Cool Chat thread for MAY!

Wow woke up this morning and realised its MAY

April has gone not a great month for me with Easter in it
I know that most of the members here are headed into summer and enjoying spring
but I am ploughing into winter we have had two cyclones hit the Country which has meant this month we have had a hard time getting fruit n veg for the season especially things like spinach have been in short supply which has been hard for me as not a lettuce fan when making salad like to toss spinach through it - warm or cold salads - warm roasted veg tossed in a bowl with spinach cold all the yummy salad ingredients just swap lettuce for spinach sometimes swap half not all...

Anyway as we farewell April we welcome MAGIC MAY and think about our goals that we are going to set ourselves moving forward this month

for me that means
new goals

1. To stick to my plan - I'm a NZ weight watcher so far its working but have only kind of been doing the plan so only kind of loosing weight - so back to it !

2. to walk every day - I have an aim to get 20,000 steps most day this month or 125,000 in a week

3. to drink 1.5 litres of water aprox 6-7 glasses at 8 oz each for that one

and add in 2 or 3 toning routines in a week to help reduce saggy skin effects

time to go through the wardrobe again

It's almost May here, since I'm in North America... I didn't do great in April either. Undid some progress made in March. I'm feeling motivated to get back on plan but my birthday is coming up, I'm turning 31 and feeling disappointed that I'm still bouncing around the 300 marks instead of having done the work and left it behind me years ago.

Your post is very encouraging, Karencat, even with a not-great month you've made awesome progress and are recommitting to plan. Good luck, I'm going to follow your example.

Hello all!
Ready for May here. I didn't do the greatest in April either. Just muddling through until the end of the school year. I have a job interview for a job back home on Thursday. I am ready to get back home so please keep me in your thoughts and prayers that day! I am stressed living where I am right now so I am definitely ready to go home. I need to hit the exercise and continuing work on IF. I do pretty well with a 6-hour window. I hope you all have a great week.

Happy May Day All! I am working the Night Shift (530PM to 4AM) tonight, so I am literally bringing in May Day in Good 'ol Colorado. Speaking of which, I mentioned "May Day" to the MUCH YOUNGER people who work for me yesterday and none of them even knew what it was. I remember way back when, kids used to make may baskets for May Day... Mad me feel OLD.

Looking forward to starting the new month Right. My family is going to be moving soon, although we haven't decided on the specifics quite yet. We're debating on whether to move to Phoenix where I can continue in my same line of work (fairly high stress with long hours) or move to a rural community in New Mexico where we could afford for me to work only part time and take a year or two to focus on myself, for maybe the first time in 15+ years. I would have so much more time to hike, bike, walk, swim, etc., however we would have to do without some of the conveniences that my kids have gotten used to like unlimited data plans (oh NO!). So.. big decisions ahead.

Regardless, like you Karencat, I have to get back in gear and set some new goals. EXERCISE is the big one. It's time to get busy again. I finally feel like I have a handle on my eating, it has become a habit, it is time to make exercise a habit too.

I agree with everyone else... April was not a great month for me either. Ultimately I've lost some weight but nothing significant. I moved my mother in law in with me today. Not sure how well this is going to work out but I'm hopeful that we can get along.

I wish everyone the best!

Karencat...can I ask you a question? If you don't want to answer that's ok.
You've lost a little over 120 pounds....which btw is freaking awesome....
What differences have you seen in your health from your start of the journey till now?

April can jog on.... May here I come!

I have 1 full week to get my butt in gear before I spoil it with alcohol However I will be drumming my butt off and burning calories.

Fingers crossed for a better month.

Sounds like we are all ready for May to be a good month.
I am doing well and am happy to report my pants are in the dryer trying to be shrunk.

BTW... the scale is totally teasing me... 290.0 today. I want to be in the 280's already!

I have decided to go very very low carb (No starchy carbs) once I'm back from Germany. I Really hope that it is the boost that I need on my final stretch before the wedding I have in June.

Any no carb/ low carb meal ideas would be great if you have any

Scotgal: drumming as in your a drummer or that you do that drumming exercise thing? I keep seeing promos for it here and it looks interesting.

Oooo I had to look up drumming exercise and that looks like a lot of fun Wish they had classes in my area.

Well the scale has been kind lately but I over did it on the whole trying to run thing. I don't think that I let myself have enough time to heal before trying again. I hope everyone is doing well.

I hope everyone had a good mother's day weekend. I vowed to do nothing today and I have done it. Less than 500 steps today. Usually I wouldn't be happy about it but I have put in over 50 hrs this week. I am tired.
It's hard to believe that May is half way over.

sweetcakes736 in anwswer to your question - I dont get quite so much back pain and my knees dont hurt as much - blood pressure has come down too

still trying to stick to my plan here - doing a bit better then in April - should have a more positive impact this month right?

ichoosetobelieve - I know - I did the same look up the drumming after asking about it and yup it looks fun

Scotsgal - look into banana flour it might be a way to help you with your low carb too and easier on the digestion then regular flour?
