good Morning girls,
Went to the kids football games yesterday, in the pouring rain! Never been wetter except in the shower! By the time I got home even my undies were wet! Kenzie played first and after her game I took her to the car and changed her clothes. Oh, and it was freezing on top of the rain. But it was a good day. Those days you really do never forget. Got home and of course had to do laundry, everything got wet. All our clothes and coats and blankets. At least I got the laundry done yesterday so i'm free today. Nancy, The coulots are great, but a nice silky top in black or white would look good. Or how about a white top and one of those drapey sweaters? And you really need some funky jewelry. I am seeing a lot of big bold silver jewelry now. I like the red skirt too. I have a white skirt like that that I wear with different color t's and a big chunky belt that sort of hangs a little lower. and lots of silver bangle which I have collected over the years. I like the hats too. They look good on you. maybe you could buy a plain one that you could "fancy" up with different trim? It's easy to find embelishments at the stores now. Karen, I hope you feel better soon. I know it's a bother right now, but it's temporary and worth the agervation. Hang in there girl. It won't last long and you'll be back at bridge kicking butt. Gayle, Mattie is a cutie. Enjoy your day off. Lynn, I am amazed at the things they have for babies too. Sure didn't have this stuff when ours were born. Some of it's nice and some is just silly. I hope the girl that had the shower was able to take some of the things back and get bigger sizes or store credit to use later when the baby gets bigger. I'm afraid my baby shower gift is usually a case of diapers. Not fancy but no one has ever had to return them and they are always used! And duplicates are always appreciated! Mary, Good for you for controling the restaurant trip. That is what I do too. I try to go online and find out the menu and decide what I want to have before I go. And then I don't look at a menu and end up changing my mind because something looks good. Too many restaurant meals contain enought calories for a full days worth instead of one meal. And 500 is good for a dinner. Donna, I read Clan Of the Cave Bear too, years ago. Liked the series but the first one was the best. Yeah on the strawberries. Nothing like picking fresh, ripe strawberries. So good and they taste like strawberries are supposed to. Rosie, be careful, but continue to practice walking in the house. Using the walker would be safer when you're alone, and the more you walk the stronger your legs will get and your balance will get better. Walk as much as you can, several times a day. Soon you will be out and about and doing so many new things! I look forward to hearing about your victories. Make it a good day, Freda |
 A quick scan of post to see who's doing what and I'm outta ere'. Sorry...when the sun shines, I've got lots of outdoor work to do.

Good Morning!! Getting ready to get the car loaded and heading to Branson. A very pretty day here today. I thought that I would post the link to my facebook page if anyone is interested in going there. Just let me know who you are so I can accept you. It is: www.facebook.com/KarenSwaine
I will try to check in later on while we are gone but if now don't worry about me-- just having a good time and I'll check in Wednesday night when we get home!! Have A GREAT week everyone! |
Hola!
Just checking in..... people to see, places to go, things to do. I guess that means I have to shower... Nancy, the brown doesn't go as well with the red (my favorite of the two). I agree that a silky white would be very pretty! I like the skirt/skort/culotte/whatever! It's good that you're willing to experiment! Have a good one, Everyone.... back later. |

Good morning everyone
A nice sunshiny day here today ~ love that. Off and running here soon. Having fun for a minute ~ putting a picture on here of my garden decorations. There was a spot in the flower bed where a plant had died and left an empty spot ~ it "needed" something. I found these at the Hobby Lobby. I was lucky to hit a sale ~ 50% off. Sorry it is a little bit fuzzy. I took it with my phone and I have trouble holding still enough. My DH texted me a picture the other day that Maddie took of him with his phone. I joked that maybe I would have to have Maddie teach me :D I like my phone and how I can take picutres, e-mail them to myself, then save to my computer and use here or wherever. Fun and easy. Hope you all are having a wonderful day. |
Good evening, my dear Golden sis's....and welcome back, Phyl! You are looking marvelous!
