Hi Ladies! I hope everyone is having a great day! I tried 4 times to go for my walk. Every time I put on my sneakers it started to rain again. Take them off and poof, out came the sun! Its not only driveing me crazy but its driving the dog nuts! She has no idea why I keep putting on my runners and then muttering to myself as I take them back off again. Guess I will have to go to the mall and buy her a new bone to make up for the lack of exercise today
I have a question for you all. I started using FitDay a few days ago and am thrilled with it. I want to stick with about 1200-1400 calories per day with about 50% coming from protiens as I have realized that they are what keeps me from craving and pulling my hair out . Anyhow, my question is, those of you that are counting calories, do you have a lot of unused calories at the day of your day? Somedays I haven't used half of what I need to. I am not hungrey or wanting for anything but I am wondering if my body will shift into starvation mode and then my rate of weight loss will slow down. I also don't want to get into the mind frame that I have to eat more when I already feel full. Any thoughts or suggestions? I never once in my life thought that I would ever have THIS problem!
Well I think I am off to the mall for a bit. I'll stop in later to have a chat!
hi ladies, im still here, although i havent posted in like a week. my job schedule the past two weeks has been intense! Looks like everyone is doing great! I am doing well myself, although exersise is not terrific because i am so tired from work
welcome to all the new posters if havent already done that
This board is really increasing in posters, and its great to see so many people in the same boat, so to speak, who understand the issues we all face.
I hope everyone has a great night, forgive any misspellings, my computer keys are sticking, lol
I count calories and I do anywhere from 1300-1600 calories a day.....just depending on what kind of day I am having. There has been days where I felt as if I didn't eat enough but I didn't feel hungry. Something that you could do to give you more calories is maybe drink a glass of 1% milk or fat free milk.....that will give you a 100 calories or so. I usually do egg whites, turkey bacon or canadian bacon and a thomas english muffin that is whole grain for breakfast, lunch can be tuna on whole wheat or sometimes I will have a lean cuisine meal or something along with a fruit or veggie and dinner I usually have a lean meat with brown rice and lots of stir fried veggies. Snacks that I eat are Yoplait fat free vanilla yogurt with Kashi or grapenut cereal sprinkled on it...I love the Luna Bars...they are a women's nutritional bar that has a lot of protein and fiber and they are very good. If I am craving something sweet I will eat a sugar free fudgesicle or sugar free Jell-O pudding. Who would have ever thought that we were thinking whether or not we had enough calories for one day.
Amy ~ Yeah for you! Eight pounds is a huge success!!!!
Andrea ~ Do you watch your carb intake as well? I was just curious because that is the approach I am taking now that I am in this weight loss plateau that I am in. I am certainly not eliminating them from my diet though. I like em too much *L*
It's me again, just thought I would pop on to let you know that it was just another normal diet day for me today. Not once did it pop into my head that I may as well eat what I want because of what happened on the scales. I had that silly moment last night, and it passed. I know I have been helped so much by all of you here. I thank you all for saying that I am an inspiration, but let me tell you, you all inspire me. I know I say it over and over, but I really feel so lucky to have found this place. So big hugs to you all.
Wyllen - phew I am glad I listened to you as well, I know you want to lose weight, but swimming the ocean isn't a good way of doing it Maybe you could have hitched a ride on a dolphin or something along the way
Brenda - that's amazing that you walked 3 miles, AND went to aquafit. You will have those lbs falling off you,
Thank you for your kind words. As for lifting heavy stuff when we go shopping, it's very true. When I think that I have lost the equivalent of 18 bags of sugar I am just amazed at what I have been putting my body through. No wonder my feet, back and legs hurt!!
Julee - I think it was me that was asking about 'Wicked'. Would you recommend reading the books? If so, that's three I have to look out for now!!
Futurediva - glad that you checked in, and to hear you are still doing well with the weight loss. I should imagine if you are so tired out from work that that in itself is good exercise for you.
