300+ And Ready to Try Again...#966
WELCOME !!!
We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs. We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears. We share what works for us and what doesn't. We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion. Motivational Monday Tuesday Tips Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it. Thankful Thursday FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight. Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity Share your Success Sunday These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out. We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us. WELCOME! I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out. If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site. Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker. There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. Hi All,
Well I haven't posted for a while and I see I am miles behind again, so I think I better try to catch up. Hpnotq - I see on your post that your exercise goal has been met for this month :cheer: Sorry you haven't been posting for a while, is everything ok? Sharon - I think you look FABULOUS with red hair, it really suits you. I was a bit worried that it might look a bit harsh after seeing how much blonde suits you, but I think you are one of these people that can look great no matter what the hair colour. I am glad you finally posted the pics. Your boys look like butter wouldn't melt in their mouth lol, even your litte dirt magnet  Your ankle looks so painful, I wonder why it's more sore today, did you walk on it too much yesterday do you think? Thanks for asking about my WI, it went very well, I lost another 6 lbs :cb: Newsnerd - that's great that you feel like you have lost weight, I hope you see a loss on the scales to compound that feeling :crossed: How are you coping with the MIL? Patti - that is brilliant that you hubby wants to lose some weight now too, it will make it so much easier for you not having the temptation of his fave foods around you. How are the headaches now? I am glad you got some meds that will hopefully make you feel better soon. Don't worry that you can't exercise, just concentrate on feeling better  Valerie - remind me, are you doing the SB diet? I figure you are seeing as you didn't want to eat any bread. Good on you for having the willpower not to have any :cp: Over here right now we have a band in the charts called the Zutons and they have a song out called Valerie. I really like it and every time I hear it I think of the only Valerie I know - you :D SugarKube - :bravo: to you for losing 8 lbs, and to hubby for losing 8 lbs as well, you guys are obviously doing something right :cp: Melperimeter - hey there :wel3fc: lovely to see you here, and well done on jumping right in amongst us to introduce yourself. This forum runs at a super fast speed, but just remember nobody expects personal replies, so if all you have time for is a quick hi, then please pop on just to say that :D I used to have a friend that lived in Trenton NJ, he's moved now to PA I think. You saying you don't live far from there reminded me of him :D Angie - sorry that TOM brings you down so much, are you trying for children, just wondering why you came off the birth control if it helped out so much? I use the Implaon contraception and haven't had TOM for 5 years, bliss :D Good luck when you weigh tomorrow, :crossed: that when you get on the scales it will be one of the days where you see a loss! Not long now til your hubby is home, I am sure you are counting down the days, hours, minutes etc, I know I would be if it was Daren away from home. Misti - what a wonderful NSV you had, congrats on getting yourself out of the pool by the ladder. Keep on going as you are and soon enough you will be hauling yourself out along the side of the pool without even having to use the ladder :cheer: I had a nice NSV yesterday, I actually sat in the bath without feeling like I was wedged in :D So it seems I have to offer the FFM a bigger incentive to be nice to Patti and yourself, I thought ice cream would do the trick because of the hot weather, perhaps I better offer a years supply of the stuff, Skinny Cow of course, can't have the FFM gaining weight  NightKatt - boy oh boy you have had your fair share, more than your fair share actually of accidents. Do you have two left feet  Sorry you are going to be missing your hunny when he goes back to the city. Sharon mentioned how we both had our guys move in with us not long after we met. With me I met my guy online, met him in person after 2 months, and he moved in with me 3 weeks later :D We just couldn't bear to be apart and as he lived 5 hours away on the train weekend visits just weren't enough. We got married the same year :D Karen - that's wonderful that you showed some online friends your photos, I am so glad they gave you a good response. I am sure before long you will work up the courage to do that face on photo, but it's one step at a time, and you are doing so great, well done. Caleigh has loved drawing that picture, she traced it first  but is now perfecting copying it. She wants to know if you have any more :D I told you she's a huge Sailor Moon fan :) Zelma - have a wonderful time in Sydney, can't wait to hear that you have won the competition. If for some ridiculous reason you don't win, well they are just blind, and you are a winner to all of us!! Endthereign - I don't think I have said hi before, so hello and :welcome2: Wow that is awesome that you and your hubby went for a three mile walk so early in the morning. I could never even drag myself out of bed at that time, and definitely wouldn't get up to go walking  Good on you for being able to do it and enjoying it. Rkrs - how are things with you, are you still dancing :D Nancy - they were some pretty fabulous NSVs, I bet you were feeling pretty great by the time you got home. Now if only we could bottle those wonderful feelings of achievement and pride and keep them for our down times we would never go off track on our diets :D Brenda - how cool is that that your FIL is a singer and song writer! Are you going to get him to teach you to play the guitar after you have bought it? I used to have a guitar when I was 13, I managed to play Wooden Heart and King of the Road on it before I lost interest and took up the Cornet in the school band! Missy - enjoyed our chat last night, hope to catch you again. Crock - where are you, haven't seen you in a while, are you ok? To everybody else I didn't mention, hope you are all keeping well and on track, and if you aren't, then remember that tomorrow is another day :D Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
wow Ammi did you lose 6 pounds this week? thjat is wonderful i was looking at your ticker
|
Hello Chickies
I'm just checking in quick. My scale has been nice to me and I'm down to 230 lbs. Yay! That means that my plateau is over and I'm going to start shrinking again--hopefully. ;) Congrats on the -6 Ammi and Congrats on making the semi-finals Zelma. :carrot: Those are the two things that I remember off the top of my head. I'll come back later to make more personals--right now the bf and the laundry is calling me. :( Have a great day ladies. Vicki |
HOLY GUACAMOLE BATMAN! AMMI you're down ANOTHER 6 pounds!? You totally rock, girl! On the SB thing, that's where I started but I can't say that I'm really doing it now because I don't stick strickly to the rules. It did teach me that there are things that really destroy me and kick my appitite into 'ConSume-the-Universe' mode. Bread, pasta, anything with refined sugar/flour in it. When I start on those, I can't stop! It's hard when my housemate refuses to stop bringing home bagels, etc., because it's so easy to convince myself that "Just this one won't hurt" or "I'll just deal with the cravings tomorrow - I can handle it." Yeah, right. I'd like to get on the Fat Flush, but for now I have to settle for just incorporating some things into my diet, like taking flaxseed oil (for Omega 3 & 6 & GLA which is good for burning stored fat and keeping girly hormones balanced) and drinking water with a splash of pure cranberry juice or lemon juice (which helps flush impurities from the liver & kidneys and helps removes excess liquid stored in other tissues.) I was hoping to really do the whole program while I was home this past 2 weeks, but between being deathly ill the first week and dealing with the Fair (no sleep, bad food) the second week, I just didn't do what I should have.