Well, my nephew passed on last night at 10:30. A blessing, really. Not that the brain tumor was a blessing, of course..none of that, but that this last bit is finally over is a good thing. He's been unresponsive for weeks, and they removed his feeding tubes and all fluids a week ago because his body wasn't digesting anything. He went peacefully - alseep; everything just shut down at the end. So, we'll be heading down there for the funeral on Thursday - flying out Wednesday - and home Saturday morning. My poor sister is emotionally and physically exhausted, and I've promised her that when I retire - in January - I will go down and spend a month with her. We just need some "just sister" time. Alright, now, Nancy. The pants are smashing, and I like the hat, but neither top does you justice. Yes, clearly you are used to disguising your figure behind loose things that give you no shape at all. Well, girlfriend, you now have one (a shape, that is) and it's time to show it off! You said those pants are black & white? Not black & tan? (That's how they look in the picture.) Well, anyway, what you need is a top in black that hits a little further down your hips than the beige top does. The beige is definitely better than the print, but it cuts you off right across the middle, which doesn't show your new shape to best effect. Definitely a black tank sort of top is needed! Something with a scoop neck, and more form-fitting.... and I would go for a strappier sandal - maybe even just a black flippy-flop sort of thing. The style that I love most is called "lagenlook", and it's about layering. You can google it and find some examples. Plus Ebay is a good source. Lagenlook can get pretty pricey, but on the other hand, can be put together from a variety of sources - it's more a "look" than any particular designer or label. Big, wide-legged pants with little tops or little jackets over longer tunics. Anyway, you can check it out and see what you think. BUT your pants are a great find, and with the right, longer top in black, you'll be a knock-out. Clown my, um...ashcan! That girl needs a whack. Don't make me come down there....OH - with the red skirt? See if you can't find yourself a little tropical-print top with red in it; maybe a short-sleeved "camp style" shirt? Wear it unbuttoned over a tank top that picks up one of the contrasting colors in the shirt - purple, maybe even a teal blue or some such? Do you ever do any sewing? If it were me, I'd buy some tropical-printed fabric and make myself a sleeveless shell and forget the overshirt. Easy-peasy. OR, if you can find the tropical shirt AND a wide red belt - probably in a stretchy fabric - forget the tank and just wear the shirt out over the skirt with the wide red belt AND some chunky red & silver beads around your neck! A definite YES to chunky jewelry! Lynn, the stuff they have for babies these days hinges on craziness. Half the stuff they get at showers never even gets used. And a bazillion outfits, unless they range in size from newborn up to 18 months, definitely don't get used, because for the first few months, the babies are mostly at home in little stretchy jumpersuits. By the time they're ready to be out and about visiting, they've outgrown all those cute little outfits. Good job with the restraint used at Ruby Tuesdays, Mary! See, you're learning make better choices for yourself! Now, once we all learn to do that consistently, we can rename ourselves "the slim chicks". Glad too, to hear that your dh is okay. They DO like to scare us now and again... Hah, PT...yup, you and I think alike when it comes to men showing the proper respect. Mine knows full well that he'd get shown the door right quick if he tried talking down at me. As for your SO, Nancy....I'm sure that you & he have your relationship worked out to your liking, but that daughter of his? No, ma'am. As I said above, the clown comment was over the top. THIS clown would smack that smart mouth of hers! (Actually, the one who OUGHT to muzzle that smart mouth of hers is your SO!) Karen, nice pics, and as you know, my dh is now an "historical interpretor" at Old Sturbridge Village. They have a Revolutionary War re-enactment one weekend every summer that we typically go to. There's a Civil War re-enactment in West Boylston, MA every year, too, and that's interesting as well. I love history of course, but am actually very happy that I live in the present, as the conditions back then - even on the home front, never mind on the battlefield - were a tad more primitive than I'd want to live with. What, no air conditioning, central heat, TV, computers, cell