How much did you lose before you had to buy new clothes?
I've lost just 14 pounds and I'm fitting into my older jeans. I know it'll be a long time before I actually need new clothes, but how long did it take you ladies before all your pants were falling down and you needed to buy new stuff?
Ive almost lost 50lbs and have only gone down a couple sizes. I already had some 20's and 18's so luckily I didnt have to go out and buy those but Im fixing to have to go out and buy 16's soon! I dont have to unbutton my 18's anymore to put them on or take them off! =) Its a nice feeling! lol
On Jan 1 I was in 26/28s pant and shirts
Sometime in Feb I had to get 22/24s - so maybe 35 pounds
On March 27 I got 18/20 shirts and jeans, which were too tight - 56 pounds down
Today I just got a couple 14/16 shirts which fit, and a couple of 18/20 skirts which fit perfect - 61ish pounds down
best feeling ever!

At my heaviest weight, I would have been really squeezing in to my size 24 (so that's 20 US) Jeans - so I suppose it took me a bit longer to need new clothes given that most were already too small.
It probably took me the first 20lbs to fit in to those clothes properly again, so it would have been around 30 - 35lbs before I seriously needed to buy new clothes!
The upside to all of this is getting to buy new things in smaller sizes.
the downside is spending a fortune on a whole new wardrobe!!
PS don't forget to throw everything out immediately as they become too big for you - it is an important step (bar one pair of nostalgia big pants of course)
I have not bought any new clothes. I'm still wearing a couple of the 24s with a belt. My 20s are starting to get a little big though. So I guess soon I'll have to get some 18s. I think I got rid of all my 18s.

I have lost 20 lbs since being on the board and I can only buy a size smaller shirt I was in a 26/28 and now it's a 22/24 but I did put a pair of 26 jeans on but i had to lay on the bed and button them and zip them and of course the belly flab was hanging over but twenty pounds ago they wouldn't go up over my thighs or butt.
I started out a size 32 (2 sizes too big for Lane Bryant) but I had old clothes in every size all the way down to 16 so I only had to get bits and pieces until pretty recently - except for bras. New bras every time you need one are a worthwhile investment. A well-fitting bra will make you look 2 sizes smaller than a badly fitting one. Good bras are totally worth the money. I started out in an I-don't-know (probably should have been 50-something) DDD and started buying new bras at about 60 lbs lost, down to 44DD. Then every 20 lbs or so. Now I'm a 36DD, but I don't know that I'll ever be a 34 because my ribcage is right there.
Good question! I've lost about 40 pounds but I think it will move more quickly once I'm in real sizes rather than X's. I am wearing a 3X shirt today that I haven't been able to wear for a while. But the matching pants didn't fit right, yet. I, too, have a variety of sizes in my closet to work my way through. Summer should be easy enough. Shorts and t's are casual enough to be fine for a while. Can't wait to send that first box to Goodwill!!!
60 lbs. I probably waited too long for some of my clothes, but most fit looser, but weren't falling off.
At my highest, pants weren't comfortable, so except for a few that were made of t-shirt knit I wore skirts and dresses (denim and t-shirt). The pants and skirts I did wear were drawstring and/or very stretchy elastic waists. They were the type of clothes that weren't likely to just fall off. It also meant that my weight loss wasn't very obvious to friends and family until I could get into "real" jeans.
You're right, I wasn't comfortable in jeans until I was solidly in a 28, and by the time I was brave enough to try, they were already pretty loose. Now my female coworkers get on my case for wearing "mom" jeans, they want me to try low rise. But I have way too much tummy still for those!
