Default 300+ and Ready to Try Again #1067

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears .
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

Just a few personals, as there is NO WAY I can catch up with an entire week missed:

Zelma – What a great video! Thanks for sharing it.

Ammi – Happy anniversary! I am so sorry to hear about Beth’s accident, but what a sweet girl to be so worried about spoiling your day. That was a really nice picture of you and Darren. The tattoo is quite impressive too.

Lilion – I thought you looked lovely in your new dress. I am sorry that woman at the fair was so insensitive.

Sharon – I am so glad to hear you are feeling normal.

Stormie -

Elaine – Welcome back!

Well, it was a good trip but way too short! Hopefully I will have some pictures later today. We spent the week staying on Paradise Island, Bahamas at the property my BF’s uncle manages. He is married and has three small children, plus his older son was there with his BF. We stayed in a unit with my BF’s parents and then partway through the week his brother. It was good to see everyone, but the three children were exhausting at times and it was hard to get any time by ourselves.

I didn't pay too much attention to what I ate while I was away, but I didn’t seek out food opportunities, if you know what I mean. I am sure I could have handled the eating better, but it was also good to relax and enjoy myself. I had my Kashi and breakfasts were good, and I didn't choose anything crazy, but there were some communal meals that were a bit tricky and I did drink a bit more than usual.

For me the best part was seeing how far I had come fitness wise. I was able to do a very long walk on the beach without feeling like I was going to die. The sand on the beach is very loose and the beach is somewhat steep so it isn’t easy to walk on. Also, when we walked over to the Atlantis hotel, before I was tired just getting to the entrance, and this time it felt like nothing at all. My fitness goal for the trip (plus I HAD a fitness goal for the trip) was to walk the bridge between Paradise Island and Nassau. Not only did I do it, it wasn’t a big deal, and then we walked over into downtown Nassau.

Also, I almost fit the airplane seatbelt without an extender, so I think I can safely say that it was the last time I will ever need to ask for one.

Nancy, I'm glad you had a wonderful time on your trip and that you had wonderful NSV.

I went to the pic page and I love all the new photos.

Katt, your dogs and lambs are just adorable. I just wanted to cuddle the lambs.

Ammi, Beth looks just like you! She's a beautiful girl. Her nose is only a little swollen, it doesn't look broken to me.......I didn't get my nose reset. It's a long story. I just took lots of tylenol, ice etc. I only have a little bump. Very few people notice it. (I'm so glad) It happened in 1984 or 1985 when I was still married to my ex.
I'm so glad your mouth ulcers are almost gone. It's great your doctor listens to you and values your feeling and opinions. Some doctors don't listen at all cuz "THEY'RE THE ONE WITH THE DEGREE!"
Congrats on you nsv with Beth's teacher. That's wonderful. I can't wait til people say that about me. I especially want to surprise my grown children that live far away. That would be cool!
WHEN you come to the US for Thanksgiving, you MUST come to dinner at my home. And, if you email your snail maid address to me I'll send what ya need to make a pumpkin pie....sugar free of course. It's wonderful!
The pic of you and Daren is just lovely. You look so young!! I keep forgetting you're about the same age as my little sister.....she was born in 1967 and I was born in 1959. Your weight loss it wonderful shown off in the new pic.
:hug & :congrats:

Sharon, I'm so happy for you and your relief. I knew they'd get your dose adjusted. I remember how great I felt when I realized how awful I had been feeling. It was like living in a deep dark hole. But no more!

Today is off to a good start. I have tons of laundry to do before bed time, so I'd better get going. I hope all of you have a wonderful and op day!

Sorry only a few personals, maybe I can get back on here later this evening.
Hugs,

hello everyone! it feels like i've been gone forever! this holiday break was great! i do not want to go back to work tomorrow morning! besides being lazy all weekend and sleeping in, i hate that it's so dark when i get up and when i get off work. i'm counting the days until dec. 21st when the sun starts staying out longer!

so it sounds like everyone had a pretty good holiday. ours was good, too. the only mishap wasn't too major. i put the turkey in and after two hours was going to turn it since our oven is hotter in the back then in the front. well, in my haste to turn the turkey, shut off the beeping timer, reset the timer, get the oven closed, keep the dog away from the hot oven door, not burn myself, etc. i pushed the cook time button instead of the timer. the cook time is for setting the oven to turn on in whatever amount of time and start cooking. after about an hour, i was telling my husband that the turkey wasn't looking very cooked for being in there over 3 hours and he said the oven didn't seem very hot, so i was looking at the timer and realized what i did. we had to turn the oven back on and reset the timer, but luckily it was just us, my mom and my MIL, so we didn't care that we ate about 30 minutes later then planned. everything else was fine and easy and now we're just trying to finish up all those leftovers!

