We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.
We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.
We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.
Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simultaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.
We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us

DC metro had a bad line of tstorms go through it. My recycle trash can got knocked over, but that was it. LOL. I did go without power for an hr. That was miserable with the heat.
It finally cooled down last night and we are supposed to be cooler for the next 3 days.
jacquie: I hope you start feeling better soon! WTG with focusing on the exercise
As for me:I am reading ALOT! Learning things..just not applying them yet Looks cloudy out..but I am sure not rain. My son and his EX are not talking again. UGH! He said he wants to take her to court..then the next minute no. I think it is time for me to step in. I have been trying to stay out of it. BUT I believe if he waits to long..he will regret it.
Jacquie, nice to see you posting again! How are you doing? xxxxxx
Ratkitty we too are having storms, it scares me! We aren't really very warm here either, but thankfully we have power. How's the new kitty doing? xxxxxx
I'm struggling, mood swings & feeling annoyed a lot. I forced myself to exercise today, now that TOM is about done I can get on with it, but I felt so ill; dizzy & faint; this TOM that I didn't exercise or stay OP for three days.
I really need to get a few more lbs off so I'm into the next stone down (14lbs= 1 stone) this seems to be the bit where I give up, gain it back then have to re-start... I'm determined to get into that next number but after the week-end & TOM I'm worried about a gain this week & how it might affect my willpower/determination. Anyway...here I am NOW OP & exercising...cross your fingers for my Friday weigh-in please.
xxxxx sharon
Didn't exercise yesterday and I felt like crap. I guess it's not too bad since I did go three days straight up until yesterday. I'll most definitely be in the gym today.
Talk about miracles.... I have so much to be grateful for!!!
--My kidney function is almost back to normal - from 4.9 to 1.55
--The Grand Canyon on my rear is now a ravine
--I got out of bed and walked to the dining room table with my walker and
supper with my family including our son who is home for 48 hours
--My pain level is back to about a 5 - and I can live with that
My dad promised me a cruise if I lost 100 pounds and he bought us tickets yesterday for a 7 day western caribbean cruise even though I still have 21 pounds to go and I told him he didn't have to keep that promise because I know he made it when he did not believe I could lose weight.
Sorry to hear some of you are having a rough time. I know it is really hard to eat healthy and take care of yourself when everything feels out of control.
Oooo Lindy I'm SO pleased for you! That your kidneys are getting right, your Dad honouring his promise & that your son is home! xxxxxx
I exercised today, weights & gazelle, feel better for it, been OP too. Tomorrow is W day, almost feel like giving it a miss coz my legs, arms & tummy look smaller but if I see a gain it will pi$$ me off!

Cyn what is it about guys-they hang on to EVERYTHING! Our garage is very big -4-5 car-sized and its FULL of tools, stuff that he 'might need' and stuff that should be at the dump! Good luck with the clean out, wanna come over here after & help me? lol! xxxxxx
I weighed in no loss, no gain.. BUT I did lose, since last week an inch from my waist (now39") and an inch from my thigh (I only measure one thigh). I'm happy with that really, I'm going to try a Karate-based exercise recording I have, it's an hour long & watching it I'm sure I can do most of the exercises. I treated myself to some 'balance-ball' trainers from a well known sports shoe manufacturer, they are supposed to force your legs, tummy and bottom to work harder coz of them being all wobbly. Well did my usual worout in them & today my legs are aching, I think the shoes are working.

Cyn, w0000000t about purging. I gotta stop buying more stuff. I just wanted a workhorse gas coleman lantern. I ended up finding 2 vintage ones for cheap on ebay and then ended up getting what I wanted from Coleman as a treat for me. The first vintage one showed up and wasn't working and I took it apart and got it all cleaned and repaired. It works! LOL.
Sharon, you are just ROCKING!!! Keep up that great work. I haven't lost in almost 6 weeks, but I can now wear some shorts I couldn't earlier. So I know my weight is shifting around. Boss kitteh is doing soooooo good. He loves sitting in the windows, wants to go outside sooo sooo bad and gets very upset when I go outside with the dogs and leave him. He's such a little lover. His favorite toy is a twist tie and his favorite game is mousie-under-da-covers when it's time to go to sleep.
Lindy.. phew!! The kidneys are recovering! I'm so happy for you AND you got up and went to supper. I can't believe your dad came through with the tickets. I always look forward to your posts. I know you are recovering from such a horrid event, but want to encourage you to continue to write more!
DeeDee, how you doing now? Don't get so down on yourself for missing a day. Your body does need a break once in a while. Perhaps setting your goals smaller (go 3x a week) is more attainable? Let us know if you are doing ok!
Hugs to my lurkers! You know who you are.
Hugs,
Ratkity

Wow - what a busy week, doctors, physical therapy - PACKING FOR A CRUISE!
My silly dad bought tickets for NEXT WEEK _ August 8th! I could not believe the doctors (all 4 of them) said to go. They said I can heal on the boat if I take it easy. I thought one of them would say no. SO - we sail Aug. 8th. Had to line up a couple to house/dog sit, gather clothes and medical supplies. Oh, this was fun - my clothes are all getting very big on me.
They just kind of hang down and sometimes I trip over the dresses they are so long. I lost another 2 1/2 pounds so I am down to 415, just 19 pounds off the 100 pounds lost goal.
ENOUGH about ME - How are all of you????
I am sorry I have not been good about keeping up with everyone, but I do think of you often.
