Merry Christmas to everyone!

Be good, but not too good!

I'm waiting for the sun to come up this lovely Christmas morning, and trying not to eat while I sit here stressing. I've been up all night because about four hours ago, an 80' fir tree fell from the snow load and it landed 10' from my house. It wasn't uprooted. The weight of the snow just snapped the tree off about 10' up from the ground. My front yard is filled with tree (I guess I should think positive, and say firewood).

The reason I'm freaking out though, is I have some huge 100'+ fir trees leaning over my house (leaning further than I've ever seen them, and I've had some big snow storms here), and if one of them comes down, I'm in big trouble! It's still snowing and will continue for the next three days, at least. On Saturday it is supposed to warm up enough the snow should start melting off the trees, but that seems so far away right now.

I already lost my greenhouse to snow load a few days ago, and part of my back porch is looking pretty sad too.

And the worst part is...this isn't even January. January and February are usually worse than December. I'm hoping we are just all getting our winter storms out of the way early this time around. This seems to be going on all over the country.

Be safe everyone (lots of snowy roads for Christmas travel) and have a wonderful day with your loved ones.

Merry Christmas everyone! This morning I did 12 sets of exercise but will not drink my usually 8+ glasses of water. We have DH gift exchange this a.m. with his best friend, then a large family get-together at my dad's place this afternoon, then on to MIL's place. I do not want to spend time in the bathroom so I'll lay low on the water today. I'll also expect a chunk of coal in my stocking tomorrow when we open presents with DD, SIL, grandsons, and DH. (We have to work around everyone's work, other parties and have our party tomorrow) DH is making prime rib, yum!
Have a great day!
P.S. I have been very, very bad with eating choices, I'll probably get two chunks of coal.

Good morning all....The weather report says foggy and then cloudy but the eyeball report says a bluebird day with not a cloud in the sky. The boys went fishing at 4am again today. Seems that a buddy shrimper pulled up a bunch of grouper and my boys got the coordinates and heading that way at dawn. I tell you that boy toys get more elaborate the older they get. They deer hunted Tuesday and only had sound shots....that where you hear a deer but can't see the deer....that's the way alot of accidental shootings happen to hunting buddies. So no vension yet.

am doing a small cheat....should weigh in today, but know am having fluid retention...rings are tight so gonna wait until tomorrow and push the water today. I lie to me often.....gesh, promise me a nap every morning to get me out of bed and dumb me falls for same lie every darn day.

If you are a shopper good luck today.....The malls here are packed.

Kids all checked in and had a wonderful Christmas. DGD loved getting email from Dash. He has had several ideas for her to research online. I had a betsywetsy at 8 and this kid has her own website. sighhhhhhhhhhh

Off to get my nails done.......Karen3

Just a quick good morning all, DH and I have to work on our driveway again. He tried to get some of the high snow yesterday but we had a east wind that blew hard packed snow in and it's almost impossible for the snow blower to get through it. I'll check in later, I have some Christmas pictures to share.

Hope everyone had a great holiday! We had relatives for Christmas Eve and went to visit on Christmas Day. I did the cooking Christmas Eve so there was a good variety of good and bad things to eat. I stayed pretty balanced and chose not to eat dessert in order to indulge in mashed potatoes and gravy.

Went out shopping yesterday. The crowds weren't as bad as I thought they'd be, I guess the economy is keeping away the after Christmas shoppers too. Got some Christmas wrap, bows, etc. for next year so I'm all set. The weather has been really warm here - up to 40+ degrees yesterday so most of the snow on my deck has melted. It was at least 12" deep on Wednesday. What melted yesterday is freezing today, so the roads and parking lots are covered with ice.

We have out-of-town company until next week, so until things are back to normal I will probably be too busy to check in other than for my "accountability". Next Wednesday we are going out-of-town until the following weekend.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi recidivist, hope you didn't have too much trouble with the trees and snow. Come back and let us know.

Well, I've probably eaten my weight in junk over the last few days! DS's place is like Candy Land. So much to eat and so little room to eat as much as I did. Today was a little better although I did have a few chips, soda pop and ice cream but I didn't eat any chocolate or candy today. Tonight we had soup and fruit salad with sandwiches do things are getting back to normal. I haven't felt so uncomfortably full in such a long time that I'm looking forward to feeling empty for a change.

I didn't weigh in this morning as my scale is at home and I would be afraid to see the damage this week. So for the coming week it's on plan eating and some exercise. We do have a party/baby shower on Tuesday at home but I'll have more control over the food at home.

Bobbi, you're just gorgeous darling. I haven't been online since Christmas Eve and just noticed your avatar had been changed.

We had a white Christmas until Christmas day when we had quite a downpour of rain. It lasted most of the day and by Christmas night there wasn't any snow left to be seen. Friday the mild temperatures turned cold again and the same today. Cold, cold, cold but no snow. Supposed to get more snow tomorrow though.

