Hey Chickies!

Just wanted to wish everyone a really good weekend. Mine will be busy. I have to go to a class tomorrow for about 9 hours to get certified as a BLS (basic life support) instructor. That way I can certify the people I work with in CPR, First Aid and AED (defib). Sunday I'm on call for the fire department from 12a to 12a. Another stay at home day...but that's OK with me.

My pup is doing real well. Her tail seems to be healing nice and she's back to her old self again.

Did my aerobics again today. They seem to be getting easier and easier, except the one that has more to do with the arms. They get so tired and rubbery. I wish there was somewhere else I can do them instead of my basement. I'm 6' tall and keep hitting the ceiling rafters...cut my finger pretty good yesterday. Can't do them upstairs because I'll end up tripping over one of the dogs. I guess I'll just have to be a little more careful!

I had a real yummy chicken dish last night. I'll post it on the recipe board. It may sound questionable but believe me, it tastes AWESOME!

Hugs,
Sarah

Felicia - Every time I see Tony Little on TV, I can't help but bust out laughing! It's great that he has the enthusiasm, but dang! As long as it's helping you (and your husband), that's all that matters!

Sharon - That sounds a little like something I was looking at at Walmart the other day! I just don't know about customs, as Ammi was talking about how EXPENSIVE it can be! But if it went through for $4, that'd be great! Is there any way to see how much customs is?

Sarah - Sounds like a busy weekend! But being at home will give you more time to exercise, which is ALWAYS good!

Well, chicks. I'm just doing a little bit of laundry, and I still need to get in the shower, as I got side-tracked earlier, when I was SUPPOSED to be doing it! hehe...Then it's off to Andrew's!

Kayley - If you only ship a few items and you write GIFT all over the package, you probably won't need to pay any customs duties. You don't have to pay customs on gifts. Maybe the amount Ammi's friend sent her made the customs people think she was using them for a shop or something.

Also, I wouldn't go crazy with clothing shopping until you know where you are going to work. The office I work in is very casual. We only dress up when we know there are guests coming. You may not need much in the way of new clothes depending on the place.

Julee/Valerie/Lillion - Just hearing about wedding planning makes me want to elope when the time comes. So many details - I hate event planning! Although I suppose that since I would be doing it for myself then there would be no one else to complain when things didn't go exactly right.

About the water - I am not convinced it is the hydration that does it, but maybe all of the extra exercise from having run up to go to the bathroom every hour!

TGIF!! I just can't decide if I am going to go back to the gym and on the treadmill tonight or I am going to go home and try this new Bollywood workout DVD I got from Amazon yesterday. Either way it all has to be done by 8:00 because it is Friday night - my one "religious" TV night. I have to watch Stargate (both SG1 and Atlantis) and Battlestar Gallactica. I know Wyllen said she was a BSG fan - any other sci-fi junkies here?

Nancy - Thanks for the info on customs! If I didn't have to pay that, it would be great!

Ooh-ooh! That's what I'll be doing tonight too! SG-1 is my favorite show, although I have to say that I miss RDA and liked it much better with him. He's the only man I ever told my bf he'd have to be afraid I'd leave him for. I absolutely adore that man. And as much as it galls me to admit it--I do like the new BSG. I still have a problem with Starbuck being a girl, but I like the stories themselves. They're pretty interesting. And I do have to say that I liked the--what's the word I'm looking for?--I think the original cast had a better chemistry together. I liked it better anyway.

Hi everyone

Now that I've got my sci-fi out of the way lets talk weight loss. Haven't been to the gym yet this week. Robin and I are definitely going to re-start on Monday and my life has been quite the drama for the past few days. I won't go into it, but just let me say that it's taking all I have to not stuff food in my mouth just to make myself feel better. One good thing though is that I don't feel like I need to eat all day long so that is progress. And I've been able to NOT overeat and I've pretty much stayed on plan. Meaning that I've been doing good and I'm down to 261.6 which is still a 1 pound loss so far this week. And I cheated guys--cheated in a I made a lasagna with lots of pasta, cheese and garlic bread kind of way. It was good too. I only had one piece though and I've now cut the rest of it up, wrapped it and put it in the freezer. And the best part is that when I weighed myself this morning I was still at the 261.6 so I'm ecstatic. I guess that I am finding out that I really can eat anything in moderation.

Sharon--great NSV-- I noticed that about myself the other night. I was sitting on the couch and I could actually tell that I was smaller than I used to be. It feels great and I'm so happy for you!

Speaking of NSV's--did I tell you all about how I saw my sister-in-law's sister for the first time since I've been losing weight? She was with her fiancee and all of a sudden I heard someone saying--"Damn! We're going to have to start calling you skinny." It was awesome having someone who I haven't seen in a while exclaim over how "good you look". I still think--know -- that I have a way to go yet, but it still felt pretty wonderful to hear things like that. It actually made me think about my extended family. I hope that I don't see any of them until I'm either down to my goal weight or like a size 12 or really close to where I want to be. It will be such a shock for them, you know what I mean?

And another NSV--now this might sound kind of silly and I hope it's not TMI--but the other day I was on the toilet and I lifted my belly up and for the first time in years I actually saw the top of my legs. I only even tried to look because it was itchy and I just kept scratching. I didn't think I would be able to see anything because I couldn't in the past. While it seems like the belly isn't go down at all--I'm wrong, it is. And that's my NSV.

Oh and I actually have another one to report! I was talking to my bf's best friend and get this--LAST MONTH my bf was talking to Bob and he said, "You know what? I was looking at Vicki today and you know what? She's lost a lot of weight." Bob said to him, "Dude, you're just noticing this now?" and Paul told him, "I live there and see her every day so I don't notice it. She's looking really good." Bob just laughed at him. That is what Bob told me Paul said.
Now you guys just know that he wouldn't tell me how good I look--not my bf. But hearing that he's noticing is quite a boost.

