Seriously. I have 18lbs left to my weight goal, then I'll be focusing mostly on toning. I have done EVERYTHING that has been suggested to me by trainers, nutritionists, doctors, friends, infomercials, psychics (j/k), the dog (j/k, kinda) and I have been plateaued at 188 since May 24th. Three months. Now, I know. I KNOW. That's not that long, and most people plateau for months or even a year. But COME ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.
Hang in there, dietcokehead. I have no idea what you've tried, but the one that works for me is to back off for a week or two, maybe even eat a couple brownies, go for gentle walks, then run at it again full tilt. Kinda, lulling the fat into a false sense of security, ya know?
Thanks, Magicsusan....I broke it. By one stinking pound! I DID back off a bit, and "indulged"...meaning that I ate a bit more "cheat" foods than I normally do. I'm a pretty standard clean eater and I eat the same things over and over. I mixed that up a bit. They say that losing weight is 80% diet and 20% exercise; I guess it wasn't my exercise that needed work.
Only 17 to weight goal. SEVENTEEN.
Congrats on breaking that plateau! I bet that one pound feels like such a victory!
Have you considered doing a strength training program like Strong Lifts or Fierce 5 or Starting Strength? With as close are you are to goal, starting working on your strength seems like a good idea, since you said you want to "tone" afterwards.
Yeah, I know what you mean. It is discouraging when you feel like twice as much effort yield half the results, but results are results, so hang in there!
I think I'm going to up my cardio, starting today. Two days a week, I'll focus only on cardio, and the other 3-4 days will be cardio and strength training. I'm going to try that for a month and see what happens.
Thank you all for your support!!
