Hello all,

Week 1 :flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1: Week 2 :flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::flow1::1/2::(

Week 3 (:dizzy:/:():flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::dunno::mad: Week 4 :mad: :( :flow1::flow1: :dunno: :( :(

Week 5 :flow1::flow1:

Week 1 (exercise) :swim::D :D :) 0 0 :D Week 2 :D

Kind of achy and head achy tonight ~ thank goodness for choices. If walking was my only choice, I would have ended up doing nothing. But, I wanted so badly to do something so I could build on my habit of exercising ~ I decided I could tolerate riding my bike for 15 minutes. I was enjoying it so much (because it wasn't as horribly hot tonight as it is sometimes) that I kept going and did 1/2 hour.

Amarantha2 06-20-2012 09:59 AM

Huzzah, all!

Glynne: Great work on the bike ride. Your little flower line-up is lookin' so good! Woot!

Deelee: Congratulations on being five pounds down! Woot! That is great! I do that two up/two down thingie, too. It is frustrating, but I do find it gets it off eventually and your experience is proof. You'll ace that six pounds!

Marie: Congrats on the realization about logging finances.

I do feel better, thank you. Spending that sum on A/C DID make me eat eat eat but I am over it lol.

My cals yesterday were slightly less than the day before but nothing to write home 'bout. Ended eating day very late at 2105. Did a second session of exercise also to get my weight lifting in because it was Tuesday.

Very excited about my pending career change (ok, not really a change right now but going to take classes and an important exam that will help me make the change. Going to be very busy for several months as also just keeping the one client I now have and that takes a lot of time. Not wanting to discuss this further, not sure why I am even sayin' anything but have been talking about career to everyone lately lol.

REALLY going to hocus pocus focus focus on the calories for the rest of the week, but first going back to bed as working tonight and slept NOT AT ALL last night.

Have a great day, all!

Marie 06-20-2012 07:55 PM

Gayle, way to go on enjoying the bike enough to double your exercise. That is such a great step forward.

Am2, I’m now quite curious about the career change but as I don’t know what your current career is…

Today was a day of driving over the mountain for the semi-annual breast ultrasound. It is a beautiful day and that made the drive pleasant. The appointment was quick and that was great. I went to Costco and didn’t try any sample. I didn’t bring a lunch and was starving. I was trying to think of a place for lunch that wouldn’t burn through my calories since I wanted SBUX after the appointment. Then I saw the string cheese. I bought a package and had 3 of those for 240 calories and a few of the amazingly delicious dark cherries that were in my cart. How about that for a healthy lunch. Then the appt was so quick that I realized I could get home and make my own mocha early enough in the afternoon. Way cheaper $$$ wise as well as calorie wise. So when I got home, I ellipticalled and am now enjoying my iced mocha. I will finish the day at 1387 calories. Woots!
Marie

Hello all,

Week 1 :flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1: Week 2 :flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::flow1::1/2::(

Week 3 (:dizzy:/:():flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::dunno::mad: Week 4 :mad: :( :flow1::flow1: :dunno: :( :(

Week 5 :flow1::flow1::flow1:

Week 1 (exercise) :swim::D :D :) 0 0 :D Week 2 :D :D

I didn't want to exercise tonight, but I made myself. Walked 15 minutes on the treadmill. I have never felt before that the exercise helped much, but lately, I do feel less achy the next morning and maybe not quite as stiff ~ I'll take it. For now ~ that is what is keeping me going.

maryea 06-22-2012 01:14 AM

Sorry I've been missing recently...just got too busy, didn't keep the main thing the main thing and got off track. My weight quickly jumped up to 170 again of course, in fact one day it was 171!! But yesterday I did a little better and it was 170 today. But it really isn't that much of a differnce as I routinely flucuate a lot. I'll have to lose at least 10# before I'll feel a little safer with the flucuations and I know that really I will always have to stay on plan even if/when I reach my goal. That's just the way it is. I have to stick to my plan and not let anything get in the way.

