PT, has your Momma had her eyes checked lately? Methinks it might be time for new glasses? :?:
Good job on the loss, Gayle! See? I KNEW you could do it….now, just hang with us for the long haul, girl… :cheer3:
Mary and Karen3, I had terrible problems with my right hip and leg for over a year….oddly, it would be at its worst when I was lying in bed, but it would start to ache badly, and my foot would even start to go numb if I stood on it for too long. They did all sorts of tests, and ended up telling me the bursa was inflamed (bursitis) in my hip socket. Taking Ibuprophen seemed to be their only suggestion aside from prescribing pain meds, which I don’t really care to use. Since I’ve lost some weight, the problem has pretty much disappeared (knock on wood).
Wilma, I can’t even imagine working in a jail! When I was just starting out as a social worker for the Department of Social Services in Massachusetts, I had to work with some families in which one parent or the other was incarcerated. I remember the rigamarole you had to go through to get in to see them, and also some of the craziness that I witnessed. Ack! If I had to keep on dealing with that kind of stress, I’d be a lot heavier than I am now, since I tend to EAT when stressed. :o
Bobbi, if I am half as active as you are when I retire, I’ll be very pleased with myself. You are a real dynamo, lady! Out planting flowers in 100 degree weather, are you? Good grief, I’d be inside drooping with a cool cloth draped across my forehead and sipping a mint julep. (I just KNOW I was a southern belle in a former life!)
Glad you’re doing better, Lynn. Hope everything else is going well.
Rosey, your husband sound like ME!!! I absolutely HATE anyone hovering over me if I’m not feeling well. I prefer to just be left alone to crawl away into my cave (under the covers) and lie there consumed in my own misery until I get to feeling better, at which point I want OUT! Speaking of which, I have just spent two truly miserable days with a horribly upset stomach. My DH is up in NH helping our friend with some mowing and repairing, which is actually a GOOD thing, because he is most definitely a hoverer. On Tuesday, I had meetings virtually all day at work, and never got to have any breakfast or take a lunch break. By the time I finished up the last meeting, it was time to pack up and go home. I stopped to run a few errands, got home at @ 7:00, and DS came in shortly after. I was starving but hadn’t had time to cook anything, and he suggested getting pizza, and I jumped at it. (Big mistake). I ate FOUR pieces. Okay, it was a small one, but still….4 pieces is too many, and it’s DEFINITELY too many on a completely empty stomach that isn’t used to processing grease and all that cheese and stuff. Auuuuuurrrrrgh. No more than ten minutes after eating, I started feeling queasy, and ended up with my stomach in knots, my esophagus feeling like it was on fire, and in a cold sweat. Couldn’t sit, lie down, or stand up without being in pain. Took every kind of stomach/gas remedy I could find in the house, but ended up in pain until close to 3:00 in the morning. My stomach wasn’t hurting, but was still feeling pretty fragile yesterday, and is just getting back close to normal today. I was so GLAD that DH wasn’t around. DS had gone out to play some basketball with a few friends, so he didn’t witness his mother writing about in agony, which I was very grateful for. I’ve had this happen once or twice before when I ate something I shouldn’t have…you’d think I’d know my body a little better by now. (That’s what happened when you deliberately climb off the wagon…betcha that won’t happen again anytime soon!)
Karen31, I’m sure you’ll be seeing some weight loss after a summer of swimming every day.
Okay back to work for moi…
Freda, wherefore art thou? And, oh, Lordie, please let Isabella be okay.
:grouphug:

Hola, All...
A little late in the day... been running like a crazy person!
Wilma, I was a cop for 15 years, then did 5 years in the county jail as a deputy. Not the life for me! I was very happy to get out of it and went into business for myself. I got the nursing license in between time, but I went back to being on my own after just a year in the hospital. I don't do well with micromanagement and dysfunction, both of which was rampant in detention and the hospital (lots of similarities, actually!)...

Rosey, good luck tomorrow! I hope the dr visits (give my love to Dr. Turd!) go well! I'll bet you're getting excited for this to HAPPEN!

Everyone, hope you're well. Missy PT/Zoe, what kind of fun stuff do you have planned for the weekend? Will you have those beautiful babies with you? Are you feeling better??????????

Everyone, be safe!

Good Morning!
I'm too tired to gab this morning, we had thunder and lightning all thru the nite and 'Charlie' our sweet English Setter cried outside the bedroom door aaaaaaaaall night. I should have let him come in and sleep on the bed but he's such a bed hog. DH yelled at him this morning about keeping him up in the night, then I got mad at DH because Charlie can't help that he's scared. Actually dogs and cats are a lot smarter than people when the weather gets back, they know enough to run downstairs to the basement.
Donna...didn't know you wore the Blue, how interesting!
Good luck Rosey on your doc appointments, let us know what doc turd says.
I'm too tired to write anymore but I'm thinking of you all. I gotta go pick up windfalls again, that's an everyday job. Yesterday I took a bunch of garden stuff plus windfall apples into one of my sisters house. She called last night and said what beautiful apples they were and she'd made Apple Crisp and everyone gobbled it right up, she wants more apples. In the past we've never sprayed our apples, I hate chemicals on my food. But our apples were pretty wormy last year so DH sprayed our apples twice this year. What a difference, I don't have to waste any apples, I do cut the bruise out where they fell to the ground. On that note, I'm outta 'ere.

