  • Thanks Kris and Rob! It is nice being able to share with others who completely understand the situation. Thanks for those words of wisdom on how you have dealt with a similar situation. Today was a little better. I did get to exercise which is always good for stress. Plus I had a little more time for eating at a slower pace to relax and actually chew up my food rather than just swallowing it down. Good for you Kris on your persistence! Your doing good. Rob how are you doing?
  • I'm doing well today, thank you! I had a low carb woosh today and lost 2.6 lbs yesterday to today, down to 225. I have 8 days to post new progress pics on my blog, and I was worrying that I wouldn't have any improvement. Now I have an opportunity to exceed my goal this month (2lbs per week). I know that I'll hit a wall at some point, but for now things are going well. How is everyone today? It's really cold here in New England!
  • Wow, Rob, that's great! Keep up the good work. You will get there before you realize it. Hope you can see that progress too. Keep going.
  • Quote: I don't usually exercise after work but I have been hopping on the treadmill the minute I get home. My job is stressful in that I feel I'm not being very effective and there's too many areas to cover and I keep getting sidetracked. Before I know it, it's getting dark and I have to get to my car before it is dark so I can't work any longer. Hopping on the treadmill is getting rid of the stress of the day and helps me to sleep better. And actually today I felt like I was making some headway at work so I did feel more on top of things. Persistence!
Kris2008 I know exactly how you feel about being stressed and feeling ineffective at work, I'm in the same boat. Sometimes I come home and just eat because I don't feel like I made much of a difference and didn't get much done. I'm trying to lose that feeling and will try to jump on my treadmill instead of fretting after work today..

So far I haven't had a bad week...I lost 2 pounds but gained one back..and I think I can lose it again if I just do some exercise like the treadmill this evening.

    Have a good day all!
  • Thanks, Corrina! If I can bump off 3 lbs in the next 8 days, that will give me 10 lbs off for January.

Kris2008/WebWoman - I tend to get down from the stress at work as well. More responsibilities and less resources. I used to have 15 employees work for me, now I've been assigned and additional 14. Lots of administration associated with this increase. My escape from that stress is working out at night. I'll put a music dvd on , or watch a movie while I work out, and that is usually enough for me to decompress. So I agree with you both, excercise at night has multiple benefits.

    Rob
  • Hey Webwoman, glad to see you back in the group! Keep on that treadmill. You are right on the borderline teetering between that one pound and two pound loss. I know which one you want it to be, so don't stop now. You are sooo close......go for two, go for two, you can do it, go for two!!
  • Things are frigid in the Northeast again! My progress has been going well, so I've adjusted my target from 190 to 185. Not a huge difference, but I fully intend on hitting a wall somewhere along the road. I've cut out beer/wine during the week completely, and have been trying to get my carbs solely from veggies. It's interesting, since I have 3 young children, that I'm not tempted by their snacks at all. I can be sitting next to my son while he has an ice cream cone, and it doesn't phase me. It could be that it's FREEZING here, but I prefer to think of it as I'm not tempted! :-)

I hope that everyone is doing well today!

    Rob
  • Hi guys,

My weigh-ins are Fri mornings, and I lost 3 pounds this week!!! I gave it a last push with some treadmill and a Zumba workout and really watched portions for 2 days. My goal next week is to get below 160. :-)

Rob, great that you adjusted your goal! If you can resist ice cream, you're on your way!

    Andi
  • Hi Andi,

That's awesome! I'm a clock watcher on a treadmill, so I appreciate that last push on the treadmill. Good luck with your goal for next week!

    Rob
  • Congratulations Andi & Rob! You both are doing great. I have lost 8 pounds since the start of January, so that is about 2 pounds a week. I hope to keep that pattern.

Ice Cream is definitely my #1 weakness. I guess it if was cold out, that would help curb my hunger for it. When it is hot out, it sounds delicious. I did eat some cool watermelon this week. That tasted great. Rob, I think its great that you can sit right next to the ice cream and not be tempted by it.
  • Corinna, losing 2 lbs a week is fantastic. Looks like we're off to a fast 2013. Let's keep it going!

    Rob
  • I think I found my perch!
May I join in here.....I am in the extremely cold Tundra of the Northeast...you can't go outside to exercise now although if it warms up today there will be some "die hard" out there jogging. I love to jog too....but (heart/lungs) can't take the cold. So I just bought a treadmill. I do go to the gym and I get driven pretty easy but not when the weather is so cold it hurts to get out of your car and run to the gym!
I do find I don't stay on my treadmill long enough at home....I am constantly finding something else to do and jumping off it. I need to stop that or it will be a very ineffective workout.
I have about 30 pounds to loose. I have lost 70 on the South Beach Diet about 6 years ago. I have over this past summer/fall put 15 back on and my clothes are getting tighter and tighter.
I have to get serious. I do need the motivation of a group and would like to join in here with you all!
  • Welcome!
    Hi Sharemenu,

Welcome aboard! I'm in the northeast as well, and it's been frigid. Good news is we're supposed to warm up to nearly 50 degrees this week. Staying on the treadmill is hard. I know that I had lots of struggles staying on (my treadmill has since broke and is gone) it. For me, it was because I found it boring. Now I have an eliptical in its place, which is equally as boring for me, but it's set up in front of a tv. It makes the time go much faster and makes the session more tolerable. What diet are you on?

    Rob
  • I need to do this now!
I posted but I don't see it. Anyway, new (or returning) a few years later.
I have always battled 30# on my body. 6 years ago I was at my all time high and lost 70 pounds. I looked and felt great. I maintained it pretty good but in the winter I tend to put on 15# despite the fact I still have about 15 left to get off over summer and never quite succeed at. Maybe my body will never go back to 130...lol....but I will never stop trying!
So right now I am getting depressed over this weight gain. I need to loose 30# to feel good and need the support of others....So hopefully I can be supportive as well. Just got done with 15 min on the treadmill. I find it boring but necessary and will pick away at it until I get an hour in today.
  • Hi Rob. Yes looking forward to the "Heat Wave"
that is coming! I'm further North than you and am told it will be about 40...and we are suppose to get some rain....gosh I may even get to go out and jog!