phones...? Oh, MY. :o Freda? Haven't you been sick? Good grief...out sitting at a game in a cold rain? Whatever are those coaches thinking? My dgd's soccer coach always waits until the last minute to call a game due to weather...and I'm usually mumbling and grumbling about how the kids shouldn't be out on the field in a rainstorm. Naturally, they have scheduling issues, and with the persistently rotten weather, I don't guess they'd ever play if they had to wait for a sunny day. I'm glad, incidentally, that you're finally seeing some sun (even if it's not on game days) - we get it in dribs and drabs: mostly sunny mornings, it seems, with clouds coming in and showers every afternoon. Predictions for the whole summer this year aren't optimistic, either. I can't stand it. :( I LOVE your new picture, Gayle....you look so young in it! Losing weight definitely helps shed a few years as well, doesn't it? Keep up the good work, chickie...it's really showing. Well, Rosey, I'm happy as can be about your amazing progress, and thrilled about the new fashion choices...but don't be getting all acrobatic when you're home alone, you hear? I know you must be anxious to go as fast as you can, but I'm sure all the nurses here will tell you to take all the time you need for a safe transition back to independent mobility...plus we won't worry so much if you promise to be careful! Karen3 - Gotta love that lime green! It's one of my favorite summer colors! Oh, and I am SO with you on the knits VS ironing!!!! And with summer cottons and such, like the ones I'm currently in the process of unpacking - I just throw a few pieces into the dryer with a wet towel and a fabric softener sheet for 10 minutes or so, pull it out, shake it out and hang immediately, and voila!! No ironing required except maybe a touch-up on a collar or some such just before wearing. Hmmm. <looking around> Who did I miss? Lyn? You'd better get back here, lady! Oh, Bobbi....if there's sunshine outside, I know YOU are, too! Rie, I hope you're knocking 'em dead at the pool table! And I'm back to clothes sorting, meatloaf-making, and bath & hair washing. Gray day outside. Need to pack a few things for Wednesday's flight out, too. BBL, :grouphug: Z |

My best wishes are with you and your family. I am sorry for your loss. Lynn |
Hi Everyone - Just a quick flyby. Zoe I'm so sorry about your nephews passing but I agree that he is in a better place - free & happy. Hugs "hug" "hug" to you & your sister & family. Yeah, Rosey, use the walker at home when you are alone. But so glad that you are getting more mobile! And big yahoo for the 2lbs gone too! :high: Mary - Great NSV for you! :cp: I like the idea of the "golden Girls Whacking Brigade! :rollpin: Sometimes that is so needed for people that can't or won't control their big fat mouths! Its cool & rainy :rain: here today after such a nice weekend.....Well, I'm glad that Boston Rob won Survivor - he really played the game. And Apprentice finale next week. That's a hard one - I like both of the finalists. I do follow American politics a bit. Anyway I'm off to buy annuals as it is close to time that I can actually plant them. Everyone have a wonderful day, eh?
|
The American politics "bit" I was thinking about Donald Trump finally saying he isn't going to run for President . Erased that statement but forgot the "politics" one...........duh!

Hello--- we made it fine!! Got a nice room in Branson and had lunch while they finished getting out room ready. I know this sounds pathetic but I saw a Dennys and got all excited!!! We ate lunch there!! We used to like to eat at Dennty a lot but I can' remember the last time we ate there.. BUT we are going out to a nice restaurant tonight. The Fall Creek Steak and Catfish house! Not sure what else we may do tonight but we are going to a show tomorrow-- just haven't figured out which one yet. But it is going to be ALL FUN!!!
Zoe, so sorry to hear about your nephew. But at least he isn't hurting anymore. Thoughts and prayers with you and your family. Be back later... |
Zoe ~ sorry for your loss ~ thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Hi all....First day back at bridge. Had to laugh one elderly player asked me how did I burn my face...First said it was from a laser treatment, but shugged and admitted I had tried to nap on the stove. Her mouth dropped open and I said well I couldn't get in the oven. The entire room roared. Stopped in at the doctor's and he was shocked at the damage. Doesn't know what happened. I do, his NP amped up the wattage....of course she denied. It will be okay, but painful yet.
