There are lots of good ways to lose weight. You just need to find the one that's right for you. I would suggest starting with Calorie Counting, simply because it educates you on the caloric value of food, and then you can start branching out into low carb, high protein, paleo ect.

Do a google search on BRM calculators, and they'll advise you on how many calories to aim for in a day, and there are many good calorie tracking websites, fitday, myfitness pal, spark people that can help you keep track of what you eat.

Good luck and you'll do great if you stick with it! Have a great journey!

hi Lucky and welcome!

You have made a HUGE first step in the right direction already ... you are trying to figure out how to make LIFESTYLE changes that will help you to lose weight and get healthy!

Different methods, of course, work for different people. I have lost and gained numerous of times and each of those times have been learning experiences for me.

Something that I have made a priority on my journey is to be mindful of the amount of food that I eat, and to make sure that my meals are proportionate (this is strictly from my own opinion of what proportionate is). I am also learning to be mindful of recognizing when I'm actually hungry, and when I'm just feening to have something in my mouth.

Finally, I am being mindful of getting some movement throughout the week. Even if that's just walking in place as I watch tv, or dancing around the living room with some music playing.

The trick (in my opinion) is to learn along the way. The best thing though is to just get started. You can't ever reach your goal if you don't even start.

You can do it!

Welcome!

Cherber and MyBody are dead on You have made the most important step, and that is simply the DECISION to get healthy.

I do calorie counting coupled with clean eating (you can Google that, but basically it means, super healthy foods and not partaking in crappy eating) and it has worked WONDERS for me, and honestly hasn't been too terribly hard once I made the decision and I continue to stick with it.

Whichever path you take, just remember that everything you eat from here out is a choice, and each choice has consequences, good or bad. And hey, if you mess up one meal or one day or one week, that is no reason to give up. Just start making healthy choices again.

We are here for you!
