  • Hello!

Salad for lunch and chicken for supper kept me low on calories today. I am getting a cold. Grrr! Sorry. I just don't feel like talking tonight so I will sign off.

  • This rotten summer cold just wants to hang on, but I'm trying to fight back with all I got. LOL. Stayed OP yesterday with my eating, and have everything figured out for today. I think I may have a hard time Friday evening when we go visit our kids and grandkids(1 & 6) but I'm thinking if I plan ahead I will be fine.

Time to get to work have a great day everyone.

    Wilma
  • Have another tough deadline day today so did another 30 min walk to get my streak in and need to focus early and get done. Did well with deadline eating yesterday at 1860, still not where I want to be calorie wise but SO much better than the day before. Took time to go shopping and got decent food in.

Wilma, meant to also congratulate ye on your NSV in inch lost and going down in size. That IS more important than the scale.

Re that, speaking in generalities pertainin' to MOI (just me), I am a big advocate of scale data and in some ways to me it is the most important number because I once weighed a lot more, but to me the scale data is just one piece of the puzzle. Size, health and lookin' good in little capri pants are the pieces that make up the whole for moi. The scale just provides me with a number to use in my computations.

Sorry for those who have colds. Hope all have beautiful day!
  • Hello all,

Can I join in? I am not usually not very good at self discipline and sticking to things ~ that's what has gotten me in this fix. So, I am simply trying to see how long of a streak of days I can go without giving into the temptation of eating junk. I am going to give myself a for every day that I succeed at that. Hoping this helps, hoping I can do this.

Started 5-21-12 ~ so as of today I have:

  • Hi Challenge friends!

Still fighting a cold bug but I think that I am on the mend. Cod fillet for supper kept my calories low. I am just not all that hungry so I have been eating romaine lettuce with a little dressing for lunch these days. Today I added a hard boiled egg. Thought my body could use a little more protein to fight.

Gayle, welcome! This challenge is just about taking the long view and trying to do the right thing, and being honest when we don't. You can do it!

Wilma, colds when the weather improves are the pits. Good for you keeping your streak going. Like you, I am having a busy week. I am training a group tomorrow and I am not looking forward to talking for 3 hours with this sore throat.

    Mary and Marie. Hello!!!!!!

  • Am2, good luck on your deadline. When it is done, we’ll all yell “WOOT!” I’ve got a butt load of deadlines for my job from now until mid-July. And with those deadlines I’m supposed to create a new website. Ok, most is created. Now I just need to fill it with stuff. That takes a bit.

Mary, I never get enough fruits and veges. They’d cut into my mocha calorie allotment. Wrong? – yeah, but at least I admit it.

Rie, I hope you feel better. You’re cals are in the low zone. I bet that scale will budge eventually. Ow on the concept of talking for 3 hours tomorrow. I will be silent and hope that helps your throat vicariously. Just like the exercise exchange we had last summer.

Wilma, I hope you feel better as well. Colds are just nasty.

Gayle, welcome aboard and you’re on your streak. Maybe we could have a Streaking Challenge.

Yesterday I was at 1531 and ellipticalled. Today I will finish at 1657 with a very windy doggie hike. The winds were about 25 mph. Time for the results show for Dancing with the Stars so off I go.

  • Hello Ladies,

Sorry I was awol for awhile. First my computer busted, then I went on several trips and then my poor little 14 year old dog apparantly got into something toxic and almost died. Thankfully she pulled through but it was very, very messy and very, very expensive. I think I am in a place now though where I have time to focus on weight management again. Funny thing, I was gaining weight since Easter but actually lost a few on my last trip. We were visiting family and I do not normally eat most of the food that was offered so I only ate tiny bits of things. That worked out nicely but now I am back home and my usual temptations are here so I need to be careful not to get back into the gaining place again.

    Nice to be back.
  • Yay!

I made it through the day. Bless the airborne and zinc - I actually woke without a sore throat! I feel a little peaked, now but I am on the mend. Marie, it must have been your support that did it. I had a victory in that there were cookies and my favorite peanut butter bars with chocolate provided for the training. I didn't touch a morsel and only ate a couple grape tomatoes and a couple strawberries. It felt good. I am camping this weekend and I fully intend to eat smores so I am going to be good until then.

Terapet, nice to have you back!

Marie, LOLROF on streaking challenge. I dare you! TEE HEE

Gayle, Mary, Am2, I hope you are having a good day.

  • Didn't make it back yesterday but it wasn't a very good day. I was on the go most of the day and kinda grabbed without much thought. So I went over 300-400 hundred I'd guess (didn't track) and of course also carbs. BS was high this morning. Did better today and hope to not eat anymore tonight. We had lunch out and it was kinda hefty but right now I'm still feeling like I can make it. 1558 calories and 12.5 carb serv.

Rie - Sorry you haven't been well. Glad you're better and hope you'll be all better soon. At least...you're not like me...I usually even eat when I'm sick! GFY in resistiing the goodies!

Terapet - I have missed you! But we all have to have an offline life too, don't we. Sorry about your poor doggie. Glad she made it. That's great that you lost on your trip....trips are usually very difficult on diets.