Zoe....Am so sorry for your lose. It is so hard on the family left behind. Your sister will be a year getting back on her feet. It just isn't natural to lose a child. I'll add her to my prayers. NancyNc....i agree with everything Zoe said. BUT another thing to try is tucking in the shirt. Try a red top tucked in with the red skirt....give it a try. Get a stretchy belt and even flip flops....Your body is changing and you don't have to cover up alot of those old lumps. Add something glittery under the chin to brighten up your face. or earrings. Those pants are great just stop with the biege.... Lynn....Last baby shower I went to they had a bigger registry then most weddings. Nothing was cheap either. Did you all see my tv fly out into orbit? good cause it was too cloudy to see the Shuttle this am. Gayle....that is such a nice picture of you. You look younger there! OMY Just looked out the slider and a hugh storm is about to hammer us....BBL.k3 |
Hi Ladies. Busy busy Busy-just a quick check in :)
Zoe, I am so sorry for your loss:hug: Rosey, you be careful now!! I was gone most of the weekend at my Herbalist class-stomping around in the woods, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Catch everyone later-tomorrow is the dreaded weigh in day :dizzy: |
Gosh a lot of posts since I've been here! I've been very busy today and still don't have that much to show for it with the housework! I was on the phone quite a while with the loan (our son thing, remember?) and was able to get access to the loan info finally. It was easy but I just didn't know I could do it before since he had it. I thought one at a time you know but turns out you can have multiple people on it. So I learned something. The good news is he is paying a little more like he told me but he just never communicated that to me so I've been paying the same which caused an overpayment. At least I can pay less this month. I texted him that we appreciate it and letting him know how much we'd be paying as I want to encourage good communication. Just hope he keeps it up.
Nancy - I LOVE the red skirt!! My kind of thing or was before my tummy got so huge. In fact I have a purple skirt very much like yours. I like all the ideas others have given...gives me some ideas too! Hoping to get rid of this big tummy some day you know! ;) Zoe - I am so sorry about your nephew, but glad he went peacefully. Karen31 - We like Branson too! Have never RVed there but we stay in a timeshare condo there. We eat at Denny's often when traveling...high cal, high fat but aren't they all?!! I've given up on finding a good low-cal, low-fat restuarant and have decided it is just up to me to limit the amount I eat of it. I only today finished off the Creole Fish from Ruby Tuesdays and it still tasted very good. Laffalot - yes, Rob did play a great game and he sorta won me over I'll admit. I didn't care for him when he was in Amazing Race. I was hoping Matt would get the player award ($100,000) for his winning so many duels and being on Redemption Island so long though. But Rob deserved to win the big prize and I loved what David said to the jury! Freda - Do you know about Dottie's site? She's in WW and has a great site about it and weightloss in general. I'm not in WW but I love her site and I downloaded her app...it's made for WW and has the points for all kinds of foods but also has restaurants and I used it to select the best entree at Ruby Tuesdays. Very cool app that covers a lot of foods and restaurants. It cost me $4+ but I'm glad I bought it. I used it right there in booth at the restaurant. This post has taken me a long time to type because after I started it we stared watching a movie. It was called The End of the Spear as is really good and based on a true story. Even my dh loved it and he doesn't always like the movies I select. ;) Ok, gotta end this long post and get something more done before bed. BTW, I watched the entire movie without eating!!! That's a first!! |
Good Morning Everyone,
AC folks are supposed to be here today to install new system. I have been lucky that it has not been too hot this Spring. Not sure whether or not I will get to my volunteer job today or tomorrow. Depends on how long the AC people take. Tomorrow I have a couple of appointments at the college I will be teaching for in the Fall. Have a great day everyone, Lynn |
Hey golden girls I am 54 years old and would love to join you
|
Good morning all,
Had a nice day yesterday. Weather was beautiful. Got to sit out on the swing on the deck for a few minutes with my cup of coffee. Temperature just right, not humid. Would have liked to fit in a bike ride, but things didn't work out that way. Went for a hearing screening. Now the process of researching them and cost and provider begins. Not covered by my health insurance. Darn things are costly ~ best one according to the audiologist was $6,000 for a pair. And she said that they last 3-5 years then have to be replaced. I am hoping maybe I can get by with just one in my worst ear. We went to Corbin's orchestra concert last night. That was nice. Then on to pick up some produce that was on sale. Maddie came with us ~ that is always interesting. She has something to say or ask about everything. Took her back home and got to visit Sara and Corbin for a few minutes. Back to work today. Four days then off the weekend. Hoping to get my bedroom closet cleaned out this weekend. Hope you all have a nice day. Take care |
Welcome Philo ~ jump right in ~ it is a wonderful group here.
