This is NOT a Challenge - it is a place for us to record our daily behaviors (behaviours) toward being personally responsible for our EFFORTS. We cannot control our OUTCOMES - weight - however, we can control our EFFORTS - daily actions aimed at losing/maintaining weight.

If you want to give this thread a try, just post 1 message on this thread. Each day during the month, the Age 50+ ladies are invited to add to their original message (using the "edit" button) by updating information about actions they have taken toward meeting their goal of losing/maintaining weight.

There is no single format - feel free to be creative. The winners on this thread are all of us who continue to work toward being accountable for our actions!

Okay . . . although October has not been successful for me, I will not give in . . . soooooo, here is my spot for November.

Same format as previous months. One of these days I'll actually get it right. Soooooo I finished October with an average weight of 211.2 and decided to leave my ticker where it is in the hopes I can make it stop fibbing soon.

Between 1400 and 1500 net calories -- 40 to 50% net carbs and 25-30% each of Fat and protein. No Treats or Triggers.

*Walk 5K/Bike 5K/45 Counter Push-ups/5+ Real Push-ups: Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday
*Circuit training: Monday, Wednesday, Friday (at least 2x)
*Portion size and calorie counting (1200-1400 calories per day)
*No junky snacks
*Eat sufficient food not to be hungry and at least 5 fruits and vegetables a day

I've had two months in a row that weren't good but here I am to try again. Ending weekly weight in Oct was 165.5.

11/1/08 out of town. Ate terrible but did walk about 2 miles a day (10/30-11/1/08)
11/2/08 167 (first weekly weigh-in since home), am BS 141H, approx 1820 calories, 14 diabetic carbs. BAD
11/3/08 168, am BS 151H, 30 min. stretch and 40 min cardio, 1094 calories, 12 diabetic carbs.
11/4/08 167, 40 yoga stretch, 40 min cardio,1137 calories, 11 diabetic carbs.
11/5/08 165.5, 30 min stretch, 40 min cardio, 1249, bs 1 hr before lunch 131 H, diabetic carbs 12.
11/6/08 165.5, 40 min yoga stretch, 40 min cardio, BS before lunch 106, 1196 calories, 14 diabetic carbs (high).
11/7/08 165.5, 40 min cardio, BS 116 2 hrs after breakfast, 1365 calories, 13 diabetic carbs.
11/8/08 165.5, no exercise except shopping, 1378 calories, 10 diabetic carbs.
ETA: After posting, I shared a large cookie with dh so calories probably close to 1500 and diabetic carbs about 11 or 12.
11/9/08 165.5, BS161H, lost track of calories and carbs - overate!, no exercise.
11/10/08 166.5, 30 min stretch, 40 min cardio, 1858 calories, 17 diabetic carbs-not good!
11/11/08 167 (weekly weigh-in) 40 min yoga stretch, 40 min cardio, after breakfast bs 140,1244 calories, 14 diabetic carbs.
11/12/08 166.5, 30 min stretch, 40 min cardio, after breakfast bs 121, 1536 calories, 18 diabetic carbs! Too much!
11/13/08 165.5, 1446 calories, 9 diabetic carbs, no exercise except climbed stairs.
11/14/08 165.5, 1326 calories, 9 diabetic carbs, no exercise except walking in place maybe 5 min, bs 131 after dinner.
11/15/08 164 (weekly weigh-in), 10 min weightlifting,1529 calories (edited), 7 diabetic carbs, bs 141 before dinner.
11/16/08 164, 1897 (oops! ate out), diabetic carbs 13, no exercise.
11/17/08 166, 30 min stretch, 40 min cardio, bs 139 before lunch, 1379 calories, 14 diabetic carbs.
11/18/08 165.5, 1415 calories, 10 diabetic carbs, BS 133 after lunch, no exercise. (Had to edit as I ate more)
11/19/08 165.5, lost track of calories and carbs. edited because I ate more after posting. no exercise.
11/20/08 166 Thanksgiving potluck today. Not really counting calories, but trying to be careful.
11/21/08 167 ended yesterday with way too many calories!, today I'm trying to get back on plan. Whoops...hasn't worked out, another terrible day of eating! My dh has an ear infection, can't hear a thing (always has poor hearing but today it's much worse!), he's kinda cranky, and there is other family stress going on. Wonder if this is why I can't control my eating! I have to get back to handling my stress in a better way...was doing well for a while there. Well anyway after talking to our son I do feel a little better. At lest my bs was good today.
11/22/08 167.5 Weekly weigh-in (not good!!) about 1900 (edited cause ate more!) calories, 12 diabetic carbs, no exercise.
11/23/08 168, bs before lunch 115, calories 1228, diabetic carbs 9, no exercise.
11/24/08 165, 30 min stretch, 40 min cardio, 1497 calories, 18 diabetic carbs (too high!).
11/25/08 166.5 30 min yoga stretch, 40 min cardio. lost track of calories, ate too much! bs 183H 1 1/2 hrs after lunch.
11/26/08 169!YIKES! 24 min stretch, 40 min cardio, thanksgiving potluck tonight. Lost track of calories but I tried to be careful.
11/27/08 167.5, no exercise. did not track calories
11/28/08 168, 1434 calories, 13 diabetic carbs, no exercise other than shopping.
11/29/08 167 Weekly Weigh-In Not happy with this but at least it is not the highest I have been this month. Still once again going by weekly weights I have gained this month. I know my problem is being consistent with both eating and exercise plus right now, the holidays. I admire those of you who are so consistent and continue to lose. I will continue to work on it. Tonight was another bad evening after doing well all day...seemed like I just couldn't stop eating!

