Default January 5 pound challenge

So...I need an incentive to lose 5 pounds and never find them again. How do we go about coordinating this?

Chubster-I'll join your challenge. I'm not sure I want to commit to 5 lbs but I want to get out of the 220's so I need to lose another 3 by the end of the month. My scale keeps sticking in the 223-225 range. I know its because I'm eating too many calories and I have to get that under control.

What are you planning to do to get your 5 lbs off?

I'm in! Maybe just start a ticker for 5 lbs and see how fast we can each get there (or 3 lbs for Petra, since that's her goal). I didn't weigh today, but yesterday was my official weigh in, so I'll put that as my starting weight - not sure I want to do daily weigh in but maybe I'll try every other day and see how that goes.

5 lbs is a perfect goal for me right now, because that's what I need to get into the 220s!!

5 pound challenge

I'm actually increasing my target calories. I've been doing a bit of research and I think I'm low at 1200-1500 and I'm going to go to 1300-1600 as my range. I've started adding in activity and burning anywhere from 150 to 500 calories a day (per the Wii) and hadn't adjusted to account for that.

I'm also trying for a minimum of 20 minutes a day activity, every day. Even if it's just doing steps on the Wii while I am watching a tv show (LOVE that feature!), I want to have some activity going every day. And when I have extra time and inclination, I can do some of the more intense stuff. I'm pretty out of shape right now, so some of the Wii stuff, like the boxing, is pretty intense for me!

Okay...let's begin!! I will weigh this morning. How am I planning to do this, you ask? MY brain is telling me:

Clean eating
Lots of water
Cardio 30 min EVERY day

I don't have a ticker yet, but I'll make some kind of visual!

I'm going to join the challenge for January.

To make a long story short (which I originally typed out but then figured that nobody really cares about that level of detail in my quantitative mind ), I want to be anywhere between 167 - 165 on the last Friday in January. This is just following my normal goals of 1 pound per week and 4 pounds per month, rather than doing anything special for the challenge. But I like being part of the challenge threads since they give a nice vehicle to support and talk about the nitty gritties.

Meeting my goal of 167 - 165 represents a 4 - 6 pound loss for the month of January. I woke up at 167.2 today (nice surprise!) so it would take a catastrophe not to meet my goal, so the remainder of the month is a keep-on-keeping-on and a catastrophe aversion process!

chubster -

I you just cut and pasted the code right into my post. There's a button that says something like "get code" and then you use the one that says bbCode. Once you've been around long enough to have a signature for your account here, you can put the code into that and then it will automatically update whenever you update it on TickerFactory. (3FC has their own tickers, but I already used some on TickerFactory so I just went there). Not sure when you joined 3FC? You have to have an account for at least 20 days before you can use the signature feature - I'm looking forward to having one because I want to put minigoals in there too.

thanks for the vibes OMY and glad you are joining newleaf!

no change for me this morning, so no updates to my ticker. I am doing well staying on plan though - I have met my food, water and activity goals every day so far this week (since Sunday) and I know the scale will reflect that at some point!

thanks newleaf!!

I'm doing the Points challenge on another thread - you get 2 pts for sticking with your eating plan, 1 pt for exercise and 1 pt for water. I am trying to keep my focus on getting perfect 4s and I will just have faith the scale will reflect that at some point. (hopefully soon, of course! lol!)

Okay, I started as of Monday. I am unable to get the weight loss chart because I don't have enough postings. So I will just put my weight in. Like I said, I had a horrible week last week.

Monday: 230.5
Wednesday: 228.8 (a lot of water weight, I think)

I will post again on Friday. This will help keep me focused over the weekends which seem to be my downfalls.

I'm still sticking with my plan on calories, water and activity. Not sure what the scale is doing, but I'll check tomorrow.