I have been OP today....1319 and 12 carb serv. Usual workout. It was a beautiful day!! Tonight after church they surprised us with root beer floats and they had sugar free as well as the regular so I was able to indulge!! Yea! :D

Marie - Great decisions at Costco!! No samples...hard to imagine me doing that, but I'll consider it. LOL I am out of my mocha mix and have been trying to get along without it until I need more than that from Costco. I think it's good for me to know I don't HAVE to have it...;) Good for you on the recent insight. I agree with you about reading while walking on the treadmill. Not sure I could stick to even 15 min a day if it weren't for my little Kindle!! I get so focused on my book that sometimes when dh tells me the time is up I don't want to stop! :D Esp since the next part is the weight machines and I can't read then. :^:

Deelee - I try to focus on carbs but sometimes I get distracted if I have lots of calories left and get to thinking I can still eat. Trying to focus on the carbs as that way usually I eat less calories plus keep my bs good. I don't really count fats (in my head) but they are part of the nutrients I track in MFP and I try to keep an eye on them. It is so easy to go over on fats and for a diabetic they are not good for sure. Today I was under on my fats by 2 but that is often not the case. Congrats on your weight loss...since I do that 2 up and 2 down thing I hope it leads me back down again too!

Glynne - You're on the right path, just keep it up. I'm glad you are beginning to see some positive results from the exercise. From my stretching classes I used to really notice more flexibility. I don't notice much difference from the cardio and strength workouts but I know they are good for my body in general so I'm doing them for that reason. I tell myself it is my gift to my body to make up for all the abuse I've given it by overeating and not exercising in the past.

You're all doing great...keep up the good work. Don't be like me...and I'll try and copy you..

Amarantha2 06-22-2012 09:04 AM

Huzzah!

Feeling so happy today for some reason, resolving a lot of issues in my wee brain and focusing on priorities! Cals yesterday were 1350, my streak is continuing and this is day 191 of my countdown backwards to the Sunday following the Winter Solstice. I have named that Sunday MY GOAL DAY! Hope to reach the goal earlier than that but life happens lol.

This is GOING TO BE DAY 2 of my 10-day challenge to do as little as 5 minutes (or more) of yoga daily and I did do that yesterday and log as part of the streakity streak.

Marie: I am a former newspaper editor/reporter and now work for a municipality. I am changing my career slowly in the direction of real estate and I need the required onsite classes before I can take the license exam. Your driving home lunch does sound healthy and delicious. I need to buy some of those little string cheese thingies.

Glynne: Congrats on the victory of not really feeling like doing the exercise and doing it anyway! Woot! Your little flowers look so cheerful!

Maryea: Huzzah on that good cal count yesterday! I struggle with keeping the cals exactly where I want them (lol, I always want to eat more). Fluctuations are frustrating, I bounce around a lot, too. You are doing great! Woot!

Bye for now, all!

:cool:

Marie 06-22-2012 11:39 AM

Gayle, I’m so happy for you that you’re finding exercise helping with the stiffness and aches. I firmly believe that you’ll want to exercise soon as it just makes one feel so much better. Our bodies are meant to move.

Mary, do you swap back and forth between your kindle and iPad (with the kindle app)? I like indoor reading on my ipad better because it is bigger. Especially on the elliptical as I don’t have to turn the page as often. But I really like the kindle for outdoor reading (why I bought it) and for always having in my purse. I love the whispersync so that I always am at where I stop no matter which device I’m using.

Am2, ok, I’ll be one day behind but I will join you on the yoga streakity streak. I do not like stretching but I so very need to. So today I will do my yoga routine that I’d done for about 4 months before my surgery. I’ve been pathetic about getting back into it. I did it once last week. But today day I will start a 9 day streak and we’ll goad each other into it.

Calories and exercise are good. 1494 cals but I did have a 93/7 thin bun burger with laughing cheese. That cost me 300 cals but it was DIVINE. I usually don’t like much meat but occasionally a BBQ hits the spot. So far this morning I have had half of my 156 cal mocha. Since I forgot about my string cheese until Am2 mentioned it, that sounds like a great breakfast. I did go to the grocery yesterday and haven’t entered the $$$ into Quicken but I will do that next. Yay, I’m getting back in control of that. I’m off today but more working from home. I like that so much better. I walked the doggies but my lower back is sore for some reason. Another reason to get back to the yoga routine. So off I go to do the $$$, then the elliptical and then the yoga.
Marie

Marie 06-22-2012 01:49 PM

:yoga: I did it. Day one of my leaching onto Am2's streak. After I ellipticalled, I did my 10 minute yoga workout. I would never admit that it felt good. ;)

The elliptical workout was the hard one - the HIIT intervals. I pushed and pushed and made my minimum distance by .001 miles. That works for me. Now my legs are exhausted and I'm sweating up a storm.