This is the best - save a place for me.
Yesterday, I weighed 137 but today 136, so I met my goal for last month (despite last night's indulgences - I must have been more active than I thought)! My goal for this month is another 4 pounds. The accountability thread really makes a difference.
Away 11/1-11/3 but fairly on plan (except that mojito) and plenty of exercise (biking and hiking)
11/4......1136.........45 minutes super brisk walking
11/5.......999.........45 minutes super brisk walking
11/6.......1170.......55 minutes super brisk walking
11/7.......1340........45 minutes super brisk walking
11/8......1460 (oh the wine)...no formal exercise
11/9.......1526.......70 minutes super brisk and 40 minutes mod pace walking
11/10......1247......45 min super brisk walking
11/11......1205......45 minute super brisk walking
11/12......1081......45 minute super brisk walking
but sick....
11/13......1366......no exercise
AWAY and sick but stuck close to plan

I haven't been walking every morning since 11/12, since the 5:30 a.m. cold air and my cold/cough didn't seem to be a good combination and haven't been logging anything for days. Hope to get back on track soon...

I made a decision last night to get serious about my health.
So I'm going to post here every day, good or bad.

My goal is to stay below 1600 calories and watch the bad carbs and fats. Also limiting all grains and adding more veggies.

Nov 13: 193 Made the decision.
Nov 14: 191.5. This doesn't reflect a true weight loss. weigh in yesterday was in the afternoon. Today, I weighed in the morning.
Nov 15: 188.5. Woweezers. I must have really been retaining water. I went over about 300 calories yesterday. I did great all day then ended up eating a snack pie. arrgghh. Will do better today. I've upped my calories from 1500 to 1600. May have to tweak this until I find out what works for me. I also plan to open some canned fruits and have them ready in case I have a sweet attack in the evening.
Nov 16: 188. Another half pound. I know the weight loss will slow down real soon, but i'm enjoying it for now. lol. Only went over 20 calories even with the chili. I pray I can stay motivated.
Nov 17 188. No change. But I did okay yesterday. Not so good today though. I went over on my calories. Like 400 calories over. sigh. But tomorrow is a new day. I'm looking forward and thinking positive.
Nov 18 190.5. NOOOOO! I went over my calories yesterday about 600 over at final count. And high sodium. It was hard to come on here today, but I know I have to or I'll end up doing it again.
Nov 19 190 Put the wrong date yesterday so I've fixed it now. Did pretty well yesterday, but too much sodium. Only took off a half pound of the three I'd put on the day before. sigh.
Nov 23 188.5 Did pretty bad for a couple of days. Gained back up to 191.5. Mostly water weight, but I binged one day. Couldn't bring myself to journal or post or weigh. Back on track. I did okay yesterday. (Breathed a sigh of relief when I got on the scale this morning.)
Nov 24 Forgot to weigh this morning and wasn't about to get on the scale after I'd had several cups of coffee and water, plus breakfast. But I thought I'd better post anyway. I went over nearly 200 calories yesterday and ate some high sodium stuff, so I'd have probably shown a gain.
