  • SamCat says THANK YOU, Marie! Lots of love to his Beloved!
  • Rie ~ what kind of things are "bad" carbs that make you feel tired and anxious?
  • Gayle, bread, sweets, white rice, etc. I don't get symptoms from baked potatoes or sweet potatoes, fiber one cereal, low fat dairy and yogurt, etc. If I want sweets, I eat small amounts of dark chocolate, cheesecake, mouse, etc. I can't tolerate fruit pies, cakes, cookies or brownies. In essence, white flour is a no no.
  • Karen3 - Actually, here in SW PA it is referred to as "the beach", but since I have been posting online with so many easterners I have switched to "the shore" as they call it. When in Rome.....

Marie - Missed you....good to see you back! I thought about the rainbow being lucky but after leaving there with 90% of our money still in our pockets I didn't want to risk it. BTW, beautiful dog!
  • Good morning GG’s,

Back to work this morning. It was a nice weekend. Sara and Maddie came over Saturday afternoon ~ that is always fun. Sunday was quiet. I worked on sorting out the clutter that had built up on my kitchen table.

Did my chair dancing (seated aerobics) yesterday. I wasn’t careful enough about the food over the weekend, and undid the little bit of progress I had made. So frustrating ~ seems as if I vere off the path even a little, I mess up my progress. I keep losing an gaining the same 2 or 3 pounds but never getting anywhere. Guess I need to buckle down. I am still doing WW (on my own), but loosely. Too loosely I guess. Sigh……

Hope you all have a good day

    Take care
  • I had a bit of wisdom fleeing through my empty head while catching up on the post. But all I can think of is what a beautiful day, at least 3 loads of laundry to wash and hang up outside, weeding, weeding and weeding. We didn't get much rain so my strawberries need a good dousing. I never did get around to weeding the raspberries, instead I mouse proofed the shed. After filling in the hole on the bottom of one door, I nailed on metal strips on the doors and over the threshold.
Donna...I can't remember but did you post a picture of your new cat?
K3...I'm never again going to complain about our home owners insurance, $3,189.09 is outrages. But then a hurricane can cover such a wide area of homes where a tornado might miss us most of the time.( I just knocked on wood) I'm wondering if your hubby does some eye rolling behind your back to some of your antics or does he just grin?
Marie...loved the picture of Kai, good to hear from you.
Good Morning to your Glynne...I keep gaining and losing the same couple of pounds too. It is frustrating.
Hey Am2, hope you don't mind that we shorten your name. When I have so little time and a short memory, it's easier.
Tell us a little more about yourself and I have to admit to googling the word woot. Never heard of it before, but I'm not a texter.
    Quote:
WOOT means "Hurrah (Wow, Loot!)" or "Want One Of Those"
Freda...I never got bloody either, doesn't sound like a swear word to me. I heard Prince Charles say it once on an interview.
Too much to do and not enough time this morning, hello to everyone I missed. I enjoy reading about your day/week-end but need to get busy.
Have a great Monday and try to un-do your bad eating habits from the week-end. I was naughty, jumped on the scale this morning and need to buck up today.
  • Hi Everyone,

Rainy here today. Today is going to be a VERY low-calorie day. Tomorrow morning I see my cardiologist and I am determined that my weight will be down.

Quote: i had to go to amazon to ck out the shades of gray books and you are right, there are 2 diff books same title,im reading the triology one thats umm racy.so i learned something new today ttfn rosey
OK, Rosey, I have to ask – is dh getting the benefit of your reading?
    Quote: [B][COLOR="DarkSlateGray"]
Ladyinweighting - I am green with envy that you went to the shore and walked on the boardwalk. I haven't been there in years and want to go so bad. I'm waiting for a time when I am not going through a medical issue. Is there going to be such a time? Probably not this summer. When we went there we always stayed on the boardwalk so we could walk up and down. I love all the little junk stores etc. We prefer OC MD. It's about 7-8 hours from here.
    Hi Donna,
Several times each year, my DF and I get the urge to be near the ocean. We generally walk in Belmar or Spring Lake – very few stores. Typically we like to go when the beach is not crowded – off season and on a weekday. I have always thought that if I lived in a place where I could see the ocean, I would never get depressed.

