Default Over 50 and in need of Support

Hello,

I can honestly say I have no idea what I am doing. I definitely don't know how to use this site but I am desperate. I've dieted almost all my life and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I have finally decided to go online to see if I can't get help from a group of women that have walked in my fat shoes. Can anyone tell me how to get started on this site and how the support system works?

Thanks so much for any help you are willing to toss my way.

I'll have a go. Just go to the Community Forum and click away! Whatever has a title that sounds interesting to you. You can join the age-related forums, or the ones that support whatever food plan you'll be using like WW, South Beach, Atkins, etc. You don't have to join any, just read them and see where you tend to go back every day. There's also Exercise, Challenges (I think there is a Christmas challenge - just jump right in, pick a goal and post whenever you can with Christmas as the time frame), Recipes, General Information...it's a great site.
Best of luck to you. And keep asking questions, there's SO many people here that love to share what they've learned.

Donna - welcome to 3FC!

I know exactly how you feel; that's why I joined this fantastic forum a few days ago myself. I've been trying to lose weight since the beginning of the year and just could not get focused. Not one for group meetings, I find a forum much more suited to my needs. The beauty of it is that you can pop in and out whenever you feel the need to get some support and not have to wait for a specific date and time on the calendar.

As Morrobay pointed out, the best thing to do is just start reading the forums, finding a topic that interests you. The general support forum is a great place to start. And I would encourage you to read some of the success stories, as they will inspire you to strive to reach your goal. No matter how much you think you have to lose, I guarantee you'll find someone who's lost more.

It sounds as if you've reached the point where the pain of being overweight has surpassed the pleasure of eating all the foods you want. I think we all have to reach our tipping point before we can truly focus on the task of getting into a healthy lifestyle.

Welcome aboard!

Hey!

I'd also like to point you to the Sticky threads at the top of each forum page. Sometimes you can find answers to questions about things like calorie counting, tips on using the site, and other information.

Glad to see you!

Jay

Hi Donna,

Welcome! You seem to be doing fine. So glad you joined 3FC. It is a powerful weapon in our war against weight.

Please feel free to join our Challenge up in the Sticky area. Also, feel free to join either/both of our discussion threads (the ones with the stars).

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Lynn

Hi Donna,

I'm over 50 and just joined yesterday, but I lurked here for a while first.

It's a great, informative site and everyone seems very friendly and helpful.

Like others said, there are many different groups and many different diets being followed, so you can look around and see what appeals to you.