SHARON/VooDoo, There are plenty of grown men who weigh what you do who still ride. Why do people think that a 250 woman weighs more than a 250 pound man on horse's back? Gabe is 16 hands and he's pure power. If I was a man in armour he'd still be able to carry me, so why not now? A friend of mine & I were discussing just yesterday our preferences in horse types. She's tiny and very athletic and a super rider. She prefers Arabians and little horses that zip & spin on a dime. I go for the powerhouse types with oodles of muscle and bone... like my friesian boy. He's sucha hunk. Maybe I should still set that as a goal tho - to ride him when I hit 250. Boy THAT should put a fire under my wide hinny! It would also be a lower weight than I was when I got married. ZELMA, my fingers are crossed for you, where ever you are. NIGHTKATT, FANTASTIC on Just Saying "NO" to chocolate. I had developed that bad habit lately of indulging in it if I bought it at the Natural Foods store and it had extra calcium, etc. But it's still Chocolate, made with sugar, and for me that's like shooting myself in the foot. Keep up the great efforts & keep drinking that water. Sounds like an NSV to me!! Wow, VICKI, 230 pounds! It still sounds a world away to me sometimes, but you've shown me that it can be done, and I want it too! CONGRATULATIONS on breaking that plateau and heading on down towards One-derland. I hope to meet you there some day, but for now you're ssssssmokin' me! WYLLENN - The August Exercise Thread - I'm with ya! I'm still just SO impressed with how wonderful you continue to do every single month!! LADIES, the scale mercifully returned to my Pre-Fair weight this morning, 277, so I don't have to change my ticker back up ( I HATE that!) Now it's onward and downward. So far today is a "10" foodwise, so I'll just keep it that way! I'm back on the truck any second now - when ever the phone rings with a load offer. I still have clothes in the washer and some things to cook up to eat while I'm on the road, so I hope it doesn't ring TOO soon. I'm as mentally prepared as I can be, I guess. Now I just need to stick to my exercise, eating & studying and come home ready to ride. Yes. I'm ready. I just hope I have time to stop back here and visit, because it makes such a difference for me in how focused I am. Well, C-YA  |
Hi all. This weekend I wanted to go hiking but the heat persuaded me against it. I did go to the gym though and got in a good workout. I have eating very well but my workouts have been slacking. The month of August will not be a month of slack for me, despite the heat.
I also happened to measure my waist this morning and I'm in the 30s. My waist is 39 inches which is down 17 inches total from my highest waist measurement of 56. Now if only the scale would move but TOM is winding down and I expect a couple lbs to disappear. |
 What a time I've been having! Well ladies so sorry to have missed so many threads and so much of your lives! I have been very busy, stressed, not doing so well. I'm much better now Thank God. Last I spoke to you all I was packing for my move to our new house. Well, the day we were supposed to go and sign papers, we found out it didn't pass the appraisal so that means the owners/sellers would have to lower the pice another $20,000 for us to get it. Of coarse they said no so, here were are having all our stuff packed, at the end of our 30 day notice to our lad lady about moving from this rental with no place to go. In addition to that, I was told that some spots on my tongue were either Cancer or a yeast infection caused by a strong dose of antibiotics. I would know depending on how it reacts to the medication I was given. And one more little thing happening was my darling husband allowed his drug newphew fresh from prison and on meth to move in even though I pleaded with him not to. So. I was a bit stressed. I praise God for clearing everything up. My tongue is responding nicely to the medication!!!!:D no cancer! My husband's newphew had to be put back on the bus to home because he couldn't pass the background check and drug checks (a couple of things my husband told him he would have to pass to live with us) and the landlady extended our stay here. LOL Everything usually works out weather I worry or not. I wish I would learn to stay calm:dizzy:
I will try to do a few personals please don't feel shafted if I forget to mention you this time by name. Still love you all! Sharon: Love the hair, so sorry about your ankle Ammi: another 6 pounds you tried to sneak by us! You are doing so well sweetie! I am so proud of you. I love the pics you put on here. You are a doll. Great before and after diff. Kayley: love the pics and what a difference in before and after. Congrats on your promotion! Brenda: beautiful flowers Newsnerd, Sugarkube, melperimeter, Nightkatt, Julliette: Huge hugs and welcome to you all Val: You will do well. I know we can do this! Here's a hand to you and you give one back to me on getting back on track here. Congrats on doing so well with Gabe. Mitzi: Great NSV on getting out of the Pool Patty: HI and sorry you are having sinus trouble. Hugs Esmaraude: Welcome back and Wow on the before and after photos. YOu look amazing. Zelma: fingers, toes and legs crossed for you to be our Queen. Nancy: Great NSV! Wyllenn: Hi, one of these days I will join the exercise thread and actually meet my goal! Viki: Yea to you on getting to 230! Hugs Miss you: Crock, Luann, Suemarie, Juliecee, Jillybean, Brandnewme, Everyone I didn't mention big hugs to you all Blessings, Dogpal/ Annie |
Sharon--:)
Another quick post--your pics--you look good as a redhead, looking at your ankle makes me wince because I'm sure that it hurts :( and your boys--I just want to gobble them up they're so precious. Okay--gotta go again. I literally only have minutes. :p TTFN Vicki |
DOGPAL! I've missed you! So sorry to hear of all those trials, but so glad they've mostly worked out. I hope the seller sees the light and drops the price after all.