Quote: Got a call from Mike's caseworker in Colorado and he is still doing great! She spent the entire day with him on Friday and said he is just as happy go lucky as he always is. Since all the tests and xrays came out fine at the hospital she is making an appt. with the nuerologist on Monday (tomorrow). I really do like that they keep on top of these problems that arise. Anyway, I wanted to let you all know and will keep you updated as I find out more. Not to worried now though, just another bump in the road for him.
    Hi Karen,
I am so glad to read that Mike is good. I know this is a big load off your shoulders.

Quote: Having a glorious day already and did my C25K, waiting until before brunch to see if the weight loss thingie is a go this week. Wootness!
    Hi Am,
    What is a C25K and a wootness?
Quote: Lynn, I am posting on our walk today but I will be on the road for 3 days this week so I wont get to work out much. No fitness room at the hotel and I will be in Sidney, Mt. It is on the edge of the Bakken oil fields and women can't be out alone there. A woman jogger was kidnapped and killed last year. Just not safe.
    Hi Rie,
WOW! Who ever thought that anyplace in MT would be dangerous. Stay in your locked room!

Quote: Lynn, I hope you are still feeling well. You are such a busy lady, I don't think I could keep up with you.
    Hi Freda,
Funny, I feel like all I do is sit around and watch TV and play on the computer.

Quote: Lynn... I am so sorry about scrapping. Was kind of afraid that might have been the story. Have you anything to put together to remember them and your hours together?
    Hi Karen,
Yes, I have never been good at doing things like scrapbooking alone (or movies or eating out). I don’t mind traveling alone and I prefer shopping alone. I guess I just see the other things as “communal activities.”

Quote: Donna, this picture is for you and SamCat. Missy Kai Pixie pushed at my legs while I was reading 3FC and found a nice place to sleep. I think she likes the new found cubby hole.
    Hi Marie,
What a BEAUTIFUL dog! Do you think she would get along with my cats? I think they would love her.

Quote: Karen3 - Actually, here in SW PA it is referred to as "the beach", but since I have been posting online with so many easterners I have switched to "the shore" as they call it. When in Rome.....
    Hi Carol Sue,
I am an easterner & I use “shore” if I am talking about it from a distance – e.g., I went to the shore last week. On the other hand, if I am there and want to get there, I would say, “let’s go to the beach.” Interesting, I never thought about it.

Quote: Sunday was quiet. I worked on sorting out the clutter that had built up on my kitchen table.
    Hi Gayle,
Isn’t it crazy? I CANNOT keep my table clear of clutter! I can clean it all up and by the end of the day it will be covered again!
  • Good morning goldies. How was everyones weekend. Usually I have a difficult time staying on tract on the weekends but this weekend I was determined I was going be good. Weigh in day is tomorrow morning. So we will see. I cleaned my closet a few days ago. I have no more clothes that fit. I only have 2 pair of jeans and a few shirts. I have no dress clothes at all. I hate to purchase too many because I'm going to need the next size soon. What do you ladies do in this situation?

    Have a good day ladies.
  • Good Morning everyone! We had a really nice weekend. Didn't do a lot but just was nice. Sunday was church, then lunch with the family at Granny Shaffers! Of course I had to have the Denver omelet---not very calorie friendly but so good! Then came home for a little while let the girls outside and then went to another Lutheran Church in the afternoon for the dedication of their new pipe organ and a concert there. It was very nice. I guess from what they said this was a $750,000 instrument but they were able to get it from a church in Michigan for $25,000 and then it took another $25,000 for the restorations and installation of it. It was really nice. I did turn around and get a picture of it with my iphone but would have loved to get out my flip and get a video--just didn't feel right some how!

Marie, Kai looks pretty comfy there! Ginger and Sissy say Hello!

Well, I need to get going and get some things done around here this morning then I have a Dr. appt this afternoon.. just a regular check on things.

Hello to everyone and I will try to get back for personals later this evening.

  • Good Morning Goldem girlies,

It was a beautiful weekend. Cool, but not cold. We went to DGD's dance recital and it was cute. They have everything from 3-4 year olds to 18 years. One little girl came out on stage carrying her blankey, wouldn't give it up. At the end of the show some of the dads did a "i'm sexy and I know it" dance. Hillarious! We went out to dinner after, to our favorite little Italian restaurant. I don't splurge often, but I did. I only ate half the order, so not tooooo bad.

