Lindyloo.... Welcome! I'm fairly new, too, and I can tell you great certainty that this is a fine group to join. They're still speaking to me, and I drove them crazy with "stupid" questions... and things that I couldn't figure out... and continued/continuing whining and moaning. They're all great! Speaking of whining, I shoveled, and I'm on my second Aleve. The snow is really coming down, very wet! Isabella, I'm so sorry about your DIL's grandmother... such a horrible disease!

Health update -

Bad news - yes, it is lymphoma - something called cutaneous t cell lymphoma (CTCL).

Good news - the head of the dermatology practice that I go to at Fox Chase Cancer Center is a specialist in this type of lymphoma + my particular version of CTCL is typically responsive to treatment and generally takes a long time to move out of the skin and into the lymph system.

I am fine - my DD is a little crazed. Tough on only-children.

On the postitive side, I'm expecting good Christmas presents this year

Lynn

Lynn, sorry to hear about your diagnosis---BUT I LOVE THE ATTITUDE and that is more than half the battle!! Keep us updated and lots of prayers headed your way,

Welcome LindyLoo and Judy Lynn!! You're going to love it here! You can't find a better group of people for support and in general just fantastic listening ears!!

This is a question for all the "original" Golden Girls---do you remember when we had the address book for those who wanted to participate in it? The last time I tried to open it it wouldn't open at all. Is there a chance that we might be able to do that again? I know if I could still open it it would need to be updated anyway. What do you think?

Everyone have a good night. Stay warm if you are in the cold, snow!! I really don't miss it.....

Well, Lynn, "responsive to treatment" is the important thing - that and the Christmas presents, of course! You know we're all pulling for you, kid....just one more battle for you to win, right?
Bobbi, my mother was a nurse, and back to work herself when I was little - and yes, you're absolutely right on the money! There was never a night when my clothes weren't neatly laid out and ready for the next morning. I never thought about the origins of this habit of mine, but of COURSE I've been doing it ever since I was a child! I never thought anybody ever did it any differently! How interesting that you picked up on that! Oh, and add me, please, to the list of folks who'd like to take a look at your cabbage soup recipe, please.
Freda, wherefore art thou? I hope being back to work isn't keeping you away! I miss you!
Isabella, you are putting me to shame with your daily walks out in that cold air. I WILL do better, darn it! (Nice job finding that hoodie! Nobody likes a bargain better than yours truly! I am the original never-pay-full-price-for-anything gal)
Omigawd, Donna! All that snow! It's enough to make me choke on my morning coffee here! We had rain all day yesterday, and because my organization is building a new community center in Boston and "going green" with it, a few of my colleagues and I toured the "Artists for Humanity" building, which is a platinum level green building, and we climbed up onto the roof to see how their solar panels were installed - I was up there looking like a wild woman with my hair blowing all over the place, rain running all down my face...yes, I am a crazy woman. (Even I am amazed at some of the foolishness I get myself into). Anyway, we had that one weird snow blizzard that didn't stick to anything, and nothing since, for which I am extremely grateful.
Incidentally, if any of you happen to be noodling around on the computer and would like to see something interesting, google Artists for Humanity and check out their website, watch some of their student-produced videos and such. It's an amazing place!
Gayle, I wouldn't mind being in Houston right about now...
Hi Rosey, hi Karen! Welcome Judy Lynn and Lindy Loo!
Oh! We had Thai shrimp for supper last night, served over Miracle noodles. SO yummy, and about 450 calories. Can't beat that, huh?
Have a great day, y'all!!!

Hi evereyone,

Just joined the ranks of "losing" a really long post!!!

The weather here is just lovely. The colors are the best I've seen in a long time, due to the weather perhaps? I just hope it continues untill after Halloween. I hate seeing the little ones with coats over their costumes.

Lynn, so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. But Lymphoma is very treatable and you have LOTS of prayers coming your way. I totally believe they make a difference.

LindyLoo, Welcome. Come often. You get lots of support here. And it does make a difference.

Donna, No such thing as a "silly" question. We all had to find out the answers somwhere.

Karen, I don't remember the address book, but I think it's a great idea for the ones that would like to participate. Count me in!

