Rainbow, I'm with you on God having a plan for us that we don't know about. It reminds me of the verse in the bible that says "Though the sorrow may last through the night, His joy comes with the morning." That verse is used in a song from many years back that also said "I'm trading my sorrows... I'm trading my sickness... I'm laying them down for the joy of the Lord." I sing that to myself every so often (very quietly... not much of a singer!!!)

Well, basketball was good... they're still undefeated and my little man played well. (Ok, he's not so little, but he's still my baby) He never gets fouls, but he got two of them in this game. They were just aggressive play fouls, but I had to tease him about that. One more week of practice and their last game is on Saturday. Then we have about 3 weeks before baseball tryouts.

Not a good weigh in this morning, but I'm ok. I know that I have not been trying as hard as I need to, so I am kicking it up a notch this week. We have some nice weather coming in, so no excuses.

Have a good week everyone. Hope the bathroom is fixed, Kappy!

Susan, It's sounds like you and the hubby had a great day ; )

Rennie, Smoking? That little s_it! hee hee

Diane, My hubby and FIL tease my son if he doesn't get in foul trouble!!!! According to them he's not trying hard enough if he doesn't pull at least 3 shooting fouls. Men. It sounds like you son's having an awesome season. They will always be our little guys. Mine's into a 31 x 33 pants. He aint so little either.

My Blue and Gold banquet went really well. I ended up with 78 in attendance so I had plenty of food left over. The leaders divided it up so, I'll be having ham and cheese omeletts for supper tonight. Just knowing what's for supper makes my day easier. It's 30 degrees this morning so a friend and I are making time for a walk. The loop we plan to do is 4.5 miles. Nice rolling hills and one steep one. I don't like the steep one, but it will be good to get off the TM. My weight is WAY up today. I feel so bloaty. Probably the ham, because my exercise and food have been good for the most part. I'm thinking I'll just pee it out LOL eventually! I'm not letting it get me down, even though my official ticker changing day is on the first. It'll be ok. I made it through Feb and all it's crazy weather w/o quitting exercising. That's a huge accomplishment, for me anyway. So, I'm off for me walk.
Toodles 'til later.
Kristi

Morning girls. A new week. I always feel good on Mondays it's like a new start.

Diane you can do it. Monday weigh-ins are hard for me, you're very brave. Here's to a good week.

Rainbow my daughter loves poms. It's hard work, they practise every day and are really good . Next Saturday are the super sectionals. Their coach is retiring this year she's been doing it 20 years and they want to do well for her. They go to state every year fingers crossed for this year.

Got to go will check in later.

kappy 02-25-2008 03:28 PM

JaneZoe, so glad to hear you're doing better. How did the pics go?

Lovn, it was nice of them to split up the leftovers. It makes it much more manageable for everyone. Omlettes are good, and it's one more thing you don't have to worry about tonight!

Rennie, I seriously doubt that dad expected you to pop right out with an instant item! Wonder how long she got grounded for . . . or if she even cares!

Congrats to all the competitors out there, sounds like we have a great bunch of kids, in sports and school. Well rounded, as they say. Can't ask for much more than that.

Restroom was closed this morning, opened up about 9:30. I think somebody called and had a fit. One stall is still out of order, but it's stupid to close the whole room for one stall. IMO. I don't think I was up to another day of jogging down the hallway.

I had a blood test on Saturday, the results were in that afternoon (this new medical plan does not mess around!). Good news is all numbers are great, nothing even close to being off or out of whack. Which is actually the bad news, because it means there is absolutely no excuse for my not losing, there is no physical reason for it to be stalled going on 9 weeks now. So. Plan F (A-E haven't worked!). It's not exercise. It has to be input. I must have some blind spot I haven't figured out yet when it comes to recording what I'm eating. Either that or I don't know one portion from 10! May have to try one of the sites other than FitDay, see if I can more easily spot anything there.

