Newbie to site

I don't know about IP, but I am on my first day of another food plan. It is also low carb and extremely healthy. I have had a great first day! I have also been attending OA and tomorrow I start a yoga class for flexibility, strength, etc.
I used this healthy food plan before and I was able to stay on it for 18 months. I lost 183 pounds. Sadly, I slipped back into unhealthy eating and gained about forty of it back. But it is definitely do- able and it is not a diet really-- just a healthy way of eating. I think I can stay on it for life if I can deal with the compulsive overeating disease aspects of my crazy brain. OA will help with that.
:)

Newbie- 4th week completed

My WI # 4 was on Fri, and I'm down 3.8 lb for the week, bringing my total loss to 20 lb in 4 weeks. I am thrilled .:carrot:. I did find I was more hungry in this week, and that I craved salt. Probably due to the heat. I also found myself longing for those forbidden foods like ice cream and fried seafood while I was at the beach. I need to find time to stay connected to these boards..you all are such a support to help me stay on track.

ShoBan 07-16-2012 10:59 AM

Wk 6 WI on IP

My WI could have been better, only 1.5, yikes, but I did lose 2 3/4", so that helps! And, like you cscape, I had longings for something like a treat. So, this am, I asked my coach to let me try the choc. soy puffs. I haven't had any of the bars or puffs before. So if I can have this when everybody else is having popcorn(which I love), I can have MY treat, and feel like I'm not losing out! Does anyone else use the snacks, and do you think it slows down your progress? I'd really like to know. Well onward and upward! Have a great week all!!:)

cscape 07-16-2012 04:56 PM

Restricted foods..slowing progress...

I use the bars occasionally, and never eat them for evening snack as they are higher in carbs, and slightly lower in protein. The coaches at my clinic say eating the snacks (or restricted foods) will not slow your weight loss as long as you only have 1 a day. However, I've been choosing the high protein IP products with the lesser carbs and seem to be doing good. I don't want to lose just 2 lb/wk as I could have done that with other food plans for a lot less money.

Hi Sho Ban
I just started Week 4 on IP (but new to 3FC) and have lost 16.4 lbs. I am 62 years old, have not not exercised, feel great, energized, not hungry (was the 1st week). Good Luck. I have already gone off of two of my medicines.:carrot:

Welcome Bluesky!

Welcome! I'm on wk. 6, and the success of IP really keeps me motivated, plus the online support, from 3FC, is amazing. I came up with a yummy drink, with the Pina Colada mix, I used extra water, 16 oz, then put a portion, not alot ,of crystal light, raspberry lemonade. Poured over ice, was the "bomb" lol. You might have to adjust it to your liking, but I thought it was the closest to a fruit drink, that I have found. yummy, jus' sharing, have a great day!!:)

Wk 7 WI

Good Monday morning! Today at WI, I'm down 4 lbs. Feels awesome, My coach pointed out my wt. loss progress, one wk. more lbs. off, the next wk. not as much. Same with inches. I went camping with family this wknd., and had no problem with cheating. I keep thinking about the regret everyone feels when they "slip"! Try to stay strong! Positive. Have a great week everyone, and "2 thumbs up" for everyone's loss this WI.:)

Wi # 6

Hello all, sorry I forgot to post! Fri was WI # 6 down another 3.4 for a total of 26.8 and 219.75 total inches so far. I fell pretty good overall..some days a little tired but considering I'm off my back meds and anti inflammatory meds I'm doing really good. My BP is way down as well, so I'm really happy about that. I'm due to see my endocrinologist in a few weeks, and I hope she tells me blood work is great and no need for the Metformin. Considering I am not exercising, its amazing I've lost 26+ lbs. Almost half way to goal...

ShoBan 07-30-2012 11:15 AM

WK 8 WI, don't feel like a newbie anymore!

