Kittie - thanks for the reminder of controlling food, which leads me to say don't allow yourself to be pushed around by a piece of pie/cake/icecream, lets have a good weekend and not allow food to be our bully!
Just checkign in quick. Still on plan with eating, exercise-not so much. Will be hiking tomorrow if the weather cooperates. Once a week is not enough though. I hope the weather improves soon! Too much stuff to do and never enough time. Nothing going on, so I'm not sure how it happened.
Sorry those pics i posted turned out so small, it took me ages to figure out how to even stick them on there!
Just back from double spin class at the gym. I wore my heart rate monitor for a change and it tells me i burned 521 calories, so that might make up for those glasses of bubbly last night (or not?!)
Barb - good work keeping to plan. The diet bit's the most important anyway. Keep checking in here! GrammieX6 - Hello! Great effort on your 50lb loss. 10lb gain since Nov isn't too bad really (thanksgiving, christmas etc etc), you just need to get stuck back in, which is what you're doing! Ashley - I know what you mean about not being bothered to monitor exercise etc. I'm like that with food unfortunately, i just can't be bothered to start weighing it and checking every ingredient etc. Annie - awww, sorry you're feeling awful. At least that weight gain is just water, you know it's not fat. Isn' t it good that your doctor wants to half your blood pressure med though? I'm totally ignorant on medical stuff.... Jomatho - Bah, humbug for me regarding Valentines Day! I'd rather go out and celebrate luuurve on any other day of the year when i'm not being commercially pressed into it and financially ripped off!!! I know, bad attitude!
Hoping to go see the movie Black Swan this eve. Anyone seen that one? Is it out in US?
I have so much to do yet tonight, I have to be quick. Lost 4 oz. , rode the bike for 50min. Calories were way too high at 1807, I went to the market cause it's gonna snow tomorrow again, they had these big cookies w/ icing called a black & white cookie. It was more like a thin round cake, half chocolate icing, half white icing. The market had their label over the nutrients label, so you couldn't see it, I usually don't buy something unless I know what's in it, but it looked so good, I had too. I ate the whole cookie in the car, then I got home & checked out the nutrition online. I'm so sorry I bought it, 440 cal., 18g fat, 260mg sodium. So I blew it today, tomorrow my hubby & I are going to a pizza buffet. I'll gain lots of weight!
Ange-I have to agree with you on the Valentine's Day business....I love to give/receive a small gift or card, but if I'm being taken out to dinner someplace, I would much rather go on a night when there aren't so many others out.
I have not seen Black Swan but would like to. My older son saw it and said it was "messed up".

Sorry I have been MIA for a few days and I can't even blame it on snow. There has been a ton of drama at work. More than I can talk about at this point and I'm afraid there is going to be some more before this whole transition is over. All the skeletons are slowly falling out of the closet. Not my best eating. I did manage to lose 2.6 lbs at my weigh in on Wed. I'm not changing my ticker cause it now matches my WW weight. I'll just use that as my official weight.
Sorry to hear so many of you are buried in snow. I remember those days well. It has been VERY cold here. 30's during the day with wind chills in the 20's. I even had to wear my winter coat. We had a little sleet. DH hurt his knee at work so he has been on light duty this week and will be for the next couple. He is usually out in the weather so that is a nice break for him.
Welcome to the newcomers. I will try to keep up a little better this week.
Finally couldn't stand it anymore, and hopped on the scales this morning. Was pleasantly surprised to have lost 4 more lbs, esp. considering Christmas indulgences and falling off plan too often and not exercising enough. Imagine if I had stayed completely on plan. Oh well, I guess the point is to keep trying and be glad for a downward trend. Once again, the wind is supposed to start howling any minute so no hike today. Prolly not tomorrow either, but I can hope it's better weather than the forecast says. Time to finish the last coat of paint on the second door. Feels like I'm dragging my feet but my arms are still sore and my shoulders and back.
Good morning. Hope everyone is well this fine Saturday. Well, fine being subjective--it's dark and rainy here, but not too cold. Eh, hardly notice rain after all these years. It's when it isn't raining that people take notice.
I got called in to work for an hour or so this morning, which is a bummer, but I'm now five minutes from my gym, which is a bonus. I think I'll put in some time on the treadmill, then do some weights.
The scale says I've dropped half a pound--which brings me back to the weight I've been plateaued at for over a week. I hope I see some change for the better soon.
