Ya know Ladies, you're all correct. A second marriage should be paid for by the couple. If she gets mean I'll just remind her of that. (especially since it's the second wedding for both of them) After all, her dad & I paid for our own wedding. And besides, I have been off work for 6 weeks. Y'all are just great. Hope everyone has a great evening. I gotta get in the shower and start dinner for my hubby and dd. The other SD that lives with us is visiting her mom this weekend so things are quiet here for a change.
Stay OP Ladies!! :hugs:

You mentioned that Lean Cuisine is processed crap. Is it cuz of the sodium in it? I ask cuz I take those or the weight watcher meals to work a lot for lunch. I certainly don't want to do anything to mess up my weight loss journey. So, I promise not to give you a hard time when I'm asking for your feed back.
Well I am glad I can at least provide some comic relief! Thanks for promising not to launch any attacks!

I certainly don't want to discourage anyone from eating a lot of processed foods if that is what they want to do. It is from my own research that I have decided most processed foods are extremely low in nutrients and high not only in sodium but dozens or even hundreds of chemicals. I had no idea until I did the research what "natural flavors" consist of.

I think this quote from Fast Food Nation site is small enough to postl

"A typical artificial strawberry flavor, like the kind found in a Burger King strawberry milk shake, contains the following ingredients: amyl acetate, amyl butyrate, amyl valerate, anethol, anisyl formate, benzyl acetate, benzyl isobutyrate, butyric acid, cinnamyl isobutyrate, cinnamyl valerate, cognac essential oil, diacetyl, dipropyl ketone, ethyl acetate, ethyl amyl ketone, ethyl butyrate, ethyl cinnamate, ethyl heptanoate, ethyl heptylate, ethyl lactate, ethyl methylphenylglycidate, ethyl nitrate, ethyl propionate, ethyl valerate, heliotropin, hydroxyphenyl-2-butanone (10 percent solution in alcohol), a-ionone, isobutyl anthranilate, isobutyl butyrate, lemon essential oil, maltol, 4-methylacetophenone, methyl anthranilate, methyl benzoate, methyl cinnamate, methyl heptine carbonate, methyl naphthyl ketone, methyl salicylate, mint essential oil, neroli essential oil, nerolin, neryl isobutyrate, orris butter, phenethyl alcohol, rose, rum ether, g-undecalactone, vanillin, and solvent."

But try to find OUT what is really in it.. you CAN;T. In Fast Food Nation the author was not even ALLOWED in sections of the plants to see what was in it and was sworn to silence on the rest. They won't TELL you what they put into it.

There is lots more... just google "natural flavors" -- or read Fast Food Nation!

Anyway I really don't want to get anyone upset with me so will keep this answer brief. Just my personal beliefs... the more I find out what is/is not in our processed foods the more I try to stick with natural foods as much as possible.

Hi all! Was proud of myself today. Had some family visit at the last minute today and they wanted to go out to eat... to the chinese buffet . I did well and didn't feel like I missed out at all. I got mostly veggies (which still aren't all that healthy on a chinese bar but better then the fried stuff.) I didn't get any rice or any of the fried foods. I drank water. I actually left there not feeling overly full & greasey (you know that feeling that oil is coming out of your pores from all the fried greasey foods. ) I know it was way more calories then if I would have had the lunch I had planned but still a success. Plus I ate a very small dinner to counteract it.

Michelle: What part of Louisiana are you from? DH is from South La. I moved down there at 18 (one of those rebelious teenage things ). I met him and we lived down there together for 5+ years. We have been back in Georgia for 2 1/2 years now.

Misti: Awesome job on the water aerobics. I would really like to try that. I think I would really enjoy it, despite the bathing suit thing. But none of the gym facilites around here have a pool & the nearest ymca is quite far. I also would have to figure out what to do with DD. I really wanted to get her in a mommy & baby swimming class ... maybe next summer I will brave the commute.

Valerie: Good job on the weigh in! Every little bit counts!

Annie: Yes, that is my little Diva Superstar on my avatar. She is a nut.