Marie - How'd you know it was the mochas for me too..LOL Yes, there are only so many calories and carbs in my day an too many of them go for my mochas even though I know that is not the healthy approach. Funny, I used to eat so many fruits before diabetes and esp before I discovered mochas! And I always ate a lot of veggies until Medifast. I had to eat so much for dinner when on that diet that afterwards I had to take a break from them. I still eat them but not as much as before. I'm trying to get back to eating more of them though. Low glycemic veggies and lean meats are the only things I can eat without worrying about carbs so it really helps to focus on them but I'm not much for meat and right now can only eat so much vegetables so I continue to work on that. Today the only veggies I had were a little onions and green peppers and tomato sauce on a pizza at lunch and 3/4 of a large tomato for dinner but I had a lot of fresh blueberries at breakfast and afternoon snack, and a huge strawberry at dinner.

Glynne - I'm so glad you have joined us! I think of you often as we are alike in so many ways regarding our issues with food. I have to reinforce in my mind each day that I am not in bondage to food (or anything) because I know how easily it is for me to slip back into feeling like I just have to have something or that I cannot resist some treat. But I know we can both do this. I always have said that even if I never reach my actual goal weight (although I keep trying), I will at least be preventing myself from getting heavier and less healthy. I used to say I ate 80% healthy...not sure these days...might be more like 75% but I'm trying to up that.

Hi Slim, hope you are feeling better!

    Hi Amara how you doing?

Tomorrow and Friday will be my hard time. I do pretty good on my work days, but then kind of fall apart on my day off when I don't have my regular routine. Gotta figure out some kind of routine for the days off, so that hopefully I won't undo any little progress I might have made from my better days. Also am fighting years of a bad habit of feeling like I "deserve" a treat for "making it through" those work days.
  • Tera, so glad to have you back. I’m happy your puppie survived. My daughter lost her kitty in a freakish accident on Monday is having a horrible time dealing with the loss and guilt. Much better to pay off the bills, in my opinion. Good job losing a couple pounds on vacation.

Rie, if I actually ran around streaking, The bounce of the saggy girls would whip me in the face and cause a black eye. I’m glad you made it through the training, both voice and standing strong against the peanut butter bars.

Mary, on your vege list for the day including the sauce on the pizza. OMG, that’s too awesome! I guess I had vege for lunch too. I LOVE fruits but not a big fan of veges.

Gayle, glad to see you added another day marker of no junk. Good job.

I’m on target for my cals today. Either 1350 or 1555, depending on whether I want my dessert in a bit. I “want” my dessert but I’m not hungry. Actually that always frustrates me. I put on my hat all day with the “carrot” at the end of the day being my little ice cream sundae. Then I’m not hungry. So tomorrow (if I choose not to have it) will result in junk intake. I guess I’ll think about that cause and effect in about 45 minutes before I say “nope” to the ice cream (actually dairy dessert). I ellipticalled this evening and way kicked butt on the distance. Finally beyond my distance minimum and I haven't done that since the surgery. Still on a reduced resistance but finally I felt normal during the workout. And very sweaty.

  • Yeah, I was trying to show how really little veggies I had! I don't know about these days, but I remember the schools used to count tomato sauce or spaghetti sauce as a veggie because it was so hard to get kids to eat veggies. They even counted ketchup as a veggie! Actually for a diabetic pasta sauce is counted as a carb because usually there is usually sugar in it.
  • Good Morning Girls,

Please excuse me while I get on my healthy eating high horse. I simply cannot relate to this relunctance to eat vegetables that I am reading here. They are soooo good. Last night my dinner salad included lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrot, radishes, brocolli, corn (cut from the cob) and mushrooms. MMMMMM. Really Ladies, you must give these delicious and nutritious foods a chance. Now you all know I am a big fan of both junk food and alcohol. However, while limiting calories one must make every effort to set some food priorities and veggies top my list. I am also experimenting with replacing meat proteins with nuts, seeds and plant alternatives. I guesss I am just tired of meat. Just food for thought. Ha,ha.
  • Glynne and Tera, haven't met ye before, I think. Huzzah! Hope I don't miss anybody or mess up when I try to sort everyone out. This is a great group!

For MOI (me), BIG deadline project sent last night, a day late but s'ok with them. Working tonight and one more little thing to finish on that job and then taking week off, then guess returning to that job, long dull work story lol. Need life ... hmmm, actually, LOVE my life!

Very stressed and achey and wanted to eat eat eat yesterday, cals 1885, were at 1670 the day before. INTEND TO BE IN THE 1500s for remaining days.

Not even sure when last posted but did walk on Tuesday and did 15 min weights this morning, need to exercise more than this but it feeds my streak and got me out of bed.

Woot! Off to shop before work tonight.

Tera, not a veggie eater, although was vege for a couple of decades in past life. Thy salad sounds tasty, though. I DO eat veggies lol, one of my favorite ways is a green smoothie made with frozen organic veggies of all kinds. Hmmm, need to make that today.

    Have a wonderful day, all!
  • Hello there Challenge friends!

Today was a busy day with lots of needs from other people. I survived. Some times having lots of employees is like having lots of children.

    Amaran2, keep that streak going!

Terapet, I think most of us include veggies in our diets. I eat large portions of romaine lettuce salad for lunch and always have at least half my plate full of low glycemic veggies for supper.

Mary, you are doing good. Baby steps....

Marie are you getting caught up on work? I hope you had a great day.

Gayle, hoping your first day off from work went well. Don't feel that you have be perfect - just practice here, ok?
