Hey!

We got into Hartford in the midafternoon, and were delighted to see that the fall colors are still here as we drove north into Mass.! In fact, in some areas the colors are just now peaking, although in others leaves have already dropped. How nice to see them! Big sugar maples all red orange on the outside but leaves still green toward the trunk, so they look almost fluorescent! Red maples turned completely red--and sumac and firebush--and all the bright yellows as well!

We've dropped in to see our aunt--she is looking old and frail, the dear one. She had an accident a little while ago, and although she wasn't injured, she's having trouble eating. Nothing seems good to her. So her weight is down, and in her case that's not so good. We're going with her today while she a checkup. She's 89. I think the accident was just so upsetting to her that she's lost her appetite.

So it's pleasantly cool here--jacket weather--not unlike my trip to Colorado last month. The leaves were just beginning to turn in Colo. then.

See ya!

Jay

Hi everyone, I know I've been MIA for a few days. Jsut supper busy. My DIl bought a Curves Franchise and we've been helping with that, in addition to babysitting and working. Not getting much done right now at home, but hopefully things will slow down after DIl gets started in her new job. Oh yes, DIL got a new job and is orientating this week too.

Lori, Congratulations to your daughter. When is the wedding? I'm sure you have lots of time to lose weight and shop for that perfect dress.

Hi CD, I watched some of the debate last night too. Tried to watch that and read too. Didn't do much of either. i feel asleep. Not sure if it was that borning or I was just overly tired.

Jay, Sorry to hear about your aunt. The colors there sound breathtaking! I hope to get up north this weekend to catch the last of ours. We have lots of trees in our little area and the colors are wonderful too.

Did not have a good eating day yesterday. Didn't have time to eat all day, and when I did try my stomach rejected it. I don't get like taht often. And when I got home last night DH, with the best intentions, had bought pizza for dinner. Of course I ate it!!! I was starving and as soon as i showered and relaxed a bit I started eating. I think I ended up with 3 pieces. Maybe not the worst after not eating all day, but too much of the wrong thing.

Hope eveyone has a good day, Freda

Jay - sounds beautiful there! What a blessing you were able to see your aunt - 89 is remarkable! Hopefully, you can get her eating while you are there.

Freda - WOW - we don't see a post from you like that very often. I don't think 3 pieces of pizza will set you back at all, but the sodium content might affect the scale for a few days - it does for me.

I had an unexpeced turn of events today. I've been working late every night trying to get everything done before our trip to see the kids. It probably compromised my system, because I came home this morning with violent chills and a stomach virus

So, I'm trying to be a picture-perfect patient so that I can still fly out on Sat. I'm very thankful we have a late flight!

Hope you all had a good day! Gotta go refill my water glass

Laurie, Sorry to hear that you got the flu bug. Hopefully it doesn't last long and you'll be able to make your flight out. Hopefully, it's only a 24 hour thing.

Jay sorrry about your aunt. Your trip sounds wonderful. I love fall. I actually love all the seasons, but summer is my favorite. I's like to be able to do some travelling like the rest of you are.

Freda how wonderful that they have a Curves franchise. What a great investment, so many people need a place to exercise. Where is it located? I hope the Michigan business taxes won't hurt them too much. I have some friends with small businesses that are struggling here in Michigan. Good Luck!

Thanks for your congratulations. The wedding is June 27, 2009, so I have time to lose weight but I really need to get serious.

Hi to everyone else. Lori

Hi . . .

Woke up yesterday with a nasty pinched-nerve kind of back ache and spent most of the day flat out in bed. It's still with me, but a little less so this morning, so I thought I'd try sitting and typing for a little while anyway.

It's another cold and rainy day around here and that is not helping with the back ache either and I won't be doing too much of anything today.

Have a good one everybody . . . think this little guy is about all the moving and shaking that will be seen around my house today . . . . . . well, other than the cats; they never sit still for too long (when they are awake).