Sandy: Sorry to hear about your family troubles. Your SD sounds like a pain & a girl that never really grew up. I agree with everyone that she shouldn't expect your DH & you to foot the bill, especially if she hasn't been around. Its also very sad that your DH can't see his granddaughter often. Both my dad & DH's dad have passed away and we hate that she doesn't have a real grandpa. Every kid needs a grampa!
I am also a step daughter, my mom & stepdad have been together since I was about 7. We have never gotten along very well. My teen years made for a very rocky relationship, there were lots of screaming matches . But I grew up and now we can act civil towards each other. He also loves my DD like she was his blood grandchild. Your SD sounds like a brat that hasn't grown up & a user. Don't mean to offend or anything but thats what it sounds like. It does also seem like she is jealous of your daughter but its her own fault, she left, she decided not be in your lives, you can't be to blame for that.
You are a patient woman and fabulous wife for dealing with all of that for your hubby. Good luck on getting through it all.

Well, better get to bed. Thats one of my challenges, making myself get enough rest. Hope you all have a great rest of the weekend!

Oh and will add an NSV! When I was at the yard sale and looking at it, the guy said "Well you won't be able to CARRY it!" I said... "Oh.. is it heavy? I have to get it up to a third floor apartment." He picked it up and set it back down and I went over to try. I picked it right up and said "Oh yes I can get this up the three flights of stairs." He was a bit surprised! I said "I'm pretty tough" and he said "You LOOK pretty tough!" But it was really not that hard for me to carry it up the stairs. Later it did occur to me that perhaps that was really not such a compliment as tee hee, he obviously thought I LOOK like a "fat old lady." But at least I could do it!!!

Misti: I also agree in eating mostly "whole, clean" foods. I don't like the idea of not knowing what is exactly in my food. But I also understand the need for a quick & easy meal to grab. I just find that I am not happy with the quality of processed stuff like frozen meals. Fresh, whole, clean foods taste better & make you feel better in the end cause it doesn't have all that sodium & unknown chemicals in it. If I can't pronounce it, I don't want to eat it.

I really like this smiley & just wanted to use it, lol.

Misti: My aunt use to have one of those rider. What a great deal you got! I think she paid over $200 for hers (not sure if it was the same model or not). I don't know its real benefits but I used it a few times & really felt my legs getting a heck of a workout! It also got my heartrate up after a few mins. I agree that I wouldn't rely on it soley but anything that make you feel your muscles working, gets your heartrate up & makes you sweat has to be good for you.

Thanks Nonames! Yes, of course we need something fast and easy to eat at times. But I have learned that by cooking ahead in a crockpot or oven and freezing in small portions, I can have my own healthful meals.

Yes I did get a deal. I have found the same one I got selling for LOTS more all over the Internet!! Yippee! And you are right... I too can feel my legs and arms getting one heck of a workout! LOL I can only do it for about 3 minutes at a time! And I have been working out quite a bit. Obviously I still have some muscles which need work. Since I do want to count it as my exercise I am adding up my minutes and will post them when I get a few... LOL right now I am up to 9 minutes but not all at once. This thing is HARD!!! And I am on the easy pedals!!!

I have also read some reviews now from people who are saying what you said... if you use it in combination with other exercises it can be a great workout. It's definitely not "it" by itself but then I didn't plan for it to be! I have really wanted something quiet which I could do any time day or night in my apartment! I am happy with my deal... and I found a free instruction manual online with different variations!

Thanks for the encouragement.

Oh... and about the bathing suit thing. First off I don't wear one... I have biker shorts and black lightweight tank top thing. Also one thing which has surprised me is the number of heavy women at the pool... a lot of them are very overweight so I don't feel so conspicuous. Especially since my legs show and they are my skinny part LOL. I am getting to where I don't cringe quite so badly when it is time to take off my giant T-shirt. I am learning that swallowing my pride and just getting out and doing things is worth the rewards.

ammi - honestly, if he said that now, no, things couldnt be any different. there are too many layers. too much damage. that he doesnt even know about. he writes songs for her, and i beg him to play guitar for me (and he doesnt). he lied to me about a friend of ours from high school being in town. theres just so many little things it just adds up. cant even look at him right now. so ces't la vie. he doesnt call. he emails me to complain about his work, but cant reply to my emails about why things are wierd with us. he doesnt understand what it means when someone doesnt call you for 2 weeks. he doesnt get that he should (even as my friend) show some flipping effort. so im done giving it any of mine.
