TANSTAAFL: There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.

Here's one of my tricks for dealing with "free food"... think of it this way, it may not cost any money, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't cost your body anything... just like any other food, I have to ask myself if it is worth it to me to eat it.

Even if there is going to be "free" food, I often bring my own food anyway! it's not worth it!

LOL I am cracking up over this, as most of the time I agree completely with this! And I am really only sharing this because I was kind of wanting to anyway... certainly don't want to imply it isn't best to bring our own food, as I too DO it!

But this is meant as more of an NSV. Today Chipotles opened up a new restaurant near our office and invited a lot of the businesses to have all their employees come down for a free lunch. I was NOT going to go... then I saw what some had and that there were salads so went down there.

I was so proud of myself. I got the wrap and ONLY the healthful ingredients on it... chicken, green peppers, onions, tomato/onion salsa, a tiny bit of rice and a tiny bit of mozarella cheese. AND then I took it to the office, cut it in half and ate half, so have half for tomorrow... LOL PLUS the lunch I had taken for today which may end getting trashed. I was just amazed at myself as before I would have loaded that thing full of cheese, sour cream, etc. and pigged down the whole thing without a second thought. And know what... ? Half was PLENTY for lunch!

BUT I again want to emphasize that I DO agree with you... it is far BEST to always bring our own food to this kind of thing. Your comment just made me chuckle and decide to share this. But I agree... it is NOT free if it is harmful to you... better to let unhealthful food go to waste than to WAIST.
