Ella They say it is better to start off slow on the machines and build. I need to get off my backside and get back on mine. You are giving me incentive.
Bobbie thanks for the soup recipe I will make it. I have some red cabbage can you use that or no?
Karen So glad the customers are encouraging. Makes you feel validated!
Flutterby So happy to meet you! Welcome
Mickey So sorry about your loss of a son. Do you want to talk about it?

Lady in weighting Big
Theresa YOU PUt TWO Machines together! My hats off to you gal!!!!
Bobbolink Thanks for posting the plateau we will all be there one day
JJ agree this is a lifetime committment.
I am doing well. Staying under my 1600 calories not drinking enough water. Does coffe and tea count?I am up to six glasses of water I know I need to increase but I already spend a lot of time in the potty I need to get cracking on my exercise use to be so faithful.....
Wow, you gals sure keep this place busy. I signed on briefly the other day,but didn't have time to introduce myself. I'm still at work now, but taking a break.
I'm 56 as of Feb 21 and live in upstate NY in a village between rochester and Buffalo called LeRoy. (JELLO was invented there and we have a JELLO Museum up the street). I have been married umm....28.5 years and have 2 daughters aged 25 and 23...neither are married so no grandkids yet.
I work full time for a Johnson and Johnson company called Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics in Rochester doing safety and health management. I have been in the safety/environmental field for over 25 years.
I like to walk outside (when it's not snowing), . and golf, and photography. Also singing
Health-wise I have been focusing on my weight reduction and exercise for about 4 years now. I'm tall (5'10"...although lately I'm more like 5'9"), and for most of my life could eat without gaining. I put on a lot during pregnancies and it was after my second that the weight didn't come off. Also, I began to put on about 3-4 pounds a year until 4 years ago when I got serious.
I am doing WW for the second time - lucklily they offer it at work so it's easy to do.
Well, break time is over
PS..Bobbi, I found your input on plateau busing very inspiring!
Well,
all this work, And my Triglycerides did NOT come down.
Dr. called and said to take more blood work in 3 months.
Oh well, just one more incentive to keep working hard
One would think 2 months and 11 pounds would change something!
Nice to have you join us! I made Jello Fat-Free, Sugar-Free Chocolate Pudding just this afternoon! It's always interesting to find out about places where things are made. I LOVE watching shows where you get to see HOW things are made.
Thanks for the warm welcome! I love the idea of having an online support system. I've got a little more time now to introduce myself. I turned 54 last month, have two children (a daughter going for her doctorate in English Literature and a son who is married to a wonderful girl and trying to start a family), and we all bought houses and moved last year. My daughter and I are in OK and my son lives in TX. I am fairly newly married (3 years), have two cats and am extremely happy with all aspects of my life except my weight! It has been going up rather steadily for the last 8 years without me being terribly concerned. Just how does THAT happen????? Now here I am heavier than I have ever been in my life and determined to do what it takes to get healthy. After all, I want to be around to see and play with my grandbabies when they get here! What is it about menopause that slows metabolism to a snail's pace? It seems like my weight doesn't want to budge no matter what I do. You'd think all those hot flashes would be burning up loads of calories... the heat has to come from somewhere, right? Evidently not.
I'm enjoying getting caught up with everyone's activities! I've been busy in the yard and in the garage these last few days. I cleared out a big area out back so that I could get it ready to plant some new bushes and flowers. Boy! There were a lot of vines and old dead branches in there! Whew! I'm trying to get our garage cleaned out so that we can put at least one car in there sometime in this decade!! Right now it is a mixture of books, car stuff, band equipment, college stuff and TONS of miscellaneous "Don't throw that out!" stuff!
I've been doing HipHopAbs for the last few weeks. I haven't lost any more weight, but I HAVE lost THREE MORE INCHES in my waist! My son has this pair of cargo pants that I just love. They are getting small on him, AND they now fit ME!!! Woo! Hoo! Got me a new pair of cargo pants. I LOVE pants with lots of pockets!
I found a really great book the other day at Borders. It's called Flip the Switch Lose the Weight by Robert K. Cooper, Ph.D. It tells of all kinds of different strategies to get the metabolism going. I have learned a lot already, and I'm just on page 56!
THanks for the great recipes, Bobbi! Yes, coconut DOES up the calories really fast when you add it! I'd better go get some coconut extract!

That is SOOOOOOOOO great, Flutterby! We need to find out just how we can harness that energy!!!!
