Default 300 + And Ready to Try Again # 1075

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears .
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

Hi Ladies,

I just watched the Biggest Looser Finally. They look amazing. I really feel inspired. I already exercised today. For me 20 minutes is great and that is what I have built up to. I am feeling so inspired I'm going to ride the bike another 1/2 mile at least before bed.

Luann: Glad to have you back! Good for you!

Blessings everyone,
Annie

Hey everyone-

I am so behind on the threads! Things have been so busy here getting ready to move. We move in a month and a half! So much to do! The cats also know something is up...they hate the travel bag they have to get into. I got the bags out to look at them and Alex (one in my avatar) looked at it and hissed and ran under the bed! Poor thing..but it was funny.

Well I am doing pretty good with staying OP. Like I have mentioned before I drink so much more water now because its bottled water. Our water tastes really bad here! Also I think its the whole convient grab and go thing. I used to just grab sodas all of the time. I'm also still trying to get some exercise in. I loaded up my MP3 player and have been dancing. Its amazing the sweat you can break into when dancing to 3-5 mintues songs! I haven't weighed lately. I decided to weigh in two weeks. Hopefully I will lose something! Also I really notice now that my thyroid meds were way to low! I have been taking my higher dose and feel much much better!

Well I hope to get more personals in later. I just wanted to get a few in..

to anyone new...or who has come back!

AMMI~You are almost to 100 pounds lost! That is awesome hun! You can do it!

WYLLENN~That is so great you have lost 120 pounds! You are such an inspiration! I love your attitude and advise!

LUAN~Glad to see you back!

ANNIE~The biggest loser was awesome! Their results made me want to get up and go run a lap or something! Such inspiration!

Well to everyone else...I hope you all are doing great!

Have a good day everyone!

Morning all. I am home sick again. This time sore throat and a slight head cold. Took the day off so I could try to give my body the rest it needs. I know its because I am so tired and busy. So, I am going to curl up and watch a movie. Then maybe try to finish my baking as well as finish wrapping the gifts that are here. Just putter around the house. Actually, my Nyquil is kicking in so maybe I will just go back to bed. I'll be around later to catch up.....

Lilion – Thanks for your sweet words! I wasn’t so matter of fact about the chocolate right after I ate them, but I think eventually I have to accept it.

I also appreciate hearing your thoughts about goal weights. When you start where we were, I think we need to recognize just how big an accomplishment it is to get to “overweight”. There’s no shame in me being here, despite the fact that where I am now is many people’s “starting weight”. I plan to keep on with this healthy lifestyle and see where it gets me.

Xena – Sorry about the 2 pounds, but if you’ve been OP you know it’s not fat. You CAN do this.

Luan – This is for life. There is no failure in starting again, only in staying quit.

Annie – I saw TBL too – they really are inspiring. Glad to see you getting back to exercise.

Michelle – I hate moving, but it sounds like this is going to be a great change for you!

Brenda – I think taking a quiet day can be a really good thing, for mind AND body.

As for me, I’ll be resting a bit. I hurt my littlest left toe yesterday at yoga. I don’t think it’s broken, but maybe dislocated? I just know it’s swollen, sore, and hurts a lot to stand and walk on, but not as bad as I would think if it were broken… so, some rest for me. I hope not too much! It’s harder to even maintain if you can’t exercise!!!

Talking

Hello Chicks!

Get ready for a shock....Lilion got out of bed this morning, drank a cup of coffee, put on her sweatpants, sports bra and tennis shoes - AND EXERCISED!

Seriously, I got up and did 10 minutes on the dreaded eliptical. Doesn't sound like much, but when you consider I've never done more than 16 minutes on the thing when I was doing it regularly, that I haven't set foot on it in over two months and I have NEVER, EVER, EVER even considered exercising in the mornings, I'm quite pleased. I'm really not a morning person, but I just have been so tired in the evenings or so pushed for time that I can't ever seem to get on the thing. So last night I thought, "If I just get up at 6 or 6:15 instead of 6:30 or 6:45 I will have time to do it in the morning and not rush any more than I normally do." Today was the first of what I hope will be a pattern. The plan is to force myself to do this at least ten of fourteen days and see how it goes. If I still HATE it with a passion at the end of fourteen days I may try a different time of day again.

Michelle: I realized you were moving but I didn't know it would be so soon! Isn't it really hard to drive up there this time of year? Will the worst of winter be over by then? And I forget, where are you moving to?

Luann: I keep meaning to ask, What is the thing sticking out of your head in your avatar picture??? It looks like a paintbrush to me!

Heather: Yoga is really hard with a sore toe. My DH had to have a toenail 1/2 way removed when we were doing yoga classes - Not good! Hope it gets better soon.

Brenda: Hope you feel better too. Ever taken Nyquil and stayed awake? Weird stuff!

Well all, I'm off. Have a happy, healthy OP day!

Hi guys

Well, I had a nap and I'm feeling a bit better. I am here getting the strength not to eat the cookies in the oven *L* I made shortbread cookies, a pan of squares and now on to gingerbread. After that I think I have one more cake to make and Christmas baking is complete! We certainly don't eat all of it I use it as hostess gifts when we go out to visit etc. I make up trays and take one with me. The bloody freezer is full but I can NOT have Christmas without my famous shortbread cookies. Not only would my husband complain but the neighborhood would revolt! *L*

Lilion~ Yes. I stayed awake once. I got the shakes and terrible sweats. After that I vowed never to NOT sleep when taking it. My nap was lovely!