Hey everyone! Beautiful leaf viewing today again... A lovely time. We ate at one of our favorite diners, The Bluebonnet Diner. They had salmon, and I chose some butternut squash and pickled beets as sides.

We bought our aunt some South Beach Living high-protein snack bars. They aren't overwhelming for her, and she likes the way they taste--and they do have a good amount of protein for what they are. She could have one as a snack when she's not feeling really hungry.

The motel has an indoor swimming pool, and I hope I get a chance to use it... Haven't gotten in any exercise.

Flowingair! How exciting about your daughter's engagement!

The slim me, a Curves franchise--yeah, that's a lot of work, but it's such a well thought out program, I think. The machines didn't work for me after awhile, but it was an easy way to get in exercise.

hijude, I hope you're feeling better from your dental surgery...

CD, I hope your ummm problem has cleared up and you make your flight just fine!

meowee, I guess autumn colors have gone by up there by now. Sorry about your back trouble--ice pack?

See y'all later!

Jay

P.S. Spinymouse--if you're out there--I can't remember where you live, so please remind me. Tell us what you like about living there!

Cold and sunny today . . . and the Autumn colours are just at their peak right now. Mostly because the wind has not been too terrible and so the leaves are still hanging on the trees. Won't be long though -- we usually get at least one snowfall before Halloween, although there is none in the long term forecast so far.

Back is coming along . . . I still know it's there, but it's getting more tolerable. Really need to go out -- not only is it Municipal Election Day, I also need a few things. However, I'm debating the wisdom of that.

Hope everybody else has a great Saturday on the go . . . see you later.

Good morning all, Hi to all the vacationers. Is that a word? Anyway, I hope you're having fun and the weather is being agreeable.

Linda, Hope the back continues to improve. Hard to enjoy anything when you're in pain.

Jay, Where do you find restaurants that serve such healthy food? None of the ones around here do. Sounds great. I love beets. Make an effort to get in some exercise, enjoy that pool.

Make it a good day, Freda

Hi Pals,
Oh, I have missed so much!! Sorry! It does not work well to speed read through all these posts; that will teach me! Laurie, I am sorry to hear about your father in law; Jay, I like rodents! I had pet rats and also once, yes, a spinymouse. But I understand. And since you asked I live in beautiful Morro Bay. What do I like about it: all the advantages to a small town - lack of traffic and parking problems, leisurely overall feel. None of the disadvantages sometimes stereotypically attributed to a small town, in my opinion - I think we have good offerings of healthful food and dining, a good diversity of opinions of people, lots of tolerance. And it is just beautiful, on the coast. The things that big cities offer that we lack don't appeal to me anyway (operas and plays and big team sports and art museums) so I'm very cool with it here.
And the weather is always just fine; never gets (ok; rarely gets) hot or cold.
I have been missing in action lately, and apologize for that. Here I am on a site for people who are supposed to be losing weight or maintaining healthy weight and I have been doing NEITHER. So sometimes I feel a bit inappropriate for showing up. Pardon the baggy clothes, please.

Hey Spinymouse!

I like rodents, too--and I felt horrible to have to have them killed, but they would not leave and I couldn't sleep.

Morro Bay! Nice! Turns out that's the home of Jack LaLanne--excuse spelling. I used to watch him all the time when I was younger. It sounds like a nice place, Jo. I had thought you might be Big Sur or maybe north coast.

I like your mouse smilie!

Folks, I've burned out on visiting and traveling, but I'm not done yet. I just wanna get back to my routine. I think I finally overdid the vacationing this year.

Yesterday, though, we went to a butterfly house up toward Greenfield, and it was wonderful to see all the butterflies. You go into the enclosure and walk around with them. Many blue morphos, glasswings, owl butterflies, just too many to remember all their names. We spent a long time in there... and I also saw a hummingbird in with them, feeding on the stations.

See ya! Have a good Sunday!

Jay