|
Good Morning! Just had a WONDERFUL continental breakfast here at the motel. I've never seen one that nice. I had sausage, biscuit and gravy, orange juice and coffee.. Tim had oatmeal, doughnut and coffee. Super nice place and I haven't met a "sour" person yet! We go to the presentation today at 2:00 for the timeshare condos. Not buying anything but it was part of our package. Tonight I think we may go to the "legends in concert" show. Unless we change our minds again!!
Welcome Philo---Glad to have you on board.. Pull up a chair and jump right in! Got to go..going to try to fit in some shopping this morning at Bransons Landing.. Going to have to go home tomorrow to rest!! LOL!! |
Good Morning, All...
PT/Zoe, so sorry to hear about your nephew... thoughts and prayers are with your sister and with you. I'm glad you'll be going to see her soon. Nancy, it seems my Zoe suggestion was a good one! She had lots of good ideas for you! I also like the idea of the red top and the meshy belt from KarenFL! KarenFL, are there going to be any permanent effects from the NP using too much wattage? I hope you're back to normal soon! Nothing to report... KarenMO, so glad your vacation is going well! I hope you have fun (and are brave and fearless in your refusal to sign a contract! Enjoy! Philo, welcome! Be sure to add your birthday to the birthday list in the Age 50+ forum, and we'll make a big deal out of it on your day! Later! |
Goodbye 140's :)
Finally the scale moved! and I get to change my ticker:carrot:
- it's a good day so far even though it's raining and windy and I don't get to go harvest stuff in the woods. Guess I'll do some more spring cleaning, Zoe has inspired me to move the clothes around - get rid of the stuff that doesn't fit and exchange the winter for summer. Have a good day Ladies ! :) Welcome to Philo too! :) |
The good news is I now have a working AC. The workmen got here around 8 am and just left (6:30 pm). I sat in my living room watching tv all day - made me CRAZY! I didn't want to get in their way.
Well, I am ready for the hot weather now! Lynn |

Hey GGs,
First of all, Zoe, my condolences on the passing of your nephew. I’m so sorry. I know it will be a great comfort to your sister, having you there for the funeral. Hope you have a good & safe trip. And, your visit in January will be something positive for her to look forward to. I did a stupid thing this morning. After reading the GG posts, I left the page up on my computer, & then went off-line, & put the computer to sleep. Then I went to the grocery store. My SO’s DD was in her room, watching TV. I completely forgot, that sometimes she goes on my computer to check her email. I don’t know if she did that today, but…… if she did, she could have read our posts! She hasn’t said anything, or acted “funny”, so I don’t think she did, but still - she could have! I’ll be more careful from now on! I’m really overwhelmed with all the advice I’ve gotten on what to wear with my skirt & culottes! So many great ideas! Thank you all! I’m saving all the suggestions so I can refer back to them. What I end up with will depend on what I can find at the thrift stores, but at least I’ll have some ideas on what to look for! Interesting that several of you mentioned wide belts. When SO’s DD was getting rid of some of her clothes, I saved several of her belts, because they fit me. (I don’t know why she had them, unless they were from her “chunky stage”, during high school, when she got up to a size 12). Three of them are wide & fit around my hips. One is black & stretchy, one is white, & the other’s gold & silver. Maybe I can use one of them for some of the looks y’all were talking about. Oh, & Zoe, I do know how to sew, (I even have a sewing machine) but I really don’t like to. Well, I’ve been getting to bed really late, but I’m hoping to make it earlier tonight. So, I’m not going to linger here any longer. Whoops, almost forgot to congratulate you Rosey, on your weight loss (& the walking)! Yay! And Yay! Maureen, congrats on your weight loss! And, to the new girl, Philo, welcome to the GGs! Now, nite nite everyone! NCNancy |
Just a quick post before I go to bed. Just finished watching The Biggest Loser. I always love seeing how much the contestants have changed and wish them the very best!