... Now, off to finish the laundry & cooking... and I suppose I SHOULD get dressed since it's quarter past noon. <BG> |
i am so happy it isnt cancer dogpal that would be horrid! yes Ammi tried to sneak in her weight loo like we woundnt notice ..not a chance!

Brenda – Your garden is AMAZING. I love gardens and have always wanted to like gardening, but haven’t gotten there yet. I have mostly been in apartments without a place to garden, so haven’t had much opportunity.
Sharon – OMG your foot looks awful. I am so sorry to hear that Steve wasn’t as helpful as he could have been. I like your hair too. My BF has been telling me that I should start coloring mine because I am starting to see grey. He actually wants me to go blond, which I think would be too weird on me. Ammi – You are my hero! Another 6 pounds – I am just blown away. Annie – On no! It sounds like things have been very tough for you. I am glad they are calming down now and that it was only an infection. Hopefully the issues with the house will work out, or if not you will find something even better! Nelie – That is great that you are losing inches even if the scale is not cooperating. I also took my measurements for the month on Sunday and I had almost no changes. The weird thing was I was down half an inch on my neck of all places. Strange. Vicki – Congratulations on breaking that plateau. Valerie – I am so glad that your scale was merciful. Sorry to hear that you need to go right back out on the road again. Angie – I am definitely more tired during my TOM. I also notice I can’t lift as much during that time. I just try to do as much as I can without hurting anything with the knowledge that it will pass soon. Karen – Thanks for posting your pics – it is always so inspiring. You have made amazing progress. Nightkatt – Have you seen a doctor about your extended TOM? I would recommend getting a check up if it continues. I was having excessive bleeding problems and found out I had a large fibroid (growth in the uterus), which I recently had a procedure to remove. Ack! There were so many more people I wanted to get back to, but my lunchtime is over and my boss is actually here this week (all the way from Sydney) so I need to get back to it. |
Hello ladies...I hope everyone is doing well.
Ammi Congrats on the extra 6 pounds gone that is so great. dogpal I am also very happy that it isn't cancer as well. I am praying that everything works out with the seller also. Everyone seems to be doing so well and having great progress. I am feeling good today and hopefully my scale will move for me on Sunday. Well I better start dancing and moving around more:) |
Ammi yes my headaches are much better now thank you very much!
|
Thanks to everyone for the comments and support!!!
I'd been feeling pretty down about stuff the other day but then Jeff pulled out that "before" pic. . . putting the two side-by-side and comparing them reminded me that I've actually accomplished something and there's no reason for me to give up like I have. That was what motivated me to come back here again. I just posted several more pictures, mostly the typical weird angles I've been doing lately. I did include one from about 10 years ago which is only about 50 pounds away from where I'm at now. Despite the fact that I'm heavier, I actually think I look better now than I did back then, LOL!!!! ;) Anyway, just checking in. I did pretty good while I was out and about yesterday but succumbed to pancakes at a restaurant. Fortunately, I only ate half my portion of them. :D |
Hi Ladies - Well I'm back posting again....last week I felt I was OP and didn't lose a thing, so I got quite depressed about it and didn't bothing posted anything much the last week. But, it looks like a have a loss - nothing major though - coming to me tomorrow, so, I guess I can't complain! There's NO WAY I could do personals now, lol, I wouldn't know where to start! I'm really wanted to up my exercise - but in a way that isn't gonna burn me out - so I can see some inch loss (waist hips thighs waist hips thighs - LOL!). But I don't know what I could be doing...whatever it is it has to be at home...I never seem to stick with a strength training workout, but I think to see inches drop I will need to get on that. I'm still trying to get my walking in when I can....I walked up the INSANE hill here again, lol, all just cause I read to wrong bus schedule, lol!! I was heading to meet DH at a thift store - we needed a "new" TV and something to hold all our media stuff - well we got a 20" TV, and a sm. AND lg. coffee table that are stacked to make a "entertainment center" of sorts - it looks great, and we got ALL 3 things for $30!!! Woo Hoo!! :cb: My Dad's b-day (60!) was the 29th - I called him (different city) and told him I was sending his gift off this week (couldn't buy it early), and then my Grandma's b-day (88!) was the 30th, lol, so I gave her a call as well, she was very happy to hear from me, and even more happy to hear I was trying to make it there for XMAS!! :) I'm giving my Dad a brown chicken egg that has been hollowed out and has a handcarved portrait of Marilyn Monroe on it!! It's awesome, I bought it from the very talented artist at the Sunday Market...maybe I will post a pic later! The reason this is a AWESOME gift for him is cause he collects - and displays - diecast cars and Fabrege Eggs...well he has a Marilyn car, and since his collections are too $$$ to buy the last long while I thought a meld of the 2 - in a unique way - would be cool. :) I love it, lol. I've giving my Grandma a framed picture of a rose that I took, cause I know she appreciates homemade things - and her name is Rose, so it's perfect! Hopefully I can send off the gifts today or tomorrow. Well...I think I've yapped wayyyyyy too much already, lol. The main message here is: I'm back! :) And, yes, I now know when I get a bad weigh-in to not abandon the 300+ board, but to come for support. So...CONGRATS to all the "losers", and  to those who need it!!
