These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

Alright, well I will not break the rule of starting a new thread without posting, so here goes.

Hope everyone had a FABULOUS 4th! I love it when they make new holiday-appropriate smilies for us

I started the Idiot Proof Diet yesterday. Seems basically like a South Beach type of thing except more fruit (carbs) allowed--lots of protein, veggies, and fruit with occasional pasta and bread. It doesn't even say you have to use whole-grain pasta, but I do anyway. It also stresses that you drink your 10+ servings of water per day, so I am good to go there (it is 10:36am, and I have already had 9 servings! of course, I have been up since 4:45am...). So far, so good--easy to prepare in advance (which I need with my hectic work schedule), and it's food I like anyway. I know I shouldn't do "fad" diets, but I need something like this that is extremely structured and less generic to keep me focused right now. I'll play with it a bit if needed as I go along. Also, just to check up on myself, I entered everything I ate yesterday (and have packed for today) into FitDay, so I know it's keeping me within a normal calorie and nutrient range (below 2000 calories a day and not too much fat).

Anyway...I didn't have any 4th of July festivities to tempt me away from my diet. I will spend next weekend at Jeff's place, so sticking to my planned menu will be a slight challenge, but I will prevail! I'll just have to bring a lunch bag in addition to my overnight bag

Good morning ladies! I am back!!!

I hope that you all had a fabulous long holiday weekend!!! I hope you all got to celebrate the Fourth of July with the ones that you love!

My weekend was wonderful, except for the food part!

On Friday after work, I weighed in, and I was down to 307 lbs which was a grand total of 9 lbs down for me (and that was WITH T.O.M. here). I was SO excited about it, but when I got home, there were all sorts of good food laying around, and I could not resist.

Needless to say, I ate my entire weekend away. I suppose it could have been worse, but it could have been better.

I felt terrible after eating all that bad food. And I donít just mean terrible as in feeling bad emotionally. I felt terrible physically. My stomach was in knots!!!

I was so thankful to go back to work today, because I knew that once today came, I would be back on plan. I am not going to let this one little weekend break me.

Over the entire weekend, my aunt and I did not get to the gym. This was my one long weekend to sleep in, so I thought that I would take advantage of it. We will be back at the gym tomorrow. I know I sure need the work out!

I am terrified to weigh in on Friday.
I know I have the rest of the week to eat healthy, and do right, so I am hoping that the scales will just break even. Weíll see when Friday rolls around.

We did manage to get the flooring down in the master bedroom this weekend, but we did not get it done in the dining room. It was much harder to install than it looked. I love the look of it though, and I know that I will be happy once it is all complete.

Well ladies, I am sorry to be so brief today. Iím sure I will be on and off of the site today, checking in when I get the chance.

Congrats to everyone who is down in the lbs this week, and welcome to all the new posters! Stick around! This place is GREAT!

Take care everyone!
- Kari

Good Morning Ladies!

I did it! I did it! I did it!

277 lbs today!!!

No time to post or do much other than brag, but I was SOOOO excited when I ran to the Dr. just a minute ago and weighed! And I didn't even starve myself this weekend, just stayed OP! It's been so long since I saw 7's on the scale!

Time to come up with a new short-term goal. My birthday is Sept. 6 - day after Labor Day this year! What do you think a realistic, yet challenging, 2 month goal is? Down to 260 perhaps? 17 lbs is WAY do-able in 8 weeks I'd think, yet ambitious enough to keep me focused. Thoughts anyone?

Happy, happy Lilion

Talking

Okay! Turns out I had more time than I thought...my last hearing defaulted, leaving me with free time. (Yes, I should be working. )

Kari: Don't worry so. I'm sure you'll find WI on Friday isn't as bad as you think. Everyone "falls off the wagon" and weekends are the worst! I got lucky this weekend, as we had no plans at all. So I wasn't tempted by the potato salad and funnel cakes as I would be on the usual 4th of July weekend.

Bamamom: Sounds like a nice 1st date! Good for you! Hope he turns out to be just as good on the 2nd date! Guys who talk to you are a rare breed. If you spent that long talking on the 1st date, it sounds promissing.

Jilly: I've never heard of the Idiot Proof Diet, but what you describe sounds like a reasonable plan. And we all know how busy you are so something you can stick to is key. Good luck!