Cajinlady, It doesn't make much sense to buy a lot of clothes that you are trying to grow out of as soon as possible. I think a lot of us went to Salvation Army or other used clothing places. If you haven't been lately, they have some pretty good stuff. You might need to buy a few things, and fill in from there. Congrats on having no clothes that fit! ha!

Lynn Good luck on that Dr. visit tomorrow.

Marie, Good to hear from you. Seeing your adorable baby under the desk makes me want to bury my face in that soft fur.

Gayle, I try to keep the kitchen table clear, but it's an on-going job, isn't it? Got to have some drop off spot. I clear it at the end of the day, make sure it's all clean. Usually it's stuff that needs to be put away.

Bobbi, I'm going to start using "bloody". it sounds a lot better than the alternative, and no one will be offended. Unless they're English. We do have one English friend and he uses it quite often himself, so maybe he won't care either.

Rie, Love dark chocolate too. I bought a box of cheap chocolate for myself and got all dark chocolate. YUMMY! I had a little 96 year old lady for a patient Saturday. She was wonderful! on 2 pills. I want to be her when I grow up. She said her secret was exercise (she was outside tilling her garden when she fell and broke her hip) and dark chocolate. Can't argue with that!

    Everyone, have a great day,

    Freda
  • Karen, we were posting at the same time. Good luck at the Dr. office! Don't you hate going? I see enough doctors at work!
  • Hi everyone. another rainy day blah blah blah wheres the sun? its been a quiet day. my middle grson is coming to stay with us for 2 weeks. hes 14 and alot of fun . my dd and i are going to pick him up in anchorage on friday. i promissed him we would go to the pool this time. hmm would shorts and a tank work for a swim suit. we are also going to the dirt track car races on sat. dh has been going to pt and doing ok. his range of motion is getting better and hes complaining less lynn you crack me up,and i'll never tell hope your day is awsome rosey
  • I don't know what's wrong with me, can't seem to get organized or focus as I should. Today I planned to go grocery shopping but got busy planning our winter trip and totally forgot it as well as other things I should have been doing! I do have two reservations now for Jan though. But that and budgeting is about all I got done today other than making our bed and taking out the trash. My mouse has not been working well so glad I have a touch screen. Called tech yesterday and he couldn't fix it so told me to call HP. I decided to change the batteries again (had just changed them the day before), and that seemed to help but now it's acting strange again. Dh tested the batteries and they are good. So I'm going to find my old wired mouse and see if it will work. If it works then I'll know it's something to do with the wifi connection or the mouse itself. A new computer and already problems! Grrrrr Something good though...they now have faster internet service (DSL) in my area so I upped it ...should be done Wed. $10 more but it should be worth it...my internet now is ok, except for videos...they can be very frustrating and the sales person said the upgrade should help with that.

I got my toy doz today that I won. I was thinking it was a toy bulldozer but it is a bulldozer like thing that kids use to make cleaning up some toys like legos fun. I remember now signing up for it. I'll give it to our dd as my gs has lots of legos and blocks etc.

I ordered a couple "diet" type books. Told myself I wouldn't buy any more but these sound good. One is 100 Days of Dieting and is supposed to be a companion to dieting not an actual diet book. It is suppose to help you stick to the diet I think. The other one is called, If I'm So Smart, Why Can't I Lose Weight or something like that. T he title drew in me in. I had a GC so only had to pay less than $3 for both!

Rosey - Do you get a lot of rain like we get in WA? BTW, I'm glad you are continuing your education. At Thurs night Bible Study our young pastor teaches verse by verse starting in Genesis. He was teaching about Lot and Sodom & Gomorrah. Since sodomy comes up in that story, in the Q&A afterwards, he had to address some questions about it. He is an excellent teacher and it's very good study and informative but it was fun watching him blush sometimes and all of us laughing at his expense! I'm glad I attend a church that is willing to answer questions and is not afraid of addressing these topics though.

Bobbi - You are very active...don't think I could keep up with all you do.

Glynne - I am more likely to mess up on my eating on Sundays. Even Weight Commander (software) tells me to be careful on that day! LOL I think mostly it is because we usually eat out and one big meal can really screw up my day. Glad you are keeping up with the chair dancing!