Hope everybody has a great day!

kappy 02-25-2008 04:27 PM

JaneZoe I forgot! Tweener movies -- try Goonies. My nieces & nephews couldn't watch it enough. We actually had to plan a trip through Astoria, OR since that's where the story was based. They were also pretty tickled with Ghostbusters, the Indiana Jones movies, the Back to the Future series, and all the Mel Brooks movies . . . Spaceballs, Frankenstein, Robin Hood Men in Tights. Most of the jokes went over their heads for awhile (definitely you'd need to preview those for her first), now that they actually understand many of them they like the movies more. Heaven help me. That lead to The Producers, and trust me, tweeners aren't ready for that yet!

Hi y'all. I didn't go for the run with my friend. She just goes out too dang early (like 6:30) and I didn't feel like it on Sunday morning. I did run six miles on the treadmill, followed by 30 min on the elliptical and 30 min on the bike. I love my long workouts on the week-ends.

Today it's my daughter's turn to be home sick from school. I parked her on the couch in front of the TV and did my old favorite Firm video - Complete Aerobics and Weight Training. I hope she's able to go tomorrow, but right now I am a bit worried about her. She was looking very flushed, so I took her temp and it was 104.9. I gave her Tylenol and still an hour later it has only come down to 103.6. I am thinking of calling the nurseline. :sigh: I hate it when they are sick; I feel so helpless.

lovn - I am glad the banquet went well. I copied you and put a photo in my profile. It's from a couple of years ago, when I was at my goal weight.

kappy - Good news on your results, and that they got your bathroom open.

I hope you're all having a good day.

Shy Moment 02-25-2008 08:05 PM

Ward
Gosh 104 I would have called the doc by now. Hope she feels better soon.

kappy
All of those were great movies ( except goonies my daughter just in the last year is allowed to watch that because of the cursing ). Well once her bum stops being sore so she can sit down grounding was for 1 month. We don't mess around out in the sticks lol. I think he knew what was going on but could never catch her, he figured I would know lol. It isn't about the kids caring one way or the other lol. It is about us as parents not putting up with crap. I don't even want to think about what the next generation of kids are going to be like. I heard this one little girl ( lets say 12 ) curse at her mother at the store the other day. OH MY GOSH I wouldn't have lived to tell the tail.

clyde
Good luck to your daughter

lovnmom 02-26-2008 08:53 AM

Kappy, You're taking the necessary steps to figure out why you've plateued. You'll find the solution and get losing again. Stay positive. We're here if you need to rant.

Ward, I hope your little one is feeling better. When my oldest is sick her temp always hits the 104 + area. The first few times in infancy and toddlerhood it scared the heck out of us, but now we know that's a normal "high" for her. Hang in there.

Rennie, Cursing at me wouldn't fly. I'm a bud nipper so, frankly I don't think my children would attempt it even in public. I've always handled everything "right now." None of that, " waite until we get home, " crap for me. Don't misunderstand, I do not hit my children, but I have no fear of not being their friend or taking away everything that's important to them. If that's what it takes for them to learn I can handle it.

I had a nice walk with a friend yesterday, but it's very windy and cold today. That means it's the ole TM for me. A little housework and I'm caught up for a change. It should be a good day. TBL is tonight. The blue team must go to Vegas or something. Avoiding all those buffets and free drinks would be difficult. I haven't visited in 22 years, but I don't think the cheap food and drinks have changed much. They gotta get you to part with your dough somehow.
Have a great day!

Clydegirl 02-26-2008 08:58 AM

Morning girls.

Brrr it's cold, windy and wet. I am ready for spring.

Ward I hope your daughter's temp has come down. The flu had been really bad this year. Hope she feels better it always a worry when your children are sick.

Clydegirl 02-26-2008 09:07 AM

Hi Lovn. I saw the previews for the Biggest Loser. Looks like the guys don't do well when they go to Vegas. When you're trying to lose weight that's one reward you don't want to win.

Slashnl 02-26-2008 03:29 PM

What a beautiful day we are having here. No excuses available, so my friend and I went walking at lunch. It was good to get out and talk, and the exercise was nice. Please say that spring has sprung!