I saw Black Swan, and although I enjoyed it, it is very hard to categorize. I don't go around recommending it--not because it isn't good; it is beautifully acted (the lead actress, forgot her name, was brilliant) and directed and the story is compelling--but because I honestly can't say who would like it and who wouldn't. If it doesn't win some awards, I will be surprised, even with the stiff competition it is up against.
Hello gang!! Well, I weighed in at 2 pounds less this morning, I hope the rest comes of soon. I'm trying to pump myself up and get busy with some exercise and house cleaning. I always sleep late on Sat. and Sun. and am just now finishing my second cup of joe. Still watching muh shows on Food Network, too. But then....it's busy time!! After that I will have a bit of fun. Fun for me is cooking. Although I am by myself (fiance has a cold and if he feels better may come in tomorrow for the Super Bowl...), I am going to make myself a good, healthy supper and try to "healthy up" a lemon cake recipe that I found. I'll post it here if it turns out good.
Sun is shining and the snow is melting here!! WOOT!
Petra-Good to see you and congrats on the loss!!!
Sum-Enjoy your time out with the girls....I wish I had friends here to do that type of thing.
Barb-I'm so glad you decided to weigh!! I think a loss is such a boost for us!! Go you!! Don't overdo on the renovations, you'll get it done just be careful.
Kitteh-Glad you are so close to the gym so you can get in a workout! Now you've made me want to sneak to the movies and see Black Swan! I'm watching my budget very closely right now, so probably won't go, though. I'll rent it when it comes out.
I posted the following on the Walk Away The Pounds thread and would also like input from you all here...
I am taking a big risk on wasting some money here....LOL. I have been worried that my younger son (older son for that matter, too) has not been getting any physical activity in his days. I devised a wicked plan () to get him moving and possibly into exercise. I decided to order the Teen Walk (he is 14) from Walk At Home and make a bet and/or deal that he will do it at least 3 times a week for a month. I think I may sweeten the deal with a crisp $50 dollar bill as the deal sealer... What do you all think?? Older son is almost 19 and I doubt I could get him interested, but thinking younger son might just go for it if money is involved. And maybe he will feel so good he will want to continue exercising in some way.
One note: I did order the DVD. I checked Amazon to try to get the cheapest price but there were none under $59????? So I ordered it from Walk At Home where it was listed at $19.95 and then they tacked on $14.13 for shipping... That is way too much for shipping, but I don't think Target or Walmart carries these....I checked online. So, it's done. We'll see if I can get him interested when it arrives.

Annie, I am not sure what that entails, but I think it really depends on the kid. I bribe my kids all the time!!!! What can I say, they are motivated by money. I usually don't worry too much because they are involved in sports, but right now we are between sports due to oldest breaking collar bone in football late fall and cannot play basketball and my youngest hates all winter school sports. They do go skiing every week or two, but that is it. So this winter, they have been sitting behind the video games a lot. You will have to let me know what he thinks. They get bored easily at that age, but since it is made for teens, maybe it will keep his interest.
BTW, my son got his learners permit today. Had him drive me to the store after he got it. I told him that was a first for both of us!! He is a little shaky on the turns and stops and things, and drives too slow, and doesn't look around snow banks (they are huge right now)! Yikes! I was trying to be calm and encouraging, but I was nervous! We have to do that every day????? We had to park waaaaay out in the parking lot because he has never parked before!!! Little bro wouldn't go with us and swears he will never drive with him
Jo - it must be scary being out with a new driver, especially in the snow, but good on you for doing it and encouraging him, and good on him for being up for the challenge.
Annie - agree with Jo that it depends on the kid. Persuading anyone to exercise if they don't want to doesn't often work, so you would need to be sneaky about your motives as well as the bribery!
Kitte - i saw Black Swan last night and thought it was an absoulute cracker! But then i like quirky independant type movies much more than the mainstream stuff anyway. You're right it certainly wouldn't be for everyone. The girl next to me was horiffied and spent most of the second half with her hands covering her face!
Hi all, another busy day. Did go to the Farmer's market even with freezing rain & sleet going on, road were ok. My daughter went along this time, I was glad to have her company. We are both dessert lovers though, I got her some cookies, donuts, stromboli & almond amaretto cake. I bought p.b chocolate cake & donuts for my hubby. Also got my fruit & I gave in and got a piece of banana cake, ate it when I got home. I don't even know how to figure the calories on that, it was baked in a bakery. I'm guessing I had around 2000 cal. That's two days in a row I had real high calories, it's back to the plan tomorrow. Rode the bike 31min & went 7.5mi. today also. Good Night!!
