Has anyone tried a program like this? It pretty much consists of getting weekly B-12 injections, an appetite suppressant, and then a new "fat burning" injection. You meet often with a nurse practitioner. They work with you and your lifestyle practices to make good food choices. The appointment is $60 for the initial lab work, meeting with practitioner and the 4 B-12 injections, plus prescription for the appetite suppressant. Fat burning injection is an extra $25.
Wondering if places like this are valid or worth it?
I've not tried this; however, this looks somewhat like what my sister has been (unsuccessfully for many reasons) doing. She has a hgh shot in the morning, vitamin packet, and 500 calories per day. She weighs in weekly at the doctor and gets a vitamin shot there. She lost the first week, but has been unable to maintain the program since then.
I did a similar program after two of my friends started doing it. We all lost weight but then gained it all back (mine brought friends, lol). One of the girls re-lost what she gained, but for awhile she had heart issues due to the weight loss pills. The other girl lost a little bit of what she regained, but she is not as small as she got down to on the program. I have fluctuated. The reason that you lose weight is because you are on an appetite suppressant. They act like they are changing your habits, but it's hard to really do that when you aren't hungry (well, I still was) and your all hopped up on pills (oh, the sweating). I lost weight because I cut out junk food because I just wasn't thinking about food all of the time. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend the program, but that's just me. To be honest, they are set up to make money, not help people be successful. However, I wish you luck. Some people can make it work. Also, be careful with sex because the B12 and weightloss hormone shots make you SUPER fertile. At the place that I went, we had women who were "infertile" suddenly become pregnant! (Luckily, they were happy because they'd always wanted babies.)
This plan doesn't limit the amount of calories. It does prefer you do a low-carb diet, but it doesn't do major calorie cuts to 500 calories a day like those HCG drop diets. It encourages good nutrition, even meeting with a Nurse practioner who specializes in nutrition. I was just reading about it and curious. I don't mind the B-12 injections, and I've taken the appetite suppressant before, but on my own I've done pretty well the past 3 weeks cutting down on portions and such. It isn't terribly expensive, so thinking it is possible to give it a shot, but still in my brain about whether it's worth it or not!
Kerri - (My name is also Kari by the way lol)... have you tried Weight Watchers at all? I signed up in January and lost 30 lbs in about 3 months. I'm now following the program on my own, but it definitely works. B-12 shots are always good for energy, however I just don't agree with appetite suppressants as they can cause problems.
Hi Kari! No I haven't tried WW yet. I've certainly mulled that one over as well lol. I bet it would be easier for me to follow. The points kind of make me cringe, but it's a new way to count things and figure things out. I've done good so far tracking my calores. Do you find it easier giving things a point value? I see it everywhere, so I wonder if I can catch on fast enough. I'm willing to spend a little (not tons and tons) of cash on a program I will enjoy.
You could be right! I'm not willing to cut out entire food groups, so I really do not want to do any kind of Atkins or low carb. It's not realistic for my lifestyle. Point tracking may be better for me. Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't looked that way lately.
Also, I wonder about B-12 injections vs. the pill form. I need to look that up. I already take it as a supplement. Is the injection better?
Kerri - WW is something I tried to avoid for years because I just thought it wouldn't work for me. I have tried different programs since I was a teenager and most of those were short lived and they just weren't realistic to maintain as a lifestyle. Plus, I still wanted to be able to eat certain "bad" foods lol.
Finally in January I felt desperate and just said the heck with it and joined WW. I was nervous at first, especially with the points, but it was pretty easy to catch on to! When I first started I think I was allowed about 56 points per day. Plus each week you have a bank of 45 "extra weekly" points, in case you go over at some point during the week. (They actually encourage you to eat some of your weekly points). Plus if you exercise you earn points that you can use if you want. Each time you lose a certain amount of weight, your daily points go down. So right now I'm allowed 42 points per day. I can honestly say that I never truly feel starved on WW. If anything, at times I've found it hard to eat all of my daily points, let alone my weekly points.
So even though I'm not a paying WW member anymore, I really do love the plan. I just wasn't a big fan of their website. I felt like for what they charge members, their website could have been a little more high tech and with less bugs to work out on it. I'm now using a free WW app on my cell phone and it works just as good.
