Over 50 & Getting Lighter - July/August '07

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

:welcome2: to our new place for the next couple of months . . . hope we'll all be seeing lots less of each other, lots more often ;) over the next couple of months.

My morning is off to a really strange start . . . both my blood sugar and my weight are sitting at 227. The blood sugar number is a bad thing :(. Guess I had a hypo not long before I woke up and my Liver took over and gave me a shot of glucose. The scale number . . . well that's the story of my life . . . it will probably keep saying nice numbers until my 'official weigh-in' on Wednesday when it will shoot back up to 229.8 again. Oh well, nice to know there is a lower number out there waiting for me somewhere. :)

Have a great day moving and shaking things today, gang . . . see you later. :carrot:

meowee 07-02-2007 08:03 AM

My Goodness . . . where is everybody hiding?

My son and his family (from Alberta) are arriving today to spend a couple of days -- I hardly get to see them, they live so far away -- My DIL is very, very allergic to cats. She has stayed here in the past (when there were 3 cats) and it is not a pretty sight. Now that there are 6 of them, she doesn't dare try sleeping in this house. Actually going to work out quite well. The granddaughters (age 4 and 13) will stay here so I get a nice visit with them. The parents will stay at a local Motel so they will actually get a little time alone for a change. My poor cats will go nuts . . . they are definitely not used to humans that are able to move almost as fast as they can. should be a fun couple of days. Will probably be a few tears from Angelia (the youngest) because of kitten scratches (unavoidable). Becky is old enough to realize it's going to happen. Jazz is her favourite anyway, so he'll get lots of cuddling time.

So . . . I don't know how much computer time I'll get for the next couple of days . . . but I will be thinking about you, gang, and will stop in whenever I get a chance. Keep things moving and shaking and I'll see you really soon . . . :carrot:

Good morning everyone.

Not much new here but I thought I'd drop in to say 'hi'. Hope you're all having a great weekend.

Meowee - What a great time to look forward to. I hope there are not too many scratches.;)

Talk later,

Donna72664 07-02-2007 10:23 AM

:coffee:Good morning everyone. Just poured me a cup of lemon tea and thought I had better get in here quick. This will be the only day I have on the computer this week. We have gremlins, can't get our computers here in our office to talk to the main office or each other;so they are scheduled into the computer hospital for the rest of the week.:fr: What am I going to do in my spare time here? Guess I'd better find a good book to bring in. Probably won't work on Thursday, that's my 2 hour day, since we won't see patients on Wednesday. Had a so-so weekend. Friday got the vehicle back from the garage, had to get the air conditioner charged up. Took off to go fishing and the suv overheated. Let it cool down added water and still it was too hot. Finally got back to town and took it back to the garage and left it. Talked to them this morning and they don't know what happened so it will probably cost me a bunch more. I told DH that we shouldn't have to pay anything but he is so mild mannered. Then Saturday morning I started to clean my house and my vacuum died !!! Now come on it is only 17 years old :dizzy: what's the problem? Needless to say I had to go buy a new one.ARRR
Didn't get the kind I really wanted, they don't sell them here in this small town, but at least I have one. My weigh in was good though, I lost 2.5 lbs
this week. I just keep messing around with the same 3 lbs lose them-gain them. Hopefully with my July plans I can boot them down and out of here.

Meowee: 45 hous is a long time to be without electricity. We can make due but it is tough. Just amazing how everything we do depends on electricity.
Your blood sugar sure did take a jump, hope it is better now. and good luck on your weigh in this week. Having your family there will be fun especially having the GD all by yourself.

Settie: Hope you have a great week also.

Cheryl: Undoubtably you are working way too hard. Do you have plans for the 4th?

We are waiting to hear from our youngest daughter as to if they are coming or not. I talked to her yesterday and they are going to try to cut wheat
tomorrow. Sure hope it's not quite ready, that is selfish isn't it. Otherwise we will sit on our deck and watch the fireworks display they have up at our little lake. It is just 3 blocks north of us and up hill so we get a good view of the ariel display, can't see the ground ones but there are plenty in our neighborhood to see.