Stay OP chickies!! Melissa |
Hi Everyone!
Okay there's just SO many people in here and hard to remember who said what, etc. but it's really nice keeping up with everyone and what is going on here. Everyone here is doing really well and trying really hard!! Big hugs for everyone  Me I'm having a down day again, I'm on the roller coaster of emotion I guess. I thought it was gone a couple of days ago when TOM left me but nah, today it's back. It is still only noon here so maybe I'll perk up as the day goes on! !! think positive! :D My hubby will be back next Monday and isn't scheduled to go away again until November so I am SO happy about that. The count down is on for Monday, I'll be looking forward to that. I miss him like crazy. I am an independent person most times but I still hate it when he is gone. My scale jumped UP 2 pounds since yesterday due to no fault of my eating habits. I have another message posted elsewhere and through people's responses I think it is a lack of 'bathroom time' if ya know what I mean. That, and lack of sleep this last week. So, my mind is now in the process of accepting that it will come back off and I'll stop beating myself about it. Otherwise, my life is great. I have a great husband, great kitties, and no money problems. AMMI - congrats on your latest 6 pounds! you are just rockin along!! and to answer your question re the birth control pills - no! we're not trying to have children. I am now 37 and when I went to get a renewal on my pills early last year they tested my blood pressure which was at the time 150/95 or something nuts so they told me that because of that, they could NOT give me any more BCP's. I was sad at the time because no I do not desire to get pregnant! I considered getting an IUD but then someone told me some horror stories about those. They said I can not have any kind of birth control with hormones. I am in a high risk category for stroke, blood clots, etc. because of the age. Happily though, since going on my diet my blood pressure as of last week went down to 120/75 which is AMAZING. It had been high for the last year, and just 4 weeks of dieting has brought it back to normal. My doc was super surprised and really pleased about that. |
Hi guys!
Well you have been a buncha busy chatters today huh? I'm back to work today. EW. Feels like I never left *L* Ammi ~ SWEET! Another 6?? WOW!! SugarKube ~ Thats awesome that you had such a super weigh in too! You girls are rockin'!!! Sharon ~ Not your hair silly :) I love red hair :D Sorry to hear you had a bad day with your ankle Annie ~ Happy to hear from you!! So sorry though that you have had a rough time of it all though. Melissa ~ Any luck over the weekend? Nancy ~ You can garden right in your apt as long as you have light. Do you have a balcony? Don't let apt. living stop you from enjoying such a wonderful thing. Does your neighborhood have any community gardens? Ours has one that the community plants, weeds, etc for everyone to enjoy. They can be beautiful. They even have some veggies in them *L* Valerie ~ Fat Flush huh? This is a new one for me. Now I have to search the internet... man, I'll not get anything done tonight *L* It sounds like something that I would be interested in. Vickie ~ Congrats on making it through your plateau. Look out world, here she comes! ok... i have to get some stuff done. I'll be around later. Have a great night everyone :) Brenda  |
Hi All,
Yes  I did lose another 6 lbs. I appreciate everybody's kind words about it, I have to admit that it was a shock, but a very pleasant one :D Vicki - that is excellent news that you have broken your plateau now. I can't wait til I am at 230 lbs. You must feel and look like a new person after losing so much weight :bravo: Valerie - I can just hear Robin's voice when you say things like Holy Guacamole Batman  Very funny and thanks for your enthusiasm. I like that you have learned what you can eat and what you can't using the SB diet, to be able to diet without strictly following that plan is wonderful. It should come in very handy when you have weeks like the last couple when you have been either busy or unwell. Glad to hear you didn't need to put your ticker up any, and I hope that while you are on the road again you manage to stay on track. I say :bravo: to you for even trying when you are away, I know it must be so difficult, but you CAN do it :D Nelie - WOW a 39 inch waist, that is awesome, you are doing so fantastically. I really look forward to when my waist is in the 30s :D Annie - so lovely to see you post and update people on your news. I am so relieved that you only have a yeast infection and not cancer  You told Valerie that she can lose the weight and I am telling you you CAN do it too, you will finish the meds, you will get your housing sorted and you will be able to commit to your diet and exercise 100%. Come on girl that goal of 450 lbs is just around the corner!! Patti - thanks so much for the e-card, I really appreciated it  So glad to hear your headaches have gone now. You can get back on track with the exercise now :D Nancy - aww thanks that was a sweet thing to say, I haven't been a hero to anybody before  You mentioned how you hadn't lost any more inches when you last measured yourself. Well except on your neck. I forgot to measure my neck. But get this, in nearly 4 months I haven't lost ANYTHING off my arms, and only lost an inch off each thigh. Yet my best inch loss is my hips, I have lost 13 inches from there. Funny that I can lose a lot from one place but so little off my arms and legs :dizzy: Rkrs - you keep on moving and dancing and I am sure the scales will be showing a loss for you on Sunday :goodluck: Karen - Big hugs to Jeff for helping you remember just how far you have come with your weight loss. I am glad that seeing those photos inspired you to come back here  I loved your photos, you look great in that hat, I wish I could wear hats. Loved the photo of you and your mum