I know I've missed a bunch of new people. tdothunny and one tall mama and Tansea and Mom2fivesweeties and I just know there was someone else...Welcome! Hope to get to know you better. Wow, there are so many new folks!

Thanks for the congrats ladies...I'm way too pleased with myself today.

Well, I hope the short work-week is a blessing to all of you here in the US. I actually could use that extra day, since I spend way too much time on the internet - Your tax dollars at work! So I best get back before you come asking me for your money back!

Onward and Downward Ladies!

Hi all, I survived the big bad bear! Wow how much fun and relaxation I had I can't even describe. It was so beautiful and relaxing. I tied my really nice floater up to my parent's boat on Saturday and had my dad pull me along behind them to thier fishing spot. I think I had the best seat because my Dad, Mom and hubby were in the boat but, so were my parents huuuuuge dogs. I had my own comfy space in the water. The whole time we were fishing I moved my legs to keep in one spot or to move me to the boat to unload my fresh caught fish. I caught 2 nice trouts on Saturday, Sunday I went on the boat with Dad and hubby. Mom and dogs stayed at camp. I caught 3 nice trout on Sunday then Monday I just swam and we loaded up the camping gear and headed back home. The bear was loose all the whole time but we were extrememly careful to keep food in the car etc. So, he never showed up at our site but he did have a buddy bear join him for the weekend. My mom named them Yogi and Booboo. I guess some folks were not as lucky as us when thier tent was invaded by the bears in the middle of the night. They had a bag of trail mix in the tent with them so the bears went after it. I wouldn't even let my hubby have his rollaids in there. TEE HEE.

Terri "THINTHINKER" Happy Birthday Girl. I hope that you had a wonderful Birthday. Sorry I am so late in well wishing.

DoxieMOM: YEA! You go girl Wow on your -4.4 AWESOME>

Clarinette: Welcome to you. We are so glad that you joined us. You will really love this site. I have been here since May and I don't know how I ever lived without my chickies. Self talk I'm learning can be helpful or harmful. I'm glad that you too have found that out.

Mazarin: Welcome to you too. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's shingles. My grandma had them and they looked soooooo painful. I sure hope that you don't get chicken pocks. I will pray for you that you skip over them.

Tashabella: Yummm. I love zucchini. My dad is Full blooded Chumash and Quilla Indian and I have a wonderful dish that my Grandma showed me how to make with zucchini, crook necked squash, corn, cheese and tomattoes. Enjoy your squash.

Catherine: I'm so glad that you are ok now and that you were treated like a lady instead of an object. Even though fainting is not the way to get it, I'm glad that you were shown kindness and attention.

Lilion: Yea to you on reaching 277. I can't wait to get under 400 then I will dream about the 2's. I think that 15-17 is a great goal. Good luck to you.

tdothunny: Welcome. I hope you are encouraged here as I always am. I am looking forward to loosing it with you.

Juleecee: Yes, I love the eraser. It really seems like magic.

Theotherjen: Good luck finding the Health problem. I sure hope and pray it isn't anything serious but that you will feel better when it is taken care of.

Bamamom: I am so happy for you about your date. I sure hope he is someone that you can find friendship with at least if not romance. Although, I am rooting for the romance.

Jillybean: Good luck with your new diet. I hope it is one that is easier for you to stay with and satisfying enough for you to do well.

Startingover: Don't be scared of the scales or beat yourself up over eating wrong. Just pick up and do better starting now. Blessings to you and good luck.

Well, If I've missed anyone, as always it was certainly not intentional. Hugs to everyone.

Blessings,
dogpal

dogpal - Sounds like you had a great weekend! Glad that the bears left you alone! I've never been camping out in the wilderness like that...so I wouldn't know what to do if I saw a bear! It sounds like you all had a great time though!

And thanks so much for the words of encouragement. I know that once you fall off the wagon, it's hard to get back on... but with the encouragement from all you ladies, it makes it so much easier to keep going! Thanks again!

Good morning to one and all!
Well just finished up trimming some bushes I've been trying to
get to since spring. Still have to clean up but that's been
my exercise for the day 3.5 hours worth.

Lillion your doing so great. Like I said in my first post I'm just
maintaining . One of these days the scales will start moving
again.