It's been a busy day and I haven't gotten much done here at home. Started out with brunch with my dh's retiree club, so it was a larger morning meal but we went from there to grocery shopping at two stores and when I got home I had a phone call from my dd so I never took the time for a snack like I normally would. Then tonight I actually had a lighter dinner so it worked out pretty well overall. I did snack tonight after church but stayed OP and my BS before dinner was great!! It had been high in the morning but my weight was down. I hope I can keep at it ...I'm still very determined and feel I've (hopefully) reached a new level in the mental part of this journey. Like they say on The Biggest Loser, it's not only physical but mental change that is required and I've always known that about myself. No time for personals tonight as I am tired and have to go to the gym in the morning. We have missed two days this week and I know I need it. Take care everyone! |
Welcome Philo, congrats on the weight loses, and Zoe........:( Sorry about your nephew.

Well I'm burning sunshine, you all have a great day. |
P.S. I almost forgot to give you a tip Home Depot garden center told me. I was looking for a pretty climbing vine for one of my trellis, I've got Morning Glories coming up a few places and wanted something new. She sold me a packet of Burpee Sweet Pea 'Moody Blue Mix'. She said they are fragrant and get 8-12 feet, bloom all summer. The picture on this mix is purples, blues, lavenders and dark pink. Should be pretty...go get yourselves a packet!

Hi Golden girls/sisters
Our crazy weather is taking another warmer turn right now. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. But we've had so much rain that everything is soggy and muddy. The kids play soccer in mud holes! And I have mud up to my knees getting there to watch them. I finally got around to getting a hair cut and color today. Just my usualy short bob with lots of highlights. Yuppy, no grey. Z, So sorry to hear about your loss. But he's out of pain. Prayers for your sister and all the family. Bobbi, There you are! We knew you were busy outside. It must be nice there, right? I look forward to seeing the pictures. I've yet to plant a thing. But I always plant morning glories up my trellis in back and i'll try the sweet pea's. I like that they have a scent. Morning glories are truly glorious, but they fade quickly and don't have a scent. Rosie, YEAH!! Go girl!! Mary, weight loss is truly a mind thing. If you don't get your mind in the right plave it's kind of a waste of time. I'm glad you're there. Philo, welcome to our little family. I'm glad you found us. Come often. We have a very supportive group Tea Granny, I look forward to packing away my winter stuff, just haven't gotten to the point that I can. I'm still wearing them some days, even my winter coat. Lynn, You're ready for hot weather, now I hope you get some, at least warm, weather! Freda |

Hello Everyone! We got back this afternoon and I've posted pics and a video on facebook. We had a good time. We went to "Legends in Concert" last night and they were really good! Here are a few pictures. Need to get back on the "diet train" tomorrow for sure! But that is what vacations are for and I had a great time!!! Need to go and get some supper started... tonight is going to be something warm since it is cold outside and we are tired. Tomorrow back on track!!
Have a great evening! |
Good afternoon, All...
