Good Morning, All!

Lovely morning! Doing a bit of laundry... fun never ends! No, Bobbi, I'm not an only child. My brother and his wife live close to Granny (mom) and they're very good to her, but she likes it when I do things (DIL drama, you know!!). My sister lives fairly close, too. The other two brothers are either out of state or on the other side of the state. I don't mind. Granny is good company, and, gawd, I owe her so much!

I'm going to attempt to put before and after pictures on here... and you'd better be able to tell which is which! If you can't, please don't tell me! (About a month ago, Granny asked if my diet was working yet?)

Nothing new here, status quo. Rosey, is your DH better? PT/Zoe, yo! Later... be safe!

Karen31 08-10-2010 11:03 AM

Great Pictures Donna!!!! And there is no doubt which one is which!! Now if I posted a before and after I'm afraid my after would look worse than my before!! Does that tell you anything???

Karen3 08-10-2010 11:32 AM

Morning Chickadees.....barely hobbling around this morning. Think have an old fashion back spasm. Nothing but quiet will help it. Okay sitting and laying down but standing is hard....forget walking!

Jess...Wow! the pictures show a new you.

Karen31...You look good in red! red car or red dress!

Bobbie...They can't pull up the marsh grass cause the marsh would then disappear. Burning the marsh off doesn't get rid of the oil down in the roots. We burned our marsh every Spring to keep it green. Just jamming holes in a marsh and erosion starts. Think of your lawn covered in vasoline 6" deep on a hot summer day.Plus nobody knows what the chemicals they poured out to breakdown the oil will do to sea/plant life. How did the chemicals change when mixed with salt oil sun etc?....a big nasty stew out there.

Dh just showed me a hugh fat hairy(dead) spider he killed next to my bedroom slider. This bugger was squished and still the size of doughnut. Dh says he saved my life....true I'd have died of fright if I saw it moving.

Been doing one house cleaning job a day with a lot of sitting between stages. So time to start dusting. Got kitchen finished yesterday. Maybe the house angel or troll will vaccum tomorrow. hugs, karen3

Good Morning Everyone,

I stopped the antibiotic yesterday (was supposed to take it for 3 more days). So far today, I feel MUCH better.

I see the doctor on Friday.

As soon as my appetite comes back, I will feel like I'm back to normal. Do any of you watch Cake Boss? My DD & SIL plan to visit that bakery tomorrow.

Lynn

Bobbi ~ maybe you could split the hot carmel roll?

Hello Mary, Freda, Zoe, Rosey

Made it through the dr's appointment yesterday ~ she didn't make any comment about the weight ~ I think she is frustrated with me ~ weight ~ even though it is down since starting WW, it was up since my last visit with her. But, I feel like I will have made some good progress by the time I have to see her again (6 months - unless I have some problem that makes me have to see her sooner).

Got ingredients at the store last night to make up a batch of the 0 point garden vegetable soup ~ so gonna tackle that today.

Hope you all are having a good day.

Take care

We went for our routine doctor visit today. My a1c was up a little at 6.8 but I expected that due to the stress, infection and higher bs the last couple months. My bp was good. My triglycerides were up to 399...they have been rising. I know I still get too much fat...mostly unsaturated but still fat. I'm supposed to limit it to 45 mg and I often get 53 or 68 and occasionally more. So have to try harder on that I guess. Funny thing to me is..... the doctor recommends fish oil (which I already take). It's funny to me because fish oil is fat itself but it supposedly works. He's going to give me a prescription for it that might work better than the OTC kind.

He says the leg pain sounds like nerve pain and may be something I just have to learn to live with. It may be neuropathy too but so far I'm declining the meds for neuropathy. They do not stop further damage nor heal the damage...just decrease the pain and I still can do that by taking more regular OTC pain meds and by getting better control of my bs. At least all this is making me even more conscientious about what I eat. Most of it comes down to diet and exercise. Same old story...oh, he (doc) DID notice that I'd lost a few pounds....YES!! Sometimes he doesn't even notice..

dh was great except his triglycerides were just a little high. Doc wants us both to have bone density tests done. This will be Joe's first time but I already have osteoporosis. Doc noticed Joe's weight loss too and said he is just right now.

I had my dh drive today for the first time since his fracture...I'm tired of having a back-seat driver!:dizzy: His surgeon said he could drive and he did fine.

I haven't gotten anything done here at home today. It's a cooler day so don't think I need to do anything in the yard, but need to do some housework.

Hope you are all doing fine and that I haven't put you all to sleep with my doctor's report. :o

Glad you all seem to be doing so well, and hanging in there. Glynne, I know what you mean about the Dr. It seems I can always do great until I need to go to the Dr. then my weight is up, and he say's you really need to lose weight, and I say I will, and he sounds like yeah right. LOL. I am really trying to keep going. I know with my heart condition I really, really need to do it. My med don't help, as they keep my heart rate so low, on purpose that I know my metabalism suffers. But if they raise my heart rate my heart will enlarge more, and then I may need major surgery. It is a no win situation, with my heart rate.

