Heather - I think my hubby would like nothing more than to go on a spending spree to buy loads of fashion clothes, you know the ones, all with brand names. Unfortunately our budget doesn't run to that, so he has to make do with normal clothes, poor man
Crock - oh oh, I didn't hear correctly did I, you didn't just slate lovely Elliot?? Awwww poor Elliot, I am sure he can't have been that bad. I don't want him to go
Glad you didn't have to do the whole 10 pages on Torture, I guess it's best to write what you can and stop rather than waffle on to fill the rest of the pages.
Sorry to hear that little Austin is ill, I am sure his Nonnie will help make him feel better
Patti - no news huh? Well at least you are up and about, and were ready to work out on your treadmill. Hope you are having a good day.
Ammi~ on the Elliot subject,, I dont feel he was in his element last night. I am so pullin for Kathryn, due to being the only Female left. and I personally think she did better than Elliot.. but I think Kathryn and Elliot ,, one of them will be done tonight...That is just what I think,, I love Chris,, in a Vin Diesel sort of way..
Heather – The new wardrobe thing is one of the big reasons I am trying to hold onto my current job while I am losing weight because when I go to a public accounting firm I am going to need suits. Right now work is casual. Congrats to your hubby on losing those 50 pounds!
Valerie – Yeah, it is me with the BF money troubles. So far I have been adamant about not combining finances, but of course you can’t help but do so a little. We actually first moved in together because he lost his job. We were each paying the same amount for separate apartments and so I moved in and took over the rent until he got a job (which took 7 months). In a way, it wasn’t any extra for me because it was the same as I had been paying, but in some ways it set up a precedent. Now, even though we still have separate expenses there are certain choices we have made to cater to his stuff. Mainly this is that we had to get a bigger apartment to house all his computers and our electric bill is probably 3x that of normal people. So although not directly his expenses, I do end up paying more because we are together.
I think the big difference between him and me is that I went through a period of being BROKE. I know what it is like to wonder how you are going to feed yourself. In fact, that is when I decided to go back to school. I had what I call my Scarlet O’Hara moment – “As God as my witness, I shall never be this poor again!” It has been a long road, and I am not going to throw away what I have worked for because he can’t define the difference between need and want. In some ways I curse myself for having rescued him when he lost his job – if he had been forced to go through that – having to make the HARD choices (do I put this $10 in my gas tank to get to job interviews or do I buy groceries for the next week), maybe he wouldn’t have this problem now. Well, if I figure it all out I will definitely let you know.
Dogpal – That is so cool that you went around the Curves circuit twice! I find that the more I exercise the easier it gets and the more energy I have (as long as I get enough sleep!) I have also found that being positive works so much better than being negative. That rule of “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all” applies to ourselves too!
Sharon – I am glad that Aiden is ok, but that must have been SO frightening.
Crock/Ammi - I actually though Elliott did really well. It is such a shame he doesn't have the charisma of the others, but I think his voice is the best of the bunch.
Well I am off to another doctor this afternoon. I am really hoping this will be my last consultation, but we shall see. We are going over my MRI results to see if I qualify for a procedure that would cut off the blood flow to the fibroid and make it shrink (uterine artery embolization). This doctor has his own website, and I thought I would share just in case any of you are interested in what I am talking about: http://www.fibroiduae.com/
But first I am having lunch with an old co-worker whom I have been helping to hire a bookkeeping position at her current company. It is really hard for people who know nothing about accounting to hire accountants. Tip: if you ever decide to start your own business, go take an accounting course first. You might not do the accounting, but you need to understand what the people you hire are actually doing. If you don’t, it can be BIG trouble.
We are heading to a great Indian place that has a buffet, so I know I will end up eating too many calories today. That’s ok though – I have actually had several days under recently.
Katherine was really not up to snuff last night. There are banners all over town where I live and work rooting for her..since this is also her hometown. It's a pretty big deal for some people. Taylor...oh that man!
Valerie: Yes, Chutzpah..which is not the opposite of putz.
Chutzpah = Moxie, guts, balls, nerve
Putz = big stupid jerk = schmuck (never mind the literal definitions)
Oy Vey! = oh geez, oh my, or anything else along those lines
WI tonight....who nows what this one will bring. Yesterday, the trainer at the gym said it looked like I had lost weight since I had started there...so that's something. TOM is here with a vengeance...so I feel a little poopy..but I was in the gym this morning like a good girl!
Sharon....glad that Aiden is OK. Did the doctor say anything about sitting him in the bathroom with the doors shut and a hot bath running? Apparently the steam is supposed to help loosen it all up.
I'm off and running...have to get to the postoffice to mail Mother's Day cards.
Crock - well I will just have to bide my time til Friday night so I can see for myself how he does. Funny how different people have different views on how a person sounds. Just like the judges, one will say fantastic, while the other will say, are you deaf If it comes to Elliot and Katherine being in the bottom two, well you know who I want to stay
Nancy - phew, I am glad that you thought Elliot did good, I can't wait to see the show myself to see for myself. You are so right that he just doesn't have the personality that he might just need to take him all the way. The best voice there won't count for much if other people are more popular. Shame really coz I think he's great!!
I looked at that web site about the procedure you are hoping to have, it sure does sound like the best option for you, and you'll be home after 24 hours. Have you ever had an epidural before? I have had a few, so if you want to know more about them feel free to ask. I can PM you some details.
Julee - you said Katherine wasn't up to snuff, but what did you think of Elliot? Good or bad? As for Taylor, was your comment 'oh that man' one that means he was just brilliant, or just NOT, lol?
Good luck with your WI tonight, how do you think you will do?
First and foremost, Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Between the arm and the surgery and everything I was just not in a posting mood. I've tried to keep up and done a few posts with the old hens...but everything else has taken a back seat. Please forgive me if I do very few personals...I'm just too behind the times!