KarenMO, looks like you had fun! Weather okay? And I think it's SO nice of you to get a room with a bed for the girls! Or did they get their own room?? No, they aren't spoiled at all! And you look so pretty in your blue top! Have a splitting headache. I was in a meeting for 4 hours, which, as you know, always inspires whining... so I'm going to go munch a bit and get rid of it! Hope your day went well, everyone! |
Hi GGs,
Yes, I have been missing in action. :o It’s been a busy time here. We went back up to NY State to LeRoy this past weekend and bought a car on the way up, in Corning. We finally junked the old Volvo wagon – I was not unhappy to see it go. It had the very annoying habit of stopping completely in weather above 95 degrees. Three years ago, at my DDs wedding it conked out on the way to the ceremony! :( Luckily some friends came along and gave us a ride. The only way to get it going again was to go underneath with an icebag!! Anyway, our same friend in Corning works for a guy who deals in foreign cars, and we got a sleek Audi (2007) with a sunroof. He is coming to the Cape to deliver it this weekend. I have read postings for May and looks like you are doing well. Zoe – sorry to read about the passing of your nephew. I know you are going to be on the road soon- please have a safe trip. Rosey – WOW!! You are an inspiration. Almost 100#. Glad your weather is warming up. Rain Rain and more rain here! Keep up the walking challenges – but go slow. Donna – Thanks for poking me on Facebook to rejoin the GG posts. Tea – You are doing great too. Keep it up!! Bobbi – loved reading about your garden and climbing plants. Send pics when you’re done. Our clematis is about to bloom – it goes over an arch leading to the front dooorway. Gayle – Wow – good luck with the hearing devices. What are they – at 6K they must be fantastic. Hope you insurance will help with the cost. Love the picture of you and Maddie. Karen31 – Glad you seem to be having a good time there at Bransons. Lynn – glad you got your AC. Is it raining there too? Nancy – Have loved looking at your fashion photos. Yes – I like the read skirt also..can’t wait to see how you dress it up and put it all together. No- you definitely did not look like a clown…loved the split skirt too. I shop the thrift stores too. If you ever get out here to the Cape, there are a thousand of them..seems each church has one. Maryea – You do sound determined. Keep it up. Freda – Yes the weather here is just as unpredictable. It is rain and 50s until Sunday – when we may finally see the sun and 85 degree weather. Karen in FL – Hope your face is healing and is less painful…Loved the bridge story though. Laf-a-lot – Hi – Hope things are hunky dorey in CA. Oh – Hi Phylis from FL – I do remember you! Ok, I probably missed someone…so sorry for that. Bye for now.. Lyn |

Donna, Actually Tim had a bed to himself--- the girls and I had the other one!! LOL!!! In some of the pictures you can see where I pushed the chairs up to side of the bed so the "girls" wouldn't try to jump off the bed in the night. The room was hard wood floors and the beds set up pretty high! It was so funny when we first got there we opened the door to come in and as soon as Sissy's feet hit the hardwood floor she set down like a mule and wouldn't budge!!! I had extra blankets that I use in their airline kennels so I had to spread them around on the floor for her to walk on!! Yep, I did that!! She would walk on the blanket and stretch out as far as she could and then run to the next blanket! Guess she doesn't like hardwood!! Ginger didn't care as long as she knew she had her food and water and was sleeping with mom!!
Well, I think I'm going to go and watch some TV and then maybe call it a night. I have The biggest loser on DVR so I will want to watch that too. Goodnight everyone |
Hey GGs,
Haven’t done too much today, except sleep! Didn’t manage to get to bed much earlier last night, & then I couldn’t go to sleep. So, at midnight, I gave up & started trying on clothes - those culottes, & some blouses & belts & jewelry I already had, plus a couple of new blouses. Well, I think I managed to put together a couple of “looks” that I liked - one dressy & one casual. When I get around to dragging my camera out again, I’ll run them by you all, & see what you think. Finally got back in the bed, & made it to sleep about 2 hours before the alarm went off. So, I’ve been napping off & on all day. Good day for it, chilly & kind of dreary. Mary, I feel like the mental part of losing weight is MORE important than the physical part! At least it’s been that way for me. When I finally managed to convince myself not to eat unless I was really hungry (except for weekly my pig-out meal & my night-time snack - those I’m allowed, hungry or not), things started being easier. At first I was having constant arguments - with myself!, about that, but it’s finally getting to be habit. Sounds like you’re doing really good