Honest Michelle, it was a lucky guess. Gotta remember I typed philosophy "stuff" for over 10 years.

Just thought of something, in my career at the university I also worked in the nutrition and dietetics department...how come I have a weight problem?! Perhaps I chose all the wrong answers when I typed up those multiple choice exams!

cd, sounds like you're getting an overhaul in December! Seriously, that's great you're going to all those doctor's appointments. How about if you show your doctor a food journal of all your meals and have the he/she look at it? If you don't food journal then start doing that right away. A doctor should be able to tell from reading that journal if you're on the right track or not.

Hey everyone

Two days of physical therapy down! It is really cool how much more I could do today than yesterday. My therapist bumped me up to 26 minutes of total exercise, plus we did two different 10 minutes sessions of e-stim. Thank goodness there was a lot of massage and ice involved in this process, or I would just be one sore chickie.

I need to motivate myself to get back on my food plan 100%. I'm not eating poorly as far as choices go, but I'm certainly not eating enough right now. Anyone else here get nauseated with pain pills? I'm taking Lortab 7.5's, and they are still kicking my heinie. The problem with not eating enough is that I'm more likely to make poor food choices when I do feel a bit better. It snowballs quickly, and I don't want to go there.

Gail, your posts have just been cracking me up! I loved your description of the bath with the grandbabies. Nice bit of pulling that info out for Michelle as well. Wish I had some advice on the home-baked goodies. Definitely the best and worst sides of working in an office environment.

Michelle, you go girl! Get that grill! Good luck with the finals.

cd, sounds like your holiday is going to be spent in the dr's office. I liked Gail's idea about taking in your food journal. It gives the dr. something concrete to work with. Also, using the SlimFast in that manner is probably a good idea for you. Sounds like our eating patterns are similar. We go without for too long and then make poor food choices later during the day because we are so hungry. I know if I can keep my blood sugar levels even throughout the day, I can make it through about anything.

Skittles, don't stress over the apple pie. Apple pie filling and a frozen crust. No one needs to know! The quilt sounds wonderful. I love quilts, but am lousy at quilting.

Terri, I was going to suggest Adaware and SpyBot. We use both programs and run them every Friday when our virus software does its scheduled updates. You wouldn't believe the crap it finds every single week! I have friends that have found over 1000 data miners the first time they ran AdAware. Their computers were moving so fast with all that junk removed. And what can I say but yummmmm... to homemade banana bread. Ok, now I am in a baking mood, darn it all. Maybe I can talk my SIL into coming over and helping me make something.

Kerri, the rain in your part of the country is crazy this year! Tony is a long ways from where you are, but every time I've talked to him for weeks, it seems like it is raining again. I can hardly wait to be back to Curves full time! I miss my friends there so much. Our owner has been such a sweetie and calls me every couple of weeks to check up and see how I am doing.

2cute, wahoo! A Christmas challenge is on the way! I am so excited I also want to commend you on how well you have done with this current Turkey challenge. You have sounded so up, plus you have been able to share some pretty phenomenal weight losses with the group.

Ok, I think I've replied to everyone that shows on the bottom of my screen. That will have to do for now, because I'm exhausted! It has really been fun reading and feeling all this enthusiasm in the group. I've been so excited that it spills over into the rest of my life. I tell people how happy we get for someone breaking into twoterville, or when one of has a really great NSV. Tony even asks after all of you.

Oh, I almost forgot! Tony says that when he comes to visit, we can have a picture taken of the two of us and post it here! I would love to show off my sweetie to all of you, plus I'm awfully proud of him for losing 65 lbs. and keeping it off. He is such a hottie!

Someone just called, and I almost closed this screen without posting. Ack! Better do it fast. Take care, everyone!

Just ran in the door from Curves... tonight kicked my butt... but I'm recovering more easily these days! Thank goodness for small miracles. I am starting to really get into it. Watching some of the other women there, they don't do it exactly, if they get tired, they get a drink...if they can't handle the step or the squat machine they do something off to the side until it's time to switch to another station. Not all bad and I'm starting to do that. The squat machine is killer...I'm squatting with about 30lbs along with my extra weight! Maybe I'll get killer thighs soon! I usually can do that one 2 of the 3 times around.