Just taking a break from my outside work so better get back
at it before my soaps come on the tellie.

Everyone keep on trucking - I know we can do this and win the
battle of the bulge. Later lighter HIlta

P.S. I too enjoy the new smilies, quite a few new ones have been added
since I posted last!

Hi Everyone!
I'm happy the weekend is over food-wise. I could have made better choices but I'm thankful I didn't do as bad as in the past on holidays. Our youngest turns 7 on Thursday and we celebrated his birthday yesterday with cake and ice cream. Sure wish I hadn't eaten it, but nothing I can do about it now!
Dogpal - WHERE were you camping? We have camped a lot in Illinois and Missouri and bears is one thing we don't have to worry about! I'd probably have a heart attack! LOL! Snakes and raccoons are just about all the wildlife we see - those raccoons had a feast with the food in our ice chest one night - they just opened it and ate away!
CONGRATS to Lilion and Doxiemom!
I need major motivation on excercise - it seems like at 310 pounds any exercise just about kills me. My knees hurt doing most of it and I get winded. What are all you girls doing?
Take care and have a GREAT Day! :-)

Hello mom2fivesweeties

I know exactly how you feel about exercising at 310 lbs! I joined a gym in mid June, but before that, I really wasn't doing any form of exercise (mostly because of the pain, and becoming winded so quickly).

Now that I am the gym, I am slowly working my way up. Starting off slow is the key. I started off with:

5 minutes on the treadmill (that's all I could do)
2 minutes on the Elliptical (that's all I could handle)
5 minutes on the bike
and 1 set of 10 reps on various arms, legs, abs and back machines.

Now that I have been going for about 3 weeks, I've noticed that I can do the
treadmill for ten minutes
the elliptical for 10-15 minutes,
and I had to eliminate the bike because of my tailbone.
With the machines - I can now do between 2-3 reps of 10 on each machine.

Another thing I've noticed is that I am not as winded as I used to be while working out. I also used to get winded walking from my car, into work. This is no longer bothering me as much.

If you can't join a gym, start off walking. Start off walking down the street and back. Then each day, venture out a little farther. (I guess this all depends on what kind of neighborhood you live in though.) I had to actually drive to another neighborhood to walk, because our neighborhood isn't all that safe.

You could also check and see if there is a track in your neighborhood. A lot of schools have them as well.

The thing that got me motivated to exercise, is that I knew I would lose more weight if I just got up and did it.

The very last time I attempted to lose weight, I only ate healthy, and never exercised. I lost 5 lbs the first week, and that was it. After not losing any more, I gave up. Now I know it was because I was not moving enough. Now that I am moving my body, I see the weight going down more...so exercise plays a big roll in the success of your weight loss.

I wish you luck in your journey, and if you need the motivation to keep going...this is the place to be!

Take care!

- Kari

Good Afternoon Ladies

I am so thrilled. I finally after weeks and weeks of staying the same, I finally lost 1 pound. I am thrilled to be down at all. I am going to update my tracker.

Startingover: Getting back on track is a doozie. It seems like it is hard to get the motivation that you initially had. I feel like I am back on track. I hope I am. I hope you are too.

Hilta: Wow! 3.5 hours of exercise is amazing. I know what is like to stay the same as I stated earlier but, there is hope, it will eventually move.

Lori: I was camping in a national forest about an hour from where I live which is Caldwell, ID near Boise. We went about an hour North. It was so lovely. The lake was like glass. NO ripples or wind. Fun, fun, fun. My dad drug me around on my floater and I actually felt thinner for once. It really was lovely. To come home and weigh for my weekly weigh in and to finally see the scale move, what a bonus . About your knees. I know what you mean too. If there is anyway you can swim for a while that would be really great.

Blessings to everyone,
Dogpal

Lillion: Congrats on the nice loss! You go!

Dogpal: Not MY birthday, sweetie. Terri is "Determinedtosucceed".

I'm having a wonderful day off with Honey. He decided to take today and tomorrow for an extended weekend. He fed me breakfast in bed. Then out to lunch and looking for panelling (next project). Then back home for showers and a movie watched laying in bed. Nice. I won't even tell you what came next. You can all use your imaginations!

Off for a dinner job. See you later.
