Good Morning, gang . . .
Hope that's "light" beer everybody is drinking at their fitness centres.

Spinymouse, were you serious? 'Cause I can't imagine a fitness center serving beer...

Yes, I am serious. They serve beer, wine, and the regular assortment of fancy waters and juices, etc. Also salads, light sandwiches and "breakfast foods" in the morning.

Gosh, ya learn something new every day! I don't drink, but even when I did, it wouldn't have occurred to me that a fitness center would have alcohol... oh well.

They also had, a copule weeks ago, member appreciation week, with wine tasting, some dude playing jazz piano in the lounge (where the fireplace and leather furniture and big screen TV are) and bagpipers outside and lots of appetizers the composition of which may also make you not think of a fitness center. Hey, if I'm going to join a health club it better be a fun one!

exercise for Monday
Okay, so now that I am drooling over all those snacks as the fatness club I'm wondering how you all did on exercise for today.
I did manage 25 minutes of tai chi before I gave up. I think I need to watch the video while not trying to do the movements at the same time. Does anyone else do that with workout videos? When I am trying to watch and do at the same time I can't keep up.

DH does exactly that. He the writes a "cheat sheet" with the order of the moves. He keeps checking the computer (his dvd player) when he gets stuck.
I did Sizzlin' Salsa (Dance Away the Inches) this evening. I skipped weightlifting this morning I woke up at 2:30 a.m. roasting and couldn't get back to sleep until about 4:30, so I was too pooped to do much except get ready for work. I really thought that I was finished with the hot flashes, but it seems that they are gonna hang around for a bit longer - GRRRR!
Still trying to get rid of Thanksgiving leftovers. When you are counting calories, they disappear ever so slowly!
Spiny - I think your fitness center sounds grand! If we had one like that around here, I would seriously consider joining.

Hi everybody - I went to my first Pilates class today. It was such a challenge, and I was conspicuously not keeping up. But, I think that if it is possible to get better at it with practice, that I would like it. It moves slowly, and I can keep track of what is going on; only my muscles and my balance are the limiting factors, so Pilates holds promise.
I can't do any videos at home because of no TV, no video player, and no space to move around. Sounds nice though, (so as to skip the embarrassment factor) but hey, who needs pride, right?
HA - Mermom - the "fatness center." hehehehehe

Counting -
I have leftovers to kill also, but I have discovered a new gizmo, the Reynolds handi-vac vacuum sealer and its corresponding bags. So I am going to freeze a bunch of stuff. Have you all seen this? You get it at the normal grocery store in the section with all the other plastic bags. It works better than the expensive vacuum sealer I bought a couple of years ago.
p.s. yeah, this gym is very very nice. You'd love it. They even supply shampoo, hair spray, cotton swabs, deodorant, hair dryers... it's really cool.

Love it JO! Way to "challenege" yourself! I've heard of roughing it but that gym just sounds...well...almost barbaric.

HA! Well, since it is nicer than where I live, where my good friend lives, my workplace, any of the bars, any other public place I can think of.... hmmm, might as well go to the gym then!! This way of thinking just may work!

Good Morning . . .
It's very rainy and windy and mild in northern Nova Scotia this morning. Might just be the day I finally give in to the 'baking bug'.
Later gang . . .

Hmmm... I think I'm not feeling well today. But I'm not sure... That's a pretty odd place to be in!
I think it would be a bad idea to go to the fitness center, though.
Spinymouse, let us know what you think of Pilates as you do it more! I have a friend who loves it.

Spiny - I haven't tried the handi-vac vacuum. In fact, I didn't even know it existed. I lead a sheltered life! Since we try to recycle and reuse everything we can, I don't get down the plastic wrap aisle in the grocery store very often. And I don't watch tv, so I don't see commercials. How was pilates class? I have a pilates video that is tough. It has a couple moves I can NOT do. And I don't even want to talk about the pushups with the stretchie band holding me down
Jay, I hope you are feeling better soon!
Linda, I admire anyone that can bake and stay OP. If I baked, oh, it would be very, very ugly!