too :D Well done on only eating half your portion of pancakes, sometimes it's harder to leave some food than it is to not have it in the first place, so you did well! Missy - so glad to see you posting and you are right, when you don't see a loss that's the time that you need to come here most. Good luck tomorrow when you WI, can't wait to come here and see what you lost  Angie - that is fantastic that just after 4 weeks of dieting your bp is at a normal range. If it stays that way do you think they would put you back on the pill? My bp was high 5 years ago and that's why I was told I couldn't go on the pill, that's why I got that Implanon rod in my arm. It wouldn't be good for you though because like with most birth control it's a hormone based thing. I don't blame you for not going for a coil. My hubby's ex had a coil fitted and got pregnant!! So even forgetting the horror stories of things that can go wrong, pregnancy is pretty bad when you don't want it!! I am sorry you are feeling down, it is probably all linked to seeing that weight gain even though it's no way it's fat, and needing a hug from you hubby. He will be home soon and I bet you will be feeling so much better then  Brenda - you make gardening sound so easy, I wish I was better at it. Even when I try to have house plants the things get infested with either green fly, or just loads of little midgy flies are always around the thing. It drives me nuts. I love flowers but I guess I should stick to artificial ones :dizzy: Ok well I guess I better make a move, to everybody I haven't mentioned and :grouphug: to everybody :D Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
Brenda - I decided to not go last Sunday...I'm gonna go next week though - I hope! - if not the one after (due to $) since DH got his schedule changed so he can come with me for company. But I will be trying to get things together....although it looked REALLY bare when I checked it out yesterday. If I decide not too go then I might mat and frame my pictures and find someplace else to sell them. :) A friend of my MIL sells his someplace else, and at good price, too, so I might go there...since I was already suggested to go there with him. Well, TY for asking. :) I'll keep ya posted! ;)
|
Ammi - TY for the support! I will post tomorrow....good or bad!
|
Hello all!
Just have to tell you I bought a bike today! Yea! I found it on Craigslist for $45! It's a vintage Schwinn single speed (think Pee Wee Herman style) with a basket on the front. I love it! I have to replace the tires and it needs a little TLC. I rode it today and man was it fun! I haven't ridden a bike in probably 20 years. Ammi — Thanks and the whole MIL thing is going about as expected! :dizzy: But, she only has 18 days left (gulp). Nelie — Hang in there! I think the heat has forced a lot of us to change our exercise routines. It's dangerous out there. |
BRENDA, The Fat Flush Plan is by An Louise Gittleman and is aimed somewhat more at women. It talks about how our bodies work and explains WHY we have things like water weight gain and how to deal with it. It's a little intense, but like any plan, if you can't or don't want to do it hard core, there are still elements that you can incorporate into daily life. I've even been reading it out load to my DH while he was driving because there are so many "A-ha!" moments with all the info. He's been enthusiastic about trying some of it too, which is very supportive. I find that it's not just a guide to weight loss, but to a healthier body overall, especially in regards to the liver - one of my favorite organs as I continue to learn how hard it works, how much it does for me, and of course, replacements are REALLY hard to come by!
I actually coaxed the scale down as low as 276 this morning, but that's not an official weight, just a giggle booster. We're off tonight to pick up a load in the a.m. over in Indiana, then (since a break from the heat would be so nice) we're heading down to Texas. Impossible to believe it could be any worse there than it is here. Just filling water buckets and scooping out a little grain for the horses tonight had the sweat running off me. O.K. This is my final bye-bye as I head out into the wild blue yonder. Where ever I go this trip, I hope I leave a few ounces or a pound behind, and I'll be coming home closer to my official "Get-On-My-Horse" weight. Lances up - CHAAAAAAARGE!! |
Ammi & Sharon - I met my hunny thru a site online that my mum badgered me to join after I cancelled my second engagement (I just wouldnt set the wedding date lol) .. he had recently separated from his wife and she had gone back to the US .. we talked online HEAPS .. and then the first time we went to a group event and met we said Hi and Bye and thats it rofl .. only when we both got home we got back online and talked up a storm .. when I asked him why he didnt come over and talk to me he said he knew I was Trouble rofl .. but we met up at a few other group events ... and then he came around on December 21 for the first home made meal at my place ... and we have been together since lol... when we were together 6 months we bought a gift shop together (Katts Gifts) and lived above the shop ... we only just sold the shop a couple of months ago after 4 years as we wanted a bit more freedom, but the only job he could get in the field he was trained in was in the city which is about 1.5 hours away .. as we have a house over there we rent out he couldnt stay there . so instead he stays at his mums thru the week and then comes home on the weekend .. but we talk to each other EVERY night .. and multi times through the day ... but it is hard when we have pretty much been together 24 hours a day 7 days a week (apart from the 2 months I was overseas in 2004) to only seeing each other on the weekends ... but we are hoping its only going to be temporary as he is still looking for work over this side of the island so he can live here instead lol ..
