Good morning everyone.........

Today is turning out to be a wonderful day. I got up and got on the scale and dropped another pound. I had not seen any changes on the scale since last week. It is pre TOM so I just figured it would not change much. So I was surprisingly pleased.
I am a calorie and carb watcher as I am a type 2 diabetic. I have been exercising almost daily since June 28th. Lost 6lbs since then. Could have probably been more but I realized I was eating to many calories so had to cut back. I can't wait for my ticker.................

I am envying all the vacationers out there. Hope everyone had a great time.

Annie I am envying the oatmeal with fresh peaches. I love oatmeal but it doesn't do well with my blood sugar. I am thinking of trying some steel cut oats to see if that does any better.

Have a great day everyone
Leann

Leann-I'm envious of the vactations, too. We had planned a small in-state trip, but I had to cancel and use money towards the new house. We are going on a "day-cation" this Thursday, but that will be it for me this year. Had to cancel last year's trip due to car repairs.

annie: looooove fresh peaches from the farmer's market! usually make a fruit crisp w/ oatmeal, ground flax and crushed walnuts. mainly peaches for the fruit but I'll throw in some apples or blueberries, or whatever other fruit I have on hand. major yummy! anybody have suggestions for mango? I grabbed 2 at the grocery store the other day because they were bogo...I'm bad about buying them and letting them go bad.

Kathi - I make mango salsa, low calorie, we eat it with chips, also have made homemade cheese pizzas topped with the salsa & have also put some in salads or pretty much anything you can do with regular salsa.

2 firm-ripe mangoes (about 1 lb. each)
3/4 cup diced red onion
1 fresh hot red chili, rinsed, stemmed, seeded, and minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/4 teaspoon salt

Peel mangoes. Slice fruit off pits and cut into 1/4-inch chunks; discard pits.
In a bowl, combine mangoes, onion, chili, cilantro, lime juice, and salt; mix gently. Chill.

Busy day, didn't get to run or make it to the gym today. But my daughter is out of town & she called just to say she loved me, so I guess it's a good thing I wasn't trying to fit more stuff in & was home when she called.

Losing it - Great job, I do eat the whole container of hummus, I try to buy the smallest containers because I just can't resist.

Caroline - Dating sounds interesting hope you have a good time & enjoy going out. I will have to check out the dance videos, I love to dance but have never tried break dancing.

Love2b150 - Hey I wanna be 150 too.

Neurodoc - I hope it doesn't take until next Spring before you get to goal, I am hoping the same for me, it has been going awfully slow.

Ange - Enjoy your traveling, will I fit in one of your suitcases?

KittehMomma - Hope today was better for you.

Annie - How soon should you have the house & be moving into your own place?

Leann - Steel cut oats don't raise my blood sugar near as much as the other oatmeals. It might really be worth you trying it.

Iwant2bfit4me - I envy the travelers too, I need to go somewhere & relax & chill for a while.

Kathi Your welcome. That is the original recipe that was given to me by a friend of mine in the bahamas. I hope you like it. It makes about a quart of salsa, I store it in an old glass mayonaise jar & it keeps for several days in the refrigerator.

want2befit4me You are welcome too. Forgot to mention that I am type 2 also.

Hi everyone! Hoping to see a loss tomorrow or Friday. I am really antsy to get back to losing!

I am taking off work tomorrow and Friday. We had planned a short vacay, but I had to cancel that and use those funds toward my new house. Sux to have to be a grown-up sometimes. I am taking my younger son and his buddy for a "day-cation" tomorrow to Turner Falls down in Oklahoma. It will be good to get away and swim for a day. Will take a picnic and plan to make that healthy. Friday I am getting started on sorting, culling and consolidating belongings at my house. I have so much stuff that I have to get rid of and that really needs to be dealt with anyway. I hope to make a LARGE dent in that stuff this weekend.

Dee-I am supposed to close on the house around August 18. I am FREAKING OUT about giving my 30 day notice to my landlord.....just worried something will happen and I won't have a place to live! Don't know what could go wrong, everything (appraisal, inspections, financing) seems to be going through without any hitches, but I'm just worried. I have to get the notice letter in with August's rent check so I need to get that written and ready. I will have from 8/18 until 8/30 to get everything moved, etc. My first house payment won't be due until.....October I believe.....so I will be able to get some things I need for the new house. I am hoping to be able to afford new living room furniture, have my fingers crossed for now. But I need to get the essentials first (stove, sell my gas dryer and buy an electric one, storm door, etc.)

Have a great day everyone!

Annie- Congratulations on everything going well with the house. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. But since you have the financing, the inspection and the appraisal, it sounds like you are in the clear. I'm glad you are getting a couple of days off from work. Your life is very full at the moment.

Yesterday, I exercised a lot and then sabotaged with late night eating. I know what I have to do- move on & be on plan today. Not too much is going on in my life. At work, we passed on a grant, which is good because it was so stressful. Now I can focus on other work.

I have two dates lined up for this week- Thursday and Friday. One of them wants to have sushi & another wants to go to a creperie. This is problematic because I rarely eat flour or rice anymore. I think I'm going to steer away from the crepe place. I've been there & the crepes are huge and loaded with buttery sauces. At the Japanese place, I can order sashimi.

Hey Dee, GM, if I could just loose 1(78) I may get there LOL. I got stuck between 182-183, now I'm stuck on 178 after seeing 176 sucks. But we'll get there. According to some site I was on it won't be until May '11, but I am hoping to be there before my 45th birthday in April

Annie, glad things are going well with the house for you. Congratulations!!

Caroline, have fun on your dates, maybe you could suggest another place to eat instead of the crepe place once you meet up. Just a thought

Have a great day everyone

Annie: love the house!

MC: you go girl! you inspire me with the dating : ) I would just tell the crepe guy you prefer something different.

Losing It: I occasionally go on a hummus binge too.

I saw several mentions of oatmeal and blood sugar. I'm prediabetic/insulin resistant. From what I've been told you need to eat a protein with the carbs to balance them out and prevent a blood sugar spike. I eat some lowfat cheese while I'm cooking the oatmeal or sometimes I'll add scrambled egg whites to the oatmeal....just a thought : )