And I even reconciled my checking account. DH hasn't even picked up my prescriptions but I entered that transaction. I'm so getting into being financially and caloric vigilant. A much better use of my mania. :D
Marie

Amarantha2 06-22-2012 07:53 PM

Woot! So great that you are also doin' a yoga streak, Marie! I am the same, I don't really like stretching ... or rather, I guess I like it when I do it consistently and start feeling better, but I resist it. I love yoga for its many benefits both physical, emotional and on every level of my life, but totally resist it as well. I just got done doing my own routine with some soothing music and it was nice but I am too relaxed.

My streakity today is thusly:

FRIDAY, June 22, 2012, Day 271 of streakity streak of no day missed of daily exercise, 90 min walk, 15 min yoga, total streakity streak minutes so far 20,490 (Previous: 288 consecutive days of exercise, 18000 exercise minutes!)

Re cals I am ending the eating day at 1565 and know it will be just like last night in which I will have no problem not eating anything else. I was like this last night, even after a three hour meeting that stressed me out.

I was going to work today, just really needed a rest day, though, so did pretty much nothing. The day was a blur lol.

Have a great night, challengers!

Amarantha2 06-23-2012 09:33 AM

Did eat a bit more after posting last evening, didn't expect to but that's life. Ended at 2180.

Traveling today to say good-bye to two old friends, so was up early to exercise and work some on the paying the bill stuff, ready to leave the house in a bit.

This is Day 190 of countdown to the holiday know as MY GOAL DATE! Feeling very focused. The streakity is thusly:

SATURDAY, June 23, 2012, Day 272 of streakity streak of no day missed of daily exercise, 60 min walk, 15 min yoga, total streakity streak minutes so far 20,565 (Previous: 288 consecutive days of exercise, 18000 exercise minutes!)

Hope everyone has a good day.

Marie 06-23-2012 12:49 PM

Am2, I'm sorry you're having to say goodbye to two of your friends. That is hard. Bummer on the evening eating but it is life and if you enjoyed it, then regrets shouldn't play into the scheme.

I finished the day under 1500 cals so I was happy. This morning I rode my bike on the fluid trainer because DH is sick and it is raining, even in Redding where we had planned to bike. So I watched an Elton John concert and pedaled. Then I did the :yoga: routine. So I'm up to :yoga: :yoga: Progress. Just one day and my right hip didn't hurt at all last night while I was sleeping. Why or why do I fight doing it so much???? Good thing I have Am2 to get me on a streak. Did the yucky chore of the day and made my bathroom spotless. DH can do his own. :)
Marie

maryea 06-23-2012 01:24 PM

I didn't get back here last night but I did great all day but then ate too much last evening...think I went about 2-300 over probably. My weight was the same this morning though.

Marie - glad the exercise helps but know how hard it is to do when you hurt.
I didn't hurt as much last night either. Glad you are being diligent with finances and calorie counting. I NEVER reconcile a check book..haven't for years. But I use YNAB (a budgeting program) and enter our transactions in there and it keeps everything in balance for me. I can also download the transactions from the banks/CC but I prefer to enter them myself to keep me in touch more and only download when I'm off. As long as I do that I just check the accounts most days and have no need to reconcile beyond that. We rarely write a check, but we use cash and debit/credit cards.

I'm loving My Fitness Pal! I continue to be amazed at the large database of foods it has! I have only had to enter 3 foods of my own as everything else has been there.

Amarantha2 06-23-2012 08:10 PM

Well, back from my little day trip errand and calories stand at 1680 right now and have eaten dinner. Not hungry but again not sure if that will hold. Overall, my cals are just too high so not sure how the weigh-in will come out tomorrow but whatever, will be sloggin' on with the diet.