AMMI - WTG on your weight loss this week hun ... excellent work! VICKI - WTG on your weight loss too!! Wow ... all this fat flyin thru the air ... hopefully it wont be comin in my direction rofl ... VALERIE - I agree with you on the horse riding .. we have 7 horses and 3 of them were powerhouses lol .. could have taken a few rugby guys at a time on any one of them .. for me getting back on a horse would be facing a lot of fear .. I got back on the first few broken bones .. but after a particularly bad accident I just didnt get back on .. still love them tho :) Great goal you have tho! And I still think of chocolate as a really good friend lol .. just not allowed to visit for a while .. will have to think of keeping in touch by phone or something rofl .. NELIE - WTG on your size loss!! What a great achievement!! Keep up the great work .. wow ... just in awe! ANNIE - Hiya and thank you for the welcome :) Glad to hear everything worked out ok in the end .. even tho you didnt get your new house :) To those enquiring about whether I go to the Doc for my TOM probs .. Nope . .. I dont go to doctors full stop .. I have gone before about it and after numerous tests they never were able to find anything. I had complications after I had my daughter and then when I was given the injection I was almost hospitalised due to a negative reaction to it .. since then its been all over .. I do remember the doctors saying that if I lost weight etc etc .. it could help try to control it ... as being obese it can affect the routine of it .. sooo .. I will just wait a while and see if my weight loss will help with it for now .. dont like doctors lol .. dont like medication either rofl ... so I dont have either. 2F4U - Glad to see your headaches are better .. Im lucky my sinuses dont give me any problems for sure :) ESMARAUDE - Great to see you motivated again .. hun you definitely have done well so far! Ooopsie on the pancakes .. but like you said .. it wasnt a full portion lol .. MELISSA - WTG about getting back on the wagon as it were .. and Im sure your dad and grandmother will love their gifts .. the egg sounds wonderful! WTG on your weight loss so far too! ABBEY - Great news on your hubby coming home, Im sure that you are getting really excited about his return - could also explain why you arent sleeping as well ... Great news about your blood pressure too!! Im sure that is another weight off your mind :) WTG BRENDA - Hiya hun ... did I forget to mention lovely flowers?? I cant remember .. just looked at your pics again and think wow .. I have such a black thumb when it comes to anything other than vegetables .. seem to be able to grow them ok lol .. Fat Flush sounds interesting to me too lol .. let me know what you find out lol .. NEWSNERD - Great about your bike .. hopefully you can get someone to take a piccy of you on it for us :) Great work! Well this morning I got on the scales and while my weight hasnt really moved I was really pleased to see my fat percentage was down FIVE!!! yup .. 5% over the weekend ... hopefully this will continue. I have got 2 750ml bottles which had water in and I get through almost the full 2 each day so Im almost having the 2l a day now ... definitely fills me up. I was naughty this morning and didnt have breakfast, but I really wasnt hungry, not even for the peanut soy bar which I was supposed to have for my breakfast with yoghurt. But I had my salad and ham sandwiches for lunch and more water so am feeling a little bloated lol .. but its a few hours til dinner .. Im supposed to have an orange for afternoon tea .. but I just cant get all this food in lol .. I know Im big but that doesnt mean I eat lots ... having said that ... my hunny pointed out something to me .. although I cant eat much regular food in one sitting I seem to have no prob getting through 3 Big Macs lol .. hopefully by the time I allow myself to go back to somewhere like that again I will only be able to fit in one burger and the OJ (I dont eat the chips). Feeling better today ... even got the energy to be able to go back onto the flyer .. back down to 5 minutes .. but it only took me a couple of days to go up a minute each time, so will get back up there by the weekend I think. Have a great day all! Keep cool for those that are still having hot hot hot weather :) |
Sizzlin August Exercise!
I am reposting as this was on the tag end of the last thread. I just wanted to tell all the newbies and remind all the oldbies (oldbies?) that we have a very active exercise thread here! (The Sizzlin Hot August Exercise Thread, which will be stickied when the month begins).
It's not a competition, but we all set exercise goals in terms of number of minutes and then report back to the group. In turn as a group we track the number of minutes we exercise each month. The accountability is great, as is watching those group totals rise. We are working on a goal of exercising for 100,000 minutes! Think about it!! That's over 1666 HOURS of exercise, all being done by women who have weighed or weighed 300 pounds! What's more, I think we will make that goal this month! Come and be a part of it!!!! You can set goals for any exercise you like (I count my ab and back exercises, as well as my walking and weight lifting) and you can set small goals too (maybe best to start there!). Most of all, its great for our bodies, and it's fun!!! (I never thought I'd say that). I'd like to put in a special call for some of our missing members who were a part of it in the past but drifted away... please join us again!! |
Ammi -- 6 pounds! Wowsa! But no ticker change???
Annie -- sounds like an awful week. Any chance on working things with the house? Tho remember, if it didn't pass an appraisal, perhaps it wasn't worth it and is not meant to be... Val -- thanks for your sweet words about my movin and shakin! Misti -- Awesome NSV about the pool (yes I am waaaaay behind!) As for me, I had ice cream tonight. Full fat, no holds barred, buttery creamy delicious ice cream. I ordered a single scoop but with 2 flavors, but dummy me, that turned out to be a double. I ate most of it and enjoyed every single fat-filled calorie-laden bite of it. I have been craving ice cream for a while and it is the first time all summer I have indulged in the real thing! (hmmm... and probably the last) Maybe this will be part of a bigger slip, leading to gaining it all back, I don't know. But I know I have to learn how to incorporate these kinds of indulgences from time to time. Tho, next time I will be SURE I order the kiddie cone! :) Oh, and the brownies my coworker is bringing tomorrow? Now I am NOT going to have one. I will come back here and report that! I think I need the accountability! |
hi all. i am officially back on the wagon. i started weight watchers again today. i am determined to win this battle. really, i know that i need to be here. every day. because thats what keeps me on track. so i will more diligently make an effort to pop in every day. when i dont come here im less accountable to myself. so, im back :)
i bought a new car on saturday. my car was totalled (i wasnt in the car) back in May, so the insurance finally decided to total it. i got a Saturn Vue. its the saturn SUV. i love it. its bright blue and SO cute!! |
DARN IT! I just typed up ALL THE PERSONALS and my computer locked up. So I will have to leave the personals to tomorrow. I promised myself I'd get to bed after I had my steamed FF milk with SF almond roca syrup flavoring. YUM!