Look forward to catching up on everyone next week! Have a great one.

Cheryl thanks for posting about the airless roller you used - I've been checking websites online now to learn more. That system sounds perfect -the sprayer and the roller attachment for my kitchen cabinet project.

Will have to wait now until fall or winter when it is cooler here and I can have the windows open for ventilation. But that gives me time to research what brand of airless sprayer willl work best for our project, the exact color I want to use, etc.

It sounds like things are really falling into place with your move! I lived in Tillamook for a short time and I thought OR was lovely:)

hyacinth merry 07-03-2007 08:06 PM

Wishing anyone that celebrates it, a Happy 4th of July :)

We are baking here in PHX so limiting outdoor activities for the 4th, other than being in the pool.

Hope everyone has a good week!

Good morning everyone. I just stopped by to say hello while I'm having my coffee.

Hope all of you are doing okay. I guess it's a bit quieter because it's summer.

Talk soon,

meowee 07-04-2007 11:46 AM

Happy Independence Day to all the Yanks . . . and a great big Good Morning :grouphug: for everyone.

I'm back . . . the relatives have headed on to the next group in New Brunswick (DIL's side of the family is huge). So . . . . all six cats and their human serving wench (me) are planning to veg-out for the rest of today . . . we are all exhausted. But it was a great visit. However, I ate way, way, way too much . . . suffice it to say, I'm back up to 229.4 (so much for the 227), but at least that is 0.4 down from last week, so I will change my ticker at long last. Must be that all the extra walking and walking doing multi-touristy type things along both the boardwalk and the beach saved me a little. :D We had what I would call perfect weather for the past couple of days -- warm but not unbearably hot; no excess humidity; and a lovely gentle breeze. More of the same today but tomorrow we are getting rain again.

Anyway, gang . . . got to get things moving and shaking around a few other 3FC places as well as here . . . have a great day and I'll see you later. . . :carrot:

Cheryl120 07-04-2007 12:01 PM

Good Morning and Happy 4th of july!!! Thought I would pop in and see how everyone is doing.

Linda...Sounds like you are busy spoiling your grandkids. What a nice way to spend the weekend. I sure your kitties will have fun being chased around the house and cuddled.

Donna...Did your daughter make it to your place, or are they cutting wheat?
Hope your suv didn't cost you more money. It seems things happen in three's when they want to break down.

Hy...We bought our sprayer at Lowe's for around $69.00. I enjoy painting now, but still have to do touch up with a brush near the ceiling. Tillimook is a beautiful little town. I can't wait to move back to Oregon. I miss my mountains and the ocean.

Denise...Hope you are having a nice weekend. I noticed that you live in Winnipeg, which is about five hours from me. I live 75 miles west of Fargo.

Well ladies, time for me to get back to packing. When my hubby get's home from work, we are going to finish painting the computer room and then start on the upstairs bathroom. Friday we are going to pressure wash the house and outbuildings, so we can start painting the house on Saturday. I hope the weather cooperates. Not too hot and no wind.

Have a great day!

Cheryl~

meowee I forgot to thank you for starting this new thread: Thanks! :D

hyacinth merry 07-05-2007 10:27 AM

I've got my July goals all figured out and in place so that is an accomplishment in and of itself. :D

It's hot here, as everyone knows, so no outdoors as far as any physical activity, but I have plenty to do indoors with our on-going remodel projects. I can swim, but have to wait until evening, which is a bit of a problem since active exercise at night keeps me awake until the wee hours.

My 4th was great and I did everything in moderation, including the picnic-type foods we had.

meowee 07-05-2007 04:22 PM

Hi gang . . . :grouphug:

I've been having another busy day. Way to little computer time for me. :( Would you believe . . . a bunch of relatives from Ontario just "popped" in unannounced early this afternoon. Love to see them but, wow, a little warning would have been nice. This is what happens when you live in a touristy-type of harbour town. At least nobody is staying with me tonight. So they are gone for the evening (I begged off dinner by promising to share lunch tomorrow).