Darn--I have to go. My niece is on the phone and I told her I'd take her out today. Have a good day.

Vicki

Vicki: Woo Hoo on the NSV's! Don't they just make your day!

On the topic of Sci-Fi: I'm a HUGE Sci-Fi fan! I've seen every single episode of Stargate SG-1, Atlantis and BSG! I have to admit, I didn't like the old BSG very much...but the new one ROCKS! SG-1 is my favorite though!

I must admit, I am an all-around nerd. I'm one of the few girls I ever knew who collected comics as a kid. I've seen every episode of Star-Trek. In a recent game of Scene It I was the only woman present who could give the last names of all seven main Star-Trek characters. I even read fan fiction.

Top that off with being in the SCA and dressing up in the 13th century for fun and I am without a doubt a mega nerd!

But at least I don't speak Klingon! (A little Elvish maybe...but not Klingon! )

Hello All,

So suffice to say that those with losses for those dealing with narky people, don't let them get you down, for those with NSVs they are the best kind if you ask me, and to those that just came on to say hi, a big hello to you all

Thank you to all of you for making dieting not so much of a chore I am going to miss you guys when the board is changing servers, but at least I can still chat to some of you on messengers, so all is not lost

Julle- I'm glad you're opting for a more moderate sized bouquet. When I was maid of honor for my best friend, mine bouquet was larger then a lot of brides- then we she handed me hers too...well lets just say its a good thing I'm a big girl because I swear I had 75 pounds of flowers between the two

Felicia- I grew up watching Carrol Duvall- she's from my neck of the woods in northern lower peninsula of Michigan. I miss the old Carrol- when she wasn't beholden to all these different companies to push products. I still won't forget how excited she would get if the meat department at a local grocery store got a new color of Styrofoam trays....she went wild when one got purple ones with all sorts of projects.

Ms Crockett- What's going on with your leg? I know for my knee problem (kneecap specifically), it was recommended I avoid a lot of things, including bikes...of course I had bought a really nice $600 recumbent exercise bike a year or so before that and all I'm allowed to do is warm & cool down...I wanted to sell it but my mom likes it too much. For me personally, glider exercisers (like a Gazelle) don't do much- I never seem to get much of a workout on them...which explains why the one I have is packed away at the back of my garage (I got when I had a knee surgery and couldn't bend my knee- I had to burn excesses energy/calories off somehow). What my doctor recommended was NordicTrack-type cross country skier...I'm not coordinated enough yet to use it so in the mean time I bought a cheaper cross country skier at Good Will for $10. The foot things don't move independently, like they do on a NordicTrack ones, so it isn't as hard to do- but you also don't burn as many calories either...but its good for now. I really recommend checking what your local Good Will type places have- some carry workout equipment & some don't, but you can usually pick things up pretty reasonably there...and if you don't like, donate it back and try something else. BTW- I have even seen really nice electric treadmills at Good Will-type places.

Kayle- drop me a PM with your addy and I'll try to get that book off to you. I might have some clothes too- I'll have to look through my stash to see what I have.

For all you gals who are shopping for sports brans, I tried the ones I got on Ebay yesterday and let me tell you, they hold the girls in place...and I'm a DD, so thats no small feat. They are the Carol Weir ones from QVC that are usually $25 each- I got 2 of them and one Breezies bra (also QVC) from one seller and it was $27 w/shipping for all 3 of them, new w/tags. The Breezies line doesn't have sports bras, but they have some really good support bras- and some fancier/lacier ones too, and panties too...best of all they go up to pretty big sizes- I want to say the bras go up to 48DDD, maybe bigger band size and in panties up to size 15- and their cut is very generous. I fell in love with Breezies several years ago because they have their Ultimair lining that helps wick moisture away from you- I originally ordered them from QVC directly, but I couldn't afford to now that I'm on disability, so I was so happy to find great deals on returns & overstocks on EBay.

I was in the kitchen baking again last night & most of today. I'm making cheesecake balls to take to a Super Bowl party- I lost count on how many different flavors I made. The good thing is that all of them are made with at least 1/2 of the cream cheese/sour cream being fat free and I did one with all fat free & used Splenda to sweeten it, though it has all natural peanut butter in it too, so that added fat- but its the healthy type of fat. Another good thing about doing the cheesecake balls is that you don't have to eat an entire piece- you just put a little on a cookie like you would put a regular cheese ball spread on a cracker. The only bad thing is that I end up with a lot of scrap when I form the ball...thank goodness my best friends husband can afford to eat cheesecake

Christine - that is excellent news about the bras. I am a 44E and would love a comfortable bra that holds the girls in place

That's a shame the Rider wasn't any good for you, wish I lived closer, I would offer to buy yours off you. Why don't you sell it on eBay, it's a good way to make money and stop the thing from just gathering dust.

Sounds like a lot of gals are looking forward to Superbowl parties this weekend, I hope you have a brilliant time, and enjoy those cheeseballs. Good on you for making some low fat healthy ones!!

Hugs,

Ammi

Default Ok, UPDATE.............

Ok, here's the update. It looks like the time has come for the server move. The site will be shut down at midnight TONIGHT. It sounds like maybe Suzanne is going to let it all be "read only" until the swap is made so maybe you'll get here, maybe you won't. If you get here you just won't be able to post. Once everything is in place, it will take time to update, which could take a couple of hours up to 48 depending on your ISP. If you are able to post, you're on the new server and everything is a go for you from there. See you all soon.
