Default Anyone else have this problem?

I'm not very happy with the scale right now. I'm a mesomorph body type. I put on muscle easily, but burn fat slowly. Every time I get serious about exercising, the scale either goes up first, stays the same or very S~L~O~W~L~Y moves slightly down. And then if I have the slightest inflammation in my body it starts moving up again. Now I know that muscle weighs more than fat and water/inflammation makes a difference - still it gets discouraging. Many times in the past, I just looked at the scale and if it didn't reflect what I thought it should, I would give up.

But, there is good news. I am definitely down a whole size, both in tops and pants. So much so, that I just had to clean out my closet and gave away almost half of my clothes because they are way too big! That really does encourage me. But the stupid scale still doesn't want to move down more than 1-2 pounds!

Firstly, congrats on the size down and that is a fantastic achievement! Woot!

Secondly, yes, I have EXACTLY that problem you described. I put on muscle quite easily, although oddly all my life I have been thought of as a non-athletic, fragile type by others but I actually love exercise and do it like a fiend, even though I am rather a klutz at it. I love that I have muscle but muscle on me only makes me look smaller to people than the scale says. I was quite overweight (more than 100 pounds) for a period of time decades ago and that DID come off quite easily at first but then it took years to do the second half of it and that was fine and I don't even mind that I recently put about 20 regain pounds on and am working on it BUT yes ... if I get crazy in the gym or even walk or run too much (which I don't do as much because I am getting joint problems from it), I gain muscle (a good thing) and inflammation (a bad thing) and the SCALE is mean to me.

Because, even though I know I need muscle as I age and to keep weight off, and I know muscle is good and size is more important, I DO want to see the number on the scale that I want to see lol.

More than you wanted to know, but yes.

I don't think I am a mesomorph, I seem to be a mixture of the body types.

Stupid scales!

Lol, I actually like weighing and think the scale is important data but yes def exercise, which is our friend, impacts the scale.

What kind of support can I offer? What kind of "diet" are you doing, or do you need help figuring out what to do? If we can get you into the right group, it will be easier for you to get some answers/help.

I didn't just start eating properly, but I did just re-start after about a year and 1/2 off.

If you need a diet buddy, I would be happy to sign up.