Hello everyone! It's a hot day today..not sure of temp but feels hot. Know it was suppose to get about 90 by the weekend so think we will.

The pesticide guy came this morning, right on time. He would not allow us outside when he sprayed which my dh did not like but I think is a legal thing. Still he (sprayer) was not wearing a mask himself. I'm not sure I did the right thing buying the service but guess it has to do some good. We don't see that many bugs of any kind but the plants show them (they also are supposed service the trees, plants and around garden) and we have had carpenter ants in the past so am sure we probably have some around. We also have lot of spider and their webs outside. Get tired of running into them. He was supposed to knock them down including the little spider sacs. He also agreed to put granules around the wood pile. Well, after he left I walked around the house and didn't feel he did a very good job. I could tell he sprayed around the foundation and I saw him spray the front eaves and he brushed off some of the spider webs but other than that couldn't tell he did much. There were still a lot of webs/sacs too. So my dh called the company and they are sending out someone again tomorrow. Also the lady told him that they are not supposed to tell us to go indoors.

LOL I started this post a few hours ago but got distracted and now am back finishing it up. My dh said it is currently 98 degrees! That is way hot for us!

Ladies, Just to let you know, I am really enjoying chatting, but my computer keeps quiting, so when I'm not checking in it is my computer not me. I have been doing good other wise, and pushing forward. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Happy Saturday, All.......
Rosey, isn't that Apple-Pecan salad at Wendy's YUMMY??? I love the pomegranate dressing, too... good! It's a special treat, though, because they upped the price a buck and because it's over 700 calories. It's pretty darn good, though...... To get to the real stuff, though, how did the appointment go, insofar as encouraging? pleased? moving forward? I hope Dr. Turd has more skill than he has personality!

Is anyone doing anything fun this weekend? I was craving sweet, so I made some oatmeal cookies, took many to the neighbors and ate too many. Consequently, I'm carb-blah and want to take a nap! That's not a bad idea!

PT/Zoe, everyone, hope you're having a good weekend! Stay cool! Be safe! Find Isabella!! Bobbi, you seem to be able to get in touch with the moderator; can she email Isabella on our behalf? I asked her in a post a few weeks ago but got no response.

maryea 08-14-2010 07:03 PM

Good afternoon everyone! Well, another pesticide guy came and did his thing. He showed us the granules they use around the trees etc and they are very very small so probably can't be seen once in the soil. We may have mis-judged the other man and I told him so but the fact that we couldn't observe and the fact that he left so many spider webs made us concern that perhaps he didn't do a very good job otherwise too. So we cleaned the spider webs more thoroughly this time and we had him do a little more spraying and spreading the granules and this time we made sure we observed though we kept a safe distance away...as I mentioned before they don't even use masks but want us to be careful. We also found out we were to water right away...the notes left by the other guy were rather ambiguous and my dh stopped me from watering but I thought we were to water. Well, turned out I was right (this time LOL) and we were supposed to water. So I'm doing it now. Then I got mixed up and think I may have watered a few places that he sprayed and realized too late that I was only to water where he spread the granules. Maybe something is wrong with my brain:?: Can't seem to get this thing right and it doesn't seem like it should be this difficult! Well they come back in 30 days so if I did rinse off anything I shouldn't have we will get it all redone then.

Otherwise it's been a pretty quiet day for me. Got some house decor items and a couple bras I ordered online. Always fun to get something new.

I was laughing this am how it's usually pretty quiet in our neighborhood so if anything happens everyone gets interested...today our neighbors across the street are removing a basketball hoop they have had for many years. Told my dh about it and he gets a big smile and instantly gets up to go out and watch. Yes, poor guy, he really is that desperate for something to do! :D

As if a broken leg weren't enough, last night he came down with gout! He has taken medication to prevent attacks for many years and last night he realized that since the surgery he had not been taking it! We ordered it and got it but he had forgotten! So he started back taking it and it seems to be responding to it. So hopefully we will still get to church tomorrow. Last night wasn't too sure the way his foot looked.

Wilma - hope you get your computer running better soon. I hate having computer problems!

jess1 08-15-2010 12:01 PM

Good Morning, All...
Just started the second book in Outlander....... all I can say is: oh, my! I might be a CultCutie, too!

akrosey49 08-15-2010 02:34 PM

Morning everyone..starting to feel more like myself..those trips to anchorage really wear me out..im thinking since they told me im very low on iron might explain why im so tired? Jess i loved the outlander series glad you are now into them..another series similar and just as good is the "Into the Wilderness" by sara donati i couldnt put them down and was sad when i read the last one..you asked if i was pleased with the dr visits and i am as its a step closer to the surg..hoping you all are having a great weekend ((hugs)))) rosey