Andrea - thank you for the congrats and your words of encouragement. You are so right that the most important thing is that I am changing my lifestyle. It and the non scale victories are what mean more than what any scales say. I still hate scales though
Jen - good for you for staying mainly on plan. Oh no, you didn't do the dreaded thing of buying the Halloween candy too early did you? Mind you I did the same, and although I gave it a thought last night, I was good and decided all my hard work this past two months isn't going down the drain because of some numbers on a stupid scale. So the ghoulish candy is still safe and ready for my girls to have on Halloween.
Amy - good job that Manda noticed your 8 lb loss on your tracker. You kept that quiet didn't you?!! I would have been shouting it from the roof tops. That is so fantastic, well done you You should be so proud of yourself!!
Well it's time for me to get some sleep now. Thank you all again for being here for me today and helping me keep on track and not be down about what was still a good loss. You are all the best Bye for now,
I haven't been here in ages! Just wanting to touch base and say Hi to all the new chicks! Holding my own - joined LAWL 3 1/2 weeks ago and 12 pounds gone already!
Wyllenn: I LOVE pugs! Have one of the little darlings myself! She is our third fur baby and truly thinks she runs all of us!!
Brenda-- I do try to watch my carbs somewhat. I log everything into fitday as well. I try to have a lot of protein for breakfast. I know I don't consume nearly as much carbs as I use to. I guess I just try to make better choices when I do have carbs. We eat brown rice instead of white rice and of course eat whole grain breads, bagels or muffins instead of white.
Lori: great to see another pug lover! Those are our 2 boys in the picture. Hamlet, the puppy, licking Othello's ear (hubby has a thing for Shakespeare).
Ammi: Yes, thank goodness you came to your senses, as in retrospect that little swim really would have done me in. I'm proud of you for coming back strong and will remember THAT the next time I have a bad scale experience!
To those others counting calories, it seems when I started this a couple of months ago I had calories left at the end of the day, but I'm seeing a bit of a creep up -- I'm going just over my limit a bit more often than I'd like... think I have to nip that in the bud...
Remember I said I thought I was coming down with something, that something I think has turned out to be tonsilitis I am meant to be seeing my therapist today at 1.30 in the doctors surgery, so I am going to ring and see if I can't get a late appointment to see a doctor. I have plans for tomorrow that I don't want stupid tonsilitis to spoil. Nothing major, but getting out of the house to do something different, and I don't want to have to change those plans.
Lori - I love you siggy on your post, did you make it yourself? I used to make a few of them myself with PSP 7, but don't have the time now. I spend most of my time here or playing games on Pogo, or emailing or chatting. What a fun life I lead
What is LAWL? Whatever it is, I am glad you are having such success with losing weight on it. It's so great to see the lbs coming off isn't it.
Wyllen - thank you for being proud of me, I am proud of me too. That was my first real test on this diet. Normally I would have just given up, or at least had a major pig out before getting back on track. But I just had that handful of sultanas, and two chocolate biscuits, gave myself a stern talking to, and here I am back to business. I think I really am going to do it this time. It's an amazing, if somewhat scarey feeling
Sharon (voodoo) - so glad we got to chat yesterday. I hope I catch you again later today.
Sharon (neurotica) - hope things are going well with you. I miss seeing you post here.
Luan - Earth to Luan, anybody out there. I hope you are keeping on track, and are having luck finding another great job.
Alison - I tried to email you yesterday, but the email was returned saying no such email address exists. I don't think I got it wrong. So I hope you are ok. Diet or no diet, you know you are welcome here.
Ok time to try to keep ringing to get through to the doctors. I hope everybody has a great day. Bye for now,
I am starting to take walks in the mornings. I have never been one for exercise, I just about don't know how to start. Just think about me. I hope that I don't collapse and make a fool of myself.
Manda-- Glad to know you are starting walking...My husband, son and I walk everynight about a mile and a half and just this week I have started walking with a friend of mine that lives up the street. Yes, I actually got up at 6:00 and walked about a mile....so hopefully with me walking in the morning and night I will see some results. I also do weights and the elliptical when I do it. Walking is a good form of exercise.