Food-wise, things have been pretty good today -- well a lot better, anyway.:o We'll just have to try out best for tomorrow. I'd better get a move on again. I have a few more places to visit around 3FC before I can feed the feline menagerie and myself.

Have a great moving and shaking kind of day, everybody . . . see you soon. :carrot:

settie 07-05-2007 10:12 PM

Hi everyone!

Meowee - Wow! You've been busy. I hope you get some 'Me' time fairly soon.

Hy - Good for you in getting your 'July' all thought out. :carrot: I'm more a day to day person. I guess I can't think that far ahead. :dizzy:

Cheryl - Too bad you're moving - we could meet in the middle for coffee.

Hi Donna :flow1:

Talk soon, ;)

meowee 07-06-2007 01:24 PM

Hi Girls . . . :grouphug:

Got home form the lunch outing fairly eary by complaining about not feeling too well -- unfortuntely it happens to be true -- I was up at 2:30 am because I had one of those lovely hypoglycemic events that we diabetics are known for -- so beween having what amounts to 2 breakfasts (2:30 and 9:30) and a not so low-calorie lunch -- this is not shaping up to be a wonderfully controlled eating day. Hopefully things will get better and my life will get back into the groove soon.

Hope you all have a great moving and shaking kind of day, gang . . . see you soon. :carrot:

settie 07-06-2007 08:48 PM

Meowee - I'm sorry to hear about your sugars being out of control. My ex (who I was married to for 20 years) was type 1. He had many of those episodes. I know he never felt very well for quite a while after.

Take care of yourself. Have you been too busy?!

meowee 07-07-2007 12:11 PM

Hi gang . . . :grouphug:

Had a terribly restless night last night . . . got to stop having afternoon coffee. :^: Anyway, I did pretty well in the food department yesterday evening . . . ate tons and tons (well almost a pound) of lightly seared Scallops with a light salad and some fresh fruit for dessert . . . but I did manage to stay away from all the heavy side dishes and the homemade desserts and the ice cream . . . YAY ME!

Another day of Lobster Carnival (it's an annual event in my little town) fun and games today . . . hopefully I'll be able to continue the good stuff :crossed:

Other than that . . . SOSDD . . . Hope everybody has great moving and shaking things planned . . . see you soon . . . :carrot:

Yummy! Lobster is such a treat. We don't get it too often here in the prairies. Hmmm....I guess that's not too suprizing.

Not too much happening here. Having dinner with my family tonight. My sister is barbequing chicken breast and I'm bringing a salad so I hope I can stay on board even though I know my Mom is bringing dessert. She's one of those who comment on your weight and yet push food on you!?!? I guess because she's always been slim she just doesn't get it. I still love her.;)

meowee 07-08-2007 11:06 AM

Hi gang . . . :grouphug:

Afraid that is definitely true SETTIE . . . "fresh" and "seafood" are mutually exclusive terms in the Prairies . . . actually anywhere without Ocean Coast. :( Sorry.

Actually . . . We had another nasty little thunderstorm late yesterday afternoon. Only minor light-flickering but it did manage to rain out the children's Lobster Carnival parade. :( I stayed home and had salmon and salad for dinner instead of going out for lobster so, naturally the sun came out again about 8:30 pm. This morning is looking pretty good. Hope it lasts for the wind-up of the local festivities. :^:

Boy . . . I really think I'm going to have to change my official weigh-in day to Sunday. Nice 226.6 this morning. Wonder where it will be by Wednesday. I'd almost be willing to bet money it will be higher . . . again.

Have a great moving and shaking kind of day, everybody. See you soon . . . :carrot:

Isn't it odd how that works. I too often have a nice 'dip' during the week only to go up on weigh in day.

Too bad about your parade. The kids must have been disappointed. We're having a beautiful weekend and it's our big Folk Festival which more than not seems to get rained out.

Just working around the yard today. Not much new.