with that! Bobbi, we always have squirrels eating out of our bird feeder too. At first we were thinking about trying to put it on some kind of pole they couldn’t climb, but I decided I don’t mind if they eat too. And, it’s fun to watch them. I might have to try planting some of those sweet peas you mentioned. Most of the flowers I’ve planted this year have managed to survive, so far (amazing!), so maybe they would too. Rosey, you are just doing so good with your weight loss. Two more pounds! Yay! Freda, hope your weather stays warm & dries up all that mud! Good for you on getting your hair cut & colored! I’m sure it feels good to have that done! I’m wanting to get a pedicure, but I keep putting off even calling & finding out the price. I usually hate the way my feet look, but the one time I had a pedicure (several years ago my mom paid for me to have one as my birthday present), I liked the way my feet looked so much, I went out & bought several pairs of sandals to show them off! So, since I’m thinking I might want to wear sandals this year, I need to get a pedicure! KarenMO, glad you’re home. Sounds & looks like you had a wonderful trip! Guess the "girls" did too, in spite of the wood floors? Donna, hope that headache’s gone. How often do you have to go to those horrible meetings? And, isn’t there any way to get out of them?! Hi! Lyn. Glad Donna dragged you back. Hope you enjoy that new car - sounds like it was waaay past time to junk the old one! I just love thrift stores - now you’ve got me wanting to visit the Cape! (Though with all those stores to shop in, I’d be broke in no time!) KarenFL, sure hope your face gets all healed up soon! I'd be thinking about suing that doctor! They're supposed to heal, not hurt!! Getting late! I'd better go! Bye. NCNancy |
Good morning GG's,
Two days down ~ two to go. I have a couple questions: Karen3 ~ (Had to wipe Dash down with a Downy pad before he stopped panicing.) When you do this ~ is the wipe dry, or do you moisten it first? NC Nancy ~ (weekly my pig-out meal) ~ did you do this right along as you lost the weight, or after you had lost most of it? Just wondered ~ I was thinking of maybe doing something along those lines ~ have something to look forward to. I have tried different versions of it before, but have trouble stopping, or getting back on track after. I will have to keep experimenting. Well, I would so much rather stay here with you all, but gotta go finish getting ready for work. Hope you all have a wonderful day. Take care |
Good Morning, All....
Lovely to hear from all of you! Nancy, I'm looking forward to seeing the pics of your new outfit potentials! At least you don't get up to eat when you can't sleep; creative fashioning seems like a much better alternative! KarenMO, glad you and the girls (and Tim) had a good time! I laughed at the hardwood floor story! KarenFL, how's the face today? We're having rain here in Denver (and I think down south where "the buddy" is). All the precip we didn't get all winter we're getting now! Well, we're getting a lot of it, anyway! What is the Downy pad doing for Dash? I think I missed something. Lyn, nice long post! Glad to see you! I hope that new car is a good one and that you enjoy! Bobbi, please send pictures of your lovely garden when it's abloom'... Nothing much to report! I have a bit of domestic drudgery to do, as well as some errands. Weight is stable, life is good! Have a good day, everyone! |
Good morning! Well, the Wii seemed surprised to see me this morning!! HA! The little sign came up and said "Is that Karen? It has been three days since we've seen you!" The weight is up 3.3 pounds since last time but I expected it. You can't eat ham steak, and even though I had salads the rest of the dinners they were huge( I know I didn't have to eat it all) but I did. Plus, the motels had a fabulous continental breakfast and I love biscuits and gravy (felt like my Dad was right there with me!) so I had them the last 2 breakfasts there. I went to the breakfast thinking that it would be eng. muffins, bagels, juice, coffee and maybe some fruit---they had dry cereal, oatmeal, waffles, biscuits and gravy, sausage, pastries, I didn't have any pastires though! So I have my work cut out for me the next couple weeks to get back to where I was! I know drinking lots of water will help with all the sodium so between that and working with the wii--- I hope to have a better report next week. BUT I still had lots of fun and enjoyed it!

Hi Everyone,
Going to dinner tonight with my DD & SIL so I am trying to eat light today - did 2 hours at the gym this morning. Our local restaurants have reduced-price menus on Thursdays & we are going to one of the fanciest in the area - Marsha Brown's. I have never been there. Here's the link for their Supper Menu - http://www.marshabrownrestaurant.com/pdf/suppermenu.pdf and here's the link for their Dessert Menu - http://www.marshabrownrestaurant.com...ssert_Menu.pdf Lynn |
