Thanks Leanne -- I appreciate it! It's funny, when I worked out on Saturday, I deliberately did a little extra to get me to 1/3 of the exercise on the day that was 1/3 of the month. I think these exercise goals help me some!

Tuesday exercise for me: 65 minutes water walking.

300+ exercise-total: 2543 + 65 = 2608 minutes

Wyllenn I absolutely know that this thread has been encouraging me to keep going back to the pool, especially during December when it's really busy with kids' school and end-of-year functions. And while I'm in the pool, I keep thinking "5 minutes more, then that's 5 minutes less left to go to get to that 800 minutes"

Hi Girls
45 min over the weekend and 30 min tonight = 75 min to add
Dec 300+ exer total 2608 +75 = 2683 minutes

Personal time 230 + 75 = 305 minutes

Leanne -- Yeah, I keep thinking the same thing! Anything to help make this a habit, right?? Way to go with the exercise -- you are almost 1/2 way there!!

Brenda -- I know things have been tough lately -- good for you for getting the exercise in.

Went to the gym tonight for the FIRST TIME! Got acclimated, so only did 16 minutes, but I'm counting it. Plus, I worked out this morning too (already counted that!)

Dec 300+ exer total 2683 +16 = 2699 minutes

We can SO get to 3000 in the next couple of days, right everyone??

I met with my trainer tonight -- 50 minutes of strength training and 50 minutes on the evil stairmaster (I guess it is called a StairMill).

2699 + 100 = 2799

Closing in on 3000 everyone!

Hi everyone,

Been MIA in the exercise arena lately but went to a water aerobics class tonight. I did 60 minutes of water workout and another 30 of water jogging/walking.

300+ Exercise Total for December is 2799 + 90 for Dogpal = 2889 so far! You guys are awesome.

wyllenn! One of the main reasons I want to lose weight is to be able to be active again. I enjoy the outdoors -- camping, hiking, backpacking, skiing, diving, snorkeling, etc... As I've gotten heavier and heavier, I've become a lot more limited in what I can do -- because it's uncomfortable, because I'm afraid of hurting myself, and because sometimes I just cannot do it. I am so excited about being able to do things again. I'm probably going up to the snow this weekend and taking a cross-country ski lesson. I love downhill skiing, but am afraid of blowing out my knees at this weight. With XC, I think I'll be more under my own power and less under the force of gravity. I've only XC'ed once, and that was with a bunch of friends where they were trying to show me what to do. I want to take a real lesson, and have a clue . Anyway, it's the desire to do these things that motivates me to workout longer -- I want to be aerobically fit enough to enjoy some of these activities . Have a great day all!

elmay -- I know EXACTLY what you mean. I've never been really active, but as I gained, I did less and less, to the point where I was avoiding so many things because of my weight (and those fears you mentioned). I started this journey not so much to lose weight but to get healthy, and to me that means being more active! Sure, I need to lose weight to do that, but losing weight isn't the end goal.

I want to be able to not THINK about whether I can walk a mile (or two or five) today because my feet might hurt. I want to be able to TRY new things (I've NEVER been skiing or snorkeling) and not worry about whether I'll "fit" in the suit or the ski lift.

But I was starting to languish in my 30 minute routines on the treadmill 3-5 x/week. This thread has helped push me to do more, but other things are starting to come together. My husband and I joined the Y (last week). Last night we finally got our butts over there. Okay, we were the fattest people there, but I didn't feel too uncomfortable. ANd I tried an elliptical for the first time. Kicked my butt it did. My next challenge! And then there's the weight rooms, and the pool. I love to swim! And pilates classes. I want to be able to try it all!

Phew. Went on a little long there! Anyway, I guess the point is that we are all motivating each other!

I know that this thread/group has helped motivate me. I appreciate all of you! I never exercised before I committed to this thread and I am not doing much now but it is a start. A start that I wouldn't have gotten on my own. Adding 46 mins today. I am so proud, that is the longest I have ever worked out at one time!

2889 + 46 = 2935 mins total

Default The December Exercise Thread, Part 3

Welcome!

Last month many of us set exercise goals for December -- and guess what? It's here!!!

In this forum, we're setting the number of MINUTES we want to exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or housework! Remember December is really 4.5 weeks long, but full of holidays, so plan accordingly!!

We're also tracking how many minutes we have exercised as a group!

As of now: 300+ exer-total = 3041 minutes (that's over 50 hours, people!!)

Please add your minutes (for yourself and the group and get some support!

If you want to join us during the month -- GREAT! Just let us know how many minutes you want to exercise in what's left of the month!

Well ladies, its Wednesday here ... and another 65 minutes water walking for me ...
So that takes my total up to 440 minutes (woohoo past 1/2 way) and
300+ exer-total = 3041 + 65 = 3106 minutes