I was shopping for a few minutes tonight. Had to get bread and some fruit. I stopped at the drug store too and bought a couple boxes of Christmas cards for next year at half price. I'm not buying any gift wrap until I use what I have stored up. I noticed some of the wrap that I have is quite old. I bought it years ago and I must have bought enough to wrap gifts for the next 20 years.

Must go and get some sleep. I'm starting to fall asleep at the computer. Catch you all later, probably when I get home on Monday night.

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Bobbi-- I love your new picture! Your DH is truly a lucky guy!

I know that I have gained over the last few weeks but plan on getting back on track soon! Our wedding anniversary is on New Year's eve so figure I'll get through that and then get 100% back on track. BUT I like being able to go out for dinner (weather permitting) on our anniversary and also love the champagne at midnight to bring in the New Year and watch the fireworks off of Pikes Peak! I'm trying to be a little better now so I won't be in total shock when I step on the scales!!

Take care everyone.

Hi Retiredone. Thanks for thinking of me. I'm fine and the leaning trees are straightening up and have dropped most of their snow. Thank goodness. I do have a number of temp repairs and bracing to do before the next big snow, and some teardowns and rebuilds of a few structures this spring and summer due to this storm, but at least most of the house (the critical parts) are still standing.

I just had to help a young man who slid off the road into a snow bank. He came knocking on my door less than an hour ago, and scared the bejeebers out of me. I live alone in a fairly remote spot, a couple hundred feet back from the road, so late night uninvited guests are a bit alarming. Turned out to be a really nice high school kid who knows my nephew and was dropping off my neighbor's daughter after a date. The embarrassing part was I was sitting on the toilet and the bathroom blinds were open so he had to see me sitting there, as he walked up to the front door. Yikes. That's like one of my worst dreams ever. What can you do? His dad came out and pulled him out and they are on their way home. Just a little winter fun.

I don't close blinds out here, as it's so remote and I never have company. I guess I was wrong. I had two surprise guests today. My BIL came out during the day to bring me some bottle water because I'm snowed in again and my water has been frozen for two weeks. I think those bathroom blinds will be closed for some time before I get my nerve up again.

Morning all!! Popping in a for a minute to say hey and to wish everyone a happy New year and hope you all had a great Chistmas!

My son graduated from LSU last week and since then I've had a house full of family. My daughter came in from L.A. and my Mom and Sister came in from N.C. It's been wonderful. I've been cooking for a solid week and have also been bad food wise. It's back on the wagon today. Don't think I've gained any though. I got up and went to the gym every day except for Christmas day and today. My daughter left on Friday and we have to bring Mom and Sis to airport at 8 this morning. It will just be to quiet around here. Sad to see everyone leave!

Hello

This is my first post in this thread. I decided that I will admit that I am over 50 (57 to be exact) and that presents its own issues with losing my weight. I also realized that I am not going to make my New Year's Goal, almost but not quite.

I stay quite busy as I babysit our granddaughters Tues. through Fri. in the evenings, my 84 yo mil lives with us. I am going to volunteer at the local animal shelter for a few hours per week starting next week. I have been married since I was young, have two sons and six grandchildren (one deceased), six dogs and eight cats, mostly rescue animals.

Am taking my weight loss more seriously this time and finally have less than 100 lbs. to lose. Lost a total of 35 lbs. from my highest weight and will keep working at it.

Gonna spend some time today reading the past posts to get to know some of you. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Hi Eveyone,

Hope you all had a great Christmas. I'm afraid i WAY over did and i'm shoing and feeling it. I just feel "blagh' when i over eat the wrong things now. My body just isn't used to this and rebels. Do we never learn? We got lots of snow here before Christmas 11 inches one day and a couple more the next. I didn't think we would see the ground again until spring. But, we got rain over the weekend and some high wind and it dried everything up. got pretty warm too, in the 50's.

Karen, it's so beautiful there! I could sit and look at that forever! But I know how important being around family is too, so I hope someone else finds it facinating soon, and HAS to move there!

Bobbi, Love your new picture. Looking good, girlfirend!

Sue, WELCOME!! You found a great place for inspiration. come back often. It really does help!

Cat, loved your pictures, as always. Cute son,
and not so bad looking mom!!!

Recidivest, Had a good laugh, thinking about you sitting there looking out the window!! I'm sure the boy was so thrilled at finding some one to help he never gave it another thought! OR.......

Isabella, I got out shopping for awhile too. Not that I need anyting. Like you, i've got enough wrapping paper to last a LONG time. Made the mistake though, to buy a LOT of the candy on sale for 75% off. I always say i'm buying it to take into work. Yeah, right! How we kid ourselves.

Hey, Karen3, where are you?

Freda

Good morning all

I think I ate enough food yesterday for the week, I hate when I binge like that, I did my WW points and it was nothing compared to what I used to do but still.... Back to my healthy guidelines today for sure. I belong to TOPS and we weigh in on Tues. evenings so maybe just tea and water between now and then, ha ha! I am on my own tonight as dh and ds will be at dgs basketball game. Gonna watch a chic flick.

Recidivist, where are you in Oregon?