That being said, you girls are doing awesome! For those that have seen the scale move, CONGRATS!!! For those that are at a standstill, keep on keeping on and you'll see results!!!!! As for me, I did not do very well today. I ate everything perfectly food wise BUT I unintentionally skipped a meal. I was working against a deadline that turned out to be a marathon workathon. Problem with it is I seem to only lose weight when I am eating enough. Isn't it strange that someone over 300 pounds doesn't eat enough? But I have had the best success of my life ever losing weight with SBD and am down 10 pounds and FEEL so, so great. And the only times I feel that great or am that successful is when I eat six times a day. I have a theory that I have been so heavy, despite not eating much as a teenager, BECAUSE I didn't eat enough. And then the poor food choices, coupled with a plethora of other issues put me where I am today. It's a theory still in progress. Anyway, I couldn't resist and snuck on the scale and it still showed a weight loss (though not official till weigh-in obviously). But checking on my weight once a day seems to keep me prepared for what I'm doing right and wrong. Oh, one other question: what scales do you girls use that are over 330? I have a scale that is fine BUT every time I get on the scale, it weighs me differently. I usually have to get on three times and take the weight that is most often on there. Does anyone else have this happen to them? Alrighty, I was going to say something else but I forgot what it was. So off to bed I go!! Nighty-night, ladies! |
Sugar .. I (oops my hunny) just bought me a set of Jenny Craig scales ... they are so much better than the other ones I had, and while I was a little depressed to see that my old ones were a lot lower than what I was really lol .. at least now I know Im on track again :) The ones I got are only for 150kg and under .. so I was just on borderline lol .. but happy to have them now :)
Keep up the great work all .. I did good today .. got on the flyer for THREE songs!! Usually I can only last 5 min but I got so into the rhythm of the music that I made it to 10 without even thinking about it!! Going to do that again tomorrow a couple of times . then after I got that done I did a big spring clean in the lounge and kitchen area and unpacked a bunch more boxes too . wow ... feeling lots better than yesterday. |
sugarkube - I have a "Taylor Weight Management Scale"; it goes to 400lbs! I got it at London Drugs for $70. It's digital, good on batteries, and very consistant. :)
|
Annie I'm so glad that you are ok, awful about the house though. It's a shame that your nephew staying didn't work out too, some things just aren't meant to be, though I hope something good happens with the house.xxx
I weighed-in today, looks like I lost the two I gained after the fall and another three pounds!! though not official til Saturday, I will see then. I worked out why my ankle was hurting more, I'd been taking extra-strength painkillers for a migraine and of course they stop ALL PAIN!! doh! Nightkatt, lots of ladies here met their guys online, I didn't but it seems to work for a lot of people. Sorry your guy has to work away from you but at least you know some day you will be permanently togetherxxx Newsnerd, great on the bike, it sounds really cute. I can't ride but use an exercise bike, my balance is terrible!xxx Wyllen, hope the icecream was good, it really gets me craving it when it's hot outside. I have fruit sorbet instead sometimes, though it's fat vs sugar.xxx Luan, great to see you back and OP, w/w is REALLY agreeing with Ammi, so you know it can work for you too!!!!xxx Valerie I'm sure once Gabe is broken in he could carry you at this weight, but of course a few pounds less is always good. xxxAs long as my ankle holds up I will be riding at the end of the month, I really want to canter this time, even if I'm not up to jumping. It's such a shame there's no decent riding stables near us or I'd go at least once a week; it's about £20 an hour here for lessons, $30-$35, which is a lot! Well I have to go, I had an NSV, Steve said last night he could tell I was losing weight, there was less of me, he said 'all over' my body was smaller. That made me smile and be more determined to be OP 100%. xxsharon |
Abbeycat - That is great news about your blood pressure going down! It is always good to hear positive health information. Keep up the goo work.
Newsnerd - Wow I recall how fun bike riding was! I am so happy for you. My entire family has bikes and when we take the kids to the park I usually just sit and watch them ride. I am so excite for you. Maybe one day I will be able to enjoy bike rides again :) NoLifeWithoutHorses - you are doing so good and I am sure your scale will show the change when you get back! Nightkatt - Great job on your fat % going down. I really need to get me a great scale like the one you have. I have a WW scale that I love. Maybe once I shed 100 pounds I may buy me a better scale as a gift to myself. Wyllenn- I finally joined the exercise thread. I hope I can count my dancing as exercise :) I think it will be good for me and I have set a very small goal this month since it is my first month. I am looking forward to the challenge I have given myself. I think with my increased dancing I will finally make it to the 200's. Also I am happy you enjoyed your ice cream. I think you will be fine. You have lost almost 100 pounds and seem to be doing great. I am sending you support against the brownies:) Princess Puffy pants – Congrats on the new car. I think the Saturn Due is a nice SUV. I drive a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer myself and I am still getting used to parking.. I am such a bad driver. I have never had a accident but I honestly know people laugh when they see me driving this big SUV which I can’t park. It was my husbands ideal to but it. While he drives a new ford mustang GT. convertible. Everyone else who I forgot to mention please have a great day and I am wishing all good vibes:) Ok now ladies I think this may be the week where I finally make it to the two’s. I have gotten on the scales and it is going down but I am waiting until my weigh in date ...I am keeping my fingers crossed. I and dancing around the house and about to start some major studying. My semester starts in less than three weeks and we have so much to read before the start of classes this semester. It is hard to believe I will be a RN in may. I have worked so long and so hard! So everyone have a great day and stay cool! |
rkrs -- YES! Dancing COUNTS as exercise! I'm so happy you joined the exercise thread. The accountability has REALLY helped me. I will be sure to report back that I did NOT eat a brownie today!