Marie, thanks for the condolence.

Re the evening eating, yea, no regrets. I regret a lot in life but eating is never one of them. Eating is a good thing, it is fundamental to humans and animals and top of the list of things that make us happy ... or most of us. Some people dislike eating or are afraid of it or use starving themselves to meet some sad emotional need, but I'm not in that camp.

The only thing about eating with me is I need to do better at making it healthier and watch amounts more closely.

NO MORE DONUTS!

Well, maybe ...

Good job on the yoga! Woot! I am starting to get into it more now. I always do when I get past my resistance to it.

Maryea, glad you are enjoying My Fitness Pal. I think it is good also and if I get tired My Net Diary, MFP would be next in line for me, unless I find something else.

I enjoy tracking things and have tried pretty much every diet and fitness tracker that has come down the pike.

Woot to all, mentioned and un-!!! :wave:

glynne 06-23-2012 09:08 PM

Hello all,

This post is for Thursday, Friday and today.

Week 1 :flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1: Week 2 :flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::flow1::1/2::(

Week 3 (:dizzy:/:():flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::dunno::mad: Week 4 :mad: :( :flow1::flow1: :dunno: :( :(

Week 5 :flow1::flow1::flow1: :( :( :1/2:

Week 1 (exercise) :swim::D :D :) 0 0 :D Week 2 :D :D 0 0 :D

I had a frustrating day on Thursday and didn't do so well, then Friday, didn't feel so good (probably because of my bad choices on Thursday) and so I didn't do so well that day either. Back on track today pretty much ~ gave myself a 1/2 because I went over on my points a little ~ gave in to munching even though I counted it all. I sort of feel like I am making progress a little. It feels like when I get off track, I get back on track more quickly. Eating junky stuff makes me feel yucky. It didn't used to do that as much. Maybe this is a good thing.

maryea 06-24-2012 12:48 AM

1581 calories and almost 12 carb serv. We ate out at Costco today. I got a hot dog. Realized afterwards I probably should have only eaten half, but I still did pretty good today. I have a new recipe book from the company that sends us our diabetic supplies and so far we have liked 2 out of the 3 recipes I've tried. They are pretty low carb so it helps me. I even made a dessert from it tonight but it was the one I didn't like. I was actually kind of glad about that. ;)

One of the things I like about MFP is that when I enter my own recipes in it, it not only shows the total calories (as I enter the ingredients) but it also shows me the calories per serving. Its great software!

No exercise today being Sat.

glynne 06-24-2012 08:37 AM

I signed up for My Fitness Pal this morning. You like it Mary, and Am2 you spoke of it also, so I thought maybe I would give it a try. I sure need help ~ all the help I can get. I had a disappointing weigh in this morning. I didn't lose any. I stayed the same ~ I guess I should be thankful for that. I did mess up on Thursday and Friday ~ not horribly so, but it seems that I can not mess up even the tiniest little bit. :( I went back to trying hard to do the weight watchers (I had been successful with that before) ~ measured and tracked every thing.

Amarantha2 06-24-2012 01:17 PM

I had a maintain this week and am really happy with that as have been just a hair too high with calories most days this week. Really thought I had gained as again I ate more last night after declaring my eating day ended, which is something I always do, if only to myself. So am feeling quite wootish with the scale and going to really watch this week as I have one more week before I start the real estate classes and I want to feel peppy, which losing a little weight would help with.

Gayle, think you will love MFP! Congratulations on your maintain. I know you said you were disappointed but as stated above, I'm ECSTATIC with mine.

We'll get 'em next time BIG TIME! I want a nice big loss so am going to stick like glue to my plan, or rather I think I am going to go to My Net Diary and rewrite it a bit, lower the calories, even though IF I stuck to my stated calorie average, I would lose more weight.

Maryea, congrats on your consistency and how well you do with those carbs. Huzzah!

I do recipes on the My Net Diary iPhone app that I use the most. I have the software online and also the iPad app and they synch but I use the phone the most. Yea, I love having recipes and meal groupings just to plug in.

