon tied around my moms oak tree in her front yard.

Maryea~ sorry to hear about that arm still hurting. Hopefully with your exercise you will get relief.

Donna~maybe she will get the hang of it soon and pick up speed. They are cutting so many positions here at our hospital and the workload is extra heavy for the nurses. My ds left the medical field for NDE and is loving it. I was a little sad that he wasn't nursing anymore but he is so happy with the change he's made.

Gotta get busy I have a lot to do.

Hello to all I missed

Hugs
Cajun

Hi-

Well, Easter went okay I think. DS’s future in-laws are very nice. Also saw them on Saturday at charity hockey game DS was playing in. They lost the goalie last minute so my DH was asked to be the goalie at 9 a.m. He will be 65 in May! He was nervous. This team had never played together. It was just put together to play in this event which raised money for Wounded Warriors. They only lost by one point. As my DB said, “They were robbed!” Anyway, it was fire fighters and police. Good cause. I enjoyed finding out more about the charity and what I can do locally. The fiance - we now hug each other hello and good by. I initiated. She’s just not that interested in me - or anyone over 30 who is not family or long time family friend. It’s not personal. I actually find myself getting bored when I’m with here because I get minimal responses from any questions. She doesn’t tell me anything about the wedding. Neither does my son cuz he’s not that interested in the girly details.

My mother has been in bad shape since her third chemo treatment. Was in hospital from extremely high heart rate. They found she was very low in magnesium. That helped but she was still having afib and was in hospital for 5 days. Very weak - went to nursing care in her retirement community. Was hallucinating and delusional for a few weeks. Now, just mainly delusional. She thought I was her mother until this week. Her oncologist thinks she has to keep doing chemo. She has had 3 out of the 4 harsh ones she was supposed to have. May just go to the 4 milder ones. Then she has to have a mastectomy. This has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I am with her almost every day. She is a lot stronger now - it’s beem a month. See the doc on Friday. I am physically and mentally depleted. Gotta go. Gonna send this- computer problems…can’t find the post I started yesterday. I’ll get back later. Welcome to new people. Hugs to all!

glynne 04-03-2013 11:28 PM

Good evening GG's,

Yippee ~ made it through that stretch of days at work ~ they were pretty good days ~ for me ~ for the nurses, not so sure. Have been getting out pretty much on time lately. What a mood booster that is.

Last evening was such a nice evening. I got home and DD Sara and the kids were here and DS Jason. Love it when they are all here ~ having a good time ~ laughing and visiting. Such a happy sound. I don't get to see DS very much as our hours/schedules don't work out that we can get together very often. So, I especially enjoy getting a chance to see him.

Hope you all are doing well and have a good rest tonight.

Take care

Good morning everyone from a chilly PA (26 Degrees) The weather is going to warm up after today, so I can finally get out in the garden....time to plant radishes, spinach, lettuce and swiss chard. I love fresh veggies and working outside....come on Spring!

Bobbolink 04-04-2013 09:12 AM

Good Morning
Renee...now you're making me jealous, planting already? I've never had swiss chard before, we just starting eating kale after a Dr. Oz episode. Our local stores only carry the curly kale, I see on the food channel they also have flat kale. What do you do with swiss chard?

Rosey...sorry about your friend, I do miss my mom but not my dad. He wasn't a very nice person to me while growing up. (think jerk).
I see you made potato salad, sounds springy and now I want some. Either that or macaroni salad. P.S. Prayers for Tim.

Mary...have you tried the powdered skim milk shake yet? I have zucchini thawed out for some veggies soup, will make a big batch for future lunches.

K3...I got me a gun, where should we meet? My gun shoots darts of happiness and good memory!

Thanks Glynne...I did have a great nights rest, same to you.

Donna...Booooooooooo on the rejected bill on drug testing.
I can't believe you have china and silver packed away, why don't you sell it on ebay?

Dee...take a deep breath and do one day at a time. You need to stay strong for everyone, including yourself.

Cajun...consider painting MIL house a great exercise that will burn calories. When you're hungry, fill up on veggies.

Hello ladies,
Its the most dreary day we've had in a long time. More rain and chilly. Nasty wind.
I called the mobile company that ds ordered his house from. They said it will be here the early part of next week. She told me that when they use floated sheet rock it takes a little longer. We are anxious to see it. We won't be able to move it until it dries up and they are giving big chances of rain again next week. It's been dry for awhile and you would know it's wet now.
I'm having a good week back on my food plan. I'm hoping I can keep it up.

Deelee~I'm glad your Easter went ok at the future in laws. They say kindness kill. Keep giving it to future dil and if she is ugly son will notice. Maybe one day she will come to love you. I'm so sorry to hear your mother is so ill. She's so lucky to have such a loving daughter. I have no daughters and if my sons take care of me when I'm old like my dh takes care of his mom I will be blessed too.

Karenfl~hope your having a better day than yesterday. Uhmmm you still with us right. Didn't get your hands on a gun? Hope not. Lol.

Gayle~I'm glad your work is going better. I had both my lil chicken and their girls with us the whole weekend. It was fun and such a good feeling that they wanted to be with us too. I enjoy my family so much.