Good Monday morning! WI was acceptable, -3.6 lbs. Almost to "onederland", I ordered the blueberry cran-granata mix. Hope I like it. Cscape, glad you're feeling better, your loss has been great. I'm only bout 10 pounds behind you! Keep up the good work, has anyone heard from byugal? TTYL:cool:

happytobeonthisdiet 07-30-2012 12:00 PM

Hi, I am on week 3 and was started on the alternate plan on IP for the first 3 weeks because I have type 2 diabetes. I was allowed some fruit and other carbs. I still managed to lose 14 lbs in 3 weeks. So far I love this diet and do not feel hungry most of the time, Pretty good for carboholic! My sugar numbers are so much better too. Hoping to get off or at least lower my meds soon!

ShoBan 07-30-2012 01:49 PM

Welcome Happy :)

14 lbs. is a great start! I'm pre-diabetic also, and my numbers have been under 100, these past few weeks. I'm so ready to be off those metformin "horse tablets" lol. I go into see my diabetes coach, Friday. She hasn't seen me for 1 1/2 months. Best of luck to you, you're doing great, this plan is by far the best I've ever been on. Keep in touch,:)

Heck.I made a HUGE math mistake...I've lost 19.75 inches NOT 219.75! :o:o

Hi Shoban, I haven't been online much and yes, what happened to the other 50+ newbies?? I had a so-so WI #8 on Fri as well. 1.6 lb for total of 33lb. I had extra salt for a few days as I had a headache I couldn't get rid of and thought maybe I was dehydrated (had about 16 glasses of water!) Still, wt loss has averaged 4+ lb/wk and for my age, and no exercise that is really good.
I'll look for you on the other boards.

New 50+ and Ready to Go

Hi all,

I'm new to the 3FC site and look forward to your insights, knowledge, encouragement, and friendship.

I received my WS products (great service and delivery) and am getting organized for this weight loss journey. My history of being an overweight adult is typical - yo-yo dieting over the last 40 years. Was never overweight until I after I went on my first diet - lol

I am somewhat active - I have a trainer and go to the gym 3x a week. However, my eating and nutrition have to get with the program as well. Funny how the two should go hand in hand!

Hope you all had a great long weekend and talk with you soon.

2Bees 09-02-2012 04:42 PM

I'm just getting going again..might be week 1 for the 24th time..sigh
I will probably follow the Sonoma book but I need to stock up again on whole grains.

My pantry just got cleaned out, or in process, mostly for age . But a good time to fill with good healthy food.

UnrepentantThinner 09-07-2012 08:36 AM

This is my first week too. I have tried many times before with some success, but I have always gained the weight back as I slipped back into old habits. Calorie counting plus stepped up exercise has worked to some degree in the past, but I can't seem to stay with that long term. I have noticed a few people in my life that have had success on low carb diets. After looking at the Paleo diet, I have decided this might be the one for me. I've also been reading the work of Dr. Jack Kruse, who is a bit of an extremist, bur I feel some of his ideas have merit. He recommends the Paleo or Primal diet plus something called Cold Thermogenisis. I've also looked at the work of Isabel from Beyond Diet. What all these plans have in common is a return to good nutrition though organic foods, grass fed meats, etc. So, I've rid my house of all processed foods, and tried to buy all organic, where possible.

All three of these plans encourage the use of coconut oil. Paleo says no grains or legumes. I know this is all well and good, but I also know I won't lose weight in this plan if i overeat these foods as well. I know from experience that I won't lose weight, no matter how healthy the calories, or how low the calories if I go over 2000 calories a day, and I must exercise.

So, here I go again.

ShoBan 09-11-2012 11:26 AM

ShoBan here, I'm taking a little vacation.

Hi to everyone! I'm enjoying the OR coast, even if it's a little chilly. Actually looks like a clear and beautiful day out. IP is Ideal Protein, I've had success with this plan, losing 47 lbs. in 3 months. There's a thread to check it out if you're interested. Right now I'm on my own, I'll get back on plan next wk. Some of the other plans you're talking about sound healthy. Good Luck to everyone!