I used to love Fitday PC. It's not the free online version. I have bought it and downloaded it into every computer I had for years. Then all of a sudden when I tried to buy a new copy, it was very weird and I couldn't get a copy. They also have a phone app but it got horrible reviews. It is a shame as I really liked that software, but anyhow, life goes on lol.

See ye all! I worked on documents for my job all morning as I don't eat until brunch on Sundays (lifetime habit, not a weight control measure) and right before brunch is my optimal and most stable weight so I ceremoniously get on the scale, eat brunch and then bag whatever I am working on for the job and have a quiet day alone and shopping and sleeping lol until Monday morning.

Heavens, I am HAPPY I didn't gain.

They tell us the scale should not rule our moods but mine does lol.

Marie 06-24-2012 04:58 PM

Am2 and Gayle, :carrot: on maintaining. I figure everything that isn't a gain is a victory.

I think it's cool we all use an electronic logging toy for our journal. I can't imagine hand writing it anymore. I love loseit since I've had it for over 3 some years and all my foods are in it. I only track calories but I know I could set it for the full nutritionals. I just don't care about anything but the cals.

Now exercise yet today. I will be doing the :yoga: as I have my tiny streak going. :) Don't really know about much more since DS, DIL, DGD and DGS are coming over in a couple minutes. And they tend not to leave until I kick them out. I wish they'd get that if I didn't ALWAYS have to tell them to leave, I'd invite them over more. I have tried subtle and it doesn't work. It is what it is...
Marie

Amarantha2 06-24-2012 08:14 PM

I also love logging on my electronic devices, so much easier than when I did Fitday PC in my computer and had a huge file in there because I keep records so long. I also used to do handwritten logs in journal form and saved them all. I liked doing that but I was never totally accurate because of scrawling numbers when I was tired or whatever. I currently do keep some old-fashioned spreadsheets in my PC that I use to generate numbers that I want but don't really get from either LoseIt, MPF or My Net Diary.

Hmmm, yes, I'm obsessed with diet and fitness. Just had this talk with a friend about why I want to lose a little before starting the real estate classes. She said, correctly, that weight would have nothing to do with how well I do in the classes (which isn't an issue, as I will do well lol). But there are a lot of reasons why I choose a specific weight. For one thing, I am developing joint problems and every single pound off a joint makes me feel better and helps me remain active. There are a zillion more reasons.

So hope I do not sound obsessed here, lol, but I am.

I did adjust my food calorie level downward in My Net Diary. I loved my maintain and agree that a maintain is a victory, just ready for a bit more action lol.

I still have dinner and snack to eat and am going to bed early but feel confident I can make my new goal. :wave:

Marie 06-25-2012 09:58 PM

Am2, don't feel bad about being obsessed. So am I. The only times I convince myself it is best to not be obsessed is when I regain some weight. If I'm obsessed I maintain or lose. Much better option.

:yoga: :yoga: :yoga: :yoga: Gayle the yoga smilies are for you. Four days of the most boring exercise on earth. But I do feel so much better.

Too many calories yesterday but I knew that would happen. I ended the day at about 1650. Bummer. Loseit had me in the red as I only did the yoga. Today again will be about 1650 but I hiked, elliptical led and mini yogaed. So I'm not in the red. Sad part is frustration with work drove me to eat some junk. I knew it was and I do regret it. At least I regret the reason. I don't really mind the additional calories. And they did taste good. ;)
Marie

maryea 06-26-2012 01:34 AM

Not so good again today because 1. I ate restaurant leftovers (high cal) for lunch and 2. I had two afternoon snacks for some reason..bad decision. At least I did well this evening.
Today's calories were 1897 and 14 carb serv.

redjb7 06-26-2012 01:53 PM

It has been about two weeks since I "rejoined" here, - not so good on eating the first week, but I am finally getting back in the hang of eating better this week - every day gets a little better - especially now I am really keeping track and paying attention not to just calories, but fiber, vitamins, etc. Every time I put in a value for some chocolate, etc I can see in numbers what it is taking away from my nutrition!
I have been escalating my workouts a little. I was sick with a cold the first week so could only do the recumbant bike, but now I am back to the gym doing the elliptical in the morning for 50 to 60 minutes, and then trying to workout on the bike for at least a half hour in the evening. I am trying to incorporate weights, but that is not as much fun - have to make myself.
People here have been talking about myfitness pal I have it on my iphone, but haven't used it yet - still use fitday. Have to teach an old dog new tricks!
I love reading through the posts here - there is so much good advice and great ideas.

maryea 06-26-2012 11:28 PM

I know I have overeaten again today. I started out well but with the children here I tend to eat whatever they eat and more. We haven't eaten unhealthy things but I just have eaten too much. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I haven't tracked well so don't know how much I got.