Ammi – Now that’s positive attitude!!! Way to go girl! It can be hard at times I know… but at least you were able to pick yourself up and regain that motivation! I too think like that, when you say “the test was waay to easy where’s the catch”. I’m not sure when we will get our results back, but we did them on scan tron, so I can’t imagine it being to much longer before we get the results. My friend who has had this teacher before says she’s pretty quick with returning stuff. So maybe when I go to class on Tuesday I’ll know heheheh… here’s my silly little idea on bc… wether it be for sex or not LOL.. but I figured since I’m having irregular cycles. I was told I am more than likely storing estrogen which is why my cycles are irregular… so I figured, if the doctors says the pill will help regulate my cycles… that would mean I wouldn’t be storing as much estrogen and I’ll of course have my regular cycles (which I do now), but maybe just that little bit of non stored estrogen would help with weight loss… even if pill makes ya gain weight. Sounds silly I know… but I’m also on the pill to help regulate me so that I can possible become pregnant later on. James and I are talking about children, after I get a permanent job… and that’s coming up in about a year or two. So I figured if I started now, it will be easier later… that’s probably more than you wanted to know… sorry to ramble!
Amyliz – hehehe I get nervous reading about me taking calculus exams as well.. and that’s just reading about it… imagine having to sit in class and actually take it *grin*
Xena – seems like housework is a never ending thing around here… if you want you can come over and clean my house… that is if you are still in the mood hehehe
Wyllenn – Ahh… well that’s what I’m working towards… and soon *I’ll* be giving the tests instead of taking them what do you do (if you don’t mind my asking) I’m working on my second degree, for teaching with a concentration in math. My first degree was in computer graphics design.
Going to lose 200 – I like your name! And congrats on that 3 mile walk! I’m hoping for the opposite effect with the BC. I figured I gained so much weight with being on Depo because I stopped having a cycle that maybe having a cycle and not storing all those hormones might help me… but I could be blowing smoke. We’ll see what happens!
To all the ladies who count calories…
I count calories as well. When I first started… ummm back in January 2004… I weighed almost 380lbs. I went on a 1600 calorie diet. I lost the weight… and I felt good about it too… by June 30th (my first mini goal) I got down to 350lbs. I was estatic. But in between January and June, I got sick… and by the time June came around I was getting sick after sick after sick. Doctor told me I may have been cutting back to fast on my caloric intake and may have weakened my immune system and made myself vulnerable to catching a bug. I went off my diet and restarted in January of 2005. I gained back about 12-15 pounds of the original 30 that I had lost. In January, I ate like normal… calculating everything I ate just to see where I was at. I was averaging about 3200-3500 calories a day. By that time I gained a few more pounds. I think I set my weight tracker at 368lbs. I am currently down to 353lbs. But I’ve started differently on my calorie diet. I cut my calories down to about 2500 (they say not to cut them more than 700-800 at a time). That was a little more than suggested, but so far I have not gotten sick. As of I believe last month, I cut my calories down to 2100 daily. So far so good. Almost back to my original 350lbs…. Getting there!!! However with all the stress going on lately… it’s been a lot harder to loose the weight. Not to mention my doctor at the University wanted to put me on something to regulate my cycles better… so the BC isn’t helping, but I kinda hope it will.
I guess after all that rambling, what I wanted to say is… if you are counting calories, please don’t cut to much to fast. You want to lose weight, but be healthy about it too. I also bounce my caloric intake around. I’ll take in 1800 calories one day, and then the next day I’ll take in 2400… as long as over the week it averages out to be about 2100 per day. I think it helps my body from thinking I’m starving it if I bounce around like that. Also this goes for anyone dieting, take a good multi-vitamin. You aren’t taking in the nutrients like you have been without dieting…
Okie ladies… I gotta run… gotta get to work then have class tonight.