Rosey~ sorry to hear about your friends mom. I know how you feel. It's been a year I lost my dad and the pain is still so raw. This Easter he was very much missed by all of us.

Renee~i wish I could grow a garden. My thumb is so not green. I kill everything I touch. Houseplants are the worse. Lol

Bobbi~I'm hoping the house painting will help me jumpstart my weightless again. Keep my mind off of food too.

Hello to all I missed.
Hugs

Bobbi...swiss chard has a milder taste than spinach...I like it better and it's very easy to grow

I'll soon be leaving for PT, so will see if I can keep this fairly brief, instead of a book. I finally got to the gym this morning, but only did my cardio. I feel so out of shape and get a bit dizzy if I do much but hopefully that will improve as I get more used to it again and my arm heals. Yes, my arm still hurts but I think it is better...just responding to the exercises mostly now. We stopped for a few groceries on the way home but have been resting (me online!) since we got home. Dh has a doctors appt today at the same time I have PT and in the same building which is convenient.

Trying to do better on my diet as I see my weight climbing almost each day! Such a large part of it for me is keeping my priorities straight and staying focused and I'm rebellious when it comes to feeling like I have to do or eat or be somewhere every day at a certain times, even when it's something I enjoy etc.:?: Still dealing with that inner child but it is time to grow up and realize that the rewards will be worth it! So far this year I have been a very rebellious child, I hate it but it's the truth and I have to face it. I honestly feel better when I'm more disciplined, but for some reason, I also allow myself to get distracted from it:(

Cajun - we are back to cooler, cloudy weather too. No rain yet but it's suppose to start again.

Bobbi - Oh good about not getting the slanting house! I guess I missed that. $37000!! Wow that is a wonderful price....I might consider moving if we could find a little house with a small yard for that price!! Can't imagine. We are just hoping that if we someday decide to move we can find something smaller for the same price as we sell for. Th is house is very comfortable it does not feel too big to us. Actually sometimes it feels crowded which means we have too much junk I guess as it is plenty big enough for the two of us. I like having extra space in case the kids come home but they rarely do and mostly it's just us filling up the space.:dizzy: The problem (or could be soon) is that our yard is too big and likely too much to care for as we age. No, I haven't tried the powered milk yet. None on hand and I didn't think to buy it. Veggie soup sounds good.

Running out of time...you all have a good day!

ETA: Just looked out the window and our usual drizzle has begun!

Still a bit forgetful and whiny....was sitting here posting when DH reminded me that my 4:30 appt was in 5 MINUTES! Hummmm yup I was late and lost my post, too. So just accept I wrote all about you all 'cause I can't remember what I posted!

Bobbi... I spit coffee all over pc with the happy gun! Thanks. 35K for a whole house is unbelievable...double wow!

Donna...gonna go to England to see the site where Doc is shot with me?

Don't worry, folks, about me...if I shot me I'd hit my foot....can do nothing right past 3 days.

I have walked alot today and my knees are talking to me. I sit quiet and feel so good and then stand up and both knees grate bone on bone and it takes a minute to settle before I can step off. Oh for an Aleve...sighhhh. Sorry for the whine but thats me this week. k3

Good Morning, my menu yesterday:
Quote:

Breakfast:
Fiber One, Flax & Chia seeds
4 oz. Applesauce with Cinnamon/Stevia
Vanilla Yogurt, fat free (homemade)

Lunch:
banana skinny shake

Supper:
Roast Pork Loin
Tomato/zucchini/mozzerella side dish
Riced potato (1/4 cup maybe)

Evening snack:
Carob pudding
SF/FF Cool Whip

We did get a great buy on the cat house, it was a bank repo and they wanted to move it. They had $39,900 on it, we offered 34,900 and settled for $37,500. BUT, we have to gut the kitchen, put in all new windows besides the painting/refurbishing of the floors. It's only a single garage away from the house, we're going to bull doze it in and build a new double garage. We're still coming out way ahead since we got the house so cheap.

Later gators!

Good deal on the house Bobbi!! What a Great Find!! Still looking forward to seeing pictures..

Hello ladies
It's sunny and cool but beautiful and so is my mood. It's been so gloomy the last few days. I needed sunshine. We had company for supper last night. We sat on the patio and built a fire in the outside fireplace. It was very nice. Company didn't leave until 10 20. I was so cold I couldn't sleep. I saw the midnight hour for 2 night in a row. Up at 5 am. I'm running on fumes. Dh and I are going get brushes and rollers tonight at lows. My painting starts tomorrow.
Ds is going to the dr this morning. I made the appt yesterday and he didn't complain. He's really sick. Bad sore throat fever and chest pain due to coughing. Probably bronchitis.
I asked dh to hide the pecan pie I made yesterday for our company. He told me just throw it out if it's going to bother you. I told him I didn't need his sarcasm just do what I asked. So when I got up this morning he must have hid it because it wasn't there and no bowl in sight. NO IM NOT GOING TO LOOK FOR THAT DESSERT!!! :/

Bobbi~ will y'all do the work yourself or get carpenters? How long will it be before you move in?

Karenfl~ glad you are still with us. Lol.

Maryea~ it's so hard to get back on track after fudging on the diet. Like you I'm still trying. I'm glad your arm is a bit better.

Work calls.

Hello to all I missed.

Hugs