Sharon-- congrats on the loss and comments from hubby. Those really do make a difference! |
Hey everyone,
Is anyone doing the forum wide weigh in....I weighed in this morning and hope to challenge myself...Its going to be a rough 2 weeks I know I am going to go to the smokey mountains in 2 weeks and I love to see new things (never been there) but I absolutely hate going out to eat....had a couple of horrific encounters...but my family shouldn't suffer. I worry during the whole meal and I never really enjoy myself. anyway I am rambling... I just got off work... I am a night shifter and was curious if anyone was doing the august challenge......I hope everyone has a nice day...:comp: Rene |
thanks for the welcome back all!
sharon - yeah i see that WW is finally working for Ammi - shes my inspiration :) |
PrincessPuffyPants - Welcome back on board and hope you have as much great support as you need ... on here its never in short supply. Its always great to have an inspiration to help you achieve your goal :)
Sharon - WTG on your "unofficial" loss ... its always a plus to know that by the weigh day you wont be going up at least ... esp when you are a little more restricted in exercise with your ankle .. rkrs - WTG on the way your scales are going ... seems a way away for me yet but I have that in mind by the end of August :) Will watch out for your big 200 moment :) Wyellen - I am going to join the exercise thread as well .. just starting off slow to start with .. but hoping to improve that next month and the month after etc .. will get over there and sign up in a mo :) Rene - Im doing the weigh in too :) Good luck to you .. and everyone else that is joining in :) Huggies and HIII to everyone else .. I have only had 3 hours sleep .. so might try to get in another couple of hours lol .. |

Hi Ladies....All I have to say is my fighting spirit is 99% SQUASHED!! :( I was the same again today!!! I don't get it...2 days ago it showed a loss...I haven't gone over my calories, and I've gotten in some activity....no loss for 2 weeks now?!?!! How can I be stalling after only -20lbs?!?! The 1% of my spirit that still gives a hoot is going to drop calories from 2000 to 1850-1900 now, and see what happens....also adding a VERY SMALL amount of stength exercises (5-10 minutes a day) to try to get my body burning again. (If I say I'm going to do a full-body workout 3-4x a week I know it's too much on me and I'll end up quitting, so...baby steps!) So, when I jumped on the scale and STILL saw 335 I had a little breakdown....but DH suggested a walk to calm myself (I see what he's trying to do...and I do appreciate it) so we are going to walk my neighbours Shih Tzu puppies in a few minutes - so cute!! :) Oh, i guess before I get TOO off track I should explain - to anyone I guess - why no loss was SUCH a big deal to me....my family hasn't seen me (different city) since last XMAS...and I'm going back to visit them on Dec. 17 (or so...) and I want a WOW meeting....my whole family is big, but I told my parents every month that I was living with them that I was starting a "diet" or whatever...and I want to show them I CAN DO IT, and that I can take control of my eating and acitivty......but, side note: how can I go home when I can't lose? :( My goal is -40 MORE pounds by the time I leave....any advice?? Is the calorie drop the right thing? Is strength exercise the right thing for me? Is that what *should* get the scale moving again?? Like I said, I'm just so emotionally exhausted over my weight loss....or lack thereof. Thanks for listening to me whine. ;)
Stay OP chickies!! You can do it!! Melissa |
Melissa - you are going to need patience with your body. I would definitely take measurements and rely on those rather than the scale. I love the scale too but sometimes I don't think it loves me :) My recommendation is definitely up your workouts in some way. It may be weights or it may be different type of cardio activity. You may also look at what you are eating. Are you eating processed foods? Lots of sodium? Are you drinking lots of water? There are so many things that can affect the scale that it isn't really reliable from day to day.
|
Just in case you didn't see the announcement above, don't forget to weigh yourself today, August 1st. Write it down somewhere, not necessarily here and then at the end of the month weigh again and report your loss. It's a SITE-WIDE weigh-in. Prizes will be randomly awarded. Don't miss out. Let's see how much EVERYONE here can lose in a month!!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/announcement.php?f=124
|
Melissa - Hang in there! Like Nelie said, the scale is not always the best measurement of our progress. Sometimes, for seemingly no reason, it doesn't move how we would want. However, that isn't a reason to get defeated. It took a long time to get to the weight you are and it is going to take a long time to lose it. We may not like that fact, but it is the reality of healthy weight loss. Taking your measurements is great, also thinking about how different you are feeling with your energy levels and fitness. There are many measurements of success. It is so important not to base everything on just the scale.
If having a timed deadline of seeing your family is causing you pressure, then you might want to rethink you goals for that. Personally I find time goals to be destructive rather than helpful for this very reason. It will take the time it will take. As nice as it would be to wow your family, the most important thing is to get there in the long run. I have been having a rough time lately. Although I have started my exercise again fairly aggressively, my eating has been about 85% and I think it is contributing to the scale not moving. Although I am eating pretty much as I have been (staying under 2000) I am actually up from my ticker weight. It is really starting to get to me, and I am having trouble not getting depressed about it. So actually writing this was a good reminder to myself about the same thing. This is a long journey and it isn't always going to go smoothly or as we hope. |