since my dad's funeral, i've been totally neglecting my eating and workouts, even though i said i was restarting for him. i just couldn't drag myself out of bed last week. but, this week i'm refocusing. i have to meet my new mini-goal! so, keep your fingers crossed for me!

nancy--your pics from your vacation are making me drool! i think i should have lived by the ocean my whole life! it sounds like you had a lot of fun. that bridge you walked looks long! way to go on being able to cross and then do more walking!

ammi--a belated feel better to beth! her poor nose! and i agree with sandy--she looks just like you! i'm glad that you had some time with daren on your anniversary even with an unexpected trip to the hospital! my tattoo is just a little sun. it's on my foot, under my ankle bone. i'd like to get another one of the letter T for my last name, but i haven't done it yet since you're not supposed to get one while your pregnant and we're hoping to be pregnant sometime soon. but, maybe when we're between having kids i'll get it then. i'm sure you'll get used to daren's quickly. i sometimes forget that i have one and then i'll see it and be startled that it's there!

sharon--hope your back from your eye laser surgery quickly. i have a couple of friends who've had it done and love it and my aunt is getting hers done in a week. i'm sure you're going to love the results!

well, i haven't been on here to tell everyone, but over the holiday weekend, i ordered the gazelle too! i just got an email today saying it's been shipped, so it should be here by the end of the week! i can't wait to try it out! i hope i love it as much as ammi and misti!

well, better run. the dryer is done and the clothes are waiting for me! see everyone tomorrow! lori

Just rushing through... more later... but have to say

YIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEE

It really looks like I will not have to go to work tomorrow because of the snow! Yayaaaayyyyyyy. Unless they close the company (which is a good possibility since it is snowing this much which is rare here) I will have to take a vacation day but even if I do I am still going to enjoy it!!

Hi everyone

Well it has been a while .. sorry for the absence and sorry I cant catch up with everyone .. so much has been happening on here and Im having a hard time reading all the news lol ..

Firstly well done to those that have been staying OP and have lost pounds or inches or clothing sizes .. well done for sure and keep up the great work!

Welcome to any newbies that I havent had a chance to meet yet, Im sure you will find this place a wonderful place to come to for support Lok forward to getting the chance to get to know you

Welcome back any that have been absent for a bit (like me lol), its lovely to see you still around and part of the community ... isnt it lovely to know this place is here where you are able to come back again and again to such a warm welcoming feeling

Okee .. now quickly for my news ..

Work is going great .. definitely tiring and I will admit Im able to stand longer without feeling like my legs want to revolt ... but they are still pretty sore, still only early days I was supposed to work on Saturday for a full day as security but Friday put a stop to that ...

Fridays High was the weigh in .. as you can see Im 1 pound short of my Xmas Eve target ... so Im going for that extra 10 pounds but will alter my chart as I go lol ... also at work I caught a shoplifter .. although I dont know if I think of that as a high cos it was sad that it was a 10 year old kid who did it while his mum was in the clothing area of the store he was taking little cars out of their packets and pocketing the cars!! So it was a semi high/low ... but I caught my first shoplifter anyway .. really dont like that aspect of the job lol ..

The low? Well I was being a helpful worker loading 4 bags of compost into a ladies car (lord knows where the guys that are supposed to do that job were but they werent where they would have been helpful!) and this little girl rammed into my ankle with a trolley while my hands were full of one of these 10kg bags of compost!! OMG the agony!! It hit right on the ankle bone and next to it .. and the little demon giggled!!! ARGGGHHH was sooooo tempted to dump that last bag on the kid rofl ... the woman I was helping was stunned at what happened and felt terrible for me (not her kid by the way), but I didnt want her to be upset so I made out that all was ok lol .. finished loading the compost and hobbled inside to ask for first aid ... USELESS!! Took an hour before one of the first aiders took me upstairs to put an icepack on my darn ankle!! Anyway .. long story shorter ... I ended up going to the doctors after work only to be told I shouldnt have been on my ankle again at all .. I definitely should have had first aid applied sooner and that I would have to keep off my ankle for the next 3 days!! grrrrr .. I tried to explain to work that I would be happy to come in anyway but they said I wasnt allowed to as they had to follow doctors orders as well .. boy was I cursing!

So I go back to work on Wednesday night (5-10pm).

Im feeling fine today ... might try and get a little of either walking or Richard in .. I have found if I do one of them before I go to work I can handle the day on my legs a little better

Also an update on my measurements ... From when I started on July 22:
Chest down 5"
Waist down 10"
Hips down 5"
Neck Up .25"
Bicep down 1"
Forearm down .3"
Thigh up .75" (????)
Calf .. hasnt moved lol

Total of 20.3" lost and 49 pounds after 18 weeks

Okee .. Im gonna try and catch up on reading if I can ...