Amarantha2 06-27-2012 07:39 AM

Lol, also overate on Tuesday, and had done so on Monday.

Playing around with raising the calorie budget again. Think I went too low and lost focus when things got hectic in life.

My streak is intact because of 15 minutes of yoga Tuesday but will up that with some walking today; haven't been feeling really great for a few days, a lot going on, up early to meet a friend to walk soon. WOot!

Marie 06-27-2012 11:27 AM

Red, sounds like your workouts are going great. If fitday is working for you, I wouldn't change. I think it's just all the same with a few different tweaks. I'm happy with LoseIt and won't change because it trackes my calories and that's all I need. Since you're losing, stick iwth what works for you.

Mary, I tend to overeat with my grandson around. We have to do better. Both of us.

Am2, sadly I lost my 4 day yoga streak yesterday. So I must start over again. But I don't think I can do 9 days of boredom exercising straight. I will try again but I will be happy if I stick to 3 days per week and keep it going. At least you got me started again.

I've been too high the last 3 days, aroudn the 1650 range. Certainly not bad but not great. OK, I just added dinner into yesterdays log and I lied. I was at 1377. Now I don't feel nearly so bad! :)
Marie

redjb7 06-27-2012 07:45 PM

Just curious about the yoga- are you all doing it in classes or with a tape? If so do you have one you could recommend? (OK, I am talking old school again - you are probably using Wii?)

Amarantha2 06-27-2012 10:47 PM

Marie, I have been on and off yoga for years, always loving it but just falling off the wagon with it. It doesn't bore me, but I think sometimes, oddly, I resist the benefits it invariably offers me. Sometimes it makes me too relaxed, I guess. I am not good at relaxing lol.

Red, I don't have a Wii lol so I am old school, too. I have done yoga in classes, from books and DVDs, but mostly these days I just do my own practice in my little gym room or out on the trail, when I actually get out on the trail, which is less than it used to be lol.

If you look on the Collage video site you can find some good DVDs, or videofitness.com and I guess Amazon (not an Amazon fan). Collage is now selling Peggy Cappy yoga vids in her "Yoga for the Rest of Us" series. She has been doing these on PBS fund drives for a couple of years and I have really liked them. Am debating whether I want to buy any. This is the first time I have seen these available outside of PBS specials.

My streakity streak is thusly:

WEDNESDAY, June 27, 2012, Day 276 of streakity streak of no day missed of daily exercise, 60 min walk, total streakity streak minutes so far 20,730 (Previous: 288 consecutive days of exercise, 18000 exercise minutes!)

Have had a stressful few days. Food stable since I raised the calorie budget, no desire to eat too much. ending eating day at 1665.

Marie, love it when I discover I had a good calorie day when I had thought it was not a good one. :dn

Marie 06-28-2012 08:35 PM

Red, I have a DVD, The Firm Yoga Beginner Kit that I bought on Amazon. Am2, I LOVE Amazon. Living in the boonies, it is the most wonderful website on earth. :lol: Anyway Red, I like it somewhat but I'd sleep if I still did it. I did it for a couple months and now I do an abbreviated routine from it. And yes, today I did to :yoga: but didn't want to. But I like not having the hip pain while I sleep. :)

Am2, you're streakity is fabulous. WOOTS! to you.

I had an aweful calorie day yesterday. Just shy of 2200. The work BBQ was full of the bad stuff and I ate it. I actually do regret it because it wasn't worth it. Much better calories today. I biked on the fluid trainer a little bit ago and the doggies and I hiked before work. DH and I are going to swim in a while. The pool stayed semi warm in the frosty weather and today it is MAGNIFICENT out!!!! So splash I will go.
Marie

Amarantha2 06-28-2012 10:33 PM

Lol, Marie, I used to love Amazon but have security issues with it. ITA it is a fab site that has everything.