Hello Ladies...So nice to catch up with everyone! I finally got my exercise in today....I am just now getting up to 1 hour a day, and feeling really good while doing it!! (3000 minutes a month....I'm insanely jealous!)
Mickey.... Hope tomorrow is filled with renewed hope.
I am using every trick I can find to keep myself motivated to stay on my diet. Every morning when I wake up I visualize what it will be like to be at goal weight, and visualize all the steps between then and now. Scan through the day to make sure I have the days menu planned. I put on paper the things I want to remember, like to make sure I drink at least 60 ounces of water, and account for the menu choices for the day. The visualization is such a powerful tool.
grammypaula...Tell us the hightlight of the evening of the Red Hatters! I don't do any sewing anymore...but I made a 1870's ballroom dress almost 30 years ago that was used for a high school reunion commemorating the bi-centennial of the USA. I thought the dress would never be worn again....but a lady wore it in a church pageant, another lady wore it to work for rodeo dress up day.... and lastly my daughter in law wore it for a wedding dress!! If I keep losing wt I may even be able to wear it again!!!
Lynn...Your neighbor is in for a rough ride and you know from being there when your hubby died (as I was for my hubby too). There are organizations that send out home health nurses to help.... hope the meeting goes well.
Bobbolink...thanks for the Weight Loss Plateau artical....such a good motivator.(Maybe some day I can wear a white hat.) lol
Karen31...such good support from the customers. Way to Go!!
Hello to littlered, floridarusty, ellebella, flutterby & jayjay.
Take care....and look forward to catching up with all tomorrow!! HUGS
Hello everyone,
Well, I knew it-- when I got on the scales this morning I had gained a pound. I just had that feeling since I've spent this mixed up week with Eating a few more "goodies" with Tim and I didn't get in the walks like I have been doing. So this week it is back to business and I'll get that pound off and then some! I kind of feel like the "Unsinkable Molly Brown" I AIN'T DOWN YET!!!
Gosh! It is good to see so many new people. I am going to have to sit down and take the time to read and answer all the posts. But Welcome to everyone!!
Tim got a lot of things done yesterday and we are doing all right.. Just taking it one day at a time and will probably go back East in a couple weeks.
Well, I jsut wanted to post real quick this morning and I really hated to move that ticker--- but I have to keep things real or this whole journey just wouldn't work. Hope everyone has a real good day and I'll try to get back later to chat some more. Karen
Yesterday the dr’s office called me to say that I had to stay on my medicine for the Triglycerides.
Today the nurse called back. Told me my new numbers.
Cholesterol 159was over 210 (lowered with no meds)
Triglycerides 131was over 300 LDL 69 I Don’t know the before (lowered with no meds)
The doctor says this morning I can finish the bottle of tricore. And just take fish oil 3 times a day!
So as far as I am concerned, I am done with the Tricore.
And will just do what I have been doing. And up my fish oil that I already take.
So I am off 2 meds this month.
Take my last menopause meds next week!
I did my Sleep test last night.
She said I do snore. Asked her on a scale of 1-10? She said way over a 10! I will find out next week about the apnea results as she is not allowed to give that information.
I had to come home and sleep. She got me up at 5 am to go home.
I am no so behind my schedule today.
Well I am off to a late start and need to go walking this am. Curves at 3 pm.
Will talk later.
I'm no computer-whiz, but I wonder if 3FC is unusually busy this morning....I just wrote a looooooooooong post (almost POSITIVE I didn't miss a single Golden Girl) and I must say that it was witty, interesting, and undoubtedly deserving of a Pulitzer prize....then, when I hit the "post reply" button, my screen froze, and the whole danged thing was lost! Haven't had any trouble with any other sites this morning, so I dunno, folks... Ahhhhhh, crapola!!!!
Anyway, love you all, and will be in touch once I get over my frustration with this horrific loss.
Ella Know how maddening that is when lose a post. I have been trying to get in touch with someone at church they say never got the emails so sometime we put to much trust in the ole net. Wonderful when it is working but man frustrating as all when not.
Lynard A jello museum how cool. We went to London early in the year and went to a dog collar museum. I find odd museums very neat to visit.
Flutterby53 Man we have a lot in common I turned 54 last month also have two children one out of state and I too have a daughter getting her doctrate in English lit. she just got a scholarship to write her disertation so very proud of her.
Littlered How wonderful to get off the meds. One of the reasons I want to get this weight off is so I don't have to take blood pressure meds.
I am very thankful to be able to come here and post it is keeping me honest. I tuly am treating this as an addiction and I have been sober 4 weeks