Talk soon,

meowee 07-09-2007 09:48 AM

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

Another dull and cool day shaping up here in Atlantic Canada . . . the Lobster Carnival has been put to bed for another year and, as usual, the weather was less than kind. :( Hope the rest of you managed to hang onto good weather for the weekend. :)

Just posted a little blurb in the "Hints" Sticky about the age old "Butter vs Margarine" debate. Which one do you use? For me -- the answer is, more or less, neither -- I like my veggies unadulterated and I seldom eat any bread (sometimes a Tortilla wrap). Actually, I have a small container of reduced fat margarine in the fridge that has been there for over a year now. Glad I thought of it . . . think it is probably time to pitch it. :o

Well gang . . . lots of stuff to do and places to go around 3FC and then out for some groceries. Hope everybody has a really great day. See you later. :carrot:

settie 07-09-2007 10:58 AM

Good morning all,

I'm having a One-derful day! 199 this morning. It's been a looooong time since I've seen that number.

I use low-fat margarine when I use anything. Like meowee I hardly do. I mostly go 'au natural' or I use olive oil. The one exception is Christmas baking. I have to use butter in those goodies.

We're having a very nice few days - sunny, not too hot. Just like I like it.

Well I must go do my workout and then see what the rest of the day brings. Probably a bit of yard work. Like house cleaning and dust, the weeds never seem to stay away. Although I much more enjoy yard work to house work.

Have a great day everyone. Talk soon,

meowee I don't use much of either, pretty much as you said...I don't eat bread and most veggies I like just they way they are. I do use salt however to season.

My doc did recommend to **me** that I just use butter, but sparingly. I've also used a product sold here in the US called Smart Balance (maybe they sell in CAN too?) I thought it was good.

YAY DENISE . . . YAY DENISE . . . YAY DENISE :high:

And I agree . . . you cannot make Shortbread without BUTTER. :D

HI HY . . . :high:

Think I've seen Smart Balance in the stores . . . not sure since spreads are not high on my shopping lists.

Donna72664 07-09-2007 11:15 AM

:running: I finally got my computer back and have had a chance to get caught up on all of your posts. Of course when I wanted to post, my information had been kicked out because of the computer tech's cleaning up some of my files. Suppose I will find all kinds of glitches as I travel around to my favorite sites. Oh well, at least I feel like I'm back in the groove again.
I'm:tantrum:at my scale. I tried to be sooo good this week with the holiday and all. I managed to walk 5.5 miles this week and it said I had gained 3 lbs. I was just blown away and depressed all weekend. Guess there were some hidden calories that I forgot to account for somewhere. I'm really going to have to work hard this week to make any headway at all now.I walked a little over a mile yesterday morning before it got so hot and humid. We got almost 2" of rain overnight so I probably won't walk outside today even tho it is going to be a little cooler. Had a patient using the gym this morning as soon as I got to work so I haven't had time to get in there myself. I will before noon tho I promise.

CHERYL: Did you get your painting done over the weekend? What a big job that sounds like. It is so much work to get ready to move. Yes my daughter made it here for the 4th. We went up to the rodeo grounds and watched my grandson compete in mutton busting. He did pretty well. They don't have a winner, each contestant gets a dollar. He thought he was pretty hot stuff out there, it was really fun to watch. He's done it before where they live but never here.

MEOWEE: Sure hope you are feeling better and that you have your blood sugars back where they need to be. Does the stress of unexpected company have anything to do with it? Butter or Margarine ? When I use it I use a product called Promise and have for years.

HY: I hope you are finding ways to keep cool !@!! I can't believe your temps there. I think it is unbearable at 90 here.

SETTIE: I agree about the mid week dips in weight. That is why I was so surprised at mine. On Thursday it said 143.2 and on Sunday 147 ? I just keep telling myself it is just a number, but one I don't like.LOL While I was previewing my post I see you got in ahead of me and I'm so glad so I can say:congrat:on your loss, that is fabulous to be in onderland.

Guess I had better get busy the dryer just went off and I will have another load done to go in.
Hope everyone has a great day and something good happens to you.