I see we've gained a few folks - - and lost a few folks I guess I hate when folks go away!
As for me...the arm is getting back to normal, very little pain but still some limited range of motion, which is WAY annoying! Surgery is like it never happened...except TOM is gone never to return! This is such a good thing! I lost a bit while convalessing, which is awsome given the fact that I was a P-I-G much of the time!
Zelma ~ Hun I hope you feel better soon!
Kaylee ~ Be PROUD of those grades lady!!!
Nancy ~ I have heard of that procedure and it sounds pretty good and a good option for you given what you've said about the size of the fibroid. I do hope you have as much luck with yours and I had with my surgery.
Julee ~ I've been trying to keep up on your bridesmaid problems...what a shame that things have been rough there. I had very small weddings, but they were still special and people just really should appreciate that fact! Not to worry - I'm sure you and your wedding will be absolutly beautiful!
Well that's it for me ladies - all talked out! Must run. to you all!!!
Sharon: So glad that Aiden is doing ok now. Hugs to you for all the stress it caused.
Ammi: In my humble opinion. LOL. I think Katherine was just okay. I really like her voice though. Elliot was for me the same as always. He is not my favorite singer but I love his sweet personality. Chris has the most amazing voice and Taylor is awesome. There is no body like him and he has so much fun with his dancing. He did really well. Mind you these are my opinions only.
Crock: Sorry that your sweet nephew is ill. Hope he will be better really soon. I'm sure you will do so well with the rest of your tests. Hugs.
Nancy: Thanks for the encouraging words. I am starting to agree with you about talking nicely to myself. After years of hearing not so nice things from my mom, I carried it on and it is so hard to break that habbit.
Lilion: Glad to see you back and feeling better.
Well, I have to go let my furbabies in the house now they are barking to come in. Take care everyone.
Dogpal
Lilion - glad you are feeling so good and up to posting here again. I keep forgetting you post on the old hens board too, I must remember to look there if you go missing again
Crock - I guess you will have the last laugh if Elliot does go, but don't worry, I won't hold it against you, lol
Annie - thanks for your opinion on the Idol singers, now I really am hanging out to watch the show. Friday is too far away
Patti - ok, so Elliot could have done better, but Katherine was rubbish, so she should go
We are having a humungous thunder storm here now, I love thunder. This storm has been rumbling on for about an hour, but I am still waiting for the huge rumble directly over the house
I am going to go now I think and do some storm watching out the window, bye for now,
we had some big storms here today too but its all over now... thank goodness i wont miss my show tonight lol! yea i kinda want Katherine to go but i will Not spill the beans on who goes lol
Ammi: Taylor is AMAZING...my friend in Birmingham, AL got me his CD....and it is also fabulous. Elliot I can take or leave. Chris is a lock to make it big and Katherine should try acting. I don't want to jinx my WI by making any predictions. I have been working out like a fiend and aside from the ice cream incident I have been great foodwise. So what will be will be.
Lilion: Get Well Soon! I'll be OK...I just need to figure out my plan of action.
Crock --Hubby and I are esentially doing the same thing: eating less and moving more. We write down what we eat and try to be healthy. It's really working -- between us we have lost over 130 pounds! That's a person!!
Ammi -- My hubby loves the designer clothes too -- he shops ebay and sales and outlets to get better deals... He also does a lot of shopping for me!
Misti - LOL, I actually had quite a few arguments with the teacher about some of the things she was teaching us. She went on to tell us that no one would have long term success with low carb/high protein diets, and you only lose about 20 pounds on them....then, of course, I had to speak up and tell her I'd lost 60 pounds on South Beach, and she didn't quite know what to say. Her philosophy is her way, or go away...she didn't like to be told anything...not a very good teacher.
Nancy - Boy am I EVER! I know she graded the class on a curve, and that's what saved my butt!
Wyllenn - Oooh! Congrats to hubby too! It's so nice to be in this together with the one you love, I'm sure!
Val - "I think I'd rather have someone go after my husband than my horse." lol!!! At least your 'baby' is getting good care while you are away. What kind of diet pills did you order?
Annie - That's so GREAT!!! Sounds like you are definately going to 'make it' this time around! You are quite an inspiration, m'lady!
Sharon - Goodness sakes! I hope everything is alright with Aiden now!
Ammi - LOL! What an interesting form of exercise! And killing two birds with one stone! I'm at Andrew's a couple nights a week, usually....COMPULSION. And it's not so much that I weigh like twice a week...but I'll weigh like 10 times in one night... HORRIBLE. I'm just glad it's not at my house, or I'd constantly be on it!
Charlotte - Hmmm...the recipe. I'll have to see about the measurements (check with Mom), cuz we usually just make it like we like it, and go! I'll try and get it within the next couple of days, and post it on the recipes board! It's Goooood!
Crock - So Friday is your last day? Is this your first year back, or are you getting ready to graduate soon?
Lilion - Good to know you are here in spirit, my fellow law buddy! (me not so much yet ) I look forward to seeing you around on a regular basis, and THANK YOU for letting us know you hadn't in fact dropped off the face of the earth! lol
Today's been another FUN day out job hunting. I applied at yet another gas station, and called an office, but of course, they want someone with EXPERIENCE! I sent my resume & cover letter to the South Bend Tribune (fairly big paper around here), about a job typing up obituaries and classifieds. Also sent out another resume for a data entry job around here...we'll see if I hear anything back. Going tomorrow to apply at the local Curves. They are hiring for people to watch over machines and such. I dunno if they are going to give it to me, though, since I'm FAT! Hey, I could cheer on everyone!! And maybe get a discount on membership!! We'll see...tomorrow's another day.