Oh before I forget ..

AMMI!! Belated Happy Anniversary hun ... sorry I missed being on time .. it sounds like it was a memorable one lol .. and I loved your piccys too .. hope your baby gets better soon!

Hi All,

Just a quicky to report a solitary 1 lb loss this week. I really wanted to lose 2 lbs so I could be in English terms 16 stone 13, out of the 17s forever. Oh well when I think I used to be in the 23 stone range then the 17s still sound pretty spectacular

Will try to do some personals later, until then everybody take care and bye for now. Oh and Patti, I wouldn't worry about how much you are losing now, it's just the FFM doing overtime after missing you for a few WIs in the past on the big 70 lost

Hugs,

Ammi

Hey everyone-

I hope everyone had a good weekend and Thanksgiving. I had a good one. The only problem is I have a really bad cold. Looks like I may have strep throat. I can barely talk or swallow! So I am a little bit miserable! I am starting to think I have no immune system! This is like the second really bad cold I have had in the past two months! My DH said a lady on the plane back here was really sick...proably where we got it from. DH is also sick. I am sure it will go away soon but I just feel like I can't catch a break this month! But on a more positive note...the biopsies are doing really good! Still will have to do wound dressings for another two weeks...but they are not infected! I have yet to get my results in...I figure the holiday has thrown everyones schedule off. I weighed the other day and I am still the same weight. (thanks God) I am just so annoyed because for months I seem to be not able to get into full gear with losing this weight. But hopefully when I get well everything will get back to normal. Ok enough rambling on...lets see if I can get a few personals in...

To anyone new or has come back!

AMMI~Love the pics! So sorry your DD is hurt! Hope she is doing much better. And you and your DH make sure a cute couple! Thanks for sharing the pics!

LILION~Thanks for posting your picture of the dress. You looked so pretty!

NANCY~Glad you had a great time. Thanks for sharing the pics...I want to go!!! Looks so warm down there....the high up here is -10! Congrats on your NSVs! Glad the plane ride went fine.

LORI~Glad you are back. That is so cool you ordered a gazelle! You girls are really making me want one!

MISTI~That is nice if you don't have to go to work! Stay warm!

KATT~Sorry about your ankle! Ouch! Hope its doing better! WTG on the loss! You are doing wonderful!

PATTI~I am not sure about your scale question. But 70 pounds lost is awesome!! WTG!

AMMI~Congrats on the 1 pound lost! Losing even just half a pound is great! WTG!

OK I have got to go and take some Nyquil and go back to bed. I love Nyquil it just knocks me out!

I hope you all have a great week!

Hello! May I join you? I'm just under 300 pounds and very determined to DO IT this time.

My name is Xan. I'm in my 50s and a writer, editor and teacher. I'd been a bit heavy in high school (I thought I was a whale, but I weighed 150-160 at 5 foot 8) and heavy as a young adult (bounced around between 190 and 230). Then about 15 years ago I started gaining weight in earnest -- about 5 pounds a year. Despite numerous attempts to take it off, I haven't succeeded.

I'm doing Weight Watchers. Too early to say it's working, but I'm working! I hope to get to know all of you. Your stats, and posts, are very inspiring.

Talking

Hello Chickies!

I'm too far behind to ever catch up on replies, but thought I'd pop in and share my FATTENING weekend! DH had to work Thurs and Fri so we didn't have Thanksgiving until Sat at the in-laws. Didn't stop me from eating a large buttered popcorn at the movies with DS, Country Kitchen food TWICE, handfuls of pecans while making pies and sweet potato casserole...you get the idea. The bad news: I'm up 5 lbs. The good news: It isn't 10! I definately deserve the gain, but as of today I'm back OP and ready to get rid of those last 10 lbs. (Yep, 10, not 5, but I'm not bothering to change The Count until I'm done!)

Sunday I helped my oldest friend move. We've known each other since Kindergarten - 38 years! That's a LONG time to be friends with someone, isn't it? She just became a WW leader! She lost 45 lbs - the amateur! - and is at goal. Seriously, at 5'5" she's been as small as a size 4 in the years I've known her, so I'm sure being a 16/18 just KILLED her! If nothing else, she's inspired me to get back on track...and not just because I spent the day carrying stuff up to her 2nd floor apartment!

Thanks for the nice comments on my gown. I felt pretty in it and that's what's most important in my book! I was pleasantly surprized this weekend when the in-laws decided family photos had to be taken and I realized I'm substantially smaller than a number of ladies in the family now!

I'll let you ladies go for now! Take care and keep up the good work!