Have a great evening everyone,

Wilma

 I purchased some close-out perennials yesterday and have to get right out and plant them, suppose to be in the 100's again today.

Donna, you do look fantastic!:carrot: What a difference! Your face says it all on the first picture, you're not very happy. The second picture you're just beaming! I don't get what your mom said, is your diet working yet?

Good Morning, All...
Thank you all for your kind words! I DO feel great! Bobbi, about a month ago, Granny/Mom asked if I was still on my "silly little diet" and was it working yet?.... apparently NOT! She is not the person to go to if you're her child and need support or validation! I love her, but I don't necessarily LIKE her all the time!!

Lots of errands to run today. It's supposed to be "warmish" today, but we're coming into 4-5 days of mid 80's cool down! Fall is coming! Yeah!

Hope all are well. Lynn, Mary, feeling better??? Everyone, be safe!

glynne 08-11-2010 04:18 PM

Hello all,

Had a good weigh in at WW. Down 5.4 pounds. I know that won't happen every week, but it's a start.

I had a sad realization, that as the weight drops, so does the number of points you are allowed for food ~ that was my Duh moment ~ LOL. But, you can earn more food points by exercising ~ maybe that will be the thing that encourages me to do the exercise.

Bobbi, I remember you telling about using seasonings on your popcorn. I searched back and found the post telling about it. You mentioned that you found some at Walmart ~ what section of the store would I find that in?

Well, have some errands to run.

Hope you all are doing well.

Take care

Hi Everyone,

Another stiffling day here, but it's better than winter, with the snow and ice. Donna, you look great. I can see a big differnce, and as Bobbi said, in your second picture you are beaming.

It was a long day at work today. But I'm home now, so am going to try to relax a little. Working in a jail can be stressful at times.

Glynne, I never tried ww, but I know of many who have done it, and it really has worked great for them.

Have a great evening everyone,

Wilma

Hi everyone! I haven't gotten anything done in this house again today but here I am on the computer! :o We started today by going to Joe's PT session. He is getting stronger...last night and today he was able to do the two toughest exercises much better! I'm proud of him cause I know it's not easy. Most days he walks about a short block plus around the yard so that's helping too!

After the PT we had a little shopping to do and had to deposit a small check I'd earned online. After I got home we had lunch, then dh reminded me it was (already?!!) time to fertilize the garden plants. So I did that and watered them.

My weight is holding at least which surprised me as I know I overate last night. So far doing better today but the nights are still the biggest challenge.

Glynne - congrats on the weightloss! Glad WW is helping you.

Jess - You look very nice...happy for you! Had to laugh about your mom....I know how it is. I have a dd who never noticed when I lost a significant amount of weight one time.

Well, my leg is really hurting so that tells me I need to get up and moving.

Hope you are all doing well!!

Bobbolink 08-12-2010 10:13 AM

Good Morning girls!
Glynne...congrats on the weight loss, feels good doesn't it. The popcorn seasonings I use are from 'Kernel Season's', google it and you can order it direct. They make a butter spray you put on the popcorn that helps the seasonings stick with no calories. They make many different kinds of seasonings, my fav is Ranch. Last night I had Parmesan & Garlic on my popcorn, 2 calories per serving.
Lynn...We watch the food channel all the time and I don't remember seeing Cake Boss. I do watch the cupcake challenges, same thing? Glad you're starting to feel better!

Rosey...:hug:I have a couple of dresses I need to sew in but my garden keeps getting in the way. I have windfall apples every day now and DH has been peeling them for me, great help. Are you altering your clothes or starting over from scratch?
Quote:

plan on doing some sewing as my clothes are getting looser..Jess amazing dif in your pics..wtg

Wilma...do you plan the meals as well as cook for the inmates?

Working in a jail can be stressful at times.
Mary...how refreshing to hear about hubby trying to get his life back, actually exercising and walking. It doesn't sound like he's a complainer but a doer!

Hey Freda, Zoe, both Karens, Donna. By the way Donna, how long did it take you to lose the weight?
Time to get going on the day, I found this recipe this morning for zucchini chips. I added the suggestions of other viewer that said the recipe needed garlic, onion, cayenne or pepper flakes. They didn't give an exact amount, use your own taste to determine that. Have a good one.

Quote:

Baked Zucchini Chips
2 medium zucchini, cut into 1/4-inch
slices 1/2 cup seasoned dry bread crumbs
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
2 egg whites or egg beater
Onion and garlic powder to taste
Option: cayenne or red pepper flakes
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 475 degrees F (245 degrees C).
2. In one small bowl, stir together the bread crumbs, pepper and Parmesan cheese. Place the egg whites in a separate bowl. Dip zucchini slices into the egg whites, then coat the breadcrumb mixture. Place on a greased baking sheet. Spray tops with Pam spray,
3. Bake for 7 minutes in the preheated oven, then turn over, spray again with Pam and bake for another 10 minutes, until browned and crispy.
Use your convection oven if you have one.