K girls. Going to make something chocolate I think. I'll eat my chicken breast first though.

Default long time, no post!

hi all! sorry i've been missing for awhile. i skimmed the threads, but there's no way i can catch up. mostly, i've just been busy with the holiday coming up. lots of shopping and cooking and family time going on. i stopped posting so much cuz i was getting bummed out with myself. i've been going through a period where i just didn't feel like exercising and wasn't paying attention to what i was eating--basically no committment to anything really. then i'd get on to read and see how great everyone was doing. i was so happy for everyone and usually i'll say to myself "look--they're doing it. it's not easy for them, but they do it. get up and do it!" but this time i was like "look how great they're doing---i suck!" anyway, even with all that, i weighed myself yesterday to see what kind of damage i'd done and was pleasantly surprised to see the scale say 292. the last time i'd weighed, it'd been around 298. i'm not changing my ticker or anything right now cuz i was sick with the flu and didn't eat much so that might have had a lot to do with being that low, but it was nice to see i wasn't over 300 again or anything. anyway, i'm feeling more motivated now and missed everyone, so i'm back.

here's a few personals really quick:

melissa--your puppy is adorable! i remember when i brought mine home. she was only three pounds and could fit in your hands. too bad she didn't stay that small and quiet! now she's 10 pounds, barks like a thing possessed and runs around the house doing her own indy 500. but, i wouldn't have it any other way! enjoy--life is great with a dog!

michelle--i'm so excited for your move! i'm just sorry you have to do it so quickly and in this weather. we thought moving in december in missouri was bad last year, but i wouldn't want to do it in alaska! be careful, but have fun! i bet you're so excited to bet back down here!

wyllenn--ouch! hearing about your toe is making mine hurt! (i'm like that--i can't watch eye drop commercials cuz they make my eyes water and when i worked at daycare and had to check for lice it made my head itch--now my toe is hurting!) one of the moms in the neighborhood where i nanny broke her little toe last summer. she was in the basement and kicked a rolled up carpet on accident. she knew it was broken by the unnatural way it was sticking out. she couldn't wear any shoes for a week or so--just flip flops--and had a terrible time walking. even after about a month, some of her shoes were still tight because of the swelling. the doctor told her to take it easy, keep it up and put ice on it for the swelling. i'd tell you to see the doctor, but the doctor told her there isn't much to do except tape it to the toe next to it to keep it still and wait for it to get better. she also had to go back at one point to have it reset cuz it was such a bad break (had to wait for some swelling to go down or something), but the dr. said that's unusual. anyway, i hope yours isn't broken or dislocated and that you're running around again soon! oh....and, i hope to be adding to the exercise thread again soon!

well, i'd better go. i'm at work and i have to go run upstairs and see if the drano cleared the bathtub drain or not. yes, i'm not only a nanny--but a plumber too! take care and i hope everyone is enjoying the holidays so far! lori

Lori -- thanks for the info. I've been reading too that there's nothing really to do for the little toe. I think it's not broken though, cause it is feeling better, but I still can't walk right on it... much less do yoga or much else. Hopefully I'll be back to it soon.

I'm glad you didn't gain and can see yourself getting back to the exercise!

Lilion --WTG with the morning exercise! You and Jill can support each other. We have the Gazelle Girls, maybe we can also have the Morning Movers or something...

Congrats on the UPS guy noticing the weight loss. I am sure other people have to but are not sure if they should or should not say anything...you are doing great.

Heather - I hope you are feeling better soon. Try using Epsom salt and very warm water..it will at least help with the swelling and do not push your self you will definitely regret it if you do.

I watched the biggest looser last night too and I was so happy and inspired. Can you believe those transformations. I could not even recognize some of those people.

As for everyone else. I know I must sound like a broken record but thank you, thank you, thank you for being inspiring.

Default Did You know...

Hi guys.... Just reading a Biggest Loser article and here's what it said...

"Avoid processed meats, such as bologna, hot dogs, salami etc. Not only are they high in fat, but these foods contain sodium nitraites, which react with foods in your stomach to form highly carcinogenic (potentially cancer causing) compounds."

Think about that next time you crave a hotdog or a pizza with meats on it.

Yupyup...count me as another who watched The Biggest Loser finale show last night..AMAZING! And what's even more amazing, IMO, is that 9 of the contestants who were never even on the ranch lost over 100 pounds

I didn't do my early morning workout (so much for Morning Movers, eh Heather? ), so I went for a brisk 30-minute walk around the block at lunch time. I have my weigh-in at TOPS tonight, so I didn't want to miss out on exercise completely!

I'm going to change my ticker--it's been on 290 for a few days now, so I'm counting the 3-pound loss for the week

just a quick question....

when i started reading on here, someone (i don't remember who) was talking about how bad for you frozen meals (like lean cuisine?) could be for you--too much sodium, etc? anyway.....i've been eating them for awhile because it's easy to buy some to keep at work for lunch and have been losing and gaining the same 3 pounds for awhile. now that i've been off program for awhile and not eating them, i seem to be down a little bit. i was thinking too much salt in them, but does anyone know an answer? i mean, i know fresh, whole foods are always better, but are the convience meals all bad? opinions? i'm just terrible at getting lunch together before i leave for work and love having them at work already with nothing else to do except pop it in the microwave. but, i want to lose the weight too......

ok, that's it. oh....just wanted to add. i saw biggest loser too! it was an amazing results show! talk about some motivation!
