How long after eating starting to eat healthy can you expect to have diarrhea? I am guessing it is from all of the lettuce and the like.

i find that when i eat healthier, i am far less constipated and that when i slip and eat some crappy processed food, i become far more constipated....i dont have diarrhea and i never did....although everyone's body responds differently to a change in eating...as long as it's not severe or ongoing, i wouldn't worry about it

Hmm I only got diarrhea after eating fried food after I started my healthy eating. I never had that issue from eating healthy except for the one time I forgot to wash my fruit before I ate it.

Lettuce sometimes does that to me, so I dont' eat lettuce. It's not an essential part of weight loss. If vegetables are making your guts act up, cut back on them until your body gets used to them, or find ones that agree with you (for me that means avoiding things like peppers, broccoli, lettuce, etc.)

When I eat better I usually get constipated from the extra fiber, not diarrhea.

I have IBS, so I'm prone to the extremes of diarrhea and constipation with just about any kind of change in my usual lifestyle (even exercise). To develop better habits, without throwing my digestive system haywire, I had (and still have) to make the changes gradually.

The good news though is that as I've improved my lifestyle habits, the IBS symptoms are less severe and less "sensitve" to changes. I still have to be careful, but not as careful. Consistency seems to be key.

Whether and how long a person experiences difficulties after changing their diet, is extremely variable, but if the diarrhea doesn't clear up in a few days, consider making changes more gradually (and consider seeing your doctor to discuss whether you have an underlying digestive issue).