Don't ask for an easier life:ask to be a stronger person

Sorry for the 'fly-by' . . . back later . . . :carrot:

settie 07-10-2007 12:54 PM

Good Morning(almost afternoon) all,

I don't know where the day goes. :?:

Donna - Isn't it amazing when your computer is gone for a while. I don't know how we ever got along without one!?!?

Not much new here. Hope everyone is having a great day. ;)

Talk soon,

Cheryl120 07-10-2007 02:21 PM

Hi Ladies...I tried posting twice lastnight, but lost it. By then, I was so tired and frustrated, I just gave up and went to bed.

Donna...Never got the painting started on the outside of the house or out buildings, but did get the garage scraped and most of the house pressured washed and scraped. We plan on painting all of the outside buildings next Tuesday thru Thursday if the weather holds out. Saturday, it was 103 here, too hot to do anything but stay inside.

Denise...:bravo::woohoo::congrat: on reaching onederland!! I'm so happy and excited for you.

Linda...Lobster fest sounds so yummy and so does having salmon. Love them both way too much!! Hope you have your blood sugars under control. My hubby is having a real hard time trying to keep his under control. The meds are just not working, and the doctor wants to start him on insulin and he doesn't want that. I told him that maybe he should start insulin for health reasons.

Hy...Hope you are finding some place to stay cool, like in front of your air conditioner with your feet proped up sipping a nice cool drink. :beach:

Well girl's with all of this packing and going back and forth to the storage unit, I've been doing great staying on program. Tomorrow is weigh-in day so will let you know if there is a loss for the week. I'll try to check back in later.

Cheryl

meowee 07-10-2007 04:38 PM

Hi gang . . . I'm back . . . :grouphug:

I'm having a really strange day . . . a bit 'out of sorts' . . . probably a knee-jerk-reaction to my life suddenly calming down again. My weight creeping back up as we approach WWI (Wednesday Weigh In) isn't helping either. But, not to worry, nothing keeps me down for long so I'm sure I'll be back to normal (or whatever passes for 'normal') soon.

Oh DONNA . . . sorry about your gain, too. Don't we all just hate that old scale-? Oh well, hang in there . . . nowhere to go but down, I hope. :^:

Hi DENISE . . .

Thanks CHERYL . . . my BGL is still a bit erratic but it'll get there. I think I know how your DH feels, I remember being extremely upset when I had to start using insulin . . . you kind of feel like you've failed or something. If only I had been just a little better and tried just a little harder with the diet and exercise, it wouldn't have come to this. Well give him a little pep-talk from me . . . this is a progressive disease and unfortunately most of us will get to the insulin stage . . . but once you get over the initial shock of it all, it really does make control easier . . . it's still a constant battle, but it is a little easier. And . . . the insulin needles don't hurt as much as the testing lancets in the fingers. ;) . . . for you both.

Anyway gang, I posted a new article from D:Life in the "Hints" Sticky about that lovely Stress/Weight connection we all know and love (hate) so much. Interesting reading if you've got a couple of minutes.

Must get going again. Hope you all have a great evening planned. See you tomorrow . . . :carrot:

meowee 07-11-2007 07:27 AM

Remember the Tortoise . . . Remember the Tortoise . . . Remember the Tortoise . . . Hardly a day goes by that I don't say that to someone around 3FC.

Guess I just have to keep telling myself the same thing . . . especially every Wednesday as I watch my weight on my "official" day of the week sit about 2 pounds higher than it was the Sunday before . . . but, at least it is a magnificent 0.2 lower than it was last Wednesday. Oh well . . . the general direction is encouraging and the things I've learned and the good habits I've formed in the past year and a half are also encouraging. :D

Oh yeah . . . Good Morning everybody . . . . . . Looks like we are going to have a hot and humid day for a change . . . but also very overcast. :(

Keep things moving and shaking, gang . . . See you later . . . :carrot:

Cheryl120 07-11-2007 08:18 PM

Evening Ladies...Another day of packing, I'm beginning to think there is no end to ir, but my hubby says we are making progress. :D Should be able to start painting inside the house in the next couple of days, then I might relax a little.
Today was weight watchers and I was down 1.8 pounds, needless to say I'm happy. :carrot::carrot:

Linda...My hubby went in for his 3 month checkup and the doctor started him on a insulin inhaler. I'm trying to talk him into taking the shots. The inhaler I know will be very expense since it is new, and I'm sure doing the shots is alot cheaper. Hope you are having a great day,and it is not too hot for you.

settie 07-11-2007 10:14 PM

Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a good day. We had one of those thunder shower/sunshine/thunsershower/sunshine.... kind of days. I opened and closed the windows too many times.