Good for you on the yoga. I should go do some but I'm totally not in the mood.

Ending my eating day at 1660, which is where I want to be. Did stress eat while working earlier but now all done with work until July 11 except for the real estate classes, so think I should have no more work stress eating for a while. Streakity is:

THURSDAY, June 28, 2012, Day 277 of streakity streak of no day missed of daily exercise, 45 min walk, 20 min run, 10 min abs, total streakity streak minutes so far 20,805 (Previous: 288 consecutive days of exercise, 18000 exercise minutes!)

I usually lift weights two to three times a week but am on hiatus on that, I guess. The body wishes a rest from weights so I am waiting patiently for the mojo to come back on that.

Have a great day, everyone!

Hello all,

Sorry I have not been here in the last few days. I haven't been doing very well with the eating or the exercise, and have lost track to even add to my smilies. I think I might just start a new row.

Going to have DH help me move a little TV to the room where my treadmill is so I can watch while I walk. Watching TV is what seems to work the best for me to make the walking kind of go by more quickly.

Been trying to make some adjustments to my eating ~ trying to learn to be more conscious of the carbohydrates as I am pre-diabetic. It is a confusing thing to me, kind of takes what I have been taught forever about foods and turns it all upside down.

Hope you all have a good Friday.

Take care

Thanks for all the info on the yoga tapes. I have already put it on my list in Amazon. I am an Amazon fan also Marie, it has everything and most comes so quickly - one click of my mouse and paypal pays for my order.

Am2, thanks for the info on the Collage site - I will check that out.

Talk about obsessing - if I don't do it at the beginning I will not get it going right. I am running to the computer and inputting food - don't want to leave out a bite. I am also upping the workouts - so much time is being spent on planning, working out, etc. that my painting time is suffering. I have to learn more how to balance (I should be painting right now instead of typing).

Glynne having a tv when I ride my bike is great - it draws me to do it every evening. I get videos that are long series and just ride and ride and watch. The only danger for me is that I may not work out as hard as I should. That is why I do the workout in the morning at the gym - then I can really kick my butt.

Hoping I break into the 240's tomorrow!!!

Glynne and Red, think having a bike or treadmill in front of the TV would be great. I would like to have that in my little gym room. Going to think about it. The bike would be best for me.

Red, sending good vibes that you DO break into the 240s tomorrow! Woot!

I did an 18-hour IF (Intermittent Fasting) session starting last night and ending this afternoon. I don't do this regularly (so guess it is not intermittent lol). I really like it and need to get back into it as it helps me on a lot of levels.

Ending the eating day with 1475.

Streakity was thusly, done early:

FRIDAY, June 29, 2012, Day 278 of streakity streak of no day missed of daily exercise, 15 min aerobics (In park with a Leslie guided audio “Walk,” which is basically a light aerobic workout that I do double time), 120 min walk, total streakity streak minutes so far 20,940 (Previous: 288 consecutive days of exercise, 18000 exercise minutes!)

Sorry I think I've missed a day or two...I sometimes forget to come back or get busy in the evenings until it's bedtime and I'm tired. My eating hasn't been great although not terrible I guess as my weight has remainded pretty stable. I think it's edging slightly up though and my bs was high this morning so I know I need to do better. Sure shows you can know what to do and not do it. I know tonight I was doing some emotional eating. I'd better get with the program as I have a doctor's appt next month. I didn't track everything tonight but am sure I was a few hundred too much.

Hi all, Ms Exhaustion here... I swore I posted yesterday but I guess I didn't. Cal wise on Thursday and Friday were good and so-so. I have no idea, nor do I care what today's cals are. DH and I rode the tandem for 29.9 miles today. It was about 90 degrees in Redding and I'm so tired. Beautiful ride. DH's GPS/Exercise Watch said we burned 2100 cals so as I said, I don't care what today's cals are. :)

On the TV and exercise front, I can join on this conversation. I have a ledge on my elliptical and treadmill for propping my iPad on. It is about 99.9% safe for the iPad. I either read while listening to my Dancing playlist, watch rock concerts that I've edited out the slow songs or watch movies. I have the netflix app and the ABC app for if I decide to watch TV shows. Basically if I don't have auditory and visual entertainment, I probably would find excuses not to exercise. I like to be entertained. The times I just listen to an audiobook are more boring (aka feel like an hour when it's been a half hour). I have a collage of my puppies pictures that I look at but it's not as good as the iPad.