Sent DH off to HEB to pick me up a lean cuisine. It's not a good cooking night. Not in the mood. And the rain is coming back along with tornadoes! So a quick bite is better than trying to cook and the power shutting off. This stuff is supposed to be gone tonight, but it's lingering pitifully. Today at work we had tornado warnings and had to evacuate all 162 residents into the hallways and away from windows, etc... busy day!!

Michelle-- What are you studying to be? I know about the rain...it just turned back around and is headed straight for us... I think I'll just go crash and sleep for about 24 more hours... the sun teased us and came out for about an hour this afternoon... I think I'm in Vitamin D deficiency thanks to all of this.

Terry-- That sucks about your hard drive! I don't blame you for being upset. I feel your pain. Mine was out of commission for about a month while I argued back and forth with Dell about it. Grrr!

Gail-- I know what you mean about Curves. I am feeling it and feel better all the time while going, so whether I see any results or not, I FEEL them. So that already makes me feel good.

2cute--I'm really looking forward to my first challenge!! I can't wait to do it alongside you all. It'll keep me away from all the (or most of ) the Xmas goodies.

Andria-- I'm loving Curves... Hopefully it won't be long before you can get back there, too! At least they're letting you get some exercise in at therapy. Pain pills can definitely get you nauseated! Make sure you eat a little something a either with or a few minutes before you take them. They will also stop you up bowel wise if you're taking them regularly, so be careful for that! And yes, I've HAD IT with this rain... I'm tired of sloshing when I walk and hours afterwards and the rain pelting the jeep top so hard I can hardly hear the radio on my commute!!

I saw someone post a spice cake recipe somewhere that's low fat and uses a boxed cake mix... does anyone know where it is??

Hey everyone

Nothing new to add, just peeking in to see if anyone else has written.

Kerri, not sure about the specific spice cake recipe you are looking for, but you can lower fat dramatically in any boxed recipe by using applesauce as a replacement (cup for cup) of all oil. Also use egg whites instead of whole eggs. No one has ever noticed the missing oil. In fact, they compliment me on my moist cakes. I fine grate baby carrots and add whatever dried fruits I have hanging around the house (about a cup), plus more cinnamon, clove and ginger, and add them to a cheapo spice cake mix. I'm way too experimental a cook to get into any more detail than that. I honestly go with my instincts until things look and smell right.
And thanks for the reminder to eat something with the pills. They sure are incentive to keep up with your water drinking, cause you can't sit forever in the bathroom with an owie knee.

I'm outta here again. My 8 year old and I are kicking back tonight. Daddy is at school and big sis is off to a youth activity at church. Little one wants to count the granny squares I've made so far and see if I have her blanket about ready to put together. She is quite the task master!

Well it's almost time to retire the turkeys. Already starting to hunt Christmas stuff. I'm almost like you this year Terri. I usually go way out with the decorating, at least 2 full size trees and smaller trees in all the rooms, including the bathrooms and kitchen, but I've decided that this year I'm going to cut way back. I think part of it is because I've felt so bad most of this year, I just can't face all the work of really decorating. Now my only problem is what to use and what not to use. I always do my decorating the day after Thanksgiving when I'm off work, so I listened to a radio station today that was already playing Christmas carols but that didn't help either.

We are doing Thanksgiving dinner for our employees tomorrow, so I've been busy all day. Of course I'm not actually cooking everything, but enough. I've just finished two hash brown cassaroles.

I'll try to get back in tomorrow, but not sure if I'll make it.

Andria-- Thanks for the spice cake tips!! I got the cheapo cake mix and I will definitely remember all of that for EVERY cake I make from now on. I had thought about adding some fruit to it--maybe raisins, apricots, anything dried sounded yummy and make a thin powdered sugar icing... it's for Thanksgiving, so I was hoping to get some answers soon LOL!! Thanks so much... and good luck with your owie knee.

Hi guys... I have been busy doing my Christmas Cards .

Kerri... I double checked my PMs and I did not recieve one from you with your address.
I would be HAPPY to send you the Christmas Challenge too... but I need to know where to mail it. I bet you sent Thin your address for the Christmas cards and forgot to send me your address for the game. Thin has not sent out those addresses yet.