I have to tell you about the service at my church last weekend (this will be the condensed version). The title was "Will you be having frogs with that?" There is a story in the bible of when Moses was in Egypt and there are a bunch of frogs everywhere. Pharoah summoned Moses and asked him to go to God and have him get rid of the frogs. Moses asked when he wanted the frogs gone and Pharoah said "tomorrow". So, the next day the frogs were dead... and the people gathered up the frogs into a big pile. There's more to the story, but the point of the message was that Pharoah didn't take care of the problem right away, he put it off until tomorrow. And, while God helped the people with their problem, it required the work of the people to get the problem fixed. ANYWAY... they gave out these little plastic frogs to everyone and we were all asked to think about what our "frogs" are (ie if your finances need help, your relationships are in trouble, your kids are on a bad path, you have addictions, etc... or do you need to lose weight and become physically fit). They asked us to take our frogs to remind us to work on our problems TODAY... and that it requires OUR effort. Then, when we've fixed our problem, we're supposed to throw our frogs away. Well, my frog is right here at my desk to help me keep away from office goodies, or going out to lunch, etc. And, to remind me to exercise. I think I'll have my frog for awhile, but I'm looking forward to when I can toss him! Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I wanted to share that with you.

Busy night tonight. My son has basketball practice until 6:00 and then a band concert at 7:00. I told him we could skip out on practice early, but he wouldn't have any of that. He mentioned something about "making a commitment to something and sticking with it", so I couldn't argue. (I guess he IS listening!!) :D

I probably won't be able to see TBL tonight, so I'll need a recap, Clyde!

Ward, how's the kiddo? Oh, and how's the mama??

Kappy, hang in there. You'll get it. I'll let you know if the frog works for me! ha!

lovnmom 02-26-2008 03:50 PM

Clyde, Our weather is dry so far, but 18 mph winds. My get up and go has kind of got up and went. I've noticed many of the challenges and rewards on TBL are centered around food this season or at least potential food dangers. I'll be right there on the couch from 7-9 tonight. Are you one of the people that exercise during the biggest loser? I usually enjoy a glass of wine and some cheese while I watch. Does that make me weird? I think I am kind of weird, whether that qualifies me or not, so what the heck LOL

Diane, The frog idea sounds really cute. Whenever your tempted you can rememebr Forever Rely On God!

I've gotten a lot of those little things done around the house today that no one notices, but they're a monkey off my back. I feel as though it's sure to kill me, but I'm getting on the TM RIGHT NOW! If I don't show up tomorrow you'll know my prediction was right.

kappy 02-26-2008 05:20 PM

You aren't going to believe this -- both the men's and ladies' room upstairs from my cube are "out of order". I haven't been downstairs yet to check either of those floors. My company doesn't believe in routine maintenance, they wait until it's broke broke (or they get called on it) before they'll fix anything. The dust bunnies on the stairs are the size of soft balls!

I hadn't noticed the language in Goonies, to be honest. But then, after all the years I've spent in ice rinks the F bomb hardly registers anymore either! Parent's, kids (ever hear a 7 year old throw the F bomb?), you can't make it an hour without a vocabulary lesson. I'm pleased as punch that my niece and nephew do odd phrases like "what the junk?" instead. Stops everybody cold because it wasn't what they were expecting to hear!

I like the frog idea. both versions. Have to see if I can get a little one myself. Whatever it takes!

Shy Moment 02-26-2008 09:54 PM

kappy
That would make me crazy. I have to have a working rest room within yards of me lol. I ran a trucking terminal many years ago. The men there didn't even speak around me in bad language. It was called respect. These days there are many that have no respect for anyone and they sure aren't teaching their children to have any either.

Slash
I don't know about spring lol. We now have at least 8 inches of snow on the grown since last night.

lovnmom 02-27-2008 07:15 AM

Busy, busy, busy for the rest of the week. Scary busy with volunteer stuff, but, that's par for the course this time of year. So many of the groups I'm involved with have very limited activity throughout the summer months. All the big events are gearing up now through the first part of May. That's why it's a very good thing there are no sports for awhile!!! I'm finding it more and more difficult to get my exercise done, but so far I'm doing it. My weight isn't reflecting it much, but I did notice a muscle in my behind that's never been there before. I think if encouraged it may actually lift my buttocks up in the right direction. Well, that's what I'm blaming the scale pause on anyway. Muscle growth. It sure couldn't be the wine and cheese!
