Hi! I'm Lass22 and I just found this site last night. I'm looking forward to getting involved because I need help and support. I need to lose a lot of weight and I'm not that confident that I can do it. I've only lost about 30 lbs. at a time in the past. Then over the years, I gain it back plus more. I'm an emotional eater and suffer from depression, so it's a vicious cycle.
Even if I never reach my goal (150), just getting to the lower 200's would be great. Anything would help. My back and knees give me a lot of pain, so exercising is very limited right now.
I'm not on a diet plan. I'm just cutting back and working in more produce . I'm also trying to wean myself off of Pepsi and drink more water. It needs to be a lifestyle change because I don't believe in diets and temporary restrictions.
Any suggestions about getting off Pepsi would be appreciated.
I am new here too, but joined up after lurking for a while. I have lost about 50lbs since March through calorie counting and now I am exercising more as my joints are complaining less. More and more is becoming possible, and I am grateful for the support I have found here too.
I am a diet cola addict, and am trying to drink less - for each glass I try to drink one glass of water first. That fills me up so I want less cola.
Thanks crazycatwoman, that's a good idea! I don't drink coffee, so soda is my morning caffeine. Right now, I'm trying to drink it in the morning and at supper and the rest of the day, I drink lime- flavored water. I'd love to get to the point where I just drink it when I'm out at a restaurant as a treat.
Lass- I had a serious soda addiction. I got myself on diet then after that became a habit, I switched to only diet caffeine free (I'm not a coffee drinker either). Then, I cut it down to one a day. And now it's been a few months of completely soda free. I did drink a couple sips of one recently, and couldn't stand it anymore.
It really is addicting, isn't it? I drank a 2 liter bottle every day for years. I get frequent migraine headaches and always reached for soda for comfort. I told myself the caffeine was helping me, but drinking it constantly, doesn't help.
When Pepsi Throwback came out it was like candy. It's full of real sugar, no substitutes. I've known I had to get off of it for a long time, and now is finally the time. All I can say is thank goodness for lime-water.
I just hope I can pass on the Pepsi when the next headache strikes.
Hello and Welcome!! I am with ya on not believing in diets...Been there and done that in the dieting land...Now am older and not getting any younger, working on choosing wisely and move more! Keep your mindset on good and you shall win. Never give up hope. Wishing you best luck with your efforts!!
Good luck to you with everything I also have a lot of weight to loose and just found this site yesterday. I hope to stick with the calorie counting about 1500 and to work in exercise but I think that sometimes I can not stay motivated after a couple of weeks. I see a lot of inspriation here on this site which I feel can help all of us in our high and low points. Good luck to us all.
I am your same height and started out around your weight but heavier. I just reached one year of maintenance having lost 228-ish (depends on the day LOL)
One of the first things I did was cut down on my DRUG OF CHOICE - Mountain Dew! I drank my last soda in May of 2010.
I also did not make huge radical changes at first, instead I forcused on small changes and then small changes became big changes.
Hi Lass! I'm new here too, just found this site this week.
How are you going?
It's great that your on here, there really are so many supportive people and I've read lots of great ideas and inspiring stories, it's given me a boost this week for sure.
I could never do much exercise but my friend said I should try pilates and I love it now. There are people who do it with me with back injuries and they say it really helps. At the start of the class the teacher asks people if they have any pains or injuries and she tells them if they can do a move or not and gives them an easier move to do if they can't.
Thank you all for the posts! You've all been so generous! I really like it here. I come on every day and read and try to post to a couple of threads. I posted my first NSV today -- a victory for the knees and back already!
I had some bad days with headaches (migraines) when I reached for the soda. Except for those days, I've kept up with soda just at am and supper. That's working well so far. I'm determined to join the Y and start swimming since it's my "no pain" form of exercise.
Hello, Lass I am doing ok still have not started walking yet. I also like to post on at least 3 or 4 threads each day not only for inspiration but also for the connection with other people that are in a same boat weight wise as I am.