I'll chat with you all tomorrow.
Marie

Huzzah!

Maryea, congrats on keeping the weight stable even if there's a trend in the works to edging up. It is great how you are cognizant of that and seem to be on top of it.

Ms. Exhaustion, that is a good idea on the iPad. I use mine mostly for games or books. Maybe should get Netflix. Hmmm ...

Ended eating day at 1550 and REALLY want that to hold for the night. I think it will. Need a happy weigh-in this week. I know the scale is not supposed to make me happy or sad and it really does not make me sad, but I get a kick out of scale success, so hoping for some.

My streakity was thus:

SATURDAY, June 30, 2012, Day 279 of streakity streak of no day missed of daily exercise, 10 min dynamic stretch, 20 min run, 60 min walk, total streakity streak minutes so far 21,030 (Previous: 288 consecutive days of exercise, 18000 exercise minutes!)

1531 calories and way too many carbs...I think 16 carb serv. Went to birthday party but I really didn't eat much there. It was too early for me and I wasn't that hungry but I think that made my timing and hunger off the rest of the day. I felt sorta cheated (emotion) and since we agreed I would not cook dinner as dh had had a big meal at the party, I just snacked off and on all day. Several samples at New Seasons and Costco. The good thing is I stopped on the calories before messing up too badly.

Amarantha2 07-01-2012 12:38 PM

Good save on the calories, Maryea!!!

Just hopped in to say that I DID lose 1.2 this week.

Did the streak and now am going out to brunch with a friend.

Huzzah!

Marie 07-01-2012 12:45 PM

Mary, next time your DH eats big at your non-eating time does not mean you don't get to have a meal at your eating time. Make yourself a dinner that you like (and maybe he doesn't) and eat alone. Snacking all evening is a killer.

Am2 :carrot: on the loss. And enjoy your brunch.

I'm no longer exhausted. It was beauty day this morning. Waxed the eyebrows and used the Enjoi epilator on the legs and pits. I'm set for another two weeks. I love the epilator thingie. I never thought I'd say that after trying the Epilady in the 80's (maybe 90's - who knows). That thing was horrendous. Anyway, I realized this morning that I haven't touched a razor to my sensitive skin in four years now. Very nifty. :)

So I added my foods to LoseIt and yesterday wasn't too bad considering the exercise. 2057 cals and nearly 30 miles of biking. I think I did well. Certainly have had more cals on other long bike rides.

No exercise yet today as we had rain and the roads are muddy at the moment so no doggie hike. Soon though as much longer it will be too hot for the Siberian Husky Pack.

Hello all,

Sorry I haven't been keeping up here very well. I have been trying to learn how to keep track of my eating from a carbohydrate point of view. I'm pre-diabetic ~ trying/hoping to hold off a diagnosis of full blown diabetes. I have spent a lot of the weekend refiguring the things I eat, with that in mind and trying to change things around so I can make choices that have less carbohydrates. It was frustrating having to re-do that all, because I had already gone through the process while doing the weight watchers.

This eating while keeping track of the carbohydrates is new to me, so it may take me a bit to figure out what I am doing. and get a routine worked out with the foods similar to what I already had.

I did get the little TV moved to the room with the treadmill, and DH hooked it up to the hook up for the sattelite. So, I am ready to go, for my walking.

Hope you all are doing well.

Take care

Amarantha2 07-01-2012 07:52 PM

Thanks for the congrats on my weight loss, Marie! It was small but hard won!

Glynne, glad you are getting the hang of counting the carbs. I only count calories but I sort of "watch" carbs and I prefer a high protein diet so I watch that too. Congrats on getting the TV hooked up in front of the treadmill.

I have a class starting at 7:40 a.m. tomorrow so will see ye when I see ye! Huzzah!