A carbie 09-15-2012 04:40 PM

Another newbie

Hi everyone! I'm new to the 3fc site and I'm still learning my way around the place.
I'm 68 yrs old, retired and a diabetic.
I'm not on any certain named plan, but have to get down to business with my health.
My cholesterols have been creeping up, and a month ago my triglycerides were extremely high. I too am on Metformin ER, also a blood pressure med and I'm weaning myself off of Pantoprazole.
I need to be consistent with my foods. I'm like many others, ... do really well for a while, then start craving the carbs and I'm off to the races for a month.
Plus, I'm not consistent with my exercising.
I would LIKE to lose about 105 lbs.
I'm having some remodeling done on my house starting very soon, and besides what the contractors, electricians and plumber are doing, I'm going to paint every room in my house plus the basement. I'm also going to be finishing new cabinets for my bathroom and I'll be installing them when the plumber and electrician are done. I'm pretty strong for a woman and I love to do heavy work, like yard work and things like installing those cabinets. I'm glad I found this group. I'm hoping to keep up with you all now. You all seem to be doing so well. Congratulations on your successes. :carrot: Carbie

ShoBan 09-17-2012 10:09 AM

Back from Vacation

Well time to get back on track, scale says I put on 7.5 lbs. I know I endulged with all the fruit, and popcorn(my weakness). Now I'm ready to restart the Ideal Protein plan. This worries me that I put on the wt. so fast. I realized my craving was for sugar, not bread. hmmm... well, onward and upward! Time to be positive, good luck this week everyone! Glad to be back.

Northwest Nurse 09-17-2012 10:17 AM

Newbie also & am 50+

Good morning. Just started on IP and on Day 2. Heading off for a spinning class at the gym. Good luck yo you!

A carbie 09-17-2012 04:09 PM

I know it's disheartening to put on a lot in such a short time, but maybe some of it is fluids too. At any rate, good on you for getting right back on plan! Smart lady, you!
I've been staying away from bread and pasta and have lost 5 lbs in the last week. Of course, I realize it always comes off really fast at first.
Stay with it, ....... Carbie

ShoBan 09-19-2012 08:13 AM

We're all in this together!

Thanks Carbie for the encouraging words, and yes, it's day 3, and still OP. It's good to be back on the plan, I resisted pizza yesterday, was proud of myself, just crunched away on my salad! I do need to use more recipes, to mix things up, so I don't get bored with the plan. IP is restrictive, but by-golly, it works. I think giving up bread and sugar really helps, so kudos to you too! I'm also pre-diabetic, one big reason I wanted to get the pounds off, and elevated cholesterol too. So I can relate big-time! Keep in touch, we'll battle this together! Good luck to you all!:)

hilde451 09-20-2012 12:25 AM

What is the IP plan, dont want to sound dumb but I need something different. I am trying I went from 220 to 182 so far. But need some other ideas I am 67 and 145 would be enough for me. Have been battling Non hodgkins lymphoma and am in remission since 09 and had to take steroids which gave me a 30 lb weight gain. So I am working to get it off. The only thing I need to work out is exercise. But do not like walking alone outside. So what to do. Any advice would be appreciated. Some breakfast ideas also. Thank you much Hilde

Nauntie 09-23-2012 11:49 PM

Less than one full week on IP, and have lost 5.5 lbs. could have done better not in ketosis yet, having a few slip ups can delay that fat burner. Need to watch myself, not slip up and stay on track. Use the cappuccino in my coffee in the morning, peach-mango drink and ready to serve chocolate drink for lunch. Love cucumbers, so eat those for lunch. Dinner has been mostly grilled beef, some fish and pork. Hubby is supportive, losing more weight than me, but I accept that. Need to start walking, but air quality bad from wildfires in the state. Think the air is clearing up, maybe a mile tomorrow!