Zo, I'm right here, i'm not going anywhere. I learned the hard way that I can't do it alone, I need the support. Didn't come around for awhile and gained back a bunch of weight. Which is finally gone, that goodness. I won't make that mistake again. I may be crazy, but i'm not dumb!!

Isabella, I saw one of those hoodies on QVC. I need one for the kids games. I used to worry about one messing up my hair. Now i'm more concerned about keeping warm!

Make it a good day,
freda

Good Morning Girls, it's raining cats and dogs here. Unfortunate for the farmers, we're surrounded by unpicked corn fields.
Karen...I printed out that list of all our addresses, I just dug it out and see part of it is missing. I have only 11 on the remaining list, Lynn Davis, Cat (FemmeCreole), Gramm Paula, Phyllis Herrmann, Woodlily, Zoe Riley, Lynard, you Karen 31 with Florissant, Co address, Moxie, Linda Smith and Piano51. My email address is wrong on it too.
Freda...been there, done that!

Welcome Lindy and Judy Lynn. We love having new posts.
Zoe...I never pay full price for anything either, I get a little high from purchasing clothes on the clearance racks. As far as the soup recipe, I did post it but I think the recipe went down the big black hole that gobbled up all the post when 3 Fat Chicks crashed. I'll post it again, I have a funeral this morning to go to.
Lynn...I'm so sorry to hear of your medical problems, my prayers are with you. Karen was right about your positive attitude, keep it up!

Thanks all for the warm welcome.
Just a skiff of snow last night and it's a little chilly here but suppose to warm up by the weekend. I sure hope so, I hate to see the little kids freeze when the're out halloween night.

Lynn - sorry to hear about the diagnosis. You have a great attitude though anad that will help you get through this.

I have to make a quick trip to Costco today and that's about it, although I may try to go to the gym.

Going to try and check out the rest of this site.

Have a great day everyone.

I (well, WE) are BURIED in snow! I thought I was sore yesterday, but today is going to be worse from a total repeat of the shoveling experience. I am not happy at this very moment! It's a lot easier to throw that stuff around when I'm not carrying a few extra pounds... even this little bit makes a huge difference in stamina! Last year we didn't get ANY snow until about March, so we're making up for it! It's supposed to be 61 here by Tuesday... ridiculous! Doesn't a bowl of chili sound good?

Yes, chili does sound good. As a matter of fact I'm making a huge potful this weekend for a church lunch. Jess, did I tell you, I love your avatar? It gives me a smile every time I look at it.

Lindyloo, we're getting the same kind of snow. Nothing is staying (yet).

Freda, my hoodie kept me warm this morning. Make sure you get a heavy one for this time of the year.

Zoe, I'm the same way for a great bargain. I picked up 2 exercise tank tops and 1 cap-sleeved golf shirt today at Walmart for $5 each. They'll be great for next summer. I rarely buy anything full price, unless it's shoes. I have to have good shoes (delicate feet, you know).

Karen31, Judy Lynn, Rosey and Bobbi Hope you all had a good day.

Lynn, you are in my prayers for a speedy recovery. And I'll say a prayer for your DD as well.

I was shopping today. I bought a few groceries and the tops I mentioned earlier. But the one thing I really wanted to find was something waterproof for my feet. When I got home from my walk in the rain my feet were wet and cold. I'm fine for clothing and stayed nice and warm and dry except for my feet. I did try on a great pair of boots but they wouldn't be suitable for a 5k walk as my feet need to be firmly planted in the boot. Every time I took a step my heel rubbed again the back of the boot. Now, that wouldn't be bad if I was just wearing them around the yard or shoveling but not for walking. What I want is something like a sneaker but waterproof or at least water resistant. The boots were $99 which also was somewhat discouraging. But I would have had them if they had been suitable as I'd never have wet feet in them. They also had slip proof soles. I'm going to look on the Sears website to see what they have. I'm a bit limited in my shopping where I live and there's only 1 more store to look in and I don't think they'll have anything. Maybe the Goodwill Center holds the key. . I'll be there next week volunteering but I'm guessing the picks will be even slimmer.

Have a great evening everyone.

Hi Karen,

I have the original one, but has some folks who do not want their info shared & some folks who are no longer part of our board.

I would be happy to make a new one for anyone who wants it.

Last time, we had name (first & last), address, phone number, email address, and birthday.
