I'm only putting one week at at time, otherwise it gets too long and nobody cares what my stats from last week are anyway. I'll record each week and leave that up there for the duration.

I just found this site and I would love to join in with y'all! I started dieting this week, so I will include it if that's ok. My goal for Labor Day is to lose 25 pounds and get down to 175. Wouldn't that be wonderful!!!!

Birthday cake doesn't tempt me, unless it is cheese cake...mmmmm...oh never mind...

well, week one for me. It was a grueling six days on the cabbage soup diet (just the soup and some sugar free jello) and a switch to weight watchers on day 7. A "jump start" in poundage, but pretty tough to do.

I can't post links yet, so no pretty pictures. :-(

My weight loss was 7.5 pounds for the week. 17.5 pounds to go. Yikes - my goal is really optimistic!

I usually do something drastic to jump start my diet too, only I don't think I could last 7 days! Great results

Thanks bobbo-link! Even though it is mostly that first week water-weight drop, it still feels good.

I agree. Even though the first week is all water, it's enough motivation for me to keep it up. Or it was in the past anyway!

Hi Oogi,
YIKES!!!! 25 lbs is a LOT! I’ll be happy if I lose 5. I’m with you on the cheesecake – I LOVE it.

Hi Bobbi,
Maybe that’s what we should do – something drastic for 1 week. Any ideas?

Lynn......my jump starts is simply staying under 1,000 calories for 1 week. It always works and one week is no big deal. You can find so many, many foods that will fill you up. Make a big pot of fat free vegetable soup and eat for lunch, nothing else. You can eat some fruit for afternoon treats and more vegetables than meat for supper. Stay away from starchy vegetables for the week and lay off the bread.

I ended June at 161, I started July at 162. I ended July at 159.5. I feel that I am learning though all the time about what it takes for me to lose. I have to watch my portions (no more than one serving ever!) and I have to make sure I space my eating out. I tend to be a snacker and will snack too often. Sometimes now I actually set my oven timer for two hours so I won't snack too soon after a meal! But it is working. I am on a downward trend even though it is very slow.

I am changing my goal. It will now be to at least maintain 159 (or hopefully lower) by Labor Day). I have set so many higher goals and failed to meet them so I am going very slowly this time. Another goal is to continue to work at getting my blood sugars (bs) lower. I dropped my AIC in July from 6.7 to 6.5 so that's good and I hope to drop it more. I probably will not post as much detail and maybe not so often but I will be posting. This will be my August spot.

8/1/09 160, not a good eating day. We took our gs (9) fishing and had a picnic. I sat and watched them and ate way too much and continued that into the evening. Now I think why didn't I get up and take a walk or something? Well, it was pretty hot that's my excuse. Hopefully I'll do better tomorrow.

8/4/09 163.5!! I've had a couple difficult, stressful, kinda sick days and have had trouble maintaining control of my eating. It's amazing how fast I can gain. I had lunch out and even though my dh and I shared the calories were still too high so know I will go over again today. Trying to keep my carb servings down at least. Hope I can get back on track soon. This looks like it is going to be a difficult month in more than one way with family issues but will do my best. Haven't been to gym recently due to company and feeling sick but did exercise a few minutes today here at home.

8/6/09 163 Still have cold and coughing a lot, yet I never lose my appetite! In fact I sometimes think I tend to eat more when I'm sick! Have done well today though 1428 calories and 12 carb servings. My bs in am was very high (for me) due to the way I have been eating. Hoping now to be back on track.

8/7/09 162 still not feeling very well..coughing less but very tired. Went to fair today but really wasn't up for it. Did well at the fair (with my eating) but did terrible tonight!
bs good.

8/8/09 162.5 feeling better physically though still tired. Still ate way too much yesterday. 1434 calories, 11 carb servings.
8/09/09 161 1444 calories, 11 carb servings, bs good.
8/10/09 had to edited yesterdays' entry as dated incorrectly. Today was much easier. Feeling better. I am making myself eat more at meals and seems to keep me feeling more full so don't snack so much. So far so good at least. 1245 calories, 12 carb servings.
8/11/09 159.5 (FINALLY!!)
8/12/09 158!! YEA!! A new low! 1545 calories and 12 carb servings.
8/13/09 159.5, went a little crazy shopping today as it's fun now that I can actually fit into some things..not everything but getting better. I did well on my diet until tonight...then messed up royally tonight! I made a dinner that I didn't like but ate it anyway, then spent the evening eating everything in sight because I wanted stuff that tasted good! How stupid can I be?!! Well, tomorrow is another day but I am tired of sabotaging myself like this! eta: Ok, took a deep breath, trying to think positive...1. Even though I overate, I didn't eat as much as I would have just a few months ago, 2. I ate high calorie, and high carb but otherwise basically healthy stuff, and 3. I HOPE I've learned a lesson! I will pay for this tomorrow though both in weight and bs!
8/14/09 160.5, 1520 calories, 11 carb servings
8/16/09 160.5
8/18/09 159
8/23/09 160.5
8/25/09 160.5 Really struggling to stay below 160!!
8/29/09 162.5! Doesn't look like I am going to make my goal ..it's been a difficult month and I have actually GAINED weight! But I keep trying and did better today. 1396 calories and 11 carb servings.
3/30/09 162, 1400 calories, 11 carb servings.
3/31/09 161 disappointed that I gained weight this month but somedays I just have trouble controlling my eating and there were too many of them this month! It is not enough to know how to eat you have to do it too! So I am back where I was at the end of June. :-( 1396 calories, 13 carb servings. 30 min stretch, 40 min cardio.

Hi Mary,

It is amazing to me how many times I must learn the same things about my eating.

Good for you losing and lowering your bs.
