Just a quickie...I will be walking in the Revlon 5k Walk for Women to help fight women's cancer. I am walking with my friend Jen who is trying to put together a team. If you would like more info on this...please ask me. I am not allowed to put the link to my personal Walk page on here since it is a fundraiser (albeit for charity) but I'll play by the rules. Now..when was the last time I walked 3 miles???? Who knows! But I'm in. Jen says we'll be having a niec leisurely walk..which is fine by me.

In the meantime I am now the proud owner of not 1 but 2 pedometers. BF got me on over the weekend because he remembered that I wanted one..and then my uncle also sent me one. He is also doing WW and we were talking about them. I feel bad b/c BF was sooo sweet to get it for me..but now he can have one to wear too!

They finally fixed my closet tonight..and they lowered the bar...which means now I can actually access my shelves and I was able to get a bunch of my random stuff into the closet. I reorganized it as well, and with all the stuff I got rid of, it fits so mucn more nicely. Then..in a fit of organizational frenzy, I went through all of my drawers and stuff and now have 2 more full bags of stuff for Goodwill. This is so unlike me...but it's great!

Now I am pooped...I need to wash some dishes...of course the sink still leaks somewhat but that will get fixed tomorrow..and see if I have any food for lunch tomorrow.

I'm hoping that Wednesday's WI is a good one...last night on a stupid whim I got the scale at Jason's parents' place..and it looked like it said I was down 4....and I asked his mom if her scale was accurate..and she said that she always thought she weighted heavy on that one and to check the one in the other bathroom. So I did..and it also showed me down about 4. And it was the normal time of night when I weigh in about the same clothes that I usually wear..so here's hoping. TOM seems to be back..but after being there with such a vengeance the last 2 months, he seems to have slowed down a bit...thanks TOM!

Any suggestions for eating healthy while traveling through airports? I really do not want to eat airplane food or McDonalds...we have such early flights both days...argh.

Ok this was supposed to be quick...HAH!

Night ladies...

Hey everyone!

Sorry, I don't have time to respond to everyone, we had our first realtor come in last night and she gave us a list of things that she thinks we need to get done. Not sure we're going to go with her, but she gave us a couple good ideas and I'd like to have them done before the next realtor comes tomorrow evenning.

Mel- I find the night cravings to be pretty bad sometimes too, but I find that doing something like going shopping, or for a walk, or well, pretty much anything that doesn't involve sitting in front of the TV seems to help with them. I find that the cravings in the night just might be based on boredom. Hope that helps.

Missmeliss-this is from a pbs show I watched, so I don't have a clipping to refer to. Our bodies produce a hormone that has something to do with the sleep cycle. It's not cortisol, but something in that group. Our body produces it at 11pm everynight. It is what makes you want something sweet at night. The best way to avoid it is to be asleep when it hits. This time of year is harder because we just did daylight savings, and it hits earlier until our rythms reset. How I deal with it is to eat cereal and yogurt in the evening as my dessert. Especially cheerios because the oats seem to help me the most.

Julee-Pack your own food for airplane rides. Even if you get a meal on the plane, it will have enough sodium to kill a frog. If classy people like Martha Stewart and Hanibal Lector can pack their own food for planes, so can we. Most health food stores have take-out options, just read the labels. Martha recommends adding a bottle of water because the air is so dry on planes. For security reasons, make sure you don't open stuff until you go through security.

I don't know nuthin new today.

Julee: When we flew to Vegas last December we were surprised that the SOLD food. YIKES, the prices for a tiny sandwich. Anyway, on the way out there, we didn't have anything except the pretzels that they served with the beverage service. On the way home, we made a stop at Subway before we turned the rental car in. When everyone else was paying the high $$$ for their teeny hoagie, we had a nice healthy Subway to eat. Also, I always pack Pria bars or granola bars. You'll have a long flight. Pack an apple or two. Take along some of your own napkins and a ziplock bag to throw your trash in until they come along to pick it up. Definitely pack an extra bottle of water or two for the flight. Besides your throat getting dry, it will force you to get up and stretch your legs and pee every once in awhile, which is a GOOD thing in preventing blood clots on those long flights. Hope that helps.

Hi all! My name is Karen, and I think I'm in the right place. I've posted on 3 chicks ages ago - but in the South Beach area and under another name. Heck, I can't even remember what the name was! Casey, perhaps? I've changed ISP's so I can't even try to sign on under the old.

Perhaps that's good anyway. I'm looking to make a fresh start - and here I am.

I've posted my bio in the bio sticky - yeah, it's true. I'm clergy. Don't let that fool you, however. I've been known to swear like a sailor when the mood hits. I'm also interested in how faith interacts with our body image - and not just from a Christian perspective. But that's for another day.

I'm doing WW at home. I HATE the local meetings and despise how patronizing they are at times. I do enjoy support, however, so hopefully that's where 3FC comes in. (Has anyone read "Good in Bed"? I'm halfway through it but LOVE the scene where the fat women take on the weight-management nurse!) I'm also trying to incorporate exercise into my life, but find it difficult.

I'm trying to focus on what I'm looking forward to as a thinner person. At the top of the list is keeping up with my almost-12 yr. old daughter. Towards the top is being able to sit in an airplane seat with some comfort.

Here's to a good week!

Wow! Some of you are walking and running, how inspiring. I can barely walk to the mailbox and back some days. I would like to start walking but it hurts my feet and lower legs so bad, I hate to face the pain that I know is coming. What other kinds of exercise did you ladies start with? I know I've got to start somewhere ... wish me luck!

Hope everyone has a great day! I've got a full day of laundry ahead of me.

Karen,

Welcome back. I hear you about the airplane seats, and hate to pay for first class, and altough flying midwest works, it would be much more conventient to just loose the weight! My biggest fear is that at 220 I wasn't all that comfortable in an airplane, so I have a long ways to go (although I'm thinking that even my fiances father who flys alot is one of the smallest people I know and even he complains about airplane seats, so maybe it's really the seats, and not me at 220)

Let me know how good "Good in Bed" is. I've looked at it at the book store and thought it sounded like a good one, but then I opted for a new paperback by Julie Garwood. I have to limit myself on book purchases since I currently have three bookcases stuffed full and 2 sterilite bins in the basement!

Alright, well everyone, it's time for me to get back to the task list. Hopefully the front door I painted will be dry enough to put back in the door frame tonight!

Wink

Well I'm pooped...I just got back from doing a dish soap reset at k-mart, and then I helped out my mom doing some pokemon and yugioh resets...blech...I got so dirty...I hate the feeling of dirty and grime on your hands...all dusty and dry...eeeep. I don't know about anyone else but I must spend hundreds of dollars a year on hand creams and lotions...I slather that stuff on all the time...I think they say you aren't supposed to but yuck..I can't think of a worst feeling than dry itchy skin...or dry SORE itchy skin...elbow, knees....ankles...ok I've blabbed enough, onward with some individual replies:

Judy and 2Cute: I'm gonna have to check out these tops you two are referring to. Normally I avoid wal-mart because I don't really fit into anything presentable there...just those Just My Size plain tshirts that do not really flatter me very well. My problem is also I like to "hide" my tummy...I carry most of my weight there, and I like to have a shirt that is at LEAST 30" long, or else I find my tummy bulges out from underneath...yeah I know..who am I fooling?

Julee - Good luck on your walk, that sounds awesome. Actually, a three mile leisurly walk is NOT bad at all...just think of it as going shopping or something..seriously..I wore a pedometer to work once (when I worked at Filene's...big department store up here owned by May company...you guys call it Robinson's May on the west coast) I walked about a mile every hour, JUST HELPING OUT CUSTUMERS. I don't know how it's different, but it's way different from an aerobic workout cause you are moving slower. You will be fine.

Catherine - You're totally right...I'm not even HUNGRY at night. I just want to eat so bad....I think I'll hate to take Katie's suggestion and just get away from the damn tv at night...but that's the only thing I do at night is like watch tv or play on the net. Maybe now that summer is here I can go for a nighttime walk.

Karent - I haven't read Good in Bed yet, but I am all too familar with the title...I know who Jennifer Weiner is I see her books in stores and online ALL the time...I guess she has a few out now....another one called In Her Shoes..and there's a new one out, I can't remember the title. I actually picked up GIB at the grocery store a few weeks ago, but haven't got around to reading it yet...right now I'm reading Angels by Marion Keyes...lovely Irish Chick Lit author.

Kel - I think your best bet would be a stationary bike for now...something that offers no impact...if you can afford it what about water aerobics? If you're like me though you might have a public pool phobia

Katie - That's a good idea...now that summer is coming I think I'll make a point of doing some outdoor activities instead of vegging around in the living room!! LOL.

Good In Bed was PHENOMENAL and In Her Shoes was good too. Read it soon..they are making a movie out of IHS and I'm sure it will be botched. Jemima J was also interesting by Jane Green.

Julee - I LOVE JANE GREEN!! She was the author that got me into chick lit in the first place...I've read Jemima J like four times..my only complaint is that the main character is portrayed as a bohemouth and she only weight like 200 pounds or something. Blech. With the amount she ate she should have been WAY fatter. I just recently read Jane Green's latest book called "To Have and to Hold"..it's about infidelity ;p