Cheryl - Wow 1.8 loss while you're in the middle of packing. Good work. :cheer:

Meowee - -0.2 doesn't seem like much but +0.2 would seem worse. Keep at it. One day the hare will win.;)

Time to go read a bit before bed. Talk again tomorrow.

meowee 07-12-2007 09:28 AM

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

Wow . . . what a difference a day makes . . . Naturally, now that it isn't 'official' anymore, the scale is back to 226.6. This does get frustrating. Oh well . . . nobody ever promised us "easy".

Hi Settie . . . glad you got a chance to visit the new "Sticky". Hope the rest of you get there soon, too.

Hi Cheryl . . . the inhaler will be great IF (1) it works well (2) it is going to be covered by your insurance (3) if your DH is particularly 'needle-phobic'. However, IMHO, I don't think it has been around long enough to have a really proven track record, but maybe I'm just being overly cautious. Congratulations on another nice weight-loss. I'm so jealous, I'm turning green :p

I found the full list of trivia that went with the word D I E T --

D I E T is a four-letter word . . . that really means . . .

Disallowing Imperfection Equals Trouble
Dangerously Inadvisable Eating Tactics
Deprivation Inevitable Everything Taboo
Don’t Imagine Eating Treats
Definitely Inviting Eternal Torment
Deceptive Industry Eating Trap
Desperately Impossible Eating Targets
Doomed Investment Every Time
Determined Initial Enthusiasm Temporary
Done In Every Time
Deny Ingesting Everything Tasty
Did I Eat Today

Anyway, better get about my 3FC rounds; I'm definitely running late this morning . . . Hope you all have a great day planned . . . See you soon . . . :carrot:

Donna72664 07-12-2007 03:26 PM

Hi there chickies, I hope all are having a great day.

CHERYL: Congrats on your 1.8 lb loss :hug:that is super duper. All that packing and cleaning is accomplishing some great rewards. Sure hope your hubby will get along better with his insulin inhaler. Happy Painting, keep cool

LINDA: :cheer2:I know how you feel about that scale 0.2 seems almost silly but hey I found a quote just for that "If you add a little to a little, and then do it again, soon that little shall be much" Hesiod. Well I'm counting on that ! I haven't made it over to the new "sticky" yet but I always enjoy them even tho I'm not diabetic, that info is good for anyone watching their weight. Thanks for the trivia about D-I-E-T had to laugh at some of them, so true.

:rain: Hi DENISE: Sure hope your weather has straightened up somewhat. They just issued severe thunderstorm watches for our area until 8 this evening hope it holds off I want to go for a walk after work.

Had to go get my drivers license this morning, didn't want to wait too long and forget before my birthday passes, not until August, but knowing me I'd forget then I'd have to take the written test and drive, YIKES don't want that.

Have a good weekend girls, I probably won't be back until Monday.

Donna

meowee 07-13-2007 07:47 AM

Good Morning everybody . . .

Another humid day shaping up for Atlantic Canada. Kind of glad it's also Friday the 13th . . . Gives me an excuse to hibernate inside where it's not so sticky. OMG, I hate the humidity, even when it isn't terribly hot, it just seems so totally enervating. My BGL definitely does not like it either. Yuckie. Maybe I'll knit or crochet a new pair of slippers. Mine all seem to be suddenly too big. at least my feet are losing weight. :D

Donna . . . . . . Thanks for the encouraging quote.

