This group is for those dealing with the challenges of being fit when you have a significant amount of weight to lose which becomes harder after age 40. If you're an old or new friend and not over 40 and feel this is the place to post, jump right in.

I keep getting on track, only to find derails!

But as each year goes by I just get more stubborn, so I WILL succeed!

Hi Heather,

We too are loving our home grown veggies. I planted Banana Melons this year. Never had them before, but they look interesting. They are not ready yet but I'll let you all know how they did when they are ripe.
Have some Armenian cukes getting some size to them. And have been picking the Market More cukes, sweet banana peppers and squash this week.
The blueberries and the black berries are done for now.
Tomatoes are ripening too.
Nothing like veggies with REAL flavor.

My mouth is watering for some home grown veggies - will hit the market this weekend. I thought I was outsmarting the pups with the upside down tomatoe planter - turns out they just don't have to bend down to get them.

Carol_ LOL I can just see the girls playing with your tomatoe plant!

Heather- NO we didnt get any rain and my garden is dying. Watering it myself just isnt the same as rain on it. Plus I think the super hot temp are getting to it also. I have only 3 squash plants left. We have random squash still popping up on them and hubby slices it lengthwise and throws it on the grill for me. Its a nice treat so I will try and keep those last few plants alive.
woodgal- Your so right , fresh veggies and fruit are wonderful!
mikki- Im praying we will find a long straight path of track with no derails...YOur right we can be stuborn and refuse to be derailed!!
Well today is day 7 POP!! Im still planning on no bites off plan. I do need to start back counting my calories. THis past week I just planned my meals and stuck to that plan. This next week will include logging calories into the the daily plate.I feel GREAT!! Scales are being stubborn and not moving down...but I cant let that bother me.

I think we and our dogs aren't the only ones who like tomatoes -- the toms on one of my big heirloom plants keep getting chomped ... maybe chipmunks!

Yesterday was a pretty good day -- dinner was easy. BLTs with our homegrown tomatoes. something with zucchini tonight.

Great POP day - and had a surprise visit from my niece and her 8 month old - hadn't seen him crawl before - it was fun.

Thanks Heather! It feels so good to be on track again. Hubby lost double what I lost but thats a man for you. He is still struggling with his glucose bottoming.

Well, I'm definitely in. And I love the title "getting fit," since that's exactly my plan. I used to be an athlete!! I'm so mad at myself for allowing things to go so very far. But I have determination, good plans, supportive friends/family/physicians, and a gym membership. I need new sneakers, but that's easy.

So, ladies, I'm IN. I'm going public right here with my goal of being under 300 by my birthday, which is at the end of August. I know my CW says 321--that's what it was on 07/19/2010, when I last visited my doctor (and her scales don't lie). I haven't weighed since then. I have been exercising diligently, upping as I go, and have kept to 1600 calories or less per day (I find calorie counting and wholefoods/superfoods really helpful). I feel fantastic--now if I can get some of this lard off my body!!

Big issues for me: A severely underactive thyroid, for which I'm to see an endocrinologist in 2 weeks' time, plus when school starts up again, a time issue for meal preparation and exercise. I may start a new thread and ask about time-saving tips for getting healthful meals prepared ahead of time.

So anyway, hi, y'all, and let's DO IT!!

LiliK

LiliK - welcome! Being fit and healthy is what it's all about.

How about massive meal prep once a week or a coupla times a month - that's what I usually do - just quick prep after work and the gym during the week.