ShoBan 09-24-2012 12:23 PM

Back to WI since vacation!

ShoBan here! Morning all! My first WI since 8-27-12, yikes. Lost 2 lbs. since last Monday, when I started back on IP. BUT, I had gained 7.5 lbs. on vacationing in Sept. So I'm ready to get back OP. Hilde: Ideal Protein is the plan I'm on, been on since June 5, and lost 51 pounds. It's explained on 3FC, go to Weight Loss Community, scroll down to Diet Central, to Pkg. Meals & clinics, subforum, Ideal Protein. For good explanation of the diet. It works for me:) My goal is 180 pounds, then I want to adjust to that weight for a couple months, then in January, see if I want to reboot, and lose more! Good luck everyone on your WI!!

Time2Bfit4life 11-19-2012 02:33 PM

Hello to all. I'm new, mid-50s, and trying (yet again) to lose the last 15 lbs. I love this site and all the great information, support etc. that I see here. I am hoping to lose most of my weight using Wonderslim, ProtiDiet foods mostly. But, right now I'm using Nutrisystem mostly as I need to use up the products since I spent quite a lot of money on them. I do feel carbs are my downfall so once the NS items are gone, I'll just use Wonderslim and ProtiDiet type foods.

It's great to see how well many of you are doing on plan and I'm very excited to really start a low carb way of eating. I did a low carb plan years ago and did well on it but just "fell off the wagon".

I guess I can't post a weight loss ticker until I've been here a few weeks but I've just finished my first week and am down 2 lbs which is good for me. So, 15 lbs to go...

Keep posting everyone as your ideas, support etc. are so helpful!

Jingo-ace 11-19-2012 06:52 PM

Hi all,
I'm a 50+ er that is working on losing about 30 more pounds to be healthy. I've done about every "diet" there is..lol... and usually GAIN weight on them. For now, I have found MEdifast/Wonderslim seems to be working, so that is my style of eating for now.

I just had a TKR surgery 10 weeks ago, and this weight has got to go!

Looking forward to "meeting" you all soon,
:) J

Keliza 11-27-2012 01:53 AM

The IP laxative works. I take one every other morning and it isn't bad. Tried every day and that was way too much. Don't forget the water - lots of water

karenbf 12-31-2012 01:26 PM

I'm brand new to 3fatchicks. I'm 56 years old and started the Ideal Protein program last Friday. I'm already down 3.5 lbs. in 3 days. I love it! So far, the only side effect I had was some dizziness the first two days.

skinnypam140 12-31-2012 09:39 PM

Newbie too

I'm new to this site too. Could you describe the weight loss plan you're on? I've never heard of it. I've been logging in and counting calories on My Fitness Pal since July and have lost 38 pounds. I was down 40 until Christmas! I'm going back to work and getting back on track!

I would recommend that you Google Ideal Protein and read up on it. It's been easy so far.

50# to lose

Looking forward to working with this thread and reading the posts for motivation.:carrot:

Quack Addict 01-03-2013 11:10 PM

Hi, everyone! I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic last year and managed to lose 50 pounds in the first half of the year. Unfortunately, I also put on those 50 pounds since having a total hip replacement in the summer... so I'm back to square one with this.

When starting out, I consulted a nutritionist and am continuing to see her every six weeks. After reviewing a food journal I kept, she encouraged me to add protein and put me on a 1500 calorie diabetic exchange diet. After being a calorie counter in earlier attempts, it took me a while to feel comfortable with the plan... but I honestly can say that I feel much better with my carbs, proteins, and fats in balance. My waterloo, so to speak, is artificially sweetened beverages. I need to reduce those and increase my water intake.

Yesterday was Day One of this second round... so I have two days under my belt. It's nice to be able to say that because there were those times when I had to talk myself through it one minute at a time. But I did it... and will continue to do so.

The journey continues...