Here's a little FFFF for today . . . maybe it will help us all feel cooler just thinking about it???????? At least it fits in with the slipper idea. :lol3:

In the early 1900's, people were advised to sprinkle a little cayenne pepper in their socks to help keep their feet toasty warm during cold weather.

Hope everybody has a great day . . . Keep doing the good stuff, gang and I'll see you all later . . . :carrot:

I'll be MIA for a while longer as my mom is in the hospital. Staying on course with my program and times like these are ones that help you learn that you CAN do it!

Hugs

Hi Everyone,

I've been too busy to post the last couple of days so I hope everyone is doing fine and the scales are moving in the right direction.

My dad had been suffering from back pain for a few days and then it seemed to get better. Yesterday it came back with a vengance so I took him to emergency. We got there at 2:30pm waited in the waiting room (with him sitting up in a wheelchair) until 8:30pm when he finally got a bed. My sister came to 'relieve' me at 11:00pm - still no doctor!! She said the doctor came into see him at about 1:00am. Can you imagine. He's 86 years old.

This morning he had a physiotherepist look at him. She thinks it's tense muscle and maybe some nerve pain (doesn't surprise me after waiting 6 hours in a wheelchair). Anyway they now think he's bad enough to keep in for a couple of days until it settles down. AAhhhh...... Sorry for the venting but I needed it.

Other than that I've been doing okay except for a mini-binge when I got home this morning.

Hy - I hope things work out with your Mom.

Hi Donna

Hi Meowee

Talk soon,

Cheryl120 07-13-2007 07:16 PM

Evening Ladies...It's been one of those days when I had half a million things I needed to get done and never got to it. Woke up to no power, and that lasted for 4 1/2 hours, so I couldn't vacuume out the window sills or the upstairs. I had to be in town for a meeting at 2:30 and never got home till 4:30.
Going out pretty soon to help hubby scrape buildings, hope the biting flies leave me alone!!!! Good news...the scales were down 4 lbs this morning!!:carrot::woohoo::dance::dancer:

Marsha...We will support each other while doing Weight Watchers. It really is a great program and I've done the best at loosing weight with this program than any others I had followed.

Denise...Hope your Dad is doing better. I hate big city hospital for the fact you have to wait so long to be seen. It's almost worth calling 911 and let the rescue unit take you in. You have every right to vent! 5 hours for your 86 year old Dad to sit is outrageous!!!

Hy...Hope your Mother is doing better also.

Linda...It is hot and miserable here. We are suppose to be back to the 90's by Sunday. Like you, I don't do well with the heat and humidity!! I just wilt!!
Maybe I will start painting my kitchen cabinets and let hubby deal with the outside.:D

Donna...I think I should of thought about moving a year ago. I can't believe the weight I'm dropping with all of the packing, cleaning, and painting I'm doing. As you can imagin, I was doing the happy dance this morning. It has taken me a year to get back to this weight. I am not going to yo-yo back!!

Well gang, I better go out and help my hubby, so we can start painting the house sometime this weekend. Hug's to you all.:hug::hug:

Good Morning . . . Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

Well . . . I'm certainly glad that Friday the 13th has passed into history again . . . definitely not one of my better days yesterday. Today is already feeling better because the humidity has dropped back down to more tolerable levels.

My BGL has also dropped to a more tolerable level . . . wonder if it was because of the 700 extra calories of Aero Dark that I inhaled yesterday afternoon? Better not be, because my waistline certainly cannot handle that too often. Tasted pretty wonderful though . . . and that brings us to . . .

. . . a little semi-related FFFF for today . . .

Between the ages of 30 and 80, we lose 64% of our tastebuds, but our sense of taste still manages to outlast the accuity of all our other senses over our lifetime. Our taste buds are so finely tuned they can detect sweetness at 1 part in 200 and sourness at 1 part in 130,000. The sensitivity to sour probably developed as a protective measure since poisonous foods are more often bitter or sour than sweet

Congratulations CHERYL . . . All the work you are putting in is really paying off for you right now, girl . . . Wowee that's great. :high:

Good :goodvibes going out for the rest of you. Hope you all have a great day. See you again really soon . . . :carrot:
