WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who many weigh or have weighed 300+. This group was formed to provide a safe place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

There is no weight requirement to belong.
We can all learn from each other.
We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have a bi-weekly 2x2 Challenge.
Our goal is to lose 2 lbs in 2 weeks.
We have a long term goal of losing 300+ lbs within our 300+ group in 2005.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...

Hi all! Just heading out to dinner so I can't stay long.

I'm not sure who mentioned it before, Terri maybe, but the Weight Watcher magazine for Jan/Feb has some great success stories in it. Even if you are not following the WW program these are very inspirational. I get tired of all of the diet articles focussing on those that have had only 10-15 pounds to lose. Not that that isn't a big accomplishment, but when you have more like 200 pounds to lose, 10-15 seems a little insignificant in the scheme of things. I love the success stories of people who are on the same type of journey that I'm on.

Gotta run. Honey's emptying the dishwasher while he's waiting for me. Hmmmm, maybe I should stay down here for another minute or two.

See ya later. Love ya bunches!

Hi everyone, I didn't plan enought for my new WOE, so I had a 4 day jump start. I went to the store on the way home tonight to get the stuff to start day#1 tomorrow.

Ole Alvin went to the doc today. He has shingles!

FOR ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED:How to Post Images

Posting images are very easy, the only thing is to do it LEGALLY you have to have a web hosting site. That can be your own website, or any of the lowcost/free hosting sites. The one's I am familiar with are villagephotos.com and ripway.com They both work the same way and it is almost idiot proof.

You have to have the picture saved on your hard disk. Go to the hosting site and click on the instructions to UPLOAD photo/picture. It usually gives you a Browse option so that you can just click open the file you need and press UPLOAD and it saves the pic to their site.

When you are posting and want to add a graphic got to your hosting site and copy the URL of the pic and come to the site and click on the little square icon the one that looks like it has a mountian and sun on it. Depending on whethte you have the guided Mode or the Enhanced Mode checked you will either have a popup box to paste the URL in or a at the end of the URL. Then click preview your post and check to make sure it's okay.

If anyone has any other question, you can PM me and I'll try to walk you through it.

Howdy! Since I was here so late, I figured what's another hour to post.

Barbg: Thanks for the hints on posting attachments. Maybe someday I'll get my act together, but I printed your directions out for future reference.

Skittles: How is the move going? Did you get all moved in or did the weather deter you?

Qidera: You are sooo committed. Good for you on walking even though it was snowy and windy.

CD: You were talking about keeping your sweatpants on to encourage another bout of exercise. I read a good article that was talking about dressing more casually, if allowed, at work so that stopping at the gym or working out when you get home was easier instead of you having a built in excuse to not do it because you're too dressed up. Sounds like you have a plan.

Terri: No chance of us losing a tree to an ice storm, this whole street has lost theirs to the Emerald Ash Bores! And those that didn't go last Spring are now painted with pink x's to go this Spring. It's really sad.

MaryB: I'm like your daughter. I always tell Honey not to touch anything in my office because then I won't know where it is.

Leanne: I love the new angel avatar. She's soooo pretty.

Chris: Hope your whole household is feeling better. Sounds like you've all got a bug.

Michelle: 76, eh? Our winter storm warning turned out to be an inch last night and another inch this morning. WOW! Not even enough for a good snowman. :sman:

2cute: Glad to see you back again. Sorry about the funk you're in. Life is too short, you gotta shake it.

Marcie: I loved NC when we lived there. It was heavenly having the milder winters.

Mary: Glad your program is going well. Did I say congrats on the soon to be DIL? Whatever are you and DH going to do with all that alone time?

Katrina: I see you deleted, but you didn't repost anything.

Ruby: No special thread for the 2x2. Actually, any of the subjects that have been started on new threads could certainly be talked about here. Some of us don't really have the computer time to check on multiple threads and only read here.

Syn: Cute story. Glad to see you back. I bet that kitty thought you were hysterical.

Lucky: Good to see you peeking in.

I had a funny kitty story to tell as well. Every year my MIL and SIL and I make Angel Wings (Krischeeki sp?). Anyway, they have to be stored in an open container so we usually just put them in a papertowel lined box. Over the holidays we've been putting out a plateful when we've had company and some nights it has gotten left on the dining room table. Well the only time Max, the cat is ever on the dining room table is when it is not piled high with papers, which it hasn't been throughout the holidays. Each morning when there has been a plate of Angel Wings left on the table we have found one that is halfway across the table from the plate of them. We figure that Max has tried to drag one off and just never gets it all the way to the floor. Well the other day, we took the box off the kitchen table where it had been sitting and put it on the floor. This morning I got up and Honey says, "I think we better throw the rest of those Angel Wings away" and he pointed to the box. And there it was, a trail of powdered sugar footprints across my kitchen floor. Guess you know where that box is now.

Ok, gotta run. It's 2:30 AM here and I can barely keep my eyes open. Love ya bunches.

Good morning everyone. I "think" I am coming out of my funk FINALLY.
I did spend most of Thursday in bed ... just could not get myself motivated to do anything.... but tonight I feel almost human again. I guess I should say "this morning" since it is 4:30 am and I have not been to bed yet. I really need to get back to a routine for sleeping. Today I am going to have to force myself to not take a nap.

Since being in this funk I have not really read much here. When I don't read I am really depressed. LOL I am just going to start from here.

Thin... I love your tinker tape thingy. It is so SPRINGY. I saw another one that fits our snowflake/snowman challenge. It had a snowman at the beginning and him melting at the end. It was so cute. I forget who it belonged to... someone in here.
Your story about Max was cute. Made me miss my cat. They do the funniest things.

I have a funny tale myself. I was sitting at the desk and heard this THUMP at the back door. It sounded like someone threw a ball into the glass. When I checked it out.... a bird had flown into my door trying to get to my Christmas tree just inside the door. He knocked himself DEAD. Poor thing. It sounds like something I would do. LOL

Barb.g .. aren't shingles very painful ?? Poor Alvin. OUCH !!
I am in need of some of those cute snowman pictures. I am ready to get back on program and start collecting my snowflakes. I need inspiration !!! I love your pictures and missed them. I need lots of snowflakes.... I want to build a snowman :sman:, a snow angel ... and have a few left over for a snowball fight. :snf:

marcie.. I am looking forward to your weigh in on Saturday too.
I LOVE IT when any of us are successful !!!! Don't worry too much about those chocolates. You have made GREAT PROGRESS ... you will be able to pass those suckers up real soon.

Well friends... I guess I better get off of here and at least try to go to sleep.
My schedule is soooo messed up. Plus I had two LARGE glasses of tea at dinner.
I know better than to drink pop or tea with dinner .... and then me staying in bed most of the day... no wonder I can't sleep now.

Thankful Thursday ... I am thankful for everyone here. I am thankful for your support and your acceptance. I am thankful there are many here to join me in my silly challenges. You help me so much. Thank you for hanging in there with me... even when I don't deserve it. {{{ HUGS }}}

FUN FRIDAY !!!!! Gee... I think I will go get my hair done today. I am going to even paint my fingernails too. I am not a girlie girl. More of a tomboy type. But when I paint my fingernails... I feel girlie.

What were you thankful for yesterday... and what are you going to do for FUN today?

2Cute these guys are to cheer you up!

Marcie: I'm with you ! I'm thankful this week is almost over, if only we were through with this computer change over. Grrrr

I'm still doing great on my new WOE and even enjoying the meals. Of course the fact that I love salmon helps!

I haven't been to the club to exercise since Tuesday cause I felt like I needed to be at work, so I've missed those snowflakes, but I plan to get back next week. Surely we will be through by then!!!

Yea, Ole Alvin's not feeling to great. I thought that was what he had, but the doc confirmed it yesterday, and as always once you get those firs doses of med, you feel really drained until they really kick in.

Well my time is up, gotta go work.

Good Morning everyone!

I'm trying to think of something for FUN Friday, but... what I really want to do is some organizing around the house. So I guess since I'm a big structure and control freak, that could be considered fun, right?

I'm taking the dogs to the vet. Cara needs a shot and I'm taking Mia along just because she loves to go. Silly girl. They're littermates (from the pound) and their coloring is exactly the same, but their build, hair and personalities couldn't be more different. It's always fun to see people's reactions.

I'll post some pictures in the picture thread (if I can figure it out)

Have a great Friday!

Default Hello to all...

I am new to this thread, was posting elsewhere and ThinThinker so kindly invited me over! Thank you!

I just found this site a week ago and have hardly been able to tear myself away!! What a great place for motivation and inspiration!

I will tell you a little about me. My name is Kerri and I am 34 yrs old and have been married to a wonderful man for almost 7 years. We have no children yet. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with tubal blockages that would prevent normal pregnancy and was told that my only choice was In-Vitro Fertilization. I tried IVF in December of 2003 and it didn't work. At the time I was 278 lbs. I asked the Dr if he thought I should lose weight prior to trying IVF, he wasn't concerned about it. After it didn't work, I went into a depression and gained 16 lbs...I ate everything in sight. I just didn't care.

It has been a year now and I am doing much better. My husband and I have taken foster care classes and have also looked into adoption. I started praying about this and that God lead me in the direction that I am suppose to go. All of a sudden I have a renewed sense of purpose and willpower to succeed at this weight loss. I have tried many times in my life to lose weight and have always failed. I wonder if this is God's way of achieving 2 things??
#1 Obviously that I lose the weight that I need to lose
#2 That once I lose weight then maybe I can get pregnant?

Who knows and I am not going to dwell on it.

I wanted to thank you all for being here. I actually also joined (this week) a weight loss group at our church where we are going to study Dr. Phil's book "The Ultimate Weight Loss Solution". I told those ladies about this website and how helpful I think it is going to be.

Looking forward to the future, taking one day at a time!!!!

Good morning, everyone! Fun Friday? Ummmm, probably not doing anything "fun" today except this evening I will be vegging on the couch watching Harm on JAG! YUM! Other than that, I'm just working today. Procrastinating, actually. I have a report to write for the lunch job I had yesterday and I have to go pull another bank job.

I got a call this morning for 5 more bank jobs for next week. This one particular company must think that people just sit around and wait for their call. They only call about once a quarter, but then they want the jobs done yesterday. For example: They have these 5 jobs. They're going to Fed Ex the stuff later this afternoon. It's Friday, I'll get the paperwork from them on Monday. If I've already left the house on Monday I won't get it until I get home. Then they want it Fed Ex'd back to them so they get it by Wednesday! Geez, yeah, I don't have anything else on my calendar at this short notice. NOT! I guess they may not be used to dealing with people that actually run this like a business. Oh well. Just whining. Sorry.

2cute: I'm glad you're doing better. [[[hugs]]] Poor birdie. You really shouldn't keep your windows so clean. Maybe the birds would see them if you left them a little dirty.

MaryB: WOW, you've been getting some real delays lately. I don't blame you for trading off the WW meeting instead of taking chances on the roads. Hope they clear up for you real soon. We got a little snow, but the main roads were just wet when I went out yesterday.

Marcie: Shopping is fun. Hope you can find some good bargains. It IS that time of year. I've been picking up some fun Christmas stuff and gifty items for 75% off at one of the local chains.

Terri: Thanks for playing Sarg with me. I really needed that. I got all my water in yesterday. That's about as far as I can get on the list of things I should be doing. I don't know what it is with the first week of January, but the same thing/feelings hit me last year this first week as well. And last year I WASN'T coming off a Christmas funk, so I'm not sure what the deal is. I really think Mother Nature has something to do with it (and I'm NOT talking about the weather! ) Maybe once "she" decides what to do with me, I'll be better.

Mary: Honey, with new glasses, it is very dangerous to be drinking too. You should really get used to them first, BEFORE you start drinking! You don't have to tell about you and DH, but I bet "big and tasties" are involved.

BarbPA: How's Jeff doing? I hope he's feeling some better. What a trooper! * Are you back in full swing now that the holiday is over?

Qadira: WOW, that's amazing that your dogs are siblings! They look soooo different! And loving to go to the vet's? Geez, really strange dog!!! I suppose that makes them easier to handle while you're there though. Have fun.

Barbg: When #1 Son had shingles some years ago, my MIL suggested this black, tarry looking sauve to put on them. She used it for hers and it really relieves the itch and some of the discomfort. I don't remember what it was called, but I bet a pharmacist would be able to tell you.

Kerri: Glad you found us. I think you'll really love it here. AND it's nice to have another Michigander here too. Now there are 3 of us!!! Post often and get to know everyone and let us get to know you. * As far as Dr. Phil's book, this group did a book study on it some time ago. Here's a link to where the first chapter starts if you're interested. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43108

Well, my dears, I'm off and running. If I don't get this report done it will be late. And THAT is not an option. I hope the rest of you are off and doing something FUN today. Love ya bunches!