Rie - Getting too many carbs makes me tired and achy I think. My neuropathy gets to acting up and I suspect some of the other more general aching is cause by high BS too. I don't know if it's just the white stuff or just too many carbs in general.

Marie - Love the doggy picture!
  • Donna, tell SamCat Kai Pixie needs a picture of her handsome boyfriend. BTW, I put that picture on my work’s iPad desktop since I thought it was so cute with her little paws tucked in the cubby hole. I suppose I really should take a different pups’ picture for it since Kai is the desktop on my home iPad – one that she and I are skijoring.

Rie, most of my fave foods are with white carbs. And the magic cocoa bean. And the delightful coffee bean. I think I’d be a sad chickie if/when I have to give them up.

Carol Sue, I still vote for looking for the pot of gold. I agree, Missy Kai is a cutie girlie. And Freda, I often nuzzle into her soft fur but then it takes days to get all the fur out of my nose. It’s a win-lose situation.

Bobbi, I started learning Woot with woot dot come for daily awesome deals. I have purchased a number of things through it. Then it just became a cool cheer. So woot woot!

Lynn, I hope your dr visit goes well tomorrow. Gotta say I when I read your post about Steve getting the benefits of Rosey’s new knowledge.

Cajun, while you’re loosing, two pairs of jeans are enough. Just try to accessorize to make what you have dressy. Buying too much while loosing is just frustrating. The GG chickies advice about thrift stores is a good one.

    KarenMO, that organ is awesome!!!!

Freda, I’d love to see a video of the dad’s doing the sexy dance. Someone probably took one – they should put it on YouTube. And I adore your 96 yo patient. Exercise and Dark chocolate are both wonderful! If she’s still your patient next time you work, tell her she has a fan club and I’m the president.

Rosey, most public pools have signs saying not street clothes in the pool. If you came to my house it would be OK with me.

Mary, I’m envious of your upgraded DSL speed. CenturyLink said our “neighborhood” was scheduled for an upgrade but there was no ETA listed. You’ll love the faster speeds.

Since I was resting my knee post-elliptical, I was happy to see there weren’t tons of posts. I was actually able to get through them and comments on a work day. But off I go. My knee should be very happy now. If it isn’t, tough cookies. Things to do, doggies to feed.
    Marie

  • Hi Everyone,

Advice – NEVER move to an over 50 residence. I am ready to leave my condo, even though I love where I live. I cannot stand the fighting among these old folks. I don’t need to watch the Hatfields & McCoys – I live with them! Unfortunately, I got roped into being on the Board, so I am right in the middle of everything. I keep trying to not let it get to me, but I am NOT good at that. I am getting REALLY stressed out.

Quote: I cleaned my closet a few days ago. I have no more clothes that fit. I only have 2 pair of jeans and a few shirts. I have no dress clothes at all. I hate to purchase too many because I'm going to need the next size soon. What do you ladies do in this situation?
    Hi Cajun

I used to go to consignment shops, but now, with all the talk about bedbugs, I don’t know if I would do that anymore. I do believe in buying at least one new thing for every 10 pounds lost – even if you have to give it away as you continue to lose. I think that it is REALLY motivational to get into lower size clothes. I just got into my size 8 petite jeans and they make me feel GREAT!

    Hi Karen,

Try the ½ diet. Whenever I go out, I order what I want & then eat ½ of whatever I am given. Seems to work for me.

Quote: We went to DGD's dance recital and it was cute. They have everything from 3-4 year olds to 18 years. One little girl came out on stage carrying her blankey, wouldn't give it up
    Hi Freda,

My sister owns a dance studio and my nieces and great-nieces have been in recitals for over 40 years. I have been sitting through recitals for ALL of those years. My youngest great niece is in her last year of dancing – she goes to college in the Fall. So, with any luck, this will be my LAST dance recital!

Enjoy your time with your grandson.

    Hi Mary,

You will LOVE the faster speed. When I am at my DD’s, where the internet speed is slower than mine, I get REALLY frustrated.

Quote: Lynn, I hope your dr visit goes well tomorrow. Marie
    Hi Marie,

The only issue will be about my meds. She favors adding med on top of med to get my bp perfect & I favor limiting the meds & living with a little higher bp.