I did not send a Christmas Challenge to everyone who got the Turkey Challenge.
Several people never/seldom posted such as Susie, Mary , Jen (germany) and Syn so I figured they did not want to join in. Some of you did not send me your addresses like Kerri and Angela aka Alice. I don't know who else I may have missed.
I am sure I probably sent to a few who did not want them too.
I started a ROLL CALL thread to list the names I mailed. Check it out and see if you need to be added. I am not trying to leave anyone out... but also not trying to force you play either.
There were 18 of us. Now 19 when I get Kerri's address.

My day today was MUCH better than as of late.
And it was HARD to not eat a big ole bowl of cheese nachos today.
I am going to end this Turkey Challenge with the COMMITMENT I started it. Even if it kills me. LOL

Actually .. I am looking forward to the Christmas challenge.

Good morning! This is the last day of work this week! Yahooo! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I guess all those turkeys out there are way past nervous!

Thankfully, I'm on the Christmas Challenge list! I need the challenge badly. All my good intentions of going back to CURVES have gone down the drain now that I'm taking care of the grandbabies at night. I have to come straight home from work. Yes, they do open up at 7:00am where I go but I'm not going to workout and then go to work for the day w/o a shower after exercising. I'm going to have to come up with another plan. Oh...yeah...I have a treadmill in my bedroom...in front of the tv. I could walk up and down the four flights of stairs at work at least twice a day. I could walk on my lunch hour. I need to get off my butt.

I'll be back later...never fear!

Just checking in after getting my food in the oven for lunch today. Now it's off to Water Aerobics while it cooks.

Crikey,

We have 5-8 inches of SNOW this morning. At least I'm off work and not having to make the commute. Like my staff. BAHHHAHAHA.

On the good side, I get to try the snow blower today! That is if DH reads the directions and puts in gas and oil.

I wanted to go to the store last night so I could get all my cooking ingredients but noooo, DH insisted we go this morning. I should learn never to listen to him. I could have had something baked by now.

Almost puts me in the holiday mood. Well, maybe NOT!

We're supposed to have snow two more times by next Tuesday. I'm really sorry we traded off the 4 wheel drive. I think its going to be a nasty winter based on all the rain we've had all summer and fall. Again, where's the sigh smilie?

Later chicks.

I just wanted to pop in and give a late "motivation" "tip" for everyone, or at least to remind myself.

While it is getting easier and easier to motivate myself to work out, it is still hard to get myself to finish the work out. There's this one exercise in the workout that really strains me and makes me feel like I'm going to fall over - But! but, when I actually do it the time passes by and I don't even notice I've actually done it! and I feel so proud, especially since theres only about 5 minutes left of the workout after that silly exercise.

Sometimes I don't even think I can do half of the work out, or any at all. I do WATP for 2 miles and often when I see that one mile marker go by I tell myself "Should I quit now? Should I quit at 1.5?"

This is what I have to say ladies: Just do it!

I know thanks to Nike that has become such an annoying and cliche phrase, but it is the one thing you can keep telling yourself over and over until you do what you need to do.

Learn the difference between "can't" and "won't". I know its hard and it is taxing and you just want to stop while you can, but look at the big picture and the big goal - and know that even those few minutes makes a big difference in it all.

All of you may have heard this a thousand times and know it by heart, but I still have to tell myself it a thousand times to conquer my lack of determination. Learn the words "I Can do this, I Will do this!"

Cause I tell you what, nothing feels better than going into a workout (or anything) without the motivation or determination, without the certainty of success - and completing it despite all of those things. Telling yourself that you have beat the monster of "I can't do this" once again and you are finally making that change in your life.

I'm sorry for the ramble but I'm feeling wonderful and motivated and inspired after last night. I deal with the "I can't I won't" every time I work out but yesterday it just hit me how much I have changed and started to battle my old self who would easily give up so quickly.

We can and we Will do this!

...and I'm feeling your motivation cd! Great advice! I'll be getting out of here (the office) early today and I will have some time to myself before the grandkids come over. I will walk on the treadmill and then I'll go back on-line later this evening and tell you (and the rest of the group) that I did walk!

Terri...6-8 inches of snow! I bet it looks like beautiful there where you are!
