March Exercise: Make it a Habit!!
Welcome! ...To the March exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit and give ourselves some accountability! In this thread, we're setting the number of MINUTES we want to exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or housework! We're also tracking how many minutes we have exercised as a group! Please first post your goals and then add your minutes (for yourself and the group) and get some support and accountability! If you want to join us during the month -- GREAT! Just let us know how many minutes you want to exercise in what's left of the month! |
For February, I made a goal of 300 minutes, and made it all the way to 600 minutes. I think for March, I'm still going to go a bit low (don't wanna discourage myself), and go with 500 minutes. :) If I can outdo myself in March again, I'll just keep upping it until it's about the right amount. :)

Well, as some of you know, I got a little carried away with exercising in February, so I'm going to lower my personal goal for March. I planned on a minimum of 70 to 76 mins a day in Feb, but I've been told to stick to more the 50/60 min mark. I'm averaging that out, so alternating those two times.
If my math is correct, that would make my new target... ummm... 16 (days) x 50 = 800 and 15 x 60 = 900 Oh... that actually makes quite a nice, even amount. So, my personal goal for March is 1700 minutes. I may go over now and then, if hubby and I do a walk, but I will hopefully be much more controlled this month. I look forward to seeing everyone else's goals. People have been doing such a good job on the Feb thread that we should have some good goals set here. Well done Kayley on adding so much to your previous goal. I think you are being VERY sensible setting it at a reasonable amount. Then you will just be thrilled if you are over, but you won't have the pressure on to do too much... like some of us were doing.:^: Take care all, Zelma |
I think I will have some spare time on my hands so I am aiming to be walking my own dog whilst I am not at work, so I am aiming for two times a day and a total of 500 minutes during March.
|
Looks like people are doing well setting goals already. Like Kayley and Zelma, I want to be reasonable. My goal in February (from my convoluted scheme) worked out to 25 mins/day. I think that I will have a quieter end of March to catch up if I fall behind, so I am thinking of upping that to 30 minutes/day, which works out to.. yikes: 930 mins!! Hmmm... that just sounds like a lot somehow.
Okay, new plan: 800 minutes. I'd rather have success with fewer minutes (but still see myself increasing), than fail with a higher number. And this is a little higher... Beyond that, I hope to workout on the treadmill at least 3 days/week and do weight/strength training at least 2 days a week, and back exercises 3/week... What about everyone else! |
I think I am going to end up with 935 minutes for February and March is 2 days longer, but I don't want to get too ahead of myself. So I will set my March goal at 900 minutes. Also for March I need to start adding more strength training in, so I bought myself some weights this weekend. My plan is to try and add 10 minutes or so in the morning, working a different muscle group every day.

Everytime I would see these kinds of threads before I would stay away from them. I exercised regularly but eventually it stopped. Maybe participating in this and having the accountability will help me stay on track. So my goal for March is 900 minutes. I actually would like to surpass that but since it's been a while since I've exercised I'll start lower than what I'd like to do. I've got to get my body used to exercising again. |
I will do 900 minutes as well and my mom who is visiting from the north woods will do 1800 in the Month of March. Boy oh boy I guess I might as well bite the bullet.
|
Wow, all these 900 minute people! You're making me feel guilty for setting my goal at 800!! Nonetheless, I know we are all different and in different places, so I am just going to leave mine there!
Welcome to the returners AND the newcomers! |
Don't feel like you are under Wyllen - I've decided to join in and set a 600 minute goal. That's 20 minutes a day. As I currently do ZERO - I expect that will be a decent first-time goal. No reason for me to set more and not do it...I may actually accomplish the 600 minutes.
|
I'm usually so sporadic with my exercise. I am going to set my first goal at 500 minutes. I'm such a procrastinator that this would be quite an accomplishment :-)
:carrot: |
welcome, Lilion and Heather! We are really having fun with this thread and accountability. I am actually happy with my 800 minutes... so far I am increasing every month, and expect that I WILL be at 900 minutes (or more) in the future.
|
I think I'm going to start with a low-ish goal and hope I do better. I'm aiming for 600 minutes in March. That's only gym time and excludes walks with the dog.
Good luck to everyone! |
Hey guys!
I am up for another month! February was 800 mins.... I guess I will try to up that to 1000. If I can acheive that, I think that it is a number that I would like to stay at. I kinda fizzled once I reached my goal so I want to set something a little higher to keep me motivated. Brenda  |
Hi All,
Well I don't think I stuck to what I said I would do last month, what with the my exercise space being taken up by the mattress while Daren made the units in the bedroom, to the kids being off school. But this month I don't think I have anything that will stand in my way. SO, I will do 30 minutes of Salsasize every day for definite. I will do some walking too, but think I will add that as an extra as I am never sure when I will walk or how far I will walk. My personal goal will be 600 minutes a month. Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